He knocked on death's door, but she refused to let him walk in... Ty Beckinsale was a dead man...until an angel in red lace saved him and disappeared into the night. Tortured with memories and unable to pursue leads to determine her identity until after he recovers, Ty seeks the assistance of the experts at Achilles HeAl, a private physical rehab facility for the rich and famous. Or in his case, the infamous-an ex-Secret Service Agent hell-bent on avoiding the media. His road to recovery, however, leads him straight to the woman he can't forget-a woman he vows to protect from a past he can't leave behind. Fear consumes her, drives her to build walls no one can penetrate... Secrets and lies have driven Faith Artino to turn her business into a compound. She's secure, safe and satisfied with life. Until Ty Beckinsale walks in and knocks down all her barriers with a chemistry she can't deny. But her fear of betrayal stops her from seizing the moment and from taking what she wants more than anything else-a passion so strong it can't be destroyed. A life-time sentence of loneliness awaits, unless Faith opens her door to the one man who's stolen her heart.
Three career paths resonated for Kym during her early childhood, a detective, an investigative reporter, and a nun. Being a nun however, dropped by the wayside when she became aware of boys, they were a perk to life she couldn't deny. In high school her path was forged when she took her first job at a dry cleaners and met every cop in town, especially the lone female police officer in patrol. Following her dream led to a degree in Administration of Justice and the Kansas City Police Department. Kym followed her dream and became a detective that fulfilled her desire to be an investigative reporter, with one extra perk--a badge. Promoted to sergeant, she returned to SVU a short time later. She retired from the job reluctantly--her husband drug her kicking and screaming to another state, but writing continued to call her name.
Red Lace is one exciting, sexy, wild ride. Ty Beckinsale is an alpha to die for from his fearsome exterior to his marshmallow insides. A heart stopping opening scene where Ty is knocking on death's door, to the ending scene where he is knocking on love's door, I never wanted to put his story down. His leading lady Faith pushes all his hot spots as she helps him heal body and soul -while he sets hers free. A must read, Kym Roberts knows how to write excitement.
I loved this book! I fell in love with Ty in Flirting with the Devil. Was so happy that he found his happiness! Faith is strong woman and is perfect for him. I highly recommend this book!
Red Lace has been at the top of my "want to read" list since finishing Flirting with the Devil. While this book can be read as a stand alone, I recommend reading the other first. "Flirting" sets the stage for Red Lace and gives you more insight into who Ty Beckinsale really is. Once I started reading this book, I did not want to put it down. I finished it in one sitting It has colorful characters and a few funny scenes. I caught myself laughing out loud too, especially at the grandmother, Rosie. I fell in love with her instantly. I don't want to spoil it for you so I won't go into detail, but I will say that I enjoyed the storyline Ty and Faith are both really strong characters with a complex past. The romance is well written. I liked how there is teasing and sexual tension throughout the book which leads to a really hot ending.
Another chance to walk in the world created with the "Noble Pass Affaire" series.
We first met Ty Beckinsale when he was the bodyguard/investigator of Sammy in "Flirting with the Devil". He was sadly bypassed for Sammie's husband Wade in the book and this book overlaps slightly with the end of "Devil" as we see how Ty was rescued after being shot by the bad guy.
Ty Beckinsale is hurting. After being left for dead and being saved by an angel, who he can only remember was wearing a red lace bra, his cousin pays for him to recuperate at Achilles HeAl, an upscale physical therapy centre. When h arrives he can't believe the attraction he feels towards Faith, his trainer.
Faith, however, has some demons in her past and a waaaaay over protective big brother, who has a bit of a history with Ty. Add in a protective guard dog and an interfering Granny and this is a wonderful book! I read it in one fell swoop and the characters just leap off the page and grab your attention. You will be LOLing over Rosie and her shenanigans and I'm now kinda hoping that Khaos will get a book of his own cos he badly needs the stick removed from nether regions!!!
Red Lace by Kym Roberts is the second book in The Hard Men of the Rockies series but can easily be read as a standalone. I can always count on Ms. Roberts to provide me with a book that has a fast paced plot, strong women and Alpha men that are complex characters, some humor (Rosie has my vote for best grandmother ever), and sparks flying from the sexual tension between the main characters. Once I started the book I couldn't put it down. Don't miss this one!
If you've never read anything by this great author this book will have you falling in love with Kym Roberts. It's the second book I've read of hers and I can't wait to read more. In this book you catch up with Ty Beckinsale that you meet in Flirting with the Devil and if you haven't read Flirting with the Devil I highly recommend you pick up a copy.
Red Lace is the long awaited story about Ty Beckinsale, the infamous and mysterious FBI agent, who stole my heart in Flirting with the Devil, another stand alone book by Mrs.Roberts, and Faith Artino the physical therapist who mends Ty's body but could break his heart. Ty represented everything Faith was afraid of and was also her only shot at living life to the fullest. Facing down her fears and learning to trust was impossible for her after the tragic death of her parents. To win her over Ty would have to be at war with both his infamous past and Faith's isolated walls. For a shot at true love he recruited help in the form of Rosie, his amazing grandmother, as well as Phillipe, Alena and Kas to convince Faith that he was the one.
Kym Roberts throws us right into the action from the start of Red Lace when Ty is injured, fighting not only for his life, but for the people he was supposed to protect. In the cold darkness of a snowy night, and unexpected angel in red lace saves him...then disappears. Is it coincidence or fate when they find themselves meeting up under much different circumstances? Heat simmers below the surface as their mutual attraction grows. There are unknowns, doubts, and trust issues in their path though, and they might just be too much to overcome, even if they both know what and who they really want.
This was the first book I read in The Hard Men of the Rockies series, and as much as Ty was, I was in a bit of a daze at the beginning about what was going on. However with a good pace and great writing, Kym had me drawn into Red Lace quickly and I enjoyed the journey I went on with Ty and Faith! They both have some issues that have brought them to where they are today, and I liked feeling like I was getting into their heads through dual POV's. The heat between them simmers. They are very attracted to one another, but the relationship is slow to build which worked well with the plot. This really highlighted the growth these characters did in the span of this novella.
Rosie, Ty's grandmother is a strong secondary character and I absolutely adore her and she works her way into everything!
The length of Red Lace was just right for the story being told. I liked that it started fast and just kept going! Hopeful, sweet and sexy, any romance reader will enjoy Red Lace.
Ty Beckinsale is an honorable man who does what's right and honors his commitments. Unfortunately he became the scapegoat for his Secret Service colleagues. His career went down in flames and people believed he was responsible for the death of a young woman. Now his job is to protect a federal prosecutor and her husband from a hit. He trusts the wrong person and is seriously wounded by one of the attackers, but he survives. Thanks to the mystery woman who saves his life. Now they're face to face. Can he win her heart? I liked Ty. His dedication and caring heart is amazing. I hated to see him suffer because of liars. His love for his grandmother, Rosie, made me fall for him. Faith save Ty even though she was afraid. That's real bravery. She lost her parents to murder when she was a child. She guards her heart and doesn't trust strangers. She feels the attraction to Ty but won't take a chance. Can he break down her walls? I enjoyed this novella. Ty and Faith are in a constant battle. I hoped they would let love in. I just wasn't sure how Kym Roberts was going to do it. the action is fast paced, the characters are likeable and the dialogue sizzles. Ty and his brothers are addictive. I'm looking forward to reading more of the Hard Men Of The Rockies series. I received a copy in exchange for an honest and unscripted review.
4.5 Stars This is a fantastic installment in the Hard Men of the Rockies series. This one had me right from the beginning. Faith has an inner battle with herself with helping Ty, but the good in her wins out. Now the two are thrust together when Ty shows up at her physical rehab facility. Sparks are going to fly, but yet again Faith has an inner battle with herself when it comes to Ty. I loved how the title of this book has a secret personal meaning between Ty and Faith. If Ty doesn't have you won over before the end then what he does in the last chapter will put you over the edge of team Ty. This book sucked me right in and didn't let me surface until I was finished. Highly recommend this one!
