When Philly-born playboy, Jason White, discovers a devastating family secret about the identity of his biological father, he launches on an angry quest to find and confront the man. Will Jason follow through on his desire to destroy the man he believes left him alone and in poverty?
In Raleigh, North Carolina, the greedy and lecherous Bishop Quincy Stewart’s less than discreet history of deceit and all around messiness is threatened with complete exposure when he loses control over his manufactured persona. A chance encounter and life-changing lunch unlocks the chains holding Stewart’s wife, Lucy, hostage and sets the stage for a much needed shift in her life. In a desperate act to break his wife’s spirit and force her into compliance, Bishop Stewart does the unthinkable. Will Bishop Stewart go down for his horrific actions? Will Lucy ever be set free from the pain he has caused her?
The Camelot-like existence of popular and honorable Bishop James Collins becomes shrouded in an indefinable dark cloud when his wife, Victoria, invites an unstable element into their lives. Will Bishop Collins overcome being blindsided by the ugly truths he’s forced to face or will his life and ministry be forever changed?
I’m not a Christian, so the fact that I enjoyed reading Hidden In Plain Sight Sharon Moore says a lot.
I loved reading this right from the beginning till the very end. I especially enjoyed reading about Pastors and Bishops as it was a really unique experience for me. I’m generally a reader of thrillers, mysteries, and dark fiction, but reading this beautiful book was a great change of pace and I enjoyed it for the very same reason.
The writing was really good and had a really easy flow that made this book a surprisingly quick read. The plot had a unique simplicity and a depth that made reading this even more enjoyable. I was drawn into this book right from the beginning and was left craving for more at the end. It ended perfectly and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to end this amazing story.
The characterisation is good too. All the characters were believable I found myself caring for most of them. This book made me feel a range of emotions that I wasn’t expecting - happy at times and sad at the others, and t was mostly due to the brilliant characterisation.
The plot was excellent and the execution (per say) was brilliant. Author Sharon Moore has done a great job, especially considering that this is her first novel. I am definitely going to read more books by her.
I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series (and I really hope that the I get to read it soon!)
I’d recommend to everyone who wants to read a nice cozy book.
I was fortunate to be selected to receive an advanced reader's copy (ARC). I've always been an AVID reader... Shelves full...going to book signings, etc. I'm an advocate of the old fashion book with pages but in recent years I've become hooked on audiobooks. So when presented with reading an electronic copy I thought I'd struggle to finish. Wrong!!! Hidden in Plain Sight was a "page turner!" Author Sharon D. Moore brought to life a group of people that made me angry, frustrated, sad, and overjoyed. With a few lessons from scripture, she brought together humor, compassion, and jealousy to create an entertaining novel. I felt I knew the characters well, although I didn't expect some of their actions. If you enjoyed Church Folks or The Choir Director, Hidden in Plain Sight by Sharon D. Moore will not disappoint! I must stop my review because I'm afraid i'll give a spoiler. The book definitely left me wanting to know more....
Loved the book! I pre-ordered it and was given the opportunity to get an Advance Reader Copy. If you like television shows like "GreenLeaf" on the OWN network or "church" fiction books that bring the drama like Second Sunday by Michele Andrea Bowen, then you will LOVE "Hidden in Plain Sight" by newcomer Sharon D. Moore. It evokes emotions in the reader that run the gamut of laughter, anger, empathy, and compassion while twisting and turning your feelings about the characters as their stories evolve. Good or bad, you may easily find yourself surrounded by people you know in this book as you are drawn into the pages. My favorite fiction in any writing style or genre of themes must grant me my smorgasbord of emotions while endearing me one moment and inciting me the next leaving me anxiously waiting to turn the page to see how I will feel next...Miss Moore has certainly done that with this book and I anxiously await the next one in the series. "Hidden in Plain Sight" is a rainy-day, quiet time must!
I forgot this book is one in a series...bummer! I need to know what happens with Lucy and Jason. The author paints a picture of God working on both of them and I can barely wait for their victories. I feel badly for James; he made a mistake when he was young and dumb and God's brought him so far. How will his family and congregation receive his earlier transgression? An excellent Christian read; can"t wait for the next installment.
I was fortunate enough to receive an Advance Review Copy of the book. Once I started, I could not put it down. It is a great, thrilling ride. I loved the character development, and I could not wait for the next nugget of insight on the characters or the next plot twist. I'm very much looking forward to the next book in the series.
I love reading this book I couldn't put it down. I found myself getting mad, crying, and laughing. Please get this book you will not be disappointed. I look forward to reading more books from this author.
I started this book intending to read only a couple of chapters with my morning coffee. I was hooked and I finished it in one sitting. It has everything you want in a book, so do yourself a favor and pick it up!
WHOA, What a book. I wanted to give it five stars but was sorely disappointed that it ended in a cliffhanger. There's so many great aspects in this story but the ending dims it. Oh well.
Sharon really did her thing with this book. I stayed up all night trying to finish it because I kept wondering what was going to happen next. It kept my attention the entire way through, which is hard to do.
The contrast between the two Bishops: Quincy and James...was amazing! You have one that's truly doing the Lord's work and doing right by his people, and one that is just there to make money, steal and sleep around. Despite this though, one is left with a flaw. A son that he knew nothing about...but we will have to wait to see if that relationship will mend or if there will even BE a relationship between the two.
There's another character besides Jason who is dealing with a lot of pain behind closed doors as well. Lucy. I loveeeee Lucy so much an I just want things to get better for her. It's a classic story of marrying for a better life, and while she has designer clothes and fancy cars, her heart is hurting. She is not being treated right at all.
and I hope Jason can find some peace with what he's learned. I felt and understood his anger. I understood his pain and the feeling that it was James' fault as to how they had to live. It's a realistic view on how we live (or don't live) affects us in the long run. Where the pain comes from...where the hurt manifests. How the anger can thrive. I just wish it hadn't ended so abruptly! That is my only complaint. Can't wait to read the next installment. Literally ..I cannot wait lol This was an amazing read!
This was a good read. I was drawn in after the first few chapters, especially with the introduction to Lucy and Quincy. Talk about a wolf in sheep’s clothing and leading a ministry. SMH! And poor Lucy. I know she was in a strenuous circumstance but I wanted to see more growth in her character. I wanted to see her transcend her situation and preserve but unfortunately the book ended on a cliffhanger which I hated. There were too many loose ends that should’ve been tied up even if there is going to be a second book. Overall, I enjoyed the story and loved that it was set in my home state so I was very familiar with places mentioned.
Hidden in Plain Sight was an excellent read. The story moved along at a steady pace and I found myself invested in the characters and the story line. You do not have to be familiar with the black church to enjoy this book. The ending left us hanging, so I am anxiously looking forward to the next installment in the series. Hidden in Plain Sight would be great for a book club, with many topics that can be discussed within a group. Sharon D. Moore shines and shows her talent in this book. I highly recommend reading it.
