Borrowed this from the library. Simply a masterpiece. Coraline will always be my favorite book and movie, and "The Art of Coraline" was the perfect thing for me. It captured the creepiness and beauty from the other mother:

Any storyline that is about travelling to another dimension always captures my attention. A story I've fallen in love with in both book and film. I love the balance of both fun and scary. I think Coraline is a very brave and strong character. Everything about this book is enchanting, I was kept engaged throughout.

Coraline finds a door in her house,She steps through the door and finds another house strangely similar to her own "BUT ONLY BETTER".
The Genre of this book is Dark Fantasy.Coraline has (another mother) and (another father),They seem delightful and nice mostly a father and a mother that any kid would wish for but she doesn't know the danger she is in by walking through that door.Coraline's (other father) and (other mother) wants to CHANGE her and never let her go!. Coraline would have to fight with all her courage is she is to save her self and return to her NOTMAL LIFE!.

The setting of the book is Caroline's house. In the text it states that "Coraline discovers a door a little while after they moved into the house. It was a very old house it had a Aric under the roof and a cellar under the ground and an overgrown garden with old trees in it."When Coraline went through the door that night her (other father) and (other mother) told her if you want to stay "there's only one thing we'll have to do,so you can stay here for ever and always" her other mother and father and Coraline went to the kitchen table in the book it states that Coraline saw a China plate on the kitchen table was a spool of black cotton, and a long silver black buttons."The conflict of the book is when Coraline goes to save her REAL parents because her other mother had trapped them!!!.The theme of the story is courageous because Coraline Jones saves her parents and the other trapped souls!.

I liked the way the author changed Coraline opinion fro her other father and other mother is when she finds out that her other mother and other father are evil.She had no idea they were mean and evil but with the help of the cat and her they defeat the other mother and other father.

My favorite part was when Coraline found the door.In the text it stated that Coraline described the door like "The other big, carved, brown wooden door at the far corner of the drawing room was locked".Coraline was increased the door didn't lead anywhere she wondered.

I would recommend this book for people that like scary ,creepy ,fantasy.I thought the ending of the book Was scary and and good because it gave you that intense feeling that something bad was going to happen.

después de considerar Coraline una de mis películas de animación favoritas no podía dejar pasar más tiempo sin leer el libro y la verdad es que lo he disfrutado tanto como la película (aunque de formas distintas...) Es cierto que el personaje de Wybie es un añadido de la película que le da mucha carisma y dinamismo a la historia y que en el libro su ausencia se nota mucho... Aun así, eso no le resta encanto al libro porque Coraline como personaje principal es increíblemente valiente y su personalidad es única (aunque no sea la icónica Coraline de pelo azul y chubasquero amarillo). Además, leer el libro me permitió apreciar detalles que en la película pasan más rápido o se muestran de manera diferente y eso hizo que la experiencia fuera enriquecedora. Neil Gaiman hace un trabajo increíble creando el mundo de Coraline: es misterioso, mágico y tenebroso... y eso lo hace único.

Sin duda es un libro al que sé que volveré más de una vez y que seguiré disfrutando tanto por su originalidad como por la manera en que logra atraparte desde la primera página hasta el final...

Con una lección importante he terminado este libro: debemos ser valientes.

Cómo lo fue Coraline cuando enfrentó a la bruja, no perdió la fe ni cuando sus padres desaparecieron y aunque se sentía sola y triste no dejo de pensar en salir de su otra casa.

No importa cuál sea la meta debemos ser valientes y persistentes para llegar a un buen final. Así como el final de Coraline dónde no sé si sea feliz o triste pero fue hermoso su reencuentro y como enfrentó a la mano de la bruja.

Estuvo entretenido, pero siento que sin la película no tendría tanto éxito como lo tiene.

Por si solo, siento que no puede defenderse porque le falta muchísimo contexto para muchas cosas, cosas que en la película sí tienen respuestas o lo abordan más a fondo.

Sentí a Coraline súper chiquita, a mi me encanta en la película, pero en el libro la ame demasiado. Se me hizo super tierna y peque, lo que cambió la imagen que tenía de ella.

Nice short read with just a little spookiness as we prepare for the fall weather and changing seasons. Book is geared for kids, 8-12, but I'm a kid at heart so it worked for me.

Η κοραλαιν μόλις μετακόμισε με τους γονείς της σε ένα σπίτι με όμορφη θέα.  Μια μέρα η κοραλαιν Αφού οι γονείς της δεν της δινουν σημασία λογο φόρτου εργασίας και υποχρεώσεων περνάει από μια πόρτα με τουβλινο  τοίχο και μεταφέρετε σε έναν παράλληλο συμπαν όπου ολα ειναι ιδανικά και τέλεια και οι γονείς  είναι υπερβολικά καλοι μαζί της , η γάτα της μιλάει  στο σπίτι αγαπάνε τα ποντίκια και όλα είναι όπως θα φανταζόταν η κοραλαιν ότι θα ήθελε.  Τα πράγματα όμως δεν γίνεται να είναι τόσο ιδανικά τουλάχιστον για πολύ. 


Ίσως η ιστορία της κοραλαιν διδάξει στα παιδιά πως έναν κόσμος εντελώς ιδανικός και τέλειος δεν είναι πραγματικός θα ήταν ολα βαρετά και στην πραγματικότητα θα πρέπει να προσπαθούμε για να κερδίσουμε αυτο που θέλουμε. (Σελιδα 85) οι γονείς φτιάχνουν τον κόσμο του παιδιού οπως απέδειξε και ο Πιαζε και ο μπαντουρα ο γονιός φτιάχνει το παιδί.  Η αναφορά ότι η μητέρα έφτιαξε έναν κόσμο δείχνει ότι το μοντέλο προσαρμογής και δημιουργίας ειναι στα μάτια του παιδιού η μητέρα οπως και είναι η αλήθεια άλλωστε.
" πως γίνεται όταν αποφεύγεις κατι κακο να το ξανα βρίσκεις μπροστά σου" η αποφυγή δεν είναι λύση.  Στον κόσμο που φτιάχνουν οι γονείς σε έναν χαρακτήρα που φυσικά και έχει το παιδί με προσωπικές του αντιδράσεις το προστατεύει και του μιλάει . Του εξηγεί ( σημείο που αγάπησα).

Η κοραλαιν αντιπροσωπεύει τα παιδιά που κάποια φορά νιώθουν μοναξιά και καταφεύγουν στο να φτιάχνουν δικά τους παιδιά και φανταστικούς φίλους το οποίο αν το παιδί το ρωτήσεις και σου πει ότι ναι ειναι της φαντασιας μου τότε θα ήταν κάτι φυσιολογικό.  Επίσης ειναι και ένα μήνυμα για τους γονείς να ασχολούνται με τα παιδιά να παίζουν να μιλάνε να τους εξηγούν πράγματα και να περνάνε χρόνο μαζί Γιατί για ένα παιδί που νιώθει μοναξιά θα είναι πολύ δύσκολο. Η αλήθεια είναι ότι στην αρχή το πήρα λίγο στραβά το παραμύθι αλλα σιγα σιγα αρχίζω  να καταλαβαίνω το νόημα.  Το παραμύθι δεν είναι περισσότερο για μικρούς αλλα για να διδάξει τους μεγάλους.  Τι ? Όσο ζουμε μαθαίνουμε 😉😉

Like "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," "Coraline" is a tale that was created for a specific child/ children. Neil Gaiman first wrote the tale of Coraline for his daughters. Later, it would be turned into a published tale so that many other children (and adults) could also enjoy it. If you haven't read Gaiman before, you may be a little surprised that a tale for children could be so dark. For some youngsters, it may be too much, too scary. Some adults may even find it more than a little unsettling. But, this is partly why I love Gaiman's tales so much. Coraline just happens to be one of my particular favourites.

This particular book is the tale of the book, and then how the book was made into a film. Both literature and film are creative processes, and it can be fascinating to see how someone takes an author's tale and reimagines it/ brings it to life on the screen. This book is an absolute treasure for anyone who loves the book and/ or the film. It features a foreward by Gaiman, a chapter on the book, a chapter on the film, a chapter on the characters and then a chapter on the 'other Coralines.'

I love this book. For a fan, it is fascinating and beautifully produced, featuring lots of illustrations or original concept art, plus stills of the movie. It is something that I will return to again and again.

Coraline se muda junto a sus padres a una enorme casa, la cual comparten con más personas. En el piso de abajo viven dos ancianas junto a sus muchos perros y en el piso superior vive un anciano y sus ratones de circo.

Un día de lluvia Coraline está recorriendo la casa y descubre una misteriosa puerta, le pide a su madre que la abra pero al otro lado solo hay una pared de ladrillo… decepcionante.

Una noche ella escucha un ruido, descubre que la puerta ahora lleva a un pasillo y como es curiosa decide ir a investigar.

Al otro lado se encuentra con su casa, todo es idéntico, con la diferencia de que en la cocina la recibe una mujer igual a su madre pero en versión más aterradora porque tiene largas uñas y en vez de ojos tiene dos grandes botones de color negro.

Esta mujer se hace llamar “la otra madre” y es muy amable. Le da a Coraline deliciosa comida y la motiva a salir a jugar. Es todo muy raro pero agradable.

Poco a poco iremos descubriendo las verdaderas intensiones de “la otra madre” y Coraline se verá inmersa en un juego que puede costarle su vida y la de sus padres. Pero no estará sola porque contará con la ayuda de un carismático gato y una piedra mágica.

Coraline es una de mis historias favoritas porque a pesar de ser para un público más bien infantil, logra atemorizar a personas de todas las edades. Además me gusta mucho que la protagonista sea una niña valiente y decidida que lucha por lo que cree correcto.

Es una historia de fantasía que está bien fundamentada. No son solo datos incoherentes sino que logra convencerte de que tal vez podría suceder. Y eso le causará pesadillas a más de un pequeño.

Los botones en los ojos son mi detalle favorito, es algo elegante y aterrador al mismo tiempo. Además poder verlo en las ilustraciones aumenta lo horripilante.

Me propongo a leer los siguientes 3 libros en los próximos 3 meses:

2. Persépolis
3. Barrio lejano

Coraline is one of those rare movies you can watch over and over and again and be spellbound by details missed before. I adore Coraline character her childlike curiousity highlights many aspects we all face in life rare to find so open minded in a children's movie. Such as Coraline's lonely as her parents are too busy working and being left to explore the house by herself with loads of eccentric neighbours.

I definitely keep this book longer although it does go into a little bit too much detail at times. It did feel like I was reading a different book altogether. I did thoroughly enjoyed reading about all of the behind the scenes of the movie.

I love the original poster of the movie " Some doors should never be opened" it always sends a chill down my spine as I know what is lurking behind those doors in the middle of the night. I might see if I can find more of Coraline original merchandise listed in the book.

I did get this edition as a present for myself and I am really glad I did looking at all of the beautiful screen shoots of Corlaine from the movie looking at the story behind each scene is interesting especially as it is a stop motion picture.

Coraline y sus padres se mudan a una casa. A ella le encanta explorar. Pero pronto sus padres dejarán de dedicarle tiempo y ella se sentirá muy sola. Aburrida, cruzará una puerta que la transportará a un mundo paralelo, donde todo parece ser perfecto.

Descubrirá a su otra madre y padre, con botones cosidos en los ojos. Los cuales le ofrecerán todo cuanto quiera a cambio de que se quede. Pero no todo es tan bonito. Tras esa fachada, esconden algo muy oscuro.

Ella se verá en un dilema y tendrá que armarse de valor, coraje y sentimiento para tomar una decisión.

Acabará con botones cosidos en los ojos?

Un cuento con un toque macabro y siniestro. Diferente y con una protagonista muy especial y distinta al resto.

Este cuento, desde mi punto de vista, esconde una moraleja, y es que no todo lo que parece perfecto lo es. También nos enseña que el decir un "te quiero" puede carecer de sentimiento. Un cuento que va más allá de las palabras y dibujos, digno de tener en una estantería.

The story begins when she moves to her new house. A spoiler is that when the story starts to become fun, it is when she goes back to her other mother for the second time, and that is when the story begins to become more enjoyable. I gave this book 4 stars because it is fun, but I feel like in the beginning it is boring, but then later it is fun. One thing I really liked was when the problem started it and she started solving the problems would be the best part. The story could be improved by having a better starting point. I my opinion, it is quite boring in the beginning. My favorite quote was “if your mom said no, then it's no” because around that part of the story, her parent get to play with her more than work. SPOILERS AHEAD. Before her parent got taken away by her other mother, she got to talk with her mom before her mom left to buy groceries and got taken away.

WOW! This book was amazing! It was great because it's full of suspense mystery and even action! but it also has a moral and it teaches you important lessons about family and friends and how you should never give them up for anything else ever, because they are the best things in life.
the story is about a girl named Coraline who loves exploring and one day goes to a different world through a door in her apartment. She then meets 2 people who look exactly like her parents ecxept they have black button eyes the 2 people tell Coraline that they are her other parents and she should stay with them forever but Coraline does not want to and has to find a way to escape!
I recommend this book for 8-13 year olds

A children’s horror story, remarkable just for that fact. Neil Gaiman brilliantly portrays the naiveness of a child who believes she knows everything and that refuses to give into fear and desperation, showing bravery and character.

However it also has some lessons about adulthood and what it means to be human, especially when weighing out the things that are “important” to us. Through the eyesight of a child, who has not yet come to suffer from stress or disbelief, we are able to define the things that we actually care about and that we often forget to ackowledge, either because they are so readily available or because it requires the effort we tend to only put on meeting deadlines.

I feel a little bad that all of the reviews for this seem to be for Neil Gaiman's novel, and not for this book that traces the history of the novel and the film based on it. Jones is so enamored of the novel that he might not mind.

That is the worst thing about this book: he just gushes about everything. However, without that passion for the material, it would have been hard to get it done.

There is some good information in the gushing, but the best feature of the book is the photography from Laika of sets, scenes, and creation.

🌸Coraline🌸 trata de una niña, que vive con sus padres, tiene una vida corriente hasta que se da cuenta de una misteriosa puerta en su casa, cuando la abre, se da cuenta que tiene ladrillos y no lleva a ningún lado, pero ella sigue curiosa con esta puerta, un dia se encuentra sola, y decide volver a ver que hay, solo que esta vez no hay ladrillos, sino, un pasadizo oscuro. Que hay detrás de esa puerta? Qué pasará con coraline? Vean esta espectacular historia, muy recomendada! Me fascinó! Ahora a leer más historias infantiles, que con esta me he sorprendido.

Estuvo entretenido pero no se compara con la película que la estoy viendo en este momento que estoy haciendo la reseña. Le recomiendo si quieres una perspectiva pero no hace falta porque la película es mucho mejor que el libro. Me lo leí porque estaba en un póster que estoy completando y aparte me intrigaba saber cómo era. Lo recomiendo porque es cortito así que si quieres una lectura corta te va a gustar.

The book is perfect for people who loved both the book and the movie. Who wants to know more about the story how it was created and Neil Gaiman.
There are bunch of details about the path of the movie creation. It was so amazing and catchy.
I just sunk into the Coraline's world and it was magical. I have lived all the worries and winful feelings of the creators.
Lots of not obvious associations and details.

La historia es muy bonita y conmovedora ya que Coraline tiene que atravesar todo por sí sola, demuestra un gran valor y muchísima fuerza para ser tan pequeña, es un gran personaje y el gato no se diga, verdaderamente me enamoré, pero creo que pudo haber sido más extenso en cuanto al lore de la otra madre, me habría gustado conocer un poco más a fondo su historia ya que es un personaje muy intrigante y épico.

Coraline é um livro que me trouxe nostalgia. Sou fã da obra desde pequena, no caso, a animação, que, por sinal, é muito fiel ao livro. Só li o livro muito tempo depois de ter assistido à animação, e tenho certeza de que a história seria mais empolgante se eu não tivesse visto a animação antes. Mesmo assim, amei o livro tanto quanto amo a animação.

Todo bien con esta lectura, aparte tiene un peliculón. Totalmente insuperable este libro, además la historia no se compara con ninguna otra. Ideal para la spoky season 🎃 Solo 4 estrellas porque la película me gusta más, pero únicamente por eso. Fue totalmente distinto leer en inglés, en pdf y ENCIMA, escuchando el audiolibro a la vez, pero me encantó, así que lo voy a hacer más seguido 😁

A este libro le tenía demasiadas ganas, hace demasiado tiempo.

El autor, Neil Gaiman, era uno de mis autores pendientes y fijo buscaré como leer más de él, porque amo su prosa.

Coraline, es una niña que vive junto a sus padres en una vieja casona, la misma ha sido dividida en apartamentos para aprovechar alquilar a diversas personas. La familia de Coraline, sus padres y ella, y sus vecinos son sólo personas adultas, no hay con quien divertirse en el verano; Coraline es una exploradora innata y encuentra una puerta en el salón de su casa, una puerta que no va a ningún lado porque al dividirse la propiedad queda tapiada.

Lo que no sabe Coraline, es que junto a sus vecinos vive un ser de otro mundo, una criatura que desea consumir su energía y su alma como ha hecho con otros en el pasado y le ofrece tentaciones, como deliciosos alimentos, juguetes especiales, todo a cambio de dejar su mundo y que le cosan botones en sus ojos.

Coraline escoge volver con su familia al mundo real, aunque no tenga todo lo interesante y bello de ese mundo fantasioso y al volver su familia desaparece.

Enfrenta sus miedos y se dispone a salvar a su familia y a las almas de los niños antes atrapados por el ser malévolo.

Gaiman siempre ha sido conocido por dejar esos mensajes fuertes en sus historias, por eso era un gran pendiente en mi biblioteca y iniciando con este libro no me decepciona en nada, amo esos mensajes. Es un libro de adultos que todavía tenemos a nuestro niño en la piel.
