When regret of one decision from your past alters the direction of your life… After a long winter in the remote Teton Mountains, Anna Porter is convinced that she’s not cut out for wilderness living. Her heart yearns for a place where she’ll feel at home, and she’s ready to continue the journey she started a year ago along the Oregon Trail. Without an escort, she may be forced to marry a stranger out of necessity . . . until the least likely man agrees to accompany her. Ethan Wilder has spent the last twelve years living with guilt and painful memories. Determined to prevent anyone from getting through his angry exterior, he remains distant and callous, even with those closest to him. When a series of mishaps brings him in close contact with the quiet woman who has spent the winter on his homestead, he believes the only way to get her out of his thoughts is to take her as far away as possible. The best laid plans don't always work out as expected, as Ethan and Anna soon discover. Traveling to a new land brings two hurt and lonely people together in the most unexpected way. If Anna can chisel through the granite wall Ethan has built around his heart, home might be closer than she ever imagined. *** mild language, mild violence, intimacy (non-descriptive) between married adults. I never thought I'd be a writer, much less publish a book some day. I always wanted to be a veterinarian. I guess life just had other plans for me. When my husband and I decided to start a family, vet school pretty much went out the window. I used to work with a vet who had three children while going through vet school. To this day, she is my hero.

I live with my husband and two teenage sons in southern California. I have a Welsh pony and a miniature horse (down-sized from a barn of six horses). A crazy Labrador retriever who is a food vacuum, three cats, two parakeets, four bearded dragons (my compromise with my sons when they wanted a snake), and a small flock of chickens complete our menagerie of critters. I can’t imagine my life without my animals. My dream is to live in Montana some day.

Four years ago, I began writing a story that, for whatever reason, was stuck in my head for almost a year. I have been an avid romance reader for a long time, and the idea took hold to - why not? - write my own! What a simple idea, right?
It has been a long and difficult journey from my first sentence to a completed, and hopefully polished, manuscript. Today, I have a completed series of 5 books and a novella in what I called The Yellowstone Romance Series, two books in my new Second Chances Time Travel Romance Series, and I am currently working on the final book in a trilogy set in the Grand Tetons.

** Complete disclosure, I actually listened to this book on Audible. Cody Roberts does an amazing job with Peggy L Henderson's books! I listen to them at 1.25 (slightly sped up), and I can't get enough of his voice doing her books!

"Anna's Heart" did not disappoint. People who don't like these books because they are "predictable" or "use the same plot with different names" are dead wrong! There are always twists and turns in Peggy's well researched books! As I've said over and over with her books, I truly appreciate that she's researched her books and they are believable and historically accurate!

This book made me laugh in several places -- we all know that "Miss Know-it-all" and this one didn't disappoint! Anna and Ethan's story was enhanced with the other "characters" on the wagon train!

On to book 3...

Another great story

This is the second book in this series and it did not disappoint. It was good reading from the first word until the last. I can’t wait until the next book in this series is finished. I am not one to give away any of the story but will say if you enjoy clean frontier stories that include adventure and romance, I think you will enjoy reading this book. There are a very few swear words in it,
which weren’t too bad and not used often and after the first book I suspected they would be in this book, too. I do wish they had been omitted as the story would have been just as good without them.

A disappointing series from Peggy Henderson. Hopefully it was her first. It was shallow, with very little attempt to fill-out the main characters. Most of these romances are predictable, with changes in names, personalities, locations, and crisis situations. Predictable, yes. That's why most of us pick them up - a bit of down-time for our brains while we go through our busy lives.
This book, however, doesn't qualify as a good short story in my opinion. I had the sense that words were thrown down on pages in order to have something to sell. That made me sad.
What also made me sad is the potential this had for being a good romance. With some details and imagination, it has the makings of a decent story. Instead, it's a "oh-what-could-have-been novel.
Cody Roberts narrated the audible format, which would have been as least pleasurable to listen to.
A D-. Sorry, Peggy, this barely passed.

Sweet, clean story. But my biggest pet peeve is when women in historical fiction face MODERN problems or situations. "I need to go to Oregon to find myself." Really? You have no one there waiting for you, no job lined up or any other way to provide for yourself, but you need to leave a safe environment to go "find yourself." No. You're talking about a time when women couldn't vote or even own land. How is marrying a stranger just to get you to Oregon "finding yourself"? And then to talk about heading back East to go to college? Seriously? Did you crack open a history book at all? Even if it had been common at the time, it still would have been very expensive.

Another wonderful tale of the vast wilderness surrounding the area of the Tetons by Ms Peggy L Henderson. With lovable, laughable and irascible characters, an exciting story line laced with adventure and romance, this was an easy to read beautiful escape for the time it took to travel through the pages of this story. Another tale you don't want to miss from Mrs Henderson. I can't wait to read the next story soon to come from Mrs Henderson in this series. It should be noted that this and the former in this series, can easily be read as a stand-alone.

A captivating sequel to Cora’s Pride

Anna Porter headed west with her best friend and her sisters. When Cora met & married Nathaniel Wilder, they all wound up in the Wilders’ mountain homes. A year of living in relative seclusion with the Wilders has led Anna to decide to continue on toward her original destination of Oregon. The oldest Wilder brother & by far the gruffest, Ethan offers to see her back to the nearest fort. What happens then is the heart of this book. Another great one by Peggy L Henderson!

Nathaniel and Cora promised Anna that Nathaniel would take her to Fort Hall to head to Oregon. But Cora is now expecting and needs to stay with Cora till the baby comes. Anna and Ethan, Nataniel's older brother seem to always argue about everything. But when Anna gets lost in the woods, Ethan goes to find her. They return together after being stuck in a storm and they now seem to get along better. So Ethan finally agrees to take her. You can expect all kinds of things happening along the way. Enjoy their adventure!

Wonderful!

I loved this series! I have been a huge fan oh the Yellowstone series and was excited to see these books by Peggy Henderson. She is a great author and really brings the west to life with her descriptions and plot and especially the characters we meet along the way. All the books link to each other in some way and we see favorite characters pop up from time to time! Lovely read!!!

I couldn't put it down

This story grabbed my attention and held it. Anna and Ethan's unlikely relationship has so many snags, yet you keep rooting for them. I enjoyed how Ethan found himself volunteering to escort Anna on the wagon train. I love it when characters from other books come for a visit to.

Great Read

This is a great read! I truly like stories that take place in the era of the”mountain man”. Am loved reading Cora’s story which was a lead in to this one. Peggy is a gifted author who has the ability to weav the storyline in such a way to capture and hold ones interest from beginning to end.

predictably good

Surly Ethan and heartbroken Anna - the two most miserable residents of Harley's Hole, want nothing to do with each other. Anna's set on leaving, but requires a man to protect her. Ethan volunteers against his better judgement, and things progress as you might expect. Peggy Henderson makes the journey interesting, and I liked this tale of true love.

My five-star rating would be a ten if possible. The compelling plot, twists and characters of "In His Kiss" captured my attention, imagination and, ultimately, my heart. The seemingly slow beginning provided key context from which the story unfolded to a glorious end

A Western romance, with most of the characters introduced in a previous book written by Ms. Henderson. This was a good read, fast, and a nice change from some of the other books that I have reading.

Left me wanting more

Good story but it was way to short. I wanted more and deeper character development. I will certainly read more of her books.

I listened to this on Audible. I thought the story was boring. The narrator was okay. I won't listen to the other books in the series.

I loved this story about Anna and Ethan. If you read Cora's Pride, Anna and Cora are more like sisters then best friends but Anna just doesn't fit in this wilderness life. She wants to leave and go on to Oregon as they wanted to do before they met Nathanial, one of Ethan's younger brothers.
Now that Nathanial and Cora are married and all are living at the Homestead of Harley's at Harley's Corner., Anna can't wait to leave. Nathanial had promised to get her safely to Oregon but now can't so he convinces his older brother Ethan to do it. Well Ethan and Anna can't seem to stand one another. She is a beautiful and very helpful woman and he is more of a recluse rather not wanting these women around. Well things go from bad to worse and then Nathanial convinces his brother why he needs to take her to at least the old Army post so she can join another wagon train. Problem is no wagon train is going to take a non married woman along.
I love how this story takes on so much at this point and even before while still at the homestead. Can you see these two going anywhere together and survive each other? I couldn't that is for sure.
You first need to read Cora's Pride before you read Anna's Heart so you know the whole story so far. Both are fantastic stories and you won't regret either of these stories or any of Peggy's stories as they are all fantastic.
Surprises galore, adventure galore, problems galore exist in all of her books and she weaves tales brilliantly.
I highly recommend this story as all of Peggy L. Henderson's stories. She is truly a brilliant author.

Anyone who has read Cora's Pride, the first in the Wilderness Brides series, will have been eager for the story of the sweet, but sad, Anna whom we suspected would end up with the sullen oldest Wilder brother, Ethan. And their story was certainly worth the wait! Both of them are living with pain and guilt form their pasts which is preventing them from moving on in their lives and allowing them to open their hearts to love. Through a series of sometimes humorous events this book allows us to see their personal and joint journeys to their Happily Ever After together. Peggy Henderson has written their story with sensitivity, and seeing them finally make it out of their dark places into happiness with each other was such a heartwarming experience.

It was also lovely to catch up with the rest of the Wilder and Hudson families, as well as a couple of other much-loved characters. There is also a host of secondary characters who definitely serve to make the story memorable and interesting.

With each book Mrs Henderson's writing just seems to get better and better. Now we'll all be waiting in eager anticipation for the next instalment of Wilderness Brides.

Anna and Ethan's story is a very sweet and frustrating story. Ethan is a typical man - stubborn and brooding. His past has definitely influenced the man he has become but is that the man that he wants to be? Can anyone crack the deep places in his heart and draw him out of his pain? Anna has a past of her own - her fiance passed away and she traveled from Ohio with her friend Cora to start anew. Anna has spent the time with Cora's family in Harley's Hole, but it's time for her to move on to Oregon and start her life. She's restless and needs something more in her life. Anna needs someone to take her to Fort Hall so she can join a wagon train. Ethan, ready to be rid of her, agrees to take Anna since her presence is unsettling to him.

Peggy L. Henderson does a spectacular job, as always, drawing the reader in and presenting a story that cannot be put down until the end. Ethan and his resistance is frustrating and I wondered if Anna was ever going to break through the darkness that surrounds him and find the man within. This book did not disappoint and I was frustrated again when it was over because I'm a greedy reader who always wants more, more, more! I'm ready for book three!

Anna came out west with her friend Cora for a new start in Oregon. She was living in the past and so filled with unfounded guilt for her fiancé's death.

Ethan was living for years with a wall around his heart and feelings as his unfounded guilt for the loss of his family when he was young.

When Anna and Ethan met each other they completely ignored each other until accidents started to happen.

Would this push them further apart, make them angrier add to the wall around both their hearts?

Would their hearts be stronger and reach out for the other? Could they ever become civil to each other? Could they ever let their heart ever feel love again?

This was a good story that made you angry at how hard Ethan was, but love him at the same time.

Interesting things happen that make everyone see tings in a different light.

Another great story from a great author!

Another stellar story by Peggy. I had no idea how Anna and Ethan, two emotionally scarred individuals, would find peace and love but I was excited to find out. Their story certainly took some interesting turns.

I absolutely love it when Peggy has her characters cross over from other series'. Having both beloved and hated characters visit gave this story added dimensions and also made me want to immediately go and listen to the other series' again. The dilemma is that I don't know which one because they are all so good!

Cody Roberts did a fabulous job, as narrator for the audio-book, bringing the characters to life. I actually got hiccups because of his portrayal of one woman who was a real freight train!!!

Loved it!

Ms. Henderson is an amazing writer, I've loved every book I've read by her so far, and this new edition does not disappoint! I love how she managed to interweave the stories of her various series, cameos are so fun. :)
Anna's Heart is the second book in Ms. Henderson's Wilderness Brides Series, which started with Cora's Pride, and follows Anna and Ethan as they journey west towards Oregon. This story has humor, passion, adventure and tension, and is overall a great read.

Anna's Heart (Wilderness Brides Book 2)

Another winner by my favorite author. I loved the storyline, the hero and heroine, along with all the secondary characters. Having a few special characters making an appearance, some good, some bad...just added to the enjoyment of reading this book! As always, you can read this as a stand alone, but so much fun if you read Cora's Pride Book 1, first. JudyE
