Ok so I love Zanthiel so much. He is my favorite character in this entire series but I was sooooo sad with the ending of bittersweet. So then when I found out there was a third book, I immediately downloaded it and when I found out that it was all bout Zanthiel, I flipped with joy. But this book was extremely disappointing. 80% of the book, Zanthiel and Sylos were just trying to find Lorelei and then finally when they find her, they are attacked? They don't bring her home, he doesn't even get her near the veil, let alone that he doesn't even tell her how crazy he's gone for her. The ending was great cuz I didn't expect sylos to betray him but wtf! He's imprisoned back in the winter court! What happened to Lorelei? Did she get back home? Did sylos get away? THERE ARE SO MANY UNANSWERED QUESTIONS AND I DEMAND ANOTHER BOOK. MY POOR ZANTHIEL DESERVES A HAPPY ENDING WITH LORELEI. ADRIUS CAN GO DIE IN A HOLE. TEAM Z FOREVER❤
I loved (adored) Fire & Ice, the first book in Michele Barrow-Belisle’s Faerie Song Saga (which I reviewed separately). So much so that I glommed onto the next book in the series, Bittersweet, only to find that it was so addictively good that I simply had to read the next one, Freeze, and then the one after that, Melt, as well. It’s now past 4am. My husband, Mr. I-don’t-snore, has been obliviously, umm, noisily breathing in the Chair next to my bed (I’m in the hospital right now) for hours. I’m going to totally regret the lost sleep tomorrow but I just don’t care. I’m not going to summarize these books as the publisher’s blurbs do a perfectly good job of it. Instead - and I’m going to be careful how I write this so as to not spoil anything - I will simply note that Lorelei and Venus’s stories have left me exhausted (emotionally, that is: we are not taking about being sleep deprived) yet totally fulfilled. These are powerful books. Beautifully written, with superbly crafted characters and with plots that were perfectly executed. I could go on and on with praises - rack of these books definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that it is supremely easy to highly recommend each of them.
I enjoyed this installment of the Faerie Song Saga! The story is told from the viewpoint of Zanthiel and how he struggles to find and help Lorelei is compelling.
Loved getting to see Zanthiel's perspective. I have really enjoyed getting to see his thought process and how he see the world and prophecy. Starting Melt next to see what happens next.
I loved this series until it ended. Is that it? Why put all that time and energy into the second half of the second book and then write this one which resolves absolutely nothing that wasn't resolved by the end of the second book. I'm not even sure Adrius even exists past the end of the second book. He just stands there, a blank character who the plot somehow revolves around but you can barely remember him. The third book should have tied up some things. Like maybe the prophecy. Or whether it will or won't come to pass? Surely there must be a fourth book. This one starts with Zanthiel begging Lorelei to live for him and ends with her begging him to live for her. You know. While she spends her life with Adrius. Why bother with the third book or write the second half of the book at all? It's wasted. The end of the second book is rounded up in a few pages despite major plot bombs dropping. Like, wow! How did that happen? Now what? The end. Except of course in theory she and Adrius run off happily ever after. Give or take Lorelei and Zanthiel begging each other to live for them. If it's resolved in a fourth book I'll come back and give it at least four stars. If this really is the end it gets one star because I suppose the author gets credit for at least having read them after buying them.
It's the ultimate cat and mouse game. You're racing against the clock with an unknown force hunting you and darkness lies in every turn. The problem is, you never know who you can trust.
Freeze starts where Bittersweet ended, with Zanthiel giving the girl he loves to the guy she loves. This book takes you through the darkest parts of the Nevermore on the ultimate quest. It is completely in Zanthiel' s perspective and if you don't become more #TeamZanthiel after reading this then I don't think you ever will. The love, loyalty and devotion he expresses in this book will captivate your heart.
Freeze is so amazingly good!! If you liked Fire and Ice and Bittersweet then you will love this book too Michele's writing is flawless!
Idk why I am so invested in this series but I need the final book to come out NOW PLEASE IM LITERALLY DYING IVE WAITED SO LONG PLEASE SAY THIS SERIES IS CONTINUING DONT LEAVE ME IN THE DARK ZANTHIEL X LORELEI FOR LIFE
I became obsessed with the book and couldn't, put it down. It was great to see through the eyes of the dark Fae. I wouldn't want to meet on. Once again great story.
Good to get so much from Zanthiel's perspective. Even though the novella ends in a very dark place there still seems hope for a happier ending for our friends.
