I didn't know what to expect from this author. I certainly wasn't prepared for the emotional mess or roller coaster ride of feelings she left me with! From crying one moment to laughing out loud, from wanting to hug and strangle the characters at the same time, to feeling like my own heart found it's home in the little town of Looking Glass Lake. She had me staring off in space quite a few times trying to take it all in and wondering how much more my heart could hold. I swear I found myself sitting at the counter in Moose Dimple Cafe chocking down a cup of Annie's awful coffee, listening to the town gossip on more than one occasion and loving the sound of Hoss's voice in the background. This story seeps down in your heart and soul, capturing you in its grasp and making you face things you'd rather not. All the messes you've ever made of your life, all the mistakes and heart aches you've ever caused anybody else. But it also gives you hope, hope that only comes from knowing that no matter what, God loves you with an unconditional love. That no matter your past, He is there with waiting arms to enfold you, to tell you everything's going to turn out all right because He's in control & He's taking those burdens on His shoulder. You'll walk away from this story with your heart lighter, your faith stronger and feeling like you've made new friends who can meet with you again for a cup of coffee anytime you wish! As for the love story between Matt and Lauren? Well, I can tell you, you'll be left with a soggy sigh that will tilt your lips in a sappy smile and your heart fuller than when you first stepped into the pages!
If you love stories that pull at your heart-strings, completely engulf you in a myriad of emotions, build up your faith with reminders of God's love for you, deal with the messy business of forgiveness, and introduce you to characters so real you feel you've made new friends, then this is the perfect story of imperfect people for you!
*I received a complimentary copy of this by the author for my honest review which I have provided here. Thank you, Rebecca for the kind of story that my heart craves! I look forward to many more. *
It took a bit longer to get into this book compared to "Love on the range", but once I got into it, I enjoyed it. People make assumptions about who they are and what happened without asking for clarification, and this story was an ideal example of this.
Lauren and Matt had a history but never sorted out their problems. This clouded their interactions until the issue was brought out into the open and dealt with. Working through the proposed changes to the town and resort while trying to solve problems, brought Lauren back to God and she relearnt to let go and let God be in control.
A beautiful story and I look forward to more tales from Looking Glass Lake.
I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
I was given a copy by the author and voluntarily chose to review it.
Love's True Home is a very emotional, and in the end, a very inspirational story of faith and healing. The main character, Lauren, left Looking Glass Lake nine years ago to reside in San Francisco and make a new life for herself. She wanted to leave the heartache of her lost love for Matt behind her.
Lauren is faced with the challenge of her life when her existing work for her boss, sends her back home to work with Matt and the rest of the town on a renovation project. She finds herself on a roller coaster ride of emotions. She must not only learn to trust the people she abandoned, but also to trust God again. I love how the story shows the growth of Lauren in her walk back to God and the healing he wants for her.
This is another beautifully written Christian love story by Rebecca Nightsong. I can't wait to read the next one.
I'm an avid reader of Kait Nolan's Wishful series, and other than the exact location this felt a lot like there. The same small town fighting for survival, the sense of community and family; a slice of classic Americana peopled with a cast of quirky characters that feel like your own relatives and friends. Before you sit down to read this book, grab a box of tissues. While I laughed at the antics of the people around Matt and Lauren, and I wanted to shake some sense into our hero and heroine on more than one occasion, there were also moments that wrenched tears from my eyes and nearly broke my heart. I loved watching these two learning to trust again: themselves, each other, even the Creator. I received a complimentary copy of this book.
I thought the first few pages about leaving the hospital were a little stupid to be honest. But I kept reading and within a couple of pages, turned into a really good story. I loved the primary and secondary characters and the small town community. There was angst, emotion and past history. I didn't want to put it down. I'm looking forward to reading the first book and the series and hope the author has more in the works.
This book outshines the prequel which I did not think was possible when I first downloaded. I thought what the heck I loved the prequel so much I would give it a shot. Boy was I really glad I got this book. Such a range of emotions. Have a large supply of tissues handy. I loved every word. Just the right amount of sass no matter from whom it came from. So be forewarned. I bumped the prequel to second place of the best book that I had read in years Love's True Home has taken its place. Such an apt title too. A complete delight from the word go. So ahead and download this book and find what this town and it's resort really means.. and if you don't like/love it I will eat the symbolic hat.
This author cannot write books fast enough for me. This is the second book I have read by her and, like the first book, I loved every moment of this book from start to finish. The different characters in her story were so original and well described that you could easily picture each one. They all had different personalities but all pulled together for the sake of the town at stake and the two main characters, who had issues of their own to work through with God’s help. I can easily recommend this book.
I definitely love a good enemy’s to lovers trope but I just felt as if it was dragged out way too much! I loved Matt and Lauren’s chemistry and bickering but I just felt like it went on way too long and her character development was put off too long. Maybe I’m wrong about that but I still enjoyed the ending.

This book has characters that seem real. The story was areal story not a fairy tale. I loved how she worked GOD into all parts of the story. I will be reading more of Rebecca Nightsong's books and recommend you also read her books.
Now, this is what I want when I read Christian fiction - put God front and center rather than shadowing the story with veiled references. Give me characters who are turning to God and embracing others in prayer. Show me the weak made strong when they turn it all over to the Lord.
After a sad childhood and broken romance, Lauren Rolphe left the town of Looking Glass Lake and all of its inhabitants. She's now a successful real estate developer and, at the insistence of her retiring employer, returns to Looking Glass Lake to make an offer to buy the town and develop it as a tourist attraction. Not everyone welcomes her back with open arms. She not only has to gain the trust of the town's quirky residents, but the man whose heart she broke nine years earlier - Matt Paycoach.
I, absolutely, loved this book! While the story mostly reads as a romantic comedy (my favorite romance sub-genre,) there were also many moments of immense heartbreak, swoon-inducing romance and hopeful redemption. As much as the heartbreak gutted me, I was moved by the loving care of the whole town, but especially Annie and Meg. In fact, I really want to see Meg get her HEA in a future book. Besides the wonderful story, this book is beautifully written and amazingly well-developed. In my opinion, it lacked nothing and I finished with a feeling of fullness. I waited a couple of days for the story to settle in order to write my review, but I'm still getting emotional when I think about Matt and Lauren's journey to redemption and love. I will now and forever be a steadfast follower of Rebecca Nightsong's work.
I was gifted an ARC of Love's True Home in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Love's True Home, written by Rebecca Nightsong, is book 1 of the Looking Glass Lake Series. I read the .5 book of this series that introduced me to the people that lived by Looking Glass Lake and what an eclectic group they are. This book focuses mainly on Matthew Paycoach as mayor of the town, holding a few other titles along the way. He's a handsome caring guy who grew up on a ranch and now owns an auto repair shop, along with being mayor, etc.,etc. We are also introduced to Lauren Rolphe who is from San Francisco, but grew up with Matthew Paycoach...actually they had been in love in high school. Lauren is now a big city real estate developer. She comes to town for her boss because he wanted the little town of Looking Glass Lake to be his own Old West playground in his retirement. Lauren doesn't realize all of the memories and emotions that will come with arriving back to town and meeting Matt on the way. There are some really emotional parts of the story along with a lot of hilarious antics pulled by Matt. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the series. I was gifted this book in exchange for my honest review.
Love's True Home is a great contemporary western. It reminds me of Mitford, only in the west. If you're a Jan Karon fan, you'll know what I mean. If not, then you're in for a treat. You'll find a community of family and friends that you'll long to sit down with and have a long chat over coffee and pie. There's love, acceptance, and forgiveness found among the banks of Looking Glass Lake. Have your tissue handy because you might even shed a few tears. I know I did. Nightsong has created a beautiful cast of characters that I look forward to seeing more of.
I was given a copy of this story in electronic form from the author. No review was required. No compensation received.
Love this book. Made me laugh and cry. Matt was so frustrating at times and so mean towards Lauren at times just trying to get back at her for leaving him years ago. Neither one wants to admit they still have feelings for the other and there are still hurt feelings they both need to talk about.
When Lauren starts going to church and believing In God again is when she really starts to heal from all the hurt she has been running from.
I could feel the love and pain and joy of all the people as I was reading. Made me feel as if I was really there and part of the town.
This is a lovely light Christian Western romance. I enjoyed the characters and the story immensely. Some of the characters I had met in her last book and they were just as quirky and loveable in this one. If you like Christian western romance you'll enjoy this story. I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I thought Love On The Range was a good read, but this is unforgattable. We see how even christians suffer huge problems and most times all i wanted from this book was for it to slow down, i was thrown a curve ball and before i could absolve tht one another one was thrown... Wonderfully written wouldnt have changed a thing
I enjoyed this book immensely, well written and easy to read. A flowing story with a great ending. No sex scenes, besides some kissing. God is mentioned and quoted quite often but it makes the story better.
A poignant story, but with so much fun .I absolutely enjoyed this book!! Adorable characters, and crazy situations....I laughed my way right to the end of the book .
