Fandom: Harry Potter Relationships: Draco Malfoy/Harry Potter, Hermione Granger/Ron Weasley -------------------------------------------------- AU of PoA. Harry wakes in the night to a voice calling him from somewhere in the castle. He follows it- and everything changes.
Lomonaaeren is a fanfiction writer who primarily writes Harry Potter fanfiction. Their work tends to vary widely in terms of theme and genre: horror, humor, pure romance, fluff, action/adventure stories, mysteries, and others. Stories tend to rely heavily on magic and on the psychology of the main characters.
I feel like I've come from the LONGEST journey ever. I think this is the longest fic I've read yet. I remember the beginning, I remember being really excited about Dash and what it meant for Harry. But the middle is blurry. The details have gone all foggy. But the ending was so perfect. There's even a tease about the other world that wizards and goblins came from. The world building was intense. Getting the story from so many perspectives helped see each character in a new way. Happy surprises included Elena Zabini, who is even scarier than in canon. Lucious, who was more human in this one. Severus Snape, who became the first adult that Harry felt safe with.
The major disappointments were Sirius and Remus. I've always thought of them as safe people but they sucked in this AU. That part where he almost bit Harry made me angry, then they just continued sticking to their shitty ways! Dumbledore has always been biased so I expected him to be awful. Voldermort was the same. But so many things happened! And so much magic and history was introduced which always makes me happy. Fanfics add a sort of puzzle piece to the wizarding world.
I felt that some aspects were borrowed from Lightning on the Wave story and I constantly thought how much superior Lightning's storytelling is. Not saying that Lomonaaeren is bad, definitely not: I have read and enjoyed her work before. However this time not so much.
I started reading this book before I was born. It is the year 2042 and I am at the end of chapter 141 and waiting for an update. When I say this is easily the longest thing I've ever read I don't say it lightly. I am a fast reader and I have been reading this thing for days. Imagine my absolute shock when I realized that a fanfic with over half a million words was unfinished. *Insert gif of Soulja boy shouting "Drake" here. How is this possible? Who is this person? Where do they find the energy?? Anyway I wait because I'm thoroughly invested now. I must see the climax.
Brilliant. The development of magical lore was amazing, and the political aspect was great too actually. I will admit that at the beginning I wasn’t that into it, I only persisted because I was intrigued by Dash’s character and how people may react to him. But by a third into it I was convinced it was really good. I would say that the story felt like it was in three parts that all had a different vibe to it. The ending wasn’t the most satisfying… but still enjoyable. I enjoyed the middle build up the best.
i am sitting here, BALLING my eyes out because i can’t believe it’s over. the way dash and harry are engraved in my heart now… i think i left a part of me in this book. (i don’t want it back)
