"This is a fun, sexy book that kept me turning the pages as fast as I could read them." When New York book editor Kate Porter trips and falls into Drew O'Connor's arms, she has no idea that the man with the drop-dead looks is an Olympic champion skier, the face of famous luxury brands, and a serial dater of models and actresses. Their attraction is immediate but neither does anything about it. He rides off on his Harley and she returns to her office. The chemistry between them is undeniable when Drew's agent brings his reluctant client to Kate's office a few weeks later to pitch a book about his life. As they move forward, their sexual tension makes it difficult to maintain a professional distance. The relationship quickly heats up, but Drew's fame, dark past, and a life-changing secret test their feelings for each other.
My newest book, FALLING INTO DREW, is available now! Its star is the yummy Drew O'Connor, a man I enjoyed spending time with and I hope you will too!
One of the best parts of writing novels is the chance to immerse myself in the world of my characters. I'll miss Diego and the rest of the people in the Legacy series, but my newest book's characters are just as intriguing.
After a long career in journalism (Harper's and TIME magazines), I must say that it's much more fun to write fiction than about real world events!
One of my greatest thrills is knowing that so many readers enjoy the stories I've created. I'm grateful to each and every person who's read my books (especially those who leave reviews so that other readers can find them). You can email me at: authorharrietschultz@hotmail.com
LEGACY OF THE HIGHLANDS, A LEGACY OF REVENGE and LEGACY OF LOVE are available now.
Harriet Schultz again amazes me and this time the story and characters are a whole lot different than her previous ones, who happens to be one of my favourites. Alexandra and Diego.
Now this story, didn’t wow me as I would have expected, but it did gave me this sweet feeling where I thought the characters were likeable and not too over the top where the lead female leads can be annoying. I love each of their POVs and also in the mix their friends.
The story line as I stated before that it's like a sweet romance with some heavy hotness and also it comes with a twist that I didn't expect and you'll be surprised at how fun this book could be.
A new novel by Harriet Schultz was too much of a temptation to pass up. Falling Into Drew is a standalone contemporary romance.
Ten years have passed since Andrew 'Drew' O'Connor last competed as a world-class downhill skier. Represented by his marketing savvy friend/PR agent Charles Morrison he's much in-demand with lucrative contracts endorsing high-profile products as well working as a sports commentator. As a result, he's highly sought by the paparazzi as he's frequently seen with an array of beautiful women when visiting nightspots frequented by celebrities. When he literally picks up a woman in church after breaking her fall, he can't believe he walked away from her without taking her number because, for the first time in years, she's a woman he wants to get to know on a personal level.
Ekaterina 'Kate' Porter is instantly attracted to the tall, black leather clad man after he catches her fall during a visit to St. Patrick's Cathedral. She later learns the identity of the mystery guy after seeing his image in the gossip column of a glossy magazine. When a PR agent rings with a tentative inquiry about an autobiography deal he's trying to establish for his A-list sporting client, her interest piqued as well as irked, when the name of the client isn't revealed. As a book editor with Atlas Publishing, she secretly hopes that the mystery athlete is the male currently dominating her dreams.
I dived in blind without any expectations and as with other books by this author, several twists throughout the plot keep the addictive narrative captivating. The protagonists are intriguing especially Drew because he's certainly a man who isn't what he seems...even to himself. Many challenges need confronting and I love it when an author chooses to make her hero and heroine intelligent; people who can work through difficult situations in a mature and not too dramatic way; without lots of verbal ping pong! A mini plot that runs parallel with Drew and Kate's and I do wonder if this is setting the scene for a sequel. Although the ends are tied up in a satisfactory way, there's definitely a feeling of 'there is more to tell.' Of course, it could simply be wishful thinking on my part! Oh, and there's Mike Fielding too…!
Overall, this is fun, sexy book that kept me turning the pages as fast as I could read them. If you've not picked up a book by Ms. Schultz before then Falling Into Drew is a great place to start.
I just finished reading FALLING INTO DREW by Harriet Schultz. It was my first book from this author and I found that I really liked the plot idea a lot.
Drew – who once was in the media focus at all times and is now searching for something to do with his life other than to go through the motions. Yet years of physical “abuse” of his own body with various sports and realization of the risks he used to take leave him struggling to find an outlet.
Kate – feeling average yet feeling good with it and finally fully in control of her own live bumps into the – as she assumes bad boy – Drew.
Their meeting leaves both of them unsettled and even though their attraction is mutual there are forces and what others might call the #karma book cliché that stops at nothing to draw the reader deeper into their developing relationship.
I really liked the characters; it was easy to see that the author put a lot of thought into their creation
Unfortunately the focus on the developing relationship of the leading characters was a little mixed up with the relationship and kind of intense presence of the secondary characters in the story.
I liked both of them but they were a little TO present with their own story.
And the changes in POV during storytelling flowed a little to easy between the characters which made the storyline kind of off focus because it always took a second to realize the POV had changed from one person to another – not sure how to explain.
But in total it was an enjoyable read and I would like to read more from this author
Falling Into Drew Harriet Schultz Author review 4 hot sweet love stars
This was such a sweet great story. I almost can’t believe it took me so long to read it. The blurb itself had me more than a little curious, but the story itself was – fantastic. So much so, that it will probably be on my re-read list in the future. I love the affair that comes with a surprise meeting, but add in 2 very loveable main characters and the story really tells itself, and I was happy to go along for the ride. This is my 1st read from Harriet Schultz but guaranteed it won’t be my last, her writing style is one I really enjoyed.
Falling For Drew really was an accidental love, one that stemmed from a run in literally at a church. While editor , Ekaterina Porter was visiting the church to light a candle with some quiet reflecting time, she literally falls into a wall of hard muscle and all man. Slightly embarrassed she shakes it off, but that fraction of a second with Mr mysterious will forever change her world. Leaving him behind and heading to work she tries to forget the man whom won’t leave her brain. Finding out, her hot assed motorcycle man is none other than world champion skier Drew O’Connor. So gorgeous yet so far out of her league.
For Andrew (Drew ) O’Connor stopping in at the local church to organise a mass in memory of his gran he finds himself the rock that stops a certain stunning woman from a fall. What he never imagined was that woman would dismiss him as yet another man... End of story. But just like Kate, they both will discover that they need each other in so many ways. As a pro skier, and his womanizer ways have left this celebrity in the spotlight constantly, but not for what he wants to be. He would prefer to hide out, live the simple life, but while the world still wants him, he will constantly be under the evil eye of paparazzi. His best friend, and agent Charles Morrison suggests a tell all book written by the one and only Drew O’Connor. Now in a meeting with an editor Drew’s life will be forever changed, when he discovers the editor is none other than the gorgeous woman from the church. Their chemistry is undeniable from that 1st meeting and they will only be able to control it for so long.
Drew’s alpha style takes Kate by surprise and she finds herself falling for him. They move from working relationship to a holy hell get me into bed relationship. But Drew’s history with women constantly play havoc on their very new relationship. Preferring to hide away out of the public eye is just not what his life is. But it is his other secrets he hides, not only from Kate, but the whole world. He is sure Kate can be trusted with the truth but being afraid of her reaction has him chickening out more than once. Selling himself out to Kate will open more wounds that he was not prepared to deal with. Drew quickly discovers that HIS Kate is the missing piece of his heart, but one final surprise will be the one thing to destroy everything they have worked towards. A fallen through book deal, a cut short holiday with devastating results and a huge surprise neither saw coming will be the ultimate test. Not only dealing with Drew being a celebrity and the paparazzi whom constantly stalk him leaving Kate with to many questions and no answers. Drew will have to step up, be the man and come clean... Will Kate be the forgiving type or walk away. Drew will certainly have his work cut out with this firecracker.
What I really loved about this story, was that despite it was Drew and Kate‘s story, their best friend’s also play a huge role, and yet another great relationship is in the making. Having met Kate, Charles is taken by her actress best friend Liz. Like Drew and Kate they hit it off straight away, so all of a sudden this book went to a whole new level, all told by 4 great characters. I really wish the story didn’t finish do abruptly, I wanted more of Drew, Kate, Charles and Liz.... That cannot possibly be the end.
This was my first book to this author. I won't say that I was so into the story because I felt that it was a little bit rushed out and that it lacked the intensity and heat I always look for in the books I choose, but it was an ok read.
The first chapters of the book were so good that I wanted to meet Drew somewhere and have his autograph but something went wrong toward the end that I lost any enthusiasm and wanted to just finish it.
I won't say that this would be my last book to author Harriet Schultz, I will definitely try some of her other books and hope to find my match :)
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review. Kate Porter is an editor at a publishing company in New York. On her way back to the office she stops at at church to light a candle for her uncle who passed away. After she prays, she starts to stand and stumbles, when she falls into a gorgeous man, who looks like a bad boy with his leather jacket and climbs on a Harley. She is relieved they didn't exchange numbers. Because she doesn't need a bad boy in her life. Drew O'Connor, former Olympic Gold medal winner and model, while he is at church setting up mass for his gran, catches a woman that stumbles and she makes him feel things he hasn't felt before. When she gets defensive with him, he turns and rides away. But he can't stop thinking about her. When Drew and Kate meet again the attraction is even stronger. Does she give in to the pull she feels towards him? Can Drew protect her from his crazy life? Can a second chance be in the making for them both? Will things from his past ruin what has started between him and Kate? This is a great second change romance but I would have liked more at the end. I hope there will be more from these two and maybe a story with Charles and Liz. This is a first for me from this author and I look forward to reading more from her.
i received a copy in exchange for a honest review. well honestly i want more! i know this is concitered a standalone title but it has potential that it could expand into possibly 2 more books after this.
drew the sexy ex Olympic ski star has lived the fast life for the last 10 years or so till one day in church he meets the woman that changed his life. like a dumba$$ he walks away with out getting her name or even her number only to find her by chance or with divine intervention of his grams spirit.
kate has her world up turned the day she falls into a sexy bad boys arms in the church. not realizing till later who's arms shes fallen into she continues on with her mundane life till she has the sexy as sin ex ski start comes strutting into her office with his manager a few days later.
and right from that point you can guess its a roller coaster of a ride to read. i found myself cursing at drew and yelling at kate but i never would have expected that drews secret was so explosive but his ex wife( or soon to be not sure how to conciter it) drops the big one on him.
now i could spoil it but i wont you need to read it to find out just how things end in this roller coaster of a read. though i would like to possibly hear more from drew and kate but also charles and liz since they are just as big in this book
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, even staying up til 3 a.m. on a work night before finally giving up the ghost because I *had* to go to work the next day. This is a solid romance with flawed characters who know enough to know about life to know that without second chances, life wouldn't be worth much at all.
Drew O'Connor doesn't trust easily. Not many people know Drew's whole story and he wants to keep it that way. Being a champion skier, he's watched moments of his life played out in the tabloids for the past ten years. He just wants to be normal, to lead a life publicity free.
Katie Porter is an editor with a publishing house in New York. Its her job to craft and sell the stories that authors and agents bring to her. She has to admit she's intrigued when a sports agent contacts her with a proposal: a biography of a recently retired sports star. When she finds out that star is Olympian and champion skier Drew O'Connor, she's even more so.
The chemistry is palpable between the characters and the romance between them is believable and leaves you rooting for the couple when life throws them roadblocks.
Also, the secondary romance in this book deserves its own book.
~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~
This is the first book I have read by Ms Schultz, but will not be the last. She has an easy writing style and a pace which I enjoyed. The plot is not particularly complex, although there are some interesting twists - but the characters are easy to get to know, and a good mix of fun and intense. Drew has been attracting women for years as a successful athlete and now a model for leading brands, so Kate's initial ignorance about who he is and her wariness, is incredibly attractive. It is a great set up for the unfolding storyline. Kate is an interesting mix of naive and feisty. She discovers things about herself when they are together and the chemistry between them is undeniable.
A good read, with some new twists to the age old story of two people meeting and falling for each other.
Really good read. These two work through their problems as they work toward each other. It is exciting, fun, emotional, intriguing and so much more. I recommend it. I was given a review copy by your new book and voluntarily review it.
I received a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.
What a delightfully sweet romance story! Ms. Schultz did a wonderful job of creating very real, likeable characters who are able to overcome those insecurities and "life" problems that happen in any romantic relationship. It was refreshing to read a "wealthy bad boy" romance where the H was not a vulgar, immature, nasty womanizer and the h was not a 22-year old waitress, assistant to said womanizer, student, his stepsister or some bizarre combination of said stereotypes. The writing was excellent, too!
I hope Ms. Schultz next writes about the two best friends ;)!
Drew and Kate are the main characters in this story but I must say I really enjoyed their friends Charles and Liz who would make a great book too. Charles was one character who really grabbed me right from the start and I would love to know more about his family connections. Charles and Liz as supporting characters really helped cement the relationship between Drew and Kate – they were definitely their biggest cheerleaders considering all the obstacles placed in front of them.
The story flowed well, some parts were slow but I was just impatient to find out all their secrets. Drew’s past definitely puts a test on their relationship and not to mention all the girls who just want to get between the sheets with Drew.
Onto the sexual build ups and sex scenes, they were really well written and definitely helped believe Drew and Kate and their physical connections. I did find Kate really emotional and in some parts she really overreacted considering the length of their relationship.
When Drew’s secret was finally revealed along with the extra OMG moment well that was my favourite part of the book. Patrick was an interesting addition to the whole story and one I really loved. Definitely enjoyed the second half of the book more than the first so keep reading it is well worth it in the end and you will not be disappointed.
This book started off on a chance meet and ending with a something so unexpected it will make you weep !! I loved this book from the first page to the last word !
Oh you know celebrities....fame fortune and everything in between. Everyone thought Drew had it all... from looking in from the outside he had money fame and of course what all men want is an abundance amount of WOMAN ! But that wasn't what was in Drew's heart and he knew if by the first time he laid eyes on Kate. Only she didn't know who he was and treated him like every other person she meets....NORMAL and that made his heart sore.
But when she runs off in there first meet they both know they should have stayed longer...maybe get an email address or a phone number. When Kate saw the leather jacket, motor cycle she knew she just couldn't go there. But we all know looks don't make the person, it is what is inside that makes you who you are.
Will they ever run into teach other again or will first chances just have been it....I think NOT !!
The in's the out's and the up's and down's of life might just make them run into each other again and boy do the SPARKS FLY !!
This is a fantastic heart wrenching loving story ! I hope there is more in store for us to see maybe in Charles and Liz story ??
What an unexpected and fabulous surprise. Drew and Kate have a chance encounter that lights both of them up but they part not knowing each other’s names and expect to never see each other again. Drew is a conundrum, he found fame as a skier and now finds himself at loose ends now that his competitive career is over. His agent suggests writing a book about his life. The meeting with an editor finds him seeing the mystery woman again. He loves that she didn’t know who he was the first time they met, can he find a way to make this woman his? Or will the ghosts of his past destroy something wonderful? Kate is blown away when Drew is the famous athlete, how can she help him write a book and keep her personal feelings under control? I loved the connection that Drew and Kate found, they both have had challenges with relationships so we see a real struggle to trust what they feel for each other. This was honest and real as they chartered new waters together. I truly enjoyed this romance and Harriett Schultz threw in some unexpected twists that gave it more depth and dimension which kept me glued to the page.
With her newest release, Falling Into Drew, author Harriet Schultz weaves another terrific tale that captivated me from beginning to end with her story about Drew O’Connor, pro ski racer tired of the “fame life” and looking for a little peace, a little real, a little more. When he crosses path with smart, sexy and definitely fiery editor, Kate Porter during a visit to St. Patrick’s Cathedral and then soon after at her publishing house, fireworks explode as he realizes fate is giving him a nudge he should not ignore.
As a reader, I found the character’s complex, intriguing, and intelligent. The plot is a wonderful combination of romantic steam along with an abundance of twists and turns that kept me guessing as well as turning the pages until I reached the end.
Author Harriet Schultz is a master story teller. I can’t wait for her next story. This is a don’t miss read!
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this story and the main characters. Most of the books I gravitate have to do with a wealthy playboy and an average everyday girl who ends up changing him. It was nice to have a story featuring a wealthy man but doesn't treat women so badly. There were a few times when I wanted to slap Kate because of how she acted even though they hadn't been together long.
Honestly, my favorite part of the story featured Charles and Liz. I'd be very interested in a book with them. My only hiccup in this book is that I think the end was a bit rushed. I think I would have been able to get into the story more if we were able to slow down just a little. That being said, I think Harriet Schultz is a great author and I would read more work from her.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. I must say I really loved this book! Drew is a hot as sin skier that catches our girl as she trips after lighting a candle in church. A highly unlikely place for a chance meeting but he again ruins it when he fails to get her name and number. Jump to a few days later when Drew's agent, Charles, meets with her about a possible book deal and decides he wants her. She invites Charles over for dinner to discuss it along with her friend Liz and Drew crashes the party. That's where the fireworks begin! You know immediately that there are sparks between these two, and secrets. Wounds buried deep that aren't ready to come out and someone has stage fright. Interesting twists and turns, wonderfully written with attention to detail is evident. Buy it and try it!
I can honestly say this is the first book I’ve read about an Olympic ski champion and I enjoyed it. The writing is good and it was nice to get away from the “usual” baseball/football/millionaire/douche-canoe male characters that are out today in abundance. Kate and Drew have a chance encounter one morning and both are left with the nagging question of what if? That question gets put to rest once their paths cross again in quite an unique way. There’s chemistry neither one can deny. It’s an adult book if that makes sense? There are two main characters that actually act like grownups. Just when I thought I knew where the story was going a bomb was dropped. My only complaints would be that Kate needed to give Drew a harder time over certain things and that the ending was rushed a bit. I was left a bit unfulfilled and wanted to see a bit past where it ended.
I did enjoy this book, I likes all the characters, I would like to hear more from Liz and Charles too, as another reader has said. You can feel the chemistry between Drew and Kate but again as another reader said she did tend to overreact at certain times and then when the whopper comes she seems fine with it. It didn't seem as streamlined as it could've have considering the time they've been together. All in all the story was a good read and I would recommend it to others.
In a way this story is about second chances. Both main characters in Drew and Kate had bad experiences in the past. Could they find love and a long term relationship with each other by literally banging into each other. It was an easy flowing book and had a few surprises a long the way. Hot love was added bonus to the story. Enjoyable and over too quick. It would be good to see where it went in the future. Well done!
The story was ok and I've never read about a former Olympic ski champion, so that was different for me. The book seemed to drag a lot for me and there was a lot of specific dialogue that I personally had a difficult time with. The description of the settings in the book were good and the sex was steamy. Not much angst and the drama was resolved easily. Overall, this was an ok read for me. I will read other stories by this author.
I received an ARC from this author for an honest review.
I received a copy with an honest review. I liked the story. The beginning draw my attention how Drew and Katie meet. Drew was an Olympic skier. Katie wax an editor. Drew had a lot of bad memories of his past that he didn't want it to be open. I liked the story but I felt it was a little rushed and was expecting a little more.
The premise of the story was interesting. How the Drew (retired olympic skier) and Kate (book editor) met and the surprise and shock of how they later reunited. Their friends Liz and Charles added their oen unique hotness to the story. I would have loved more of build up between the couple but otherwise an enjoyable read.
Ok, this book starts off good, then it gets GOOD. Secrets revealed, then even more surprises! Their love story is full of highs and lows, but sweet and real. I like the secondary love story as well.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book I thought this story was ok, it didn't grab me until the end. Too much drama for my liking, I understand trust issues but this story I think took it to far. Just my opinion.
