Lies from her past haunt Kory, but that’s not her biggest problem. It’s the darkness slowly taking over. Can she stop it? Does she even want to?

It’s been one week since Kory was forced to do the unthinkable, a decision that continues to haunt her. But she has Rex by her side, helping her deal with the aftermath and mend her broken heart. He’s the only thing stable in her ever darkening world… or at least he was until his own past threatens to rip them apart.

Distracted by her emotions Kory makes a life altering choice, possibly dooming her to the worst fate imaginable and the only person capable of pulling her back from the brink abandons her. In her time of need she turns to an unlikely friend and together they discover secrets about her parents that send the already unhinged demon hunter closer to the point of no return. And when she’s at her lowest, a dangerous foe captures her with no intentions of letting go.

Will Rex uncover the twisted lies in time to save Kory’s soul or will she bend to the crushing pressure of her darkest parts, bringing him down with her?

JN Colon does it again with the 3rd book in the Iron Series! I can't get enough of the tough but lovable Kory and the intense heat between her and Rex. Although sadly there wasn't as much in this book because of the stupid "British twit". Kory is on her own again in this chapter and learning more about her parents lives. She discovers more and more secrets as she goes causing the darkness inside of her to grow after a terrible accident involving a human. But she's not going to let that stop her! I must say I never thought I'd like Kory's arch enemy Brett after everything he did to her in the first books but I actually found myself cheering for him. I'm getting more and more wrapped up in the story after each installment and I can't wait for the next book to come out. I think Kory's going to get into a lot of trouble at that ferrum school!

Definitely worth the read, but it's more 'in spite of' Kory and Rex's relationship rather than 'because of' it. Too much drama by half. Still worth it though. Love the different take. Also, I still want to stab the British Twit.

Book 3 had such twists and turns! All of my favorite characters were back thankfully. Characters that I previously disliked became likable in this book, and poor Kory has to experience even more trauma - I don’t know how she handles it all. On to book 4!

Favorite so far

This is my favorite book of the series. I finally feel like the plot is actually going somewhere, instead of being on repeat.

The Iron Series is definitely one of my favorites, so you can imagine my excitement and horror when I realized book 3 (Blood Lies) was out. Excitement because I absolutely love, love, love this series, and horror because it was released six months ago and I didn’t realize it. Ahhh.

Book 3 picks up soon after where book 2 ended and had me hooked from the get go. I didn’t want to put it down. How could I with everything going on, like the fact that Kory’s potentially turning into a demon and Rex hasn’t got his head on straight to help her out because of the “British twit” messing with his mind. Not to mention, the twists and turns, the development of an unexpected friendship/potential romance I’m totally rooting for, the bits of backstory to Kory’s past, and intriguing new characters at the ferrum school to wonder about.

I didn’t want this book to end, but now that it has, I say bring on book 4. And this time, I’ll be keeping an eye out. ;)

Wow, this was the best in the series. I literally could not put it down. Kory is one of my favorite heroines at this point. She is very realistic because she has plenty of vices that she totally owns up to and also some psychological issues stemming from her background that she admits but she doesn't let them define her. She is very strong and independent but this doesn't prevent her from seeking help when she needs it. Also, she has grown so much since the first book and her character has really developed for the better. She was a slight bully initially but she has evolved. I also admire how she reacts in accordance with the emotions and sensibilities that any girl her age and in her situation would exhibit. She gets angry and jealous and is tempted just like any other girl but the difference is that she always eventually makes the right choice. Her relationship with Rex is kind of epic. He is alo very realistic because he doesn't always make the right choices but his love for Kory is always quite clear. His boys are not too bad either, especially Mik. Can't wait to read the next installment. Kind of obsessed now.

After a tragedy involving a close friend in the last book, Kory's life starts to fall apart. And it only gets worse from there.

As Kory delves into the mystery surrounding her parents deaths, fates conspire to send her into a downward spiral that threatens to take away everything she knows and loves, including her hunky man/mentor Rex.

Man, this was tough to read at times. Not because it wasn't a great story or that it wasn't well-written, but it seemed that, for the first half at least, poor Kory was in a situation she wouldn't be able to get out of. (I was surprised by the friend she found to help her through, a very unexpected twist.) I can only wonder where the series will go from here.
