Mid-18th century North America is a hotbed of unrest between many Native American tribes, who are feuding over territory. By this time, most of the Kiowa bands have been pushed west by the Lakota, who are on the move southward from the Great Lakes region. These invaders from the north want the game-rich, lush pasture lands of the territory for themselves.
However, one small Kiowa band is determined to remain in their early homelands in the region of what will be one day known as eastern South Dakota. These two enemy tribes are brought face-to-face through the vision of a young Kiowa medicine man.
Sky Dancer, a beautiful, Kiowa widow, and proud Lakota warrior, Dark Horse, are forced to marry in order to create an alliance between their peoples. Right from the beginning they clash in a test of wills, loathing each other on sight, making a happy marriage seem out of the question.
Will the sacrifice that is asked of them save their tribes? Can these two enemies overcome their initial hatred to find love in unlikely place or will distrust keep them from the reward they both crave?
Writing has been a passion of mine since I was in high school. I attended Full Sail University, where I honed my craft. I live in Pennsylvania and I’m an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. I enjoy singing and performing in theatrical endeavors when I’m not writing.
I'm currently writing two series: The Chance City Series (Sensual Western Historical Romance) and The Paha Sapa Saga (Sensual Native American Romance). I have other projects coming this year and I'll keep you up-to-date on them.
My stories are sensual, but although my love scenes are spicy, they aren't overly graphic. I no longer have sweet versions of my books available. Sorry for any inconvenience that causes. Regarding the way I use POV: I'm a former script writer and I write my books as though they are a TV episode or a play. You'll "see" each character's reaction to other characters or whatever is going on in the story.
Although each of my books includes a complete HEA and can be read as a stand alone, it's best to read them in order since I have an ensemble "cast", with characters from earlier books appearing in each of the books as each of the series continues.

Hostel tribes form an alliance through marriage for protection.
Two Waring tribes form an alliance for protection. The woman who marries her enemy has her dead husband and daughter on her mind. Will her new husband be able to break through her defenses. The two tribes has many differences to adjust to living together and protecting themselves from an invading tribe. The characters are well written and have their faults and good in them. The storyline is strong and pulls you in and keeps you hooked. I can't wait to read the other books in this series. This is a must read for anyone who loves Native people and stories.
I listened to this audiobook in exchange for an honest book review. I honestly loved this book. A man and a woman from two warring Indian tribes enter into marriage to form an allegiance to one another. A young medicine man also builds his confidence and walks in his purpose as the two tribes come together to battle an even stronger tribe. As I listened to this book the performance made me smile. I have never read anything by this author, but I will definitely have to explore more of her work in the future.
Received this book as a prize. This is the story about Sky Dancer and Dark Horse. She is Kiowa and he is Lakota. Sky has been widowed and lost her daughter both to a white man's sickness. Her grandfather who is a chief made a deal with Dark Horse to marry her if his chief wanted to see Chirping Criket (the medicine man/boy) and so the story begins. It is a rough start and many tragedy's, but triump will prevail.
Sky Dancer had one crafty grandpa and he paired her with the right warrior! I am stunned how much adversity they had to over come just to realize they really loved each other. Her looking her husband and child. Being of different tribes and learning to speak the different languages of each of their tribes. A young medicine man who made everyone laugh but yet became very respected ! I love this book !!
I started out with book three, read all three books. These books really held my interest and I loved all the characters and personalities. I loved how they were not always perfect. The conflicts they had to get through in their minds and hearts. Really good reads for me! Thank you Robin, looking forward to more of your books!!
This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. I loved the characters. The emotions everything about this book made me feel it was real and I am so excited to read more of this saga .
Loved the start of Robin Deeter's new series. Such an authentic feel for the Native American tribes in this book. I think Chirping Cricket is my favorite character so far.
This was a very well told Native American love story and story in general it’s hard to find good Native American stories that I like to read. I highly recommend this one
A passionate Indian love story joining two Indian cultures. Main characters are strong...supporting characters keep the plot interesting and flowing. Definitely worth the 5 stars.
I love this & I can't wait for more. I will be also leaving a review on Goodreads @ Amazon. And letting everyone know about it. So i gave it a 5 Stars.
I have been intrigued by Native American History my entire life. Having a few drops of that blood enriching my veins, I find stories about that heritage to be fascinating. I have always related to things of a Druidic Nature and love living in a place that affords me the ability to spend quality time in the great mountainous outdoors. Sacrifice and Reward, the novel, was touching and poignant to me. I appreciated the fine detail of the living culture.
While there was a sense of present-day attitudes and language in the expressions of the characters, it was still entertaining. I can not imagine those people speaking in that way but it was still good to read and perhaps provided more understanding of the emotions, beliefs and the attitudes so as to make a tale that was indeed enjoyable. This may be especially true because it is essentially a romance novel. I can take some of that as long as there is a rich and diverse story to go with it. This one delivers that and I will look for another novel from this author to enjoy.
This is my first time reading anything by the author and I must say I really enjoyed the first novel of the Paha Sapa Saga. As stated in the blurb, the Lakota and Kiowa need to form an alliance because the Ojibway are closing in on their territory. In numbers, they might stand a chance to save their homeland. I must say, being Ojibway, I enjoyed catching a glimpse of them in the novel. Anyhoo, back to the review.
I really liked Sky Dancer. It was refreshing to meet a widowed woman who is still deeply grieving for the loss of her husband and daughter. I can only imagine the pain she suffered, and this come through in the novel. Two big losses. Two of the most important people in her life.
I absolutely love this book! Amazing character development! The characters are fantastic, I fell in love with all of them. The union that was created between the two tribes is powerful. Sky Dancer and Dark House overcame a lot together, grief, anger, and hate. I really like both Chiefs. And of course, the young Medicine Man, Chirping Cricket, is very entertaining. Really fantastic Native American fiction.
This book has turned only what we have read in school about the American Indian, into a live people that have real feelings, thoughts and emotions. Thank you for bringing these wonderful people alive. Even if it is a work of fiction, I have thoroughly enjoyed this book and will look forward to the next book in the 2 book series
This book is a wonderful mix of historical fiction and romance. It is both poignant and compelling. It is a story of a proud people facing extinction with bravery, ingenuity. A sweet love story threads it's way through the story showing that as we are so different, some things 're!son the same across time and people.
I have limited knowledge of the lives and conditions of the American Indian. I do know their daily lives were a struggle with nature and other tribes. This is a wonderful story of loss, love and sacrifice for survival amid tribal divisions.
A medicine man who sees the future, calls the buffalo which brings a hunting party from another tribe. A marriage is forced between the 2 tribes, and this is their story. I believe this is a good read.
Robin Deeter has done it again, a whole new cast of characters and I am already in love! This book has it all, heartbreak, action, love and history... I can't wait for the next book in this series to see how this motley crew of characters develop.
