With her jet black hair and intense eyes that hypnotize me, Carmen takes my breath away. There’s something dark about her, something that draws me to her like a moth to a flame. Like me, she’s haunted by the demons of her past, but I’m a man who loves a challenge.
One way or another, I’m making Carmen my wife, and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop me.
**Ruthless is a full-length Mafia Romance with an HEA, no cheating, and no cliffhanger!
Lauren Landish is a WALL STREET JOURNAL & USA TODAY bestselling author and her books have garnered a legion of praise from her readers.
When she’s not plotting about how she will introduce you to your next sexy as hell book boyfriend, you can find her deep, deep in her writing cave, furiously tapping away on her keyboard, writing scenes that would make even a hardened sailor blush.
Lauren, who lives in NC with her boyfriend and fur baby, warmly invites you to her worlds of rock hard abs, chiseled smiles, and men with deep, fat pockets…but beware! These stories are guaranteed to have you addicted and needing your next fix!
The h is Carmen, the stripper that was with Daniel in book one. Her H is some lackey for the Bertoli family. Just from that first scene, he looks like he is falling into the mold favored by this author. Another weak ass guy with no back bone and no pride.
Wow, another home run by Lauren Landish in her “Bertoli Crime Family Series”. Dante Degrassi is a associate in the family’s business (mob) when he is asked to help out Carmen Esperanza. She is a hot, sexy former stripper who runs a dance school now. Carmen is BFF with Adriana, Don Bertoli's niece. Something happens which involves Carmen and now she needs help so Dante is asked to provide assistance. Dante is part of Tomasso's crew and he wants to get noticed and move higher up so this is the break he needs- he would have been given better jobs but due to his dad’s past deeds, he has been treated pretty bad. Carmen is very beautiful and he wants her but things get in the way (i.e family business, something Carmen says) Due to this, they spend some time apart , thinking the other doesn’t like each other. They each have their pasts intruding on their present , and they have to decide if the other person is worth the pain to come back together. I loved Dante and Carmen’s passion and heat when they hook up and make up. The dialogue is fantastic and the ending is great. I cannot wait to see what is next in the Bertoli series.
My rating: 4.8 stars ***** **I was given an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review***
Out of the three books I think this has been the most fun ad light hearted. While it still had Mafia connections it was completely different. Carmen and Dante are addictive characters. Their personality suits one another and I found it a breeze to read. Unlike how the characters from book 1 and 2 are around throughout and you get to see how they've got along through the years.
This is the 3rd book in the series and to reach this phase this means they were good enough of a hook.
I like the whole Mafia atmosphere going around in the book with the shady rules that they mend and create as they like.
Dante seems like a good man, but I just couldn’t feel the love for Carmen she was such a bitch to call him a dumb-ass anyways for that zipper incident. It showed how bad of a person she is while he was doing everything to please her.
Some parts of the book don’t make sense as how they only had one roll in the hay and then nothing for weeks when they were training daily together and even slept in the same hotel in Vegas. It doesn’t reflect the life of an ex-stripper and a really attractive muscular man. It wasn’t until NYC that they slept together again and the next day he proposed and told her I L U just before the last set of the competition and then they won…. OMG just shoot me.
The whole lose the index finger and continue life normally it made me feel like it was like removing a root canal.
The book is in need of another round of editing for sure. My brains wouldn’t stop shutting for the small details that I found here and there, the discrepancies and errors are a mood killer.
I loved the epilogue it was informative and being a fan of this series regardless that I 2stared it all the way, it was nice to know what happened to the other families.
Just loved this book. Carmen needed to get a break and Dante was her chance. They both had difficult lives for different reason but to see how they both overcame the hurdles that were set in front of the ideas a joy. All it takes is someone giving you a break .
Dante is an associate to the Bertoli crime family working hard to be accepted by the Don. For a number of years, he has been disrespected, gossiped about and held in contempt all because of an unfounded rumor concerning his father. Carmen is a dance instructor and best friends with the wives of the Bertoli sons. She also has a past that haunts her. The story unfolds as Dante & Carmen get to know one another and find they have some things in common. Demons from their painful memories, on both sides, causes"bumps on the road" of their budding romance. Finding resolution for the past is paramount to their happiness. As with any good Mafia story, there is an element of Mafia business that adds explosions and gunfire to the action. Reader is captivated from beginning to end. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Five stars.
Started a little slow, but got better. It was a cute story. The last chapter totally reminded me of the movie The Cutting Edge. Which I really loved for many years, I think I need to find that DVD.
I like it as the build up was good in terms of Carmen and Dante's relationship. I esp6like how Dante was able to over look Carmen past by just saying we all have pssts.
This is Carmen's story. She is just an ex stripper that wants her dance studio to do more than just get by. Dante is the low man on the ladder with the mafia.
A chance encounter and things start to change for the pair. It wasn't insta lust between the two. It was a slow burn and it worked. They had some serious communication issues to work out. To see a mafia man do some serious dancing was great.
I felt the ending was a bit rushed and the epilogue was a bit confusing.
I voluntarily reviewed and provide my honest opinion.
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Dante, an associate of the Bertoli crime family, is asked to help out at a Bertoli family party. There he meets Carmen. Carmen is a former dancer of the Starlight Club. She now owns a dance studio, but has fallen on hard times. Carmen is best friend's with Adriana, Don Bertoli's niece, so of course she would also be a guest at the Bertoli get together. An altercation brings him the attention of Don Bertoli. This altercation also involves Carmen and it may just have given him the break he needs. If he could just measure up, prove his worth, maybe he'd have a chance at moving up in the Family. Dante is now a part of Tomasso's crew. Tomasso is the heir to the Bertoli Empire. Dante has been living in his father's messed up shadow. His father was once ranked very high in the Bertoli hierarchy, until he was thought to be disloyal. Dante has been treated poorly ever since because of his father's past. But he intends to prove himself with Tomasso. Carmen and Dante are attracted to each other and as Dante moves up in the Family they become closer. Carmen says something to Dante that reminds him of his past and they have a falling out of sorts. They have a prior commitment to fulfill in Vegas that may lead to another opportunity in New York. This could make or break them as they have been spending a lot of time together. Dante and Carmen made a great couple. They complimented each other well. They both had their own demons to fight, but together they were stronger. They accepted each other for who they were; what you see is what you get - their past, their present and their future. GREAT STORYLINE WITH SOME SUSPENSE MIXED IN ! LOTS OF HOT STEAMY SEX ! ! LOVED IT ! ! !
I received an arc in exchange for a honest review. This is the 3rd book in the Bertoli crime family series and I must admit I've read most of Lauren's books and my favourite series is the Bertoli family. I enjoyed reading about Carmen in the other two books so when I found out she was getting her own book I couldn't wait to read it. Carmen Esperanza is the owner of a dance studio which even though she's a fantastic dancer isn't making much money so she's down on her luck. She's also a close family friend to the Bertoli's. Dante Degassi is known to the Bertoli family due to being third generation mafia but due the second generation causing a bit of a situation and rumours working overload in recent years he's now only an errand boy/associate and has an unflattering nickname He is asked to work at a Bertoli family birthday party where due to a situation not of his causing he ends up playing the knight in shining armour to the lovely Carmen. He then manages to show Tomasso Bertoli what he's actually made of and maybe he can clear a few things up too if they will let him. Carmen and Dante work really well together both are down on their luck and have had hard life's so maybe by helping each other out they can build a better future for themselves. You really need to read this book if you enjoy the Bertoli crime family books or if you just like reading mafia books especially ones with lots of sparks, powerful connections and a story that will captivate you
Received ARC in exchange for an honest review***** I was so happy to find out Carmen from the first Bertoli Family book got her own story! Carmen is good friends with Adrianna from the first book and Luisa Bertoli from book 2. Carmen meets Dante Degrassi one of the Bertoli employees after Dante helps her with unwanted advances from Eduardo, Luisa brother, who thinks Carmen is their to provide "entertainment" for the guests. Dante and Carmen are such a great couple. Dante is picked to be on Tomasio's new crew he has formed. He trains with Tomasio and Luisa and starts seeing Carmen since she is the also works as the masseuse for the Bertoli family. Carmen gets an invite to compete in a new dance competition and Dante agrees to be her partner. They both see it as a win for each. She gets to compete and Dante gains for strength for his job. Like all of Ms Landish's books the two fall in love along the way. While battling outside problems from the other families trying to take down the family. This book of course ends with an HEA! Loved this story and look forward to the new story we get a sneak peak of in this book!
This is a intriguing and interesting book to read and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. What you will find in this story is drama, suspense, intrigue, action, mobsters, a disgraced father, a small time determined player/associate in the family business (Dante Degrassi), a defiant ex-stripper/exotic dancer (Carmen Esperanza), a dance studio, financial difficulties, an assault, a disguised rescue, a man pushed into a pool, Don Bertoli, questions & answers, Dante now part of Tomasso’s crew, attractions, learning to dance, a competition, disagreements, opportunities, a dance partner, a call, 3rd place, a call, a message to Gatos, a full on raid, guns blazing, Dante injured, right index finger blown off, training, a birthday party, another dance competition, declarations of love, lets dance, lust, emotional feelings, love and hot erotic scenes. The story-line and plot is well thought out and written, the pace was steady and not rushed. The characters have needs and desires according to their personality. I would recommend this book to people who like to read a well written mafia romance with a HEA.
HOLY S***!!! What an amazing book!!! I am really loving the Bertoli family and all their 'adventures'... This is Dante's story... Dante works for the Bertoli family... Trying to prove himself and right wrongs of the past!!! (all is explained in the book!). When he sees Carmen for the first time... His life takes a positive turn!!! Carmen is friends of the family and frequently spends time with Luisa and Adriana. Struggling to make ends meet and keep her dance school running... Can love make things right? This was a brilliantly written book and pulled me in right from the beginning!!! The journey these two characters are on is, to say the least... Emotional!!! With twists and turns throughout that will have you white knuckled and on the edge of your seat... Whilst other parts are hot enough to disolve your underwear!!!... All i will say is... READ THIS BOOK ASAP!!! Ms Landish has done it again!!!... And i for one am excited to discover what she has planned next!!!... Fantastic read!!!
I really enjoyed this story! Maybe it was because both characters were struggling and they developed a relationship on rebuilding that trust and having people look past your...past. I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I liked Carmen from the first book and really hoped we would get a story out of it. She is determined to wash away her past and make a name for herself as a talented dance teacher. Dante was determined to make a name for himself in the organization but he is getting reputation for being difficult. Bring these two together and you get sparks and lots of sizzling dancing! It was cute how they build up their relationship and changed were able to change their past perceptions. The only problem that I had was what happened to the notebook after it got passed over? The story just never went back to it...did they forgive him? We're they able to read the codes? Kinda wanted to know what happened.

Carmen wants nothing more to put her stripper days behind her and start a whole new life, but some won't let her forget. Dante wants nothing more then to defend the honor of his father. When Dante gets a chance to work a party at the Bertoli house, he takes it and that night his life changes. Defending Carmen honor put Dante in a position to finally be seen. When Dante asks Carmen for dance lesson to help with his new job, she accepts. They both don't know nothing about each other past until certain circumstances comes up. They both need each other and Dante will do anything to help Carmen's dance dream come true but when out on a job will Dante not be able to make her dream come true? How Carmen and Dante are together makes you want to not stop reading.

I thoroughly loved reading the outstanding, intriguing, mesmerizing, and heartbreaking Bad Boy Mafia Romance and #3 in the Bertoli Crime Family series by the phenomenally talented Lauren Landish. I received a copy for an honest review. Carmen Esperanza owns a dance studio that is having some financial difficulties. Carmen is best friends with Luisa, Tomasso Bertoli's wife, and Adrienne, Don Bertoli's niece. Dante Degrassi is a low man working hard in the mafia. When Dante rescues Carmen from Luisa's brother, Tomasso Bertoli chooses Dante to work as part of his team. As Carmen spend more and more time together, passions and feelings ignite between them. Read the highly recommended, suspenseful and enthralling story line, a must read, beautifully written love story of Carmen and Dante.
This was my favorite in the Bertoli Crime Family series. Dante Degrassi has become used to the members of the Bertoli organization not trusting him, but keeps doing what he must and biding his time. A chance meeting at a birthday celebration has Dante coming to the rescue of Carmen, an honorary member of the Bertoli family, when she is harassed by Luisa's brother. Their path to their happy ending has Dante earning a shot with Tomasso and Luisa in their crew, a chance for Carmen to get publicity for her dance studio(that has nothing to do with her past as a stripper) with the help of Dante as her partner and the other half they both had been missing. There are misunderstandings between the two due to neither knowing the other's backstory, but through it all the pull to each other. I loved the latest from Lauren Landish. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Carmen is friends with Luisa & adrienne wives of the bertoli men they all have history. Things aren't going well for her so the ladies invite her to a party on Friday however Luisa brother calls her a whore & Dante rescues her, bringing him to the men's attention. Tomasso offers him a job on his crew! They both have a bad history can they make it together & the bad things be left behind? The story is a stand alone book. However I have also read relentless (adriana & Daniels story) & reckless (Luisa & Tomasso story) these characters are mentioned in the book. I recommend they be read or added to your read list! I was given a copy of this book for my honest opinion & I most definitely recommend it. Amazing story
This is the third book in the Bertoli crime series and is about Dante and Carmen, both part of the Bertoli crime family. Things don’t come easy for them and you will be caught up in the drama as they find true love. While I don’t usually seek out read books on the Mafia, these have intrigued me and I have enjoyed them immensely.
I loved this story, brilliant characters and storyline. Third book in the series, all are standalones with interlacing characters. I would recommend reading all three, in order though, that way you can get a good feel for the other characters and how they came together. Well worth it, i promise.
This is about Dante and Carmen. Both really good characters, strong in their own way with troubled pasts. At first i was a little frustrated with Dante, but, reading the story and finding out who he is and why he is the way he is makes it all clear. Loved the chemistry between him and Carmen. Would certainly recommend this book, and series!
I received an ARC for an honest review. This is the story of Dante who is an associate for the organisation, and because of his father’s past deeds, is treated badly, and all he wants is the chance to prove himself. Carmen is an ex stripper, who now runs a dance studio, and is friends with Luisa, and Adriana. When she needs help, Dante jumps to the rescue. These two are great together, and have an instant attraction. This storyline is full of suspense, drama, intrigue, and love. I love reading about the Bertoli family, and I think this one is my favourite. Great job Lauren on yet another story which captivated me from the beginning. Cannot wait to read more in this series.
This is the first book that left me feeling a bit let down. I was really hoping for a better ending and was quite disappointed. You left a huge question for me- what happened with his dads notebook? Was he exonerated? And in the end, it skipped 4 years! I like a few months later, and it’s skipping forward to their wedding day or finding out they’re having a baby, or even when the baby is born. This was confusing. Especially when there are more children running round and it’s not properly explained who they belong to! It felt very rushed and like I said, I was left feeling a bit confused. I am a bit gutted though because the other 2 books in the series were great.

I have fallen for the Bertolli saga since book one. I have been hooked. I'm sad to see this series end. This book however was a great ending to a wonderful trilogy. This book focuses Dante and Carmen. Neither are "blood relations" of Bertolli's but they are family by choices made. The Bertolli family series is full of surprises and shockers. You will definitely enjoy this book. It was a exciting read! I do recommend that you read books 1 and 2 before starting book 3 but you will not regret it. The whole series was extraordinary.
The 3rd book in the Bertoli series. This is my first bad boy mafia romance by Lauren Landish. She does a great job on this one. The writing is thrilling and thoughtful.
I loved the dynamic between Dante and Carmen... each having their own past and history to overcome/accept to truly offer themselves to each other. Their story is beautiful and heated.
