Invictus Security Volume One: FUBAR & Fur Rugs and Steel Balls & Stilettos

Rate this book
FUBAR & Fur Rugs
Navy SEAL team leader Lieutenant Jacob Asher 'Ice' Pierce knew first hand how deceitful and treacherous women could be. Needless to say he was not interested in hooking up with a woman so desperate that she sent emails to a man she'd never even met. At least he hadn't been until he'd actually read them. After that he couldn't wait to meet her.

And make love to her on a bear rug in front of a fire.

Catherine 'Cat Lady' Barker was not looking for romance when she signed up for the Adopt A Soldier program. She already knew what it was like to love a military man, so the last thing she intended was to get involved with a SEAL. But Ashe was everything she wanted in a man, so falling in love with him was the easy part.

Everything that happened after that was a total FUBAR!

Steel Balls & Stilettos
Navy SEAL Chaz 'Steel' Carrington was planning his most important mission ever. Winning the heart of the woman he loved. His roommate was as neccesary to his survival as the air he breathed. Since she did not share the sentiment, he was stuck in the friend zone with no way out. Before he can begin his campaign, a rival for her affections blows him out of the water.

He'll need balls of steel to get her back.

ER trauma doctor, Jenna 'Stilettos' McBride had been head over high heels in love with her roommate for most of her life. Unfortunately, the infuriating man persists in treating her like his best friend. Fed up with their complicated relationship, she's determined to win him over. Then the date from hell reveals that her best friend is not the man she thought she knew.

Faith once shattered can never be restored.

Spectacular, funny and heartbreaking!! ❤ ❤❤❤❤

I can pretty much guarantee while you read this you will say to your self "I wasn't expecting that" or "I didn't see that coming ". Although the story was short, it was insightful and packed with everything you want in a story. I loved the creativity the author used. The stories flowed from the beginning to the end leaving the reader wanting more.

I highly recommend reading! You won't be disappointed!! You will laugh and cry and want to ask Santa Claus for one for Christmas. Happy Reading!!!

I completely loved both the stories in this book. They were both completely well written and had fantastically developed characters. I enjoyed that both of them intertwined and gave you the third person point of view; I love to know everything that's going on and this point of view allowed me to know things that another character didn't.

The first story, FUBAR and Fur Rugs, introduces you to LT "Ice" Pierce and Cat Barker. Cat finds Ice in the Adopt a Soldier program and begins emailing him; this leads to him replying and them eventually meeting. These two are great together; Cat gets that as a SEAL he can't talk about missions or where he goes and Ice gets that crazy things happen to her....until one accidental email sends everything spiraling out of control and their relationship is FUBARed itself. The ups and downs in this book were great; even though it's a short story you still get a lot of action (both in the bedroom and in the sandbox/front lines). You'll love every page!

The second story, Steel Balls and Stilettos, is just as wonderful as the first story and has a lot more humor added to it I feel. You have Steel Carrington and Jenna McBride in this story; best friends who've lived together their whole lives and have a hysterical act they do at bars when the other has an unwanted suitor. Add in that both of them are completely crazy about each other and won't tell the other, and you have a romantic comedy with some steaminess!

I completely loved each story and I recommend that you get a copy now and read it. You will not be disappointed!

A Good Story

I just loved this book. I loved the writing and the verbiage the author used. I don't know why but some of the words she used literally made me laugh out loud. I never realized until this book how much authors use proper wording or proper sentences. I found this refreshing that language was used according to the proper feel or flow of thought or flow of talking. It almost like you are there amongst the characters and that they are normal people not some dream land characters who are just to good to be true. Tonya Brooks is moving up to be one of my favorite author. I just wish she could write faster because I am ready for the next book. Thanks Tonya for another great read.

Brilliant little gem! Cat has been emailing Ash with the madcap reality in which she lives. It's about the only thing getting him through his deployment. She is a walking disaster waiting to happen but he can't get enough of her. Once they meet they fall for each other fast and Ash knows he has found a keeper. But when a misunderstanding leads to an outing of their relationship on the WWW, Ashe snaps and sends Cat packing.

WIll the interference of a well placed and well admired ally help Cat to rein her SEAL back in?

There is bags on humour in this hilarious ride through Cat's life. I feel her plain as I'm also a born klutz! The pace is fast and it's a quick read but it does'nt lack in the story dept! Can't wait for more.

What a delightful read. I really enjoyed the characters especially the admiral and his use of phonetics, hilarious. There is a strong sense of humour throughout the book, combined with strong characters and a bucket load of holy hotness I found it great escape from the daily trudge. The only thing stopping me from giving five stars was the time jumps, I understand the necessity of them with it being a shorter book but I was a little confused at one point.
Like I said I throughly enjoyed and would recommend to anyone looking for an afternoon delight, but be warned have tissues to hand.

I was offered an ARC for an honest review

Oh my.....want more...

Wow..this Invictus was so exciting. Two stories. FUBAR & Fur Rugs was a cute romantic comedy with a SEALs twist. It introduced you to the main players and provided the background for the series to come. Steel Balls & Stilettos is the story of 2nd in command on SEALs team and his love. It provides the reason why the Team goes civilian and to war against the illuminati. If this book is any indication, the series is going to be exciting and I can't wait for the next installment! Ok, I have read all this author's books... I want more!!!

Tonya Brooks makes her characters seem so familiar you cannot wait to hear from them again. While not my usual preferred genre, I am always sorry for the story to end. Don't start reading at bedtime you won't be able to put it down.

Enjoyed both stories but what happened at the end? Liked Ashe and cat but couldn't see the point of the ending. Why let us invest in their relationship. Hopefully next book will provide explanation or tidy it up for us. Liked the books and style of writer.

beware. liffhanger

This book begins at the end,if that makes any sense?! Its book five!? beings with Cat and ashe, but speaks of the other SEAL team members with girlfriends and wives never mentioned before. It rehashes events spoken of in the first part of the book. My review may not make too much sense either. I was an intriguing story. BUT CLIFF HANGER ALERT
