The terrorist leader and financier Matt Jacobs has figured out a way to eliminate the President. He believes he has come up with the ultimate weapon and needs help in getting close enough to the president to use it. He is relying on John Cannon's stature as a hero to help him carry it off by providing the entry into the Oval Office. When confronted by Matt, John finds himself walking the fine line of pretending to help Matt while trying to figure out a countermeasure to the plan.

The action begins with John fearing for his life. John is forced to run from his house to avoid a killer. Clearly, whoever is trying to get him has a mission to accomplish, and the elimination of John is at the top of the to-do list. One survival does not a story make and the quest to thrive takes John and his love, Stephanie from the beaches of Port Aransas to West Virginia and finally to Matt Jacob’s corporate headquarters at the Embarcadero Center in San Francisco. There John finally understands what he needs to do to protect Stephanie and him from further mayhem. He chooses a path that takes him to the ultimate test while jeopardizing those he loves.

The third book in the John J. Cannon Trilogy brings together two strong wills for a showdown. The question to be answered is who will feel the satisfaction that the achievement of justice delivers? John, Matt or neither?

The end to an exciting series and it finishes with page turning action. John Cannon manages to survive numerous attempts on his life before bringing the evil Matt Jacobs to justice. I enjoyed the taut action scenes and very much enjoyed Stephanie's role. I like strong kick-ass female characters and it was good she was very much John's equal partner. You could read this standalone but I suggest you start at the beginning to get the most from the book. Will appeal to anyone who enjoys a thrilling adventure full of non stop action.

Our Justice by John W. Howell, a thriller about a patriotic lawyer trying to thwart a rich and powerful terrorist, provides a mostly satisfying conclusion to the series.

Similar to the first two books, Howell writes book three with a concise and straightforward style, often overexplaining things. This largely works in the story's favor. The fact that the main protagonist, John Cannon, carefully thinks through everything becomes part of his personality and charm while aiding reader comprehension. The supporting cast is likeable, and I couldn't help but cheer for the do-gooder to finally achieve justice.

Unlike the first two books, book three suffers from a few minor plot holes (or at least from a few things left unexplained). Along those lines, I would've liked a little more falling action to wrap up the loose ends. I was also specifically disappointed that the antagonist's grand plan never materialized, and that the cool and deadly new technology the author reveals is never utilized in the plot.

Furthermore, parts of book three felt a bit too much like book two. Both novels follow a similar pattern. John spends the first half of each book running from the antagonist. In the second half, the antagonist captures him, forcing John to have to come up with a clever way to foil the bad guy's plans. And John sits down to dinner with the main antagonist way too often.

All in all, Our Justice was a well-written novel, and its handful of minor issues didn't detract too terribly from my enjoyment. I'm glad I stuck with the series until the end.

The conclusion of this trilogy had me on pins and needles, especially the ending chapters when the cat-and-mouse game between everyday hero John Cannon and billionaire terrorist Matt Jacobs reaches climatic proportions. As always, Howell packs his pages with action, intrigue and characters you love to cheer for, or (boo-hiss!) despise. I didn’t think I could dislike Jacobs more than I did already, but Howell created a truly despicable villain which makes the game between him and Cannon all the more nerve-wracking. Toss in some scary science/new technology and the stakes are astronomical.

Once again, the author had me doing mental cartwheels trying to figure out how he was going to finagle Cannon free of impossible situations. Many secondary characters also get a chance to shine, and the rollercoaster ending brings satisfying closure to a thrilling series. Howell has an easy style of writing that places the reader in the center of each scene and keeps the pace surging forward. Action, intrigue, even a small smattering of romance—what a combination! And I couldn’t have asked for a better tie up of events at the end.

I found this book to be fast-paced, a page turner, and well written. This is the first time I have read any of John Howell's books and now I wish I had read the other two of the series first. Now I will for sure. The hero John Cannon and the plot, intrigue, and political situations reminds me of books written by the late Vince Flynn who is one of my favorite authors.
I am amazed at the details the author presented regarding flying an airplane, the experience of being in a F-16, and the weapons the FBI, police, and the enemy has. Some of it is very scary if it is true.
Thank you, John for an enjoyable read.

In this third book of the John Canon series, Author John Howell has amped up the action. Matt Jacobs is determined to capture national hero, Attorney, John Canon, and force Canon to join with him in murdering the President and destroying America.
There are explosions, car chases, harrowing airplane trips and even F18 fighter plane rides in the race to evade capture and/or death at the hands of Jacobs. Canon manages to stay one step ahead and with Stephanie Savard at his side, finds not only an ally and but, perhaps even love. Sheriff Ned Tranes takes the brunt of attacks in his attempt to protect John and when he gets shot, is forced to sit on the sidelines for a while. But, not for long.

In this book, Howell takes us deep inside the mind of a terrorist, Matt Jacobs, and shows how committed he is and how much he believes in his cause. Matt Jacobs sees America as Satan and the president as the leader of Satan and feels fully justified in committing murder to bring the country to its knees. And, in that process, securing himself a place in heaven. Murder in the name of Allah.

But, he underestimates John Canon. And it helps that a bit of betrayal is added into the mix.

This is a nail-biter. Each attack on Canon escalates until there appears to be no hope of survival. But, in true John Howell fashion, there is a climatic twist. If you like thrillers, you are going to enjoy this conclusion to the Canon series when “Our Justice” is finally served.

Our Justice by John W. Howell, 2016

Genre – Suspense Thriller

Setting – California locales

Hero – John Cannon, lawyer and quick study

Villain – Matt Jacobs, wealthy terrorist set on assassinating the President and killing anyone who gets in his way or annoys him

Major Theme – Determined good wins over evil.

Descriptors – fast paced, moves at light speed, never a dull moment- seriously, well researched, puts the reader in the mind and body and behind the eyeballs of the hero, part 3 of series but stands on its own

Favorite Supporting Character – Ned Tranes, excellent police chief, good hearted friend and mentor of the hero

Fun Tidbit – I’m used to reading books with 3rd person POV. This book is written in 1st person POV, and not only that, it’s written in PRESENT TENSE. This gives it a fantastic quality of immediacy-

Examples:
To add to my misery, a droplet runs down my forehead and into my eye. I don’t have a free hand to wipe the sweat away, and it burns my eye. I try to wink in the hope of clearing away the salt water.

“Also, if you make any sudden moves, I’ll have to pop you in the knee with my little friend here.”

Memorable Line – The coffee appears to have some magical power—the color flows back into her cheeks, and she looks much younger than just two minutes ago.

If Our Justice by John W. Howell was a roller coaster ride, it would be one that begins high on the track right before the free fall, twists and loops––what a ride!
The Protagonist, John Canon is an authentic, likable guy whose not afraid to show fear or allow a woman to take charge, which is endearing to me. He's a genuinely good guy with great morals. You'll love to hate his nemesis, Matt Jacobs, a very rich and powerful, kind of charming lunatic bent on destroying him. And I loved Stephanie, a strong, intelligent, beauty. All-around well-developed and memorable characters.
Aside from the nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat thrills and chills action, it's obvious that a lot of research went into this story. Sometimes I wondered while reading if the author had been a navy seal or scientist, because the descriptions and scenarios were so on point and believable.
This story was written in first person, present tense and I felt like I was tagging along on all the adventures. This is the last book in the John Canon trilogy but it stands alone.
If you enjoy a fast paced, harrowing, thrilling story with a very satisfying ending then this book is for you.

“Our Justice” is the final book of the John Cannon series and it continues where “His Revenge” left off. We quickly find John Cannon heading home, but there is little calm before everything gets crazy—again. John’s on-going battle with a terrorist determined to take down the United States for religious reasons, challenges our hero to find ways out of situations most couldn’t. You can’t help but love John’s determination and wit--while cheering him on. John finally gets into a spot he might not be able to escape. This fast-paced thriller is written in the author’s unique style that pulls you right into the story with a nail-biting ending that had a few surprises. The details Mr. Howell uses throughout the story not only enhances it, but leaves you wondering if this could really happen. I highly recommend this series, but start from the beginning with “My GRL” so you can enjoy the ride all the way to the end!

Our Justice is a non-stop thriller from start to finish! There is action at every turn and this reader had a difficult time catching her breath before the next scene played out.

The author has developed a likable character in John Cannon in this trilogy. I hated to see it end.

John is a lawyer and a patriot who loves his country and respects others' to live free without oppression. When he becomes entangled with a multi-billionaire, Matt Jacobs, with a drive to kill and control others, John fights back.

In this third book John butts heads with this man who isn't what he appears to be, only worse. Matt carries a secret agenda that only John can uncover and destroy unless Matt can control and destroy everyone that John loves first.

If you are a fan of suspense, action-packed excitement, then this is the book for you! Kudos to author, John W. Howell, for an enjoyable read!

Just finished John W. Howell's Our Justice, and all I can say is wow! The story is so crammed with action and fast-paced that I could hardly put it down to sleep. Something new and terrifying happened every few pages. The ending was totally unexpected and thrilling too. If you like action adventure, this book has to be on your list.

I have been meaning to read a book by John W. Howell for a long time as I've read such positive reviews of his work.

"Our Justice" is a terrific page-turner with a fast-paced and well-crafted plot. As a beginner to John Howell's work, I regret not starting with the first two novels in the series, but I intend to do so soon.

The protagonist, John Cannon, and the sophisticated plot, replete with intrigue and political complexities. An added bonus for me was the author's detailed portrayal of flying an airplane, the F-16 experience, and the arsenal of weapons used by the FBI, police, and opponents.

This is a vibrant read and I look forward to reading more work by Howell.

This book begins with John J. Cannon, finally back in Port Aransas, organising repairs of his home and car. It doesn't take long until he has to run - again.

With Our Justice, John W. Howell has created the thrilling finale of his fast/steady-paced thriller trilogy with a quite normal protagonist who still does not see himself as a hero. John J. Cannon and Ned are very likeable characters; as their friendship grows, so does the reader’s friendship with them. The story comprises a variety of craftily elaborated characters with depth and interesting interactions until the last page. I had a great time reading Our Justice – it is a very intriguing and intense read; it turned me into an invisible ally and/or friend of the believable protagonist. I was drawn into the story right away, cheering John on. In these days, some of the situations make you think; similar stuff might happen.

This is for you if you like steady-paced thrillers, interesting and complex characters, series, thoroughly researched matters, and - food for thought.

A compelling and remarkable thriller - a worthy finale for John W. Howell's memorable trilogy.

Highly recommended!

With this book, we come to the conclusion of our unlikely hero's adventure. It all started with John J. Cannon taking a leave of absence for a well-deserved rest and to spend some leisure time on his new boat. And he hasn't had a moment of peace since.

As with the other books in this trilogy, the story moves along at a brisk pace and the action begins almost immediately. I especially enjoyed the dialogue between John and Ned and the dry humor interspersed along the way.

With this last installment, the author did justice to this suspenseful and thrilling series with a befitting and appropriate ending for John Cannon. It's been an exciting, fun ride.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

John Cannon as a character is everything that a hero should be. Handsome, fearless and patriotic. As the final chapter of this series unfolds it would seem that there is little time to take a breath following his last encounter with the secretive and driven Matt Jacobs. From the start of this third book bullets fly, bombs go off and escape routes are compromised.

John Cannon is a marked man and his nemesis is going to literally move heaven and earth to bring him to heel. It is almost a love hate relationship. Matt Jacobs has buried his roots and his beliefs beneath a veneer of civilisation that is enabled by his vast wealth and his army of followers, who are not all that they seem! The relationship that these two very committed and determined men have is about to come to a head. If John does not get his act together it will not only he his neck on the line but people he loves and admires.

To spice up the action there of course needs to be some beautiful women and I like the way that John Howell does not go down the traditional route of blonde bombshells who are purely decorative. Both Stephanie and Sarah are bright intelligent women who find themselves embroiled in the lives of these two adversaries and their characters are well portrayed. They are women who are prepared to fight for their survival and the ones they love.

This is a fast-paced action thriller and finishes the series well. Which brings me to my overall view of the life and times of John Cannon.

I suggest you read the three books back to back as I have, because the time span the series covers is only six months and there is barely time to catch your breath. With so much action it is easy to miss some of the quieter moments that reveal more about the characters and plot, and these are well worth lingering over. The characters are well developed, and if I was to comment on this element, it would be to say that I felt that Ned, who takes John under his wing, not only deserved a medal, but could have perhaps been fleshed out a little more.

Overall I have rated the series a definite 4+ stars and would recommend the series as one to download and read in a ‘John Cannon Fest‘… I do recommend that you buckle up before getting into the action!
