Soon after Victoria Castledon marries Major Charles Stanford, she discovers how unprepared she is for the demands of marriage. In distress she turns to the dashing renegade Hugo, igniting a sibling feud which will follow the trio to the battlefields of the Crimea and deepen until it threatens their very lives.
Hauntingly tragic but yet beautiful at the same time. Quite mesmerizing, it will hold your attention til the end that you won't want to come. Pub Date 17 Mar 2017 Thank you to NetGalley and Endeavour Press for a review copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
Not one of her best reads. I thought the Crimean war descriptions were excellent. I was disappointed in the characters, which is unusual for this author. I usually love her characters. These people did not seem real. They were like puppet images. I kept skipping through pages when reading about their love and feelings for each other. I could not believe this novel had been written by Elizabeth Darrell except for the war imagery.
