Hauntingly tragic but yet beautiful at the same time. Quite mesmerizing, it will hold your attention til the end that you won't want to come.

Not one of her best reads. I thought the Crimean war descriptions were excellent. I was disappointed in the characters, which is unusual for this author. I usually love her characters. These people did not seem real. They were like puppet images. I kept skipping through pages when reading about their love and feelings for each other. I could not believe this novel had been written by Elizabeth Darrell except for the war imagery.
