Quick read, with a bunch of anecdotal components tied together in a quasi-chronological exploration of law enforcement negotiations. If it weren’t for frequent referral to the subtitle—the evolution of hostage negotiations in America—a reader might miss the subtle exposition of lessons learned across the continent. This book provides an excellent introduction to the real-life development of crisis negotiation fundamentals. If you want to know why the police do some of the things they do, start here!

Enjoyable/Informative

I recommend this book to anyone studying Law Enforcement or just criminal justice. Definitely respect those who are hostage negotiators more than before.

It told what it needed to. I loved the fact that the author is from Missouri. I also loved that it wasn't just big cities/states.
