Old friends reunite while old enemies resurface in the fourth book of the Hells Saints Motorcycle Series.
Over three years ago, Glory Thomas saved Raine Winston’s life by rescuing her from the hands of Gino Abiatti— kidnapper, killer and all around bad guy. That fateful night set Glory on a path filled with violence, murder and redemption. A path that led her straight through the Hells Saints doorway. And straight into the arms of Jules Bonny.
As Sargent at Arms of the Hells Saints MC, Jules has seen a lot of bad things. And done a lot worse. But nothing plagued his conscience or gnawed at his soul until the day that Glory walked into his life. Or, more exactly, until the day that Glory walked out of it. And now she is coming back to where it all began. Back to Crownsmount. Back to the lake house. But not back to him. Not back to him. And he has absolutely no idea what to do with that.
Hey all, Just a few quick words about me. I was raised on the North Shore of Boston and born in Salem. Yep that Salem! My childhood neighborhood was filled with kids and there wasn't one part of it that wasn't magical. I draw a lot on those memories when writing. My latest book, Trailer Park Girls, is dedicated to my first grade teacher. When I finished college I settled in the beautiful Berkshires of Massachusetts where I raised my children and settled into a career in teaching. I wrote my first book, Raine Falling, in 2014, and have been writing ever since!
Saving Glory is the 4th book in the Hells Saints Motorcycle Club series, and it revolves around the relationship of Glory and Jules. I have been waiting for this story for a long time, and once again, Paula Marinaro does not disappoint. It has been a year or so since Glory walked away from the club to take care of her brother who was wounded in Kandahar. When the Hells Saints President, Prosper, comes knocking on her door and makes an offer she can’t refuse, she finds herself heading back to the club. Although she is anxious to be back with the club family, she is nervous about seeing Jules again, the man she turned her back on and left behind.
Jules is still hurting over Glory leaving. Why did she leave him, or better yet, why didn’t he go after her. When he sees Glory for the first time, he knows what he has to do. Yes, he is still a bad ass biker, but he realizes how his misogynist ways pushed Glory away and he is determined to change. I love being back with the Hells Saints and visiting with all the couples from the previous books, especially my favorite President, Prosper. I am hoping this is not the last of the series, maybe a book on Hal/Valentina or the story of Prosper and Pinky?
This book is an easy read and I highly recommend it to everyone. I am not sure if you should read it as a stand-alone, you may get a little lost. I suggest you read at least Raine Falling and Chasing Claire so that you fully understand the characters and their relationships.
I guess the most amazing thing about this book is that the über man-ho H, who got "the clap" from a clubwhore OW and carried 6 condoms in his wallet so he was always prepared, managed to not cheat on his h in their book like he did in the previous 3 books.
I'm also guessing the author thinks that it takes a strong, confident h to never call her man on that shit and enter a friends with benefits arrangement with him cuz they both acknowledge his inability to man-up and be in a committed relationship with her.
I call that doormat...but, you know... po-TAY-to, po-TAW-to ...(o_O)
Trying not to feel my stomach roll over the help the H gets from the h's brother in getting them back together. In the previous books, the H whored around on her repeatedly and rubbed it in her face daring her to say shit. Mind you, she'd been abducted, beaten, and raped at the time they met and she was trying to find normal and still feeling a little off kilter from "the event" - h's words. No shit. Just the normal range of PTSD idiosyncrasies to draw from to drive you crazy every once in a while.
None of the men in this series had any patience, tolerance, or true understanding of the range of emotions, reactions, and ways of healing/coping each of their heroines experienced. The H's were often rude and lacking compassion and then proceeded to fuck other women because, hey, their bitches weren't toeing the fucking line...cuz you know, those "bitches" weren't recovering from major life trauma or anything.
And the worst part of all...the really heartbreaking part...everyone of the h's...total fucking doormats. Never really calling their men out for cheating, NEVER making them grovel. Each chick almost ended up having to grovel to her man to get him to take her back FFS.
This pair split because she catered Italian Mob events. His MC is in bed with the Italians, but he told her she couldn't cater their events. The Prez's sister could date and go into business with the head of the local Italian Mob, but the h couldn't cater their events and when she refused to stop...cuz they paid the best and no one else really hired her services...the H broke up with her (in book 2) and the H preceded to hook up repeatedly with OW rubbing his sexual conquests in the h's face until she quit coming to MC events CUZ IT WAS PAINFUL and she left town. Even book 3 had gratuitous sex scenes with the H and OW :/
Oh, I forgot, the reason she couldn't cater Mob events...the H is a racist m'fer.
After all the ugly of their break up...the h, at the beginning of this book...she just rolls on over and climbs right back in his bed, no pride, no dignity, just wet panties and bated breath. Never considers catering again when she returns. Even hates baking for awhile. Then, rather than forcing him to explain his whorish bullshit and man-up and relationship-up...she settles for "friends with bennies"
I. Could. Puke.
I don't have a hard limit with OW.
I have a hard limit of doormat h's that take back their manwhore, asshole men with no grovel and sopping panties.
As if.
Dude better get on his knees. And beg.
Add into it a convoluted plot and no reason for an h to put up with her man...and it's 2 star.
**re-read and changing my review rating to 4 stars 3 1/2 stars. I liked this one, but I was hoping for more. I have loved this series since booking was released, and I am always waiting for another book. The story in this book is great it kept me riveted and always interested but I was hoping for more from Glory and Jules. I don't know if I needed more meaningful interaction from them or what but I wanted more from them. I liked them both but I was hoping for more chemistry. I love that we see almost everyone from the previous books, and hello Prosper is int his book so I'm in all the way just for that because I love Prosper. I think he's on in a million.
I was hooked from the first page and I loved seeing Glory's dedication to her brother, but I will say I think he needed to grovel more for what he said to her. Glory has literally done everything possible to help her brother, and he says things to her that I think are inexcusable and hurtful to her. I loved Glory and she has been through so much I think since she has been through so much she needed more. I will say I don't remember tons about Jules and Glory from eh previous books. I remember their story but not tons of details and a comment was made about the past that I hope I misinterpreted wrong because I don't want to be mad at Jules.
As much as I loved the story of this book I wish we had gotten more time with Jules and Glory just the two of them, I think it would have helped me as a reader. I'm not saying I didn't like this book because I did. Like I said I was hooked from the story and I always love Paula Marinaro's voice in books, I always flow right back into this wold she created. I loved learning more about Hal and I think/hope I know what is coming next. I loved seeing Claire and Glory together again and learning more about both Jules and Glory who I both loved as well as finally seeing them together.
I think some things just needed flushed out a little more. Glory and her brother, Jules past, fixing/making right Jules past, Glory and Jules, the epilogue which I wish was longer had me in tears but like I said I needed more and felt like it was over too fast. I was hooked with all these stories but I almost feel like they weren't quite finished. Like if a little more had been spend on all these amazing story lines this book would have been a perfect book. I really, really did enjoy this book and it might just be me having waited too long(in my mind) in anticipation of this book. But I did really like it and I am so glad I read it, and very excited for the book to come.
* there are some errors in this book that made me have to take a step back and re-read.
I don’t know what the feminine equivalent of emasculating is, but whatever it is Marinaro does it to the kickass, take no prisoners Glory from Raine Falling that SAVED Raine and her sister in that story. Glory was a breath of fresh air as SHE was the one to save the heroine rather than a man. Here she’s a delicate, bruised creature that’s either ignored or verbally abused by the H and her own brother. No thanks.
Character betrayal alert for Jules as well as, again in Raine Falling, he’s the gentle giant with a heart of gold. Now he’s a bossy, arrogant, cheating jerk. In a previous book he makes a choice to have sex with another woman as a means of making the heroine do what he wants. I think we need to tack stupid on to bossy, arrogant, and cheating.
I guess the drill for most fans of MC books that the hero has to cruelly humiliate the heroine through cheating and verbal abuse to be an alpha?
I am sooo disappointed with this book. I really, really liked the other stories in the series. I was thinking Glory was awesome and Jules was just a slime swilling blob pustule on a nemaotde's butt - I felt sure there would be some good redemption for Jules very bad behavior and I got totally shafted on that.
I wish Glory would have wound up with ANYONE other that the lyin, cheatin, completely dismissive of anything Glory actually NEEDS in the way of support Jules - he won't be faithful, he won't put her first and he has NO respect for her.
This woman has been through a lot and sacrificed A LOT to help her family and her friends. Yet like many abused women, she settles for so much less than she deserves because she doesn't think she can do better.
What an utter let down and all I can say is I hope Jules gets a toilet seat to the head on his merry cheatin' usin' way down the highway and Glory can get a real HEA with a real man who isn't a sorry pump and dump sewage slurper.
Who are you and what did you do with Glory?? That’s my reaction to the total 180 Glory did from being the kickass woman in Chasing Claire to the member of Doormats Anonymous she was in this book. So disappointed.
I wasn’t exactly a Jules fan and I’m sad to say after reading Saving Glory I’m still not much of a fan.
Not the best in the series, but looking forward to Hal’s book.
Saving Glory just went on my favorite list. I have loved this series but Saving Glory has it all. Romance, mc action, back story, hot sizzle and the promise of things to comes. Jules is all alpha but Glory's sass matches his alpha. Their chemistry as a would be couple burned the pages up. So much emotional upheaval. I can't wait until the next book. I have my fingers crossed for Hal's story. Great read.
The storyline was very good and there is some closure for Glory. However, I don't like Glory or Jules together. They were both so immature and selfish toward anything regarding their relationship. He was always disappearing and not truly caring about her. She would get her feelings hurt and run off. As individuals they've been through a lot so you would think life experiences to provide wisdom but nope not so much.
I freakin' loved this book. Jules and Glory together-hot!!! The unexpected twists in this book kept me glued to the pages. This book has just the right amount of grit, alpha men and hot sex to tingle your toes (among other places). Definitely going on my-to-be-read again list!!!
“Heck, Yes” was my reaction when I saw that Saving Glory was available, “Hmmm” was my response when I was done. Don’t get me wrong, it was a good book, but I’ve been waiting for Jules and Glory’s story for a long time, and it wasn’t all I wanted it to be.
Jules lost some points with me with this book. I want to be able to say that Jules had gotten a taste of life without Glory and was hellbent on winning her back but I can’t since Jules, even though he missed Glory in a huge way, wasn’t ready to go there. He had a certain lifestyle and wasn’t sure he wanted to give it up for one woman. I was disappointed that he seemed to be playing with Glory with no clue what he wanted from her.
Poor Glory, it seemed every time she would get on her feet, life would hit her upside the head with yet another two by four. She’s not the strong type heroine I tend to gravitate to, but just the fact she’s still standing testifies to a certain strength of character despite not being kickass. She’s one of those characters you feel bad for, and even though some of her choices are suspect, you root for her anyway.
Hal had a huge presence in this book, at times making it feel like it was just as much his book as it was Jules and Glory’s. My heart hurt for him because of the injuries he suffered and the heartbreak he endured while at war. I was cheering him on as he healed, both physically and mentally, but his words towards his sister made me want to grab him by his ear and shake him like the sullen, irresponsible child he once was.
The situation with Abiatti provided the action I have come to expect with the Hell’s Saints series. My only complaint is that I wanted to be along for the entirety of what I ended up dubbing “Glory and Claire’s Grand Adventure”. As misguided as it was for the girls to take it on, the adventure sounded heart-poundingly dangerous, and I think being along for that ride instead of being told of it would have elevated the book to a solid four stars.
My main issue with Saving Glory is that I felt like the men in Glory’s life kept getting passes and Glory kept getting the shaft. Glory has had a tragic life. It’s been one disaster after another. Her father left her holding the bag with all the issues she dealt with both before and after her parent’s deaths. Her brother’s bad choices left her thinking she was holding the bag with the Abiatti family after he joined the military and left her, and Jules left her holding that bag several times just through his inability to see what was in front of him and refusal to take Glory as she was. Yes, Glory held responsibility for her own actions, but a lot of the things she did was in response to taking care of her brother or Jules. As interesting as the book was, it felt like all the blame was thrown on Glory’s head and this pissed me off.
As disappointed as I was with some aspects of the story, I loved other parts. I loved Prosper and the way he’s always the voice of reason looking out for his people and I always enjoy time spent with the Hell’s Saints Family. In the end, Saving Glory was an enjoyable story, I just wanted more from it.
Omg I devoured this book in one day absolutely amazing I love jules he's an Alfa male who gets what he wants he loves his club and his brothers will do anything for them he's got his life set for him with all the girls he can have all the booze he wants with all the destruction in the past what more could he want until that one woman comes into his life the one he couldn't forget Glory has had a tuff life with everything that's happened in the past all the destruction it caused her life is still just as hard with trying to help her brother after getting bombed and being the only serviour of his team will she be able to help him recover until there's a knock on the door will she take prosper's offer and return with all the help she and her brother will need and will she be able to face the one person who she can't get out of her mind (jules) Absolutely love this author and this series xoxo
It's been so long since I read book 3 that I had to scan 1, 2, and 3. When I meant long I meant I have been anxiously awaiting Glory's story. I seriously love this series. I want my own HSMC bad ass of my own. I won't go all in about the book but I can tell you you'll love it. You need to read the 1st 2 books because Glory is in both to help fill in the holes for book 4. I hope the next one will be of Hal and Valentina. You know it's an awesome book when you get absolutely immersed in it and can't put the book down and have to be up in a couple hours and it's 4:30 am wishing it wasn't over. Makes me happy to read an MC book with substance and a great connection with each character.
This probably wasn't my fav in the series, but it was good enough that I didn't feel disappointed. If it was the first book I'd read I would have rated it 3*'s, but it did its job of holding up a storyline with an already solid cast of characters. I'm glad Jules and Glory got their HEA and I can see that Hal's is probably in the works.
I really didn't think I would like this story because Jules was such an idiot in the last two books. From the way I look at it now it really is a Pride and Prejudice story. She has way too much pride to call him on his bull and he is prejudice towards the way his woman should behave. But of course I did love it. We know from the first few books in the series that Jules and Glory screwed up. Then do to outside circumstances they split for over a year. Their split has miles but when they are forced in the same zipcode it's hard to stay apart. Jules has some explaining to do and Glory has to learn to ask for help. Great Read and hopefully the next one is released soon.
Love this story. I think this author is very talented. That said, Ms. Marinaro, YOU NEED TO GET BETTER EDITORS. Each book in this series has lots of errors--referencing wrong eye color, calling characters by the wrong name (Glory is even called Gloria in this book), and other grammatical errors.
I liked Jules and Glory's story but for some reason it didn't quite live up to what I was expecting. I couldn't really connect as deep as I would have liked with the characters. I guess I am comparing it to Raine Falling which was one of the best books I have read. For the first time in all of the books I have read by this author I noticed some editing issues. Not major but kind of surprising. 3.5 Stars for me.
Loved loved loved! Oh Glory be to Jules! Lol! There were some really awesome parts of this book, no spoilers just read it! All your fav characters come back and some new ones appear. Paula always does such a good job infusing humor too- my favorite part comes with some shenanigans with Glory and Claire. Thank you for doing Glory's story justice!
Glory is a wonderfully written character. I am in fact a fan girl of Glory’s: it’s official. This woman has been through a great deal in her short life. She has been tremendously taken advantage of- this is a story line from a prior book- and it was NEVER resolved at the time. Which is a tragedy and greatly unfair to Glory. Her brother KNEW. KNEW she had been lied to and “taken over” by the mob. Forced to work against her wishes as a stripper- that storyline was just dropped in the last book- just like GLORY was by Jules(and to a small extent the club.) I’m guilty of personalizing this/ but if a friend of mine moved away to take care of her wounded warrior brother- I would not allow them to financially struggle nor would our other friends. When Hal and Glory return to the area and are in close physical proximity THEY GET A GOOD DEAL OF SUPPORT. I’m sorry? That’s NOT how good friendships work. Also, very very disappointed in how Jules need to hurt Glory when he feels hurt is glossed over, Jules wants the past forgotten where he screwed up- but not where he sees/feels Glory screwed up. Part of me feels they should have been paired with new partners. Book magic brought these two back together- not any sensible storyline. That is my grudge. The author is very talented. She’s twisting my emotions, but in a sense it’s more die to the lack of logic than compelling story. This is not my favorite. I liked Jules as a medic and caretaker, watching him he soooooooooooo careless with the love of his wife kind of just sucks. ***I may need to adjust this review when I calm myself down. For those looking for an angsty book about people who love but hurt each - other this is an awesome book for you!!!
I was reluctant to start this book cause I didn't like Jules that much in the other books. I did like Glory. She changed a lot in this book. I recall her being strong and sassy it took a while for that to come out in this story.
I absolutely loved the reeming both her and Claire copped after their spying and investigation episode. It was very funny.
But then it wasn't, I mean how hypocritical are these guys? Club business bs all the time when without the info the girls got they would have all been in trouble.
The brother, Hal is a different story. I totally don't get how his losing money and owing some mafia dude was her own fault for getting involved when he had basically run off and enlisted leaving her without protection and then getting involved with some seriously bad men that started her involvement with even more bad men etc.
But it's still a good story. While some reviews go on about his cheating etc that didn't occur during this story. He was a dog in the past but he reigned it in for this story about him.
Their last fight at the end before they quickly kiss and make up and have their HEA was stupid - that wasn't really club business the patching in of a brother and a two day bender was pretty selfish and I am sure her girls would have been told by their significant others. Meanwhile the trip she was looking forward too was cancelled. She should have left a note when she went to visit her friend by saying secret women's business - I'm glad she didn't sit around waiting for him. 🙃
