Gorgeous representation of one of the world's most brilliant artists! Beautiful photos of Michelangelo's work, many full page with accompanied comments and/or information. Book includes Preface, Chronology pages, Biography section, Epilogue and Index. Chapter two - four cover the artist's works: Sculpture, Painting, Architecture.
Michelangelo has been my favored artist since my youth, when he captured my heart and imagination with his David and Moses sculptures. Not only is his talent incomparable but his life story is also an amazing read. What an inspiration!

My daughter presented me with this volume as a Christmas gift and it has become one of the most valued gems in my library.
A must for every art lover!

I read The Agony and the Ecstasy, and wanted to see and read more about Michaelangelo’s art. An owner of many art books, I only buy those with high quality photos. This book meets those standards and includes most of the artist’s paintings, sculptures and buildings. Wallace’s writing is clear and concise, and his comments are insightful. The book is oversize and reasonably priced.

Although I've owned this book for a while, I actually read it as a companion book to "The Agony and the Ecstasy." The biography part was interesting, but looking at the works of Michelangelo while reading of their creation really brought him to life.

I’m starting to become fascinated with the “Renaissance Man.” How could Michelangelo have mastered sculpture, painting, architecture, engineering, and poetry? It’s incomprehensible. One point that comes out in this book, however, is that there wasn’t the dichotomy between math and art back then — art was mathematical, and artists were engineers. Interesting.

This book was an amazing companion to use while reading "The Agony and the Ecstasy." It showed every piece of art and architecture that Michelangelo created in his life and it was great to reference the art while reading about the creation of it in the other book. It is such a beautiful book and I love how big it is, so I could really study the art."
