In an age where it’s become increasingly important to instill more science and math in the younger generation this graphic novel could not have come at a better time. Kids LOVE super heroes so being able to use Superman to showcase the importance of science goes together as perfect as peanut butter and jelly. It’s an enlightening and enjoyable introduction to STEM for the young and young at heart.

The layout was well done with plenty of graphics to capture the visual attention while presenting the information in an educational yet easy to read manner. Using Superman and his powers to explain scientific concepts such as gravity, flight, etc really brings the information to life and makes what could be very dense, difficult to comprehend concepts manageable for a wide variety of age levels.

It’s a bit long for those on the younger end of the spectrum but it is thankfully broken up into smaller sections and topics so you could easily go over it in small bites to avoid attention overload. It is definitely one of those books that you can use in a wide variety of ways and return to time and again without boredom. It’s a must have for teachers and parents particularly if you then watch the latest Superman movies and apply the information from the book to what they see so you can increase the fun. Who says Hollywood can’t be educational? :-)

'Superman Science: The Real-World Science Behind Superman's Powers' by Agnieszka Bishup and Tammy Enz is a non-fiction look at the world around us.

Using Superman's core powers, the book is divided into four chapters called Soaring the Skies, Seeing Through Walls, Outrunning Bullets, and Stopping Runaway Trains. Within these chapters the reader will learn how science mimics these powers, how our own bodies work, and where these powers can be found in nature. There are various pictures of Superman, and lots of pictures of animals and inventions.

I like this approach to teaching science. Pick something kids are interested in, then show the real world counterparts where they can be found. It's the sort of non-fiction book I would have liked back in the 3rd or 4th grade.

I received a review copy of this ebook from Capstone Young Readers and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

Superman Science is an amazing book that uses Superman’s powers to show you how science works! The book uses modern science to teach you how some of Superman’s powers can be a reality, such as flight (which we already accomplished), strength, and speed! Did you know the Anna’s hummingbird experiences 10 g’s when it pulls up from a dive? If you were launched into space in a rocket, you would only feel 8 g’s! There are many other facts like this, some for fun and others for science! Superman Science is the book for Superman fans and science lovers combined! If you AREN’T a Superman fan or science lover? I still recommend this book to you! Just crack open the pages and get ready to be amazed!

I really like how this book was laid out. Both graphically and the way the information was presented. Just in the section on flight they break down gravity, if Superman’s cape is like a set of wings, and even how Superman is like, but different from a maple seed. The book is a little bit long, but things are broken up so nicely that the reader can stop and start when they want/need. Topics covered include flight, sight, speed, strength. I think this is a great book to get kids interested in STEM science, while appealing to their desire to be superheroes.

This book is great if you have a reluctant science learner but one who loves super heroes! I read this to my fifth grade son, who couldn’t wait to start this book. Each day, he actually enjoyed reading science instead of dreading it. The book did a really good job of explaining physics and other concepts in a simple way that was relatable to super heroes. The illustrations are colorful and perfect for visual learners!

For children to be amazed at the technological innovations!
This fun and fantastic educational book teaches children about different technological advances by associating them with Superman's powers.
It contains historical information on the practical application of scientific knowledge that result in important advances for humanity. It is not only our children to learn and be well informed, increase their knowledge and culture, but they can visualize the importance of generating knowledge is a collective effort where many people have participated. Accordingly, we can also cultivate the values of cooperation, teamwork, perseverance, contribution, creative application of scientific knowledge, among others, at par the children are astonished at the practical and novel applications of science.
My gratitude to the Publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to review the book

Superman Science explores how real-life science and engineering relate to the Man of Steel's famous powers. In this science book readers learn about X-rays, speed, strength, and more. Each super power is examined through the lens of real-world science. Young readers will appreciate the comic-book style illustrations juxtaposed with real-world photographs, and information that is offered in short paragraphs. Accessible and appealing, this is sure to be a popular addition to public and school libraries’ STEM collections.

*I received an e-arc of this book from Netgalley, in exchange for my honest review*

This book was cute. Mainly, it goes about explaining Superman’s powers in the real world context. He flies so this is a simplified version of how planes work. He’s strong here’s world records of strength. Most connections are basic lessons of physical science, historical feats, and connections to different animals.

The layout and organization is really well done. It did feel overly dumbed down in places, but that may just be my AP brain. This is meant for younger children after all. Though, in a lot of places, it felt only tangentially connected to Superman. Superman was the jumping of point to learn the science, but he wants the main focus it felt.

I think the reason I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I could have is I forgot it was targeted for much younger children, and so the fact that everything was so simplified and truncated made me feel patronized.

I think, if your 10-14, maybe a little younger or older depending on reading level/sciences you’ve taken, you’ll like this. Especially if you like Superman or you like learning. But if your the kind if person who takes AP sciences courses, you won’t get much out it.
