Get Out Alive! How to Survive Anything, Anywhere is a complete handbook of the urban and wilderness survival skills practiced by elite U.S. and U.K. military units. Dr. Chris McNab has collected expertise from both sides of the Atlantic, and reveals the fundamentals of survival for every environment, from the subzero arctic to the scorching desert―and for every scenario, from being lost in a trackless wilderness to being under attack in a city. Each of more than 500 practical techniques is presented in easy-to-follow steps accompanied by 500 helpful illustrations that show you how
This book was good but some of the advice was just unreasonable and far fetched. Fire drills and fire ploughs rarely produce a fire easily. Some of the methods of gathering water seemed outlandish as well
If you're an author of action/adventure stories, this is a good resource... not so much for the kind of advice it gives you, but more for the plot ideas it can dredge up when you're stuck for something to write about. I keep my copy handy for those bouts of writer's block.
Definetely a book everybody should read but especially these people who like to hike or live in risky areas. I would like to have this book in my home and furthermore, I think it should be compulsory reading in schools because it's not only interesting and may help to save your life but also it gives you ideas HOW to think if you are in some kind of difficult situation.
Maybe illustrations were a little bit blank and unexpressive that's why 4 points.
Got this as a gift. A lot of situations are covered. Very entertaining book as well as being informative...with lots of pretty (well...) pictures. Will definitely reread this book again...and probably again.
Drinking from the firehose, a wide breadth of content on disparate survival situations. Not a lot of depth in most of them. Useful to glean a few nuggets here and there but otherwise look for a deeper book on the specific situations you are planning for.
Mis sajandil me elame? Me võime küll kõik sattuda loodusõnnetusse või sõjapiirkonda, aga me tee raamatut , mis näeb välja nagu oleks '60-tel NSVL-is välja antud. Joonistatud pildid nagu vanal, heal, vene ajal seeneraamatus.
A little ambitious, but informative nonetheless. I carried this book into questionable situations for a while, but it never saved my life, so I leave it at home now.
