Trenton Hiser is trying to walk in the footsteps of his uncle, Mike Hiser, a successful Hollywood director. During Trenton's summer vacation, he goes with his uncle to film the inside story of Scarlet Thunder, a top-level stock-car racing team. As they film the action, too many things go wrong, deadly mistakes are made and Trenton finds out that much more than the race is at stake.
I enjoyed this book a lot because it had action and involved cars racing at high speeds. The length was just right, and I was into the book from the moment I started reading it. Highly recommended to those who love action and cars.
This book was kind of boring at first, but then it started picking up. There was a lot of description, high speeds, and action. The whole I time I was reading it, Lightning McQueen was popping up in my head. I loved how little Trent, dreaming of becoming a director, found out who poisoned them. Also, I loved how after all the troubles Scarlet encountered, she finally won the race! Overall, this book was good, and I enjoyed the ending that the author decided to write.
I thought the book was alright because it made you keep reading more. Also it didn't make scene at the beginning but then I started to understand more.
Scarlet Thunder, by Sigmund Brouwer was mainly about trying to make a commercial. The story takes place in San Diego. The commercial is based on Nascar racing but they ran into a problem. One of their orders for the shoot was shipped to the wrong place and they needed that order for the commercial but they found a way to work around that problem. I liked the book because it made me think about Nascar racing and about how they make commercials. I thought about how they make the camera move with the car. I really like problem solving books. I recommend this book to anyone who likes problem solving and nascar races.
The school librarian got me started reading Orca books. This was the first sports book I read and I enjoyed it. I will probably read this book with my students.
