Heroine Kiki Brill's family's land, (her home and heritage--the Kaapa Flower Farm), is being sabotaged by a series of so-called accidents. Hero Ryan McClain is visiting Maui hoping to buy that same piece of land for a client on the mainland. Kiki refuses to sell, but while spending time with Ryan, the two are becoming very close. As "accidents" and threats against her and the farm continue, Kiki begins to question what lengths Ryan may be willing to go to, to acquire the land.
This was such an enjoyable inspirational romantic suspense story set on the Hawaiian island of Maui. I love it when a book's setting makes you feel as though you are there, and this book definitely did it for me. I really liked the interesting cast of characters, especially Kiki's maternal grandmother (Tutu) who lived at the farm with Kiki. And the dog, Cody, was adorable. A very entertaining and suspenseful story.
Definitely an explosive story, as Kiki and Ryan first meet up. He’s trying to broker the sale of her beloved orchid farm to a developer, but his arrival is literally explosive as a fertilizer truck explodes at the farm! Things keep happening and Ryan finds himself being a gentleman and trying to keep Kiki safe long enough for her grandmother to decide about the sale. Along the way, of course, a different sort of sparks flare up.
Ryan McClain is trying to buy Kiki's family farm for a group of investors. Odd "accidents' start occurring to force the sale. Unfortunately the scoundrel is picked out easily and very early in the story.
I liked the actual story of this book. I felt that it was missing the actual romance. It would have been perfect if the characters would have had more intimacy.
