This is a great book that would be really good for young children and students to read to learn about the importance of taking care of our Earth! I love the real-life examples of things you can do to take care of our Earth this book gives.
Little Citter books hold fond memories for me that I love passing on. This one in particular is nice because it also holds a straightforward practical message.
Mayer, G & M. (1993). Just A Gum Wrapper. Wisconsin: Western Publishing Company.
Illustrated by Gina and Mercer Mayer
Just A Gum Wrapper follows Little Critter and his family as they learn different ways that they can help the Earth.
This book is intended for children ages 3-7 but I think it would be better used if read to children ages 5-9. The story would have more meaning and the students could give their own ideas of how to recycle and use other methods that can help the Earth, and then perhaps apply them at home as a small project.
