Baby, it's cold outside . . .

'Tis the night before Christmas Eve and Holly wishes she hadn't volunteered to work the night shift. The weather is frightful and getting worse by the minute, and the same old annoying carols are blasting from the bookstore's speakers. But Holly's holiday spirit returns when the store's sexy new assistant manager arrives to keep her company. He has muscled arms, baby blue eyes, and a sweet pair of lips she wouldn't mind meeting under the mistletoe.

Sam is glad the snow is keeping away customers-it gives him a chance to get close to his favorite employee. Holly has always been a mystery to Sam, like a beautiful present he'd love to unwrap. When they're trapped by a full-blown blizzard, Holly breaks into the Christmas cookie display. Sam busts out a bottle of vodka from the boss's office. Soon the two are trading heated kisses-as well as secrets neither has ever felt safe enough to tell before. What started out as one naughty night together turns into something so much more.

Let it Snow was a beautifully written and enjoyable holiday read.

While working the late shift, Holly and Sam find themselves snowed in, they make the best of the situation and settle in for a long night.

description

Sam and Holly have been secretly crushing after each other but hesitant to act on those feelings for fear of being rejected.
That is until they're alone and with no other distractions they use this time to open up, talk and share their deepest feelings.

From the first page I connected with Holly. I loved her humor and sass, she was my kind of girl.
But underneath it all you could tell this girl had been deeply hurt, shutting out people was her way of protecting her heart.
It warmed my heart watching Sam and Holly connect, talk and listen without judgement. Together they found comfort, encouragement and love to look forward to a brighter, happier future without fear and shame.

Let it Snow was a quick, sweet and heartfelt read with characters that will bring out all the feels and leave you with a smile on your face.

I highly recommend Let It Snow.

I've only read one other thing by Jeanette, but I know a lot of people who love her words. This was the type of fun, fluffy thing I was expecting from her other book.

I loved Holly and Sam. I loved their banter and chemistry and yes, even the slight bit of angst. I throughly enjoyed their story. My main complaint is that it was too short. I could easy devour a full length book about these two.

Overall, a cute and quick read that is perfect for the holiday.

This review also appears at All About Romance: http://allaboutromance.com/book-revie...

At first glance, Let it Snow appears to be a fairly typical holiday romance, using the forced proximity trope to put two people in a position where an attraction between them is likely to lead to some sexual shenanigans. But the book has a surprising depth of emotion to it, making it not quite as lighthearted as one might expect while still delivering on its promise of a Christmas themed romance with a happy ending.

Holly and Sam work at a bookstore, and on Dec 23rd, their boss’s ‘open to midnight!’ pre-Christmas shopping hours means someone has to work late. Neither has any other imminent holiday plans, so they agree to stay and hold down the fort. As the snow piles up outside, it soon becomes clear that they won’t be getting out at midnight after all, the roads being already closed. Resigned to spending the night together, imbibing a few shots from the boss’s hidden vodka bottle leads to a loosening of tongues and the admission from both of them that they’ve always found each other attractive. When the power goes out, cocooned in their own private world, they share more than a few secrets with each other. This emotional connection leads right into a physical one. In the cold light of morning, will the fragile bond they’ve made be enough to create something more permanent?

Novellas have the tricky task of trying to provide enough details in a short page-count to forge a connection to the reader and make the characters own interactions believable. Since Holly and Sam aren’t strangers to begin with (having worked together for a while), it makes sense that they’d be willing to open up to each other. However it’s one thing to flirt with a friendly co-worker and quite another to go further, no matter the circumstances. In this case, what Holly and Sam have in common, besides being young (both in their early twenties), is their fractious relationships with their respective parents. For Sam, fallout with his father over his education choices has led to his abandoning college and working as an assistant manager at the bookstore with no clear grasp of what kind of career he really wants to pursue. His choices and lack of communication with his family have led to his estrangement, something he feels keenly with Christmas closing in. But Holly has definitely had it worse. Growing up with an abusive alcoholic father and a weak mother meant she sometimes bore the brunt of his rages, until at the tender age of seventeen she left home, bitter over the fact that her mother chose her father over her. Her upbringing has led to a distinct emotional wall that prevents her from getting to close to anyone and her dating life is sporadic. What Sam therefore gives her is two-fold – a chance to tell her story to someone who actually seems to care, and the return of trust in sharing his own . Holly can only wish she had a family like Sam’s who care so much about his future that they argue over it, versus her own parents who never cared at all. It gives Sam second thoughts when he sees his family life from her perspective. Once they’ve shared these painful secrets, their attraction spills over into a tender and very sexy love scene where Sam really does show Holly with his actions what he tells her with his words – that she is beautiful and worth caring about.

Of course, come morning, the worst of the blizzard is over but it doesn’t change what happened between them. It’s up to Holly and Sam to decide whether they’ll chalk it up to a night of unusual circumstances or see it for what it could be – a chance to forge some new Christmas memories. There is a delightful happy ending, and an epilogue that wraps everything up and leaves a warm feeling behind. Let is Snow is quite a lovely story and I’m glad I picked it up.

💝Let it Snow de Jeanette Grey

Argumento:

It’s about that time of the year when I start to immerse myself in holiday contemporary romance and I was excited to see one of my favorite authors coming out with one! I’ve loved all of Jeanette Grey’s other stories, so I knew I had to grab this one ASAP!

Holly and Sam are stuck closing the small bookstore where they work, the night before Christmas Eve, but neither of them counted on the snowstorm that appears to be keeping them trapped overnight. They’ve spent so many shifts dancing around each other and the attraction between them but stolen bakery items and a bottle of vodka has them admitting some things and sharing a bit more about themselves then they ever have… and kisses… lots of kisses!

It was so fun watching the connection between Sam and Holly build. The way they opened up to each other and shared things that some of their friends didn’t even know was just lovely. I loved that they both had these struggles in their pasts that they were still working on overcoming and that neither judged the other harshly because of decisions they had made or things they had done.
And I especially loved that Holly really laid some truth on Sam before they were set to part ways.

If you’re looking for a sweet, lovely, holiday read then make sure you don’t miss out on this one. In fact, I highly recommend all of Grey’s books to all of you contemporary romance fans. Let It Snow is the perfect story to get lost in this holiday season.

Holly is a geeky college student working in a bookstore. Attracted to the assistant manager, he's all kinds of temptation. How would someone so gorgeous and funny ever be interested in her nerdy self?

Sam is interested in Holly and he has been for some time. Why doesn't she see how pretty she is?? He thought she wasn't interested in him and that was so far from the truth.

Christmas Eve both Holly and Sam are pulling the long hours giving shoppers time to pick up that last minute gift. As the weather worsens, customers are few and far between. Both try to concentrate on work, but they are sneaking glances at each other on the sly.

When the police shut down the highway because of the blizzard, Holly and Sam are stuck in the bookstore for the night. They end up talking about liking each other, and when the power goes out, they snuggle to keep warm. When snuggling leads to secrets revealed, a whole lot more than snuggling takes place! Whew! It's hot in here!

What a adorable Christmas story! You go into Let It Snow thinking it will be a typical story with some sexual escapades etc., etc., etc. What we really get is more-so much more! Jeanette Gray does a great job of giving us feelings. Both characters have hang ups and we see first hand how they open up to each other by confronting these feelings. When things go back to normal, how do they handle what happened? Grab this gem and find out for yourself!

Review:

A cute holiday novella. Both Holly and Sam must work late on December 23rd for a small independent book store. It begins to snow and snow and snow. Before you know it, Holly and Sam are snowed in when closing time comes around. Holly has had a slow-burning crush for Sam ever since he had started as assistant manager at the beginning of the term.

To keep warm (and pass the time), they get into the owner’s cheap liquor.

“Next time she gets us stranded in her store for the night, the least she could do is spring for the mediocre stuff.”

You get the sense that getting stranded is not the worst thing to happen to Holly…

She was seriously going to have to thank Margie for making her work the late shift tonight. Suppressing her impulse to do a little end zone victory dance right there in her boss’s office, she refocused on her tasks…(to get lighting for the night and prepare for an evening of ???)

Having this night together (and you will have to read the details for yourself), allows Holly and Sam to explore their feelings for each other. Can they be friends? Or more? The unfolding of their relationship is steamy and sweet.

As often is the case, the next morning there is a bit of awkwardness. But we quickly get the sense that Sam is invested (even though an insecure Holly does not get that) especially when Sam convinces Holly to go with him to his parent’s house as it is very moving.

“They’re going to love you,” he repeated, full of a conviction she didn’t know if she could ever feel. And then he tilted his head to the side, and something in his smile fell wide open. “Just like I do.”

One thing that did throw me off though was the cover. The depiction of Sam and Holly was not how I envisioned these two young (essentially first or second year college aged kids) and that just bothered me.

As a first read by a new author, I found the flow and story line well told, engaging and leaving me wanting to read more by this author. So if you are looking for a feel good, a bit sexy, a bit sweet, Christmas themed quick read…this is the book for you.

Heartwarming, sweet Christmas romance

Sam and Holly are left working the late shift on the night before Christmas Eve at the bookstore they both work. Holly has a bit of a crush on Sam but doesn’t act on it, until, that night they’re snowed in and have to wait out the storm. They learn so much about each other and that the attraction is mutual.

The story unfolds with both Sam and Holly learning about family, and the tragic childhood from which Holly is desperately trying to heal. In each other’s arms, they find solace, understanding, and hope. Will the morning sun find them still feeling the same about each other? Is Sam the connection Holly needs in her life?

Let It Snow is a wonderful, heartwarming love story. And the epilogue just brings it full circle with a satisfying ending.

This was a cute holiday read. I could have used a little more set up with the relationship, but I was invested in Sam and Holly. I guess the heavy subject matter made me wish it was a little longer so that Grey could have really delved into what they were each going through. I do appreciate that we got an epilogue to round out the story a bit. :)

4.5 stars. A really cute, sexy, sweet novella. Sam and Holly work at the same bookstore. When they are snowed in just before Christmas Holly finds out that Sam really likes her (she was crushing on him, but not sure how he felt). The author takes time to show that this was not just a convenient hookup. A very well done story.

In a lot of ways, Let it Snow is a very cute wish-fulfillment story. At some point in our lives, we’ve probably all daydreamed about being stranded with the hot guy (or hot girl) that we desperately want to notice us as more than just a co-worker or fellow student or whatever fits the location where we met.

And we’ve all had that feeling that the person we’re oh-so-interested in is much too hot or popular or smart or whatever to possibly reciprocate our feelings.

Holly gets to act out that fantasy in this little story. But the course of true love, or even true lust or true like, never does run smooth. Not just because she can’t believe that Sam is very much into her, but because Holly has a problem letting people in. Casual sex is easy, no pun intended. But she has a history of sabotaging potential relationships because her past has left her with the indelible impression that she’s not worthy.

Little does she know that Sam has those same feelings about her. And about himself.

Escape Rating B+: This is a short novella that is very, very easy to fall into like with. And it is completely adorkable.

Holly is a college student, and a not very closeted geek. She tries to hide her nerdy interest in science fiction and Doctor Who and reading in general, but doesn’t hide it very well. And she works in a bookstore! Temptation abounds.

Sam is a big part of that temptation. He’s the assistant manager of the store, but he’s only a couple of years older than Holly. And he’s gorgeous. And cute. And funny.

Geeky Holly can’t believe that Sam is interested in her. She may be pretty, but she’s not model gorgeous the way that Rachel, the bookstore owner’s daughter is. College dropout Sam can’t believe that smart Holly could be interested in him.

Snowbound for the night inside the bookstore, they explore all that suppressed interest. But snuggled in the cold and the dark, they also open up all the secrets they’ve been hiding. And that’s what levels this story up from cute to very, very interesting.

But Holly can’t deal with having let all her secrets out in the cold light of day. She tries to push Sam away, until she just can’t anymore. Because he’s throwing away the one thing that she wants above all. When she calls him on it, they find they have something worth fighting for, and worth believing in.

Their very own Christmas miracle.

i'm a sucker for a holiday novella, as i believe has been established by prior posts. in let it snow we have the stranded by blizzard holiday trope and the good news is that it's not two people who have never met. sam and holly have been flirting on the job for a while, so when their boss leaves them to close the small bookshop at midnight the night before christmas eve, being trapped in the store by a blizzard gives them an opportunity to explore all that tension simmering between them.

holly is a bit of a geek and she's got a lot of baggage that makes her feel unworthy of most things. so she doesn't trust the attraction that sam feels as something real. not until he bares his own insecurities. the amount of sharing, the quick pace of the unburdening might not have worked had the characters actually been strangers, so i'm glad the author avoided that particular trope. because here we get an unexpectedly emotional and deep story. one that works in spite of the short format.

holly and sam clearly have a ton of chemistry and they take advantage of being all alone in the bookstore. this is a short but sweet holiday read. a great thing to pick up if you need a bit of brightening leading up to the holidays. also the sneak peak to grey's next full length novel, nine kinds of naughty, is so good, i'm sad that it's not releasing until february 2017.

Sam is the assistant manager of a bookstore. Holly has had her eyes on him for a while, but he seems to have his eyes on the boss lady's daughter, Rebecca. Holly avoids him and making a fool of herself since he's always checking out Rebecca's butt. Was he really checking out Rebecca or does Holly stand a chance with him?

Margie, the owner and her daughter, Rebecca leave work early on December 23 and leave Sam and Holly to work. They are busy doing various jobs when Rebecca notices red/blue lights outside which aren't Christmas lights, they are police car lights. The reason they are out there is they are closing the roads due to snow/blizzard!! Well, now isn't that cozy?! Sam and Holly are stuck in each other's company until the road is back open. Let's hope the power stays on...or not! Just when they are sharing a kiss and taking things to the next level the power goes out!! But, when they find all the supplies they'll need for the night and Sam wants to resume what they started; Holly wants to talk!!? WHAT!? During this talk they both find out they are lost souls. What will happen after lost souls spend one night together? Will it turn into more?

This was a well written novella! The characters were likable and the scenario could totally happen!! The only issue I had with this book is it was a novella! I wanted to know more about Sam and Holly and their lives!

My Quickie Review:
This is the perfect little holiday novella to read for Christmas. It takes place on the 23rd of December when the hero and heroine get snowed in during a blizzard and have to spend the night in the bookstore. Show me a romance reader who doesn't have this as their fantasy.

The two characters have been working together and circling one another for months, so there's not that build up needed between them, although it's quickly obvious that both of them have misjudged the other. Both characters have a history of family drama, but I liked that one of them was able to put the "drama" into perspective for the other. That was such a great "life lesson" to the story that I loved.

This is one of those style books that I love to read during the holidays. There were moments where I smiled while reading, but the characters had enough angst to make them deeper and makes you connect to them. It was a fun little read and I enjoyed it.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Secretly crushing on each other from afar, Holly and Sam find themselves snowed in for the night at the bookstore they both work at. Sam and Holly have been checking each other out for months but were unsure of where each other stood. That is until the December 23rd blizzard comes along and they have nothing but time to bring the truth out of each of them.

After finally acknowledging their crush on each other, Sam and Holly use the time to talk, share their life stories and their deepest secrets. For some reason they both feel they can speak openly to each other without being judged. It was touching to see them both talk and listen without being criticized.

Both characters have family drama which is a good portion of this story. I enjoyed that there was a life lesson to this cute Christmas story and that Sam and Holly got their HEA.

Let it Snow was a sweet, quick and heartwarming read that will leave you happy. It is the perfect holiday read and will make you think about your family.

With a name like Holly, you would think she would be more into the holiday spirit than she is. But all the holidays do is bring up a world of hurt, making her remember all that she walked away from. And now that it's the eve before Christmas Eve, all she wants to do is be home alone and wallow is her misery. Instead she's working at the bookstore, closing the store, while a storm is start to brew outside. At lease the good news is that she's closing with Sam, the super cute Assistant Manager, she's kinda had a crush on for a while.

Sam isn't too thrilled about the late closing either, but Holly has always been on his radar and with the storm outside, the bookstore is quite. Just the right time to try to learn more about the pretty girl he's had his eye on.

As Sam and Holly find themselves stuck at the store overnight due to the mini blizzard raging outside, the two find out there is a lot more to the other than what they see on the outside.

A Christmas tale about facing fears and learning to let down the guards of your heart.

This is a fun, flirty and heartfelt read!

Holly and Sam are two lonely souls snowed in together at the bookstore where they work, a few days before Christmas. They have been flirting back and forth for months and now being snowed in alone with nothing but each other for company should get very interesting. I mean, who wouldn’t want to get snowed in with a hunky six-pack-abs-having Adonis?

I love how Holly and Sam have similar hurts and that they both find the courage to confide in each other. For the first time in years the two are not alone at Christmas. They had great chemistry and I loved that their night together was not just about the physical. It was the start of something special.

LET IT SNOW is a short and sweet read that will keep you entertained and warm your heart. I’d definitely recommend you squeeze it in to your busy holiday schedule!

Holly is stuck working till midnight the night before Christmas Eve and so was Sam but she had to watch him flirt with the bosses daughter Rebecca. Holly has been secretly ogling Sam since he started but little did she know he was always looking at her too. The snow started falling and the boss Margie and her daughter left and Holly and Sam began to do the jobs the boss had asked them to do and when it came time to close up they realized the snow had fallen in feet and the road was closed down. Making the best of it Holly and Sam found some food and blankets and some cheap vodka and proceeded to wait out the storm. They began to discuss their lives and realized they were both lost souls and they became more attracted to each other and one thing led to another but Holly's past made her push him away in the morning. Will Sam get through to her and make her let him stay in or will she retreat and leave Sam alone?

Baby, it's cold outside, and all I want to be is inside warm with you.
Whew, this was a lovely little novella to get your holiday spirit pumping!

Sam and Holly pulled the short draw straw and had to work the closing shift at the bookstore they work at a few days before Christmas. The only problem? A blizzard descended upon them while they were busy stocking shelves, and are now forced to spend the night.
The real problem is how do you spend the night with someone you've had a crush on for months but haven't told them?

Sam and Holly fumble around their attraction over the course of the evening. They each have their reasons to be closed off, but when they open themselves up to be vulnerable, they realize love and understanding might be right under their noses.

A lovely holiday read to get you into the spirit of the season.

This Jeanette Grey storyline is guaranteed to reveal the heart and soul of her characters in a way that never fails to grab me by the heart and touch my soul. I savored every single word on the page because each glance and touch is a glimpse into the emotional and sexual intimacy that grows between two lonely souls. Holly and Sam have painful emotional scars that are revealed when the two of them are stranded together on a snowy December night right before Christmas Eve. As the snow piles up outside, their casual friendship blossoms, making this the perfect book to cuddle up with when the weather outside is frightful and you're in the mood for love.

Loved it. I'm usually eyerolly about holiday romances, but Let it Snow is a fantastic short read to get you into the holiday spirit.

There's enough complexity in both Sam and Holly's backstories that this isn't just a superficial retail romance hookup. These two have had their eyes on each other for awhile - we're just coming into the story as that slow burn finally gets set on fire....well, by a snow storm.

BONUS -- Let it Snow comes with a preview of "Nine Kinds...," the next book in Jeanette Grey's Art of Passion series.

Although not my typical go-to book genre, Let It Snow is a cute, feel-good, yet somewhat angsty in true Jeanette Grey style, romantic holiday novella that I devoured in one sitting. The characters are believable and, although I wanted to slap her a little, I loved Holly - nerdy, book-loving, damaged and still caring and witty. It's perhaps a bit cliche, but what good holiday story isn't?
