This is the second book in the Warrior of the Way series. I became a Robbie Cox fan after the first book, Reaping the Harvest. Cox has a way of combining a large cast of characters into a working ensemble and for a new fantasy author this is daunting work. He managed it with seeming ease and kept all the characters interesting.
In this book we find our reluctant warrior Rhychard, still grieving, but life begins to return to some sense of normal. Normal? HAH. No spoilers from me but there will be the unseelie, and visions, and suddenly he has new powers! What's up with that? Ah, keep reading because there are surprises to come.
This is not what I expected and that's good. Cox has found a way to take an old genre and make it fresh and unique. The dialogue is engaging and, while he juggles even more new characters, he does so with a smoothness usually found in much more experienced fantasy authors. Cox proved with Lore Master, that he is a master in his own right.
I'm fully engaged in this series and I the ending was NOT what I expected. Second volumes often do not live up to the hype and fall short of keeping the reader fully engaged. This book is even better than the first of the series. Time for book #3, Mr. Cox. Don't keep us waiting too long.
**I got this book from the author in exchange for an unbiased review**
