This book is a fantastic contradiction of sadistic romanticism that will keep you riveted and swooning to the very end. A poetic collection of heartfelt sentiments that will make you wonder how they could be written by a whip wielding Dominant...and then --you're introduced to the rough edges and the wonder is gone.
Even in its harshest tone, the words come out (dare i say) "pretty" at times. There's a genuine feeling that the author has the kindest heart with hands that hold a fierce whip in one hand and a wicked pen in the other.
These poems and short stories reveal themselves as a diary of a Dominant with a surprising soul bearing candidness.
I applaud HL37 for so beautifully showing that a Dominant who plays rough can still be pleasant enough to honor those he plays with in such a tender way. The playfulness in some of the stories is absolutely fun loving -- if your idea of fun includes whips, rope, and nipple clamps. o.O
HL37 promises "Trust me...this is going to leave a mark." and he delivers with this book!
I recommend this book for lovers of poetry, BDSM, erotica, and romance with a kinky twist and a rough edge.

Oh my, this book took me to a new level, it was so sensual that I had to stop a couple of times. "Reprieve" was my favorite poem, i can't explain why it pulled me in but it has been on my mind since reading it. I definitely recommend this book, especially to couples, read it together to experience a whole new world!

I haven’t read any poetry in quite some time that I felt really touched me, so I wanted to give this collection of erotic poetry and short-stories a chance to do that for me. Unfortunately, I must say that I just don’t think poetry is my thing anymore. However, with that said, I did enjoy this collection for what it was. It only took me a lunch to get through it all, and the poetry (for the most part) is very spot on for its subject matter; D/s relationships and the feelings that accompany it. I was glad to not find too much purple prose within the collection and the sentiments were very clear and not at all ambiguous. I knew exactly the feeling each poem and short story was meant to portray. I do like to be able to read between the lines, but there are just too many authors out there that think poetry has to be super fantastical and they go over the top with their thesaurus. This collection was straight to the point.
All in all, it was a good way to spend an afternoon lunch but I think I’m done with poetry. At least for a while. It just doesn’t have the pull for me that it used to.

HL37's work is sexy, gritty, kinky, at times touching/at times disturbing, well-crafted, and intriguing. I recommend this collection of poems and short pieces to any reader who enjoys (or has interest in) the psychology of BDSM, raw eroticism, AND sadomasochism. The collection provides fascinating insight into the psyche of a sadistic Dom and ranges from unabashedly romantic to unapologetically sadistic. The eponymous poem is my current favorite, but I will be rereading this book. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Every now and then an author comes along that uproots you from your current life and effortlessly draws you into their mind. HL37’s words command your attention and interest from the start. By the end of the first piece titled “evidence”, the pounding of your own heart will serve as evidence that HL37 is indeed a special breed of authors and you’re now addicted to his style.
HL37 is what many would refer to as an “ultimate storyteller.” He pulls and tugs readers in a particular direction and just when you think you know where he’s headed, he takes you off the beaten path on an exhilarating ride that reaches the far corners of his mind. His piece titled “afraid” is some of the finest storytelling of this kind.

Make Me Take It From You contains brilliantly written erotic poetry and short stories that will have you glued to the pages, breathless, heart pounding, and aching to be marked!
I loved the title piece, Make Me Take It From You, but have a hard time picking a favorite. Lightning, Fists Full of You, and Morning Sex, gah...yes please!!!! All This Talk About Hair Pulling....definitely left me tingling!Tandem Quetra i think is one of my faves, but then theres The Mark, The Trust, The Comfort, The View The Primal, and The Patience- like i said, i really have a hard time picking what ine i like best.
Each reader will be able to find something inMake Me Take It From You that resonates with them. In No Kitten Leave Them On,, i found myself wanting the comfort and care she was given. The Ritual....i found a piece of myself in.
But maybe, just maybe, Safe Harbor for the Troubles of Your Day should be voted my favorite, as the words are still whispered in my thoughts "Offer me your vulnerability and i will return it transformed into strength" I mean REALLY! Who doesn't want that!?!
HL37 left his mark on me, and left me wanting more!

Received from the author in exchange for an honest review via the BDSM Group on Goodreads.
This wasn’t a bad little book, filled with brief snippets of ideas, lives and fantasies, in various formats.
I tend to prefer my poetry raw and honest, rather than overly polished, yet I found several of the poems here to be too raw, which might seem a strange statement for anyone who has ever read my poems. I like honest feelings that are obvious, where you don’t have to hunt for a meaning. The meanings here were clear, yet some of the poems, for me, lost emotion due to being, perhaps, too wordy, or written in a way that didn’t flow as well. You don’t necessarily need many words to express an idea, but if the flow isn’t right, the ideas stutter, and it’s harder for a reader to focus. Even so, there were good ideas in here and I believe that my favourite was “between your shoulders lies a sleeping dragon”. I also liked “I will hold your breath” because of the repeats throughout and how the lines flowed.
As for the short stories, these were much better overall. I can’t really say that I have a favourite there, but I was impressed in how the ideas were near-perfect self-contained scenes that didn’t need any further elaboration.
All in all, an enjoyable first insight into the author’s mind.

This little book is like a scattering of semi-precious stones mixed in with a handful of gravel. As you read, some of the pieces have the shine of a faceted amethyst or the spark of a fire opal. What appeals will depend on the reader. For me, the poetry at the beginning of the book was the best. The author is good at taking a moment in time and crystallizing the emotion, thoughts, and sensations of that instant. When he broadens his timeline he’s not as deft.
His subject matter is what you’d expect from a guy into making his own whips, enough brutality to make a masochist come undone. Yet, there’s a thread of need matching need running through it all.
I’d love to read more of his poetry. It tugs at you and forces you to consider kink from the perspective of the people inhabiting his words.

They are a deep and poetically descriptive look at the power and emotions that is shared within a BDSM exchange. This is a book I will leave on my shelf and come back to again and again.

This book is a journey into the realms of the unknown for me and I loved how our author put all into his verse..
I loved his play on words and I really enjoyed the interaction in his poems, I also enjoyed that it's written from a male perspective which gives us a different view of the relationships between. His dominance yet surrender... Her sum mission yet power.. The care Mine !!!!
This is a book I will be revisiting over and over, just to get my fill of the rose tattoo, so I can belong to daddy, mine, for my fill of discipline, X salt and honey

I have read this book in one sitting. Not because it was short, but because I needed to read more. This is a book of poetry and short stories. This author definitely has a way with words. Each new story made me want to delve into the next one. My personal favorite were the short stories. Such a great read. It's interesting reading the author's view of this lifestyle.

This books is the perfect blend of savory and sweetness, gentle with a bit of rough and sigh ending in a yawn. I love erotic poetry but most that I have read is written by women. I enjoyed the masculine, dominate and powerful images these poems evoked. They are very sexy and a turn on. The words of the short stories is more poetry than prose written with a magicians pen. I am so looking forward to more poetry and prose from HL37.

I love this book to dip in and out of. It's different from anything I've read before, yes the poems are about sex in particular BDSM but it's not without emotion and the feeling of love and respect ( as it should be) , I haven't added a finish date because I never will, it's one I will pick up when I need it. I have kindle addition but would love a paperback to add notes . I hope this isn't a one of from HL37

Having never been a fan of poetry I was pleasantly surprised by how much I truly enjoyed this. The words held so much feeling and emotion of all forms. My favorites were "Fist Full of You", "Lightning", "Make Me Take It From You" and "Tandem Deux". I am so looking forward to the next compilation of words that come from HL37.

The poetry portion of the compilation was vivid in its expressions. I was able to clearly visualize the "action". The short stories were reminiscent of vignettes. An entertaining collection.
