When her mother’s incessant matchmaking hits an all-time high, Georgie Archibald does what any sensible woman would do: she flees the country.

Seeking refuge in the picturesque seaside village of Vernazza, Italy, Georgie’s only plan is to lie low, gorge herself on gelato, and let the wine and waves wash her troubles away... that is until she wakes up in a bed that belongs to the most romantic-looking man she’s ever seen.

Gianluca.

After going out of his way to rescue her, the former London financier turned mysterious recluse makes it clear that despite acting as her white knight, he has no plans to co-star in her fairytale.

But Georgie isn’t asking for his heart—she’s merely intrigued.

After all, Gianluca isn’t just gorgeous—tall and tan from days spent in the sun—his touch sets her world on fire. With him, Georgie experiences the most intoxicating passion she’s ever known, and it only takes a few steamy nights for her to realize that sometimes running away from trouble is the best way to find it.

Once again, R. S. Grey delivered a delightful, entertaining read that suck me in from the very beginning. 'A place in the Sun' was wonderfully written, a fantastic blend of sweetness and sexiness that I had so much fun and pleasure reading it. The beautiful location simply bewitched me from the very beginning and I truly think Rachel outdid herself with her fantastic, effortless storytelling and vivid descriptions. While reading this one, I really felt like I was there, in Vernazza, Italy with all these characters I fell in love with from the moment I met them.

“The day I got intimidated by another woman would be the day I was no longer Georgie Archibald.”

'A place in the Sun' tells the story of Georgie Archibald, a twenty-six years old young woman who simply wants an escape. She wants to escape her overcontrolling mother who thinks she’s time for her to settle down, trying to play matchmaker with every opportunity. Georgie wants to find love, of course, recently starting to feel a bit lonely, but she wants to find it on her own terms. One day, Georgie does the unthinkable – in others opinion – and she goes to Italy, trying to find some peace and quit in Vernazza, a picturesque seaside village.

“…he was romantic looking, the sort of man who breathes passion into life without even trying.”

Georgie never thought she will need some rescuing in her first day in the beautiful village. Her savior is a tall and handsome Italian man, who doesn’t seem to want anything to do with her. However, Georgie is more than intrigued. Luca doesn’t want to love or to be loved. Once upon a time, he had it all, until he lost everything and he became a shell of a man. Forced by some circumstances, Georgie and Luca start to spend some time together, but their dynamic starts to change when Georgie decides to renovate Luca’s B&B, with or without his consent.

“When she smiled, the world smiled with her, and more than once, I found myself wishing I was the man she deserved to be with, the one she had come to Italy to find.”

This was such a lovely read! I loved the story line and how the story unfolded. Rachel writes amazing heroines and she did a wonderful job with our heroine here, Georgie. She was such a great gal. She was endearing, well portrayed and I had such a great time reading her adventure. I fell in love with this fun, stubborn, bold, full of life heroine from the very begging and I loved her persistence, perseverance and tenacity. I love a strong heroine who knows what she wants and Georgie was exactly that and more.

Luca was a great hero as well. He had lived in denial, feeling guilty for what happened with him in the past for so many years. Poor Luca…I really felt for him. In some way, I even understood his reasoning for not wanting or more exactly for not feeling ready for a new relationship. At first he was anti-social and a little bit of a douche, but as the story unfolded and Georgie started to bring down his walls, he became another man – sweet, fun, attentive, considerate, overall, a fantastic hero.

I loved the slow burn relationship between these two characters. It was fantastically done and the progression from friends to lovers was simply great. I even loved the animosity between them in the beginning. The two characters felt real, had depth, so their relationship felt realistic as well. Georgie and Luca were fantastic together and I enjoyed their friendship as much as I enjoyed their romance. They were sweet, fun, sexy and they complemented each other perfectly. Needless to say, I loved Luca found Georgie and open his heart to a new love.

Overall, 'A Place in the Sun' was a wonderful read filled with pretty much everything I adore in a good romantic comedy. I highly recommend this delightful read!

I absolutely loved this story!!! It had a lovable and endearing Heroine, a beautiful but broken Hero, and one of the most exotic locales as its backdrop. It felt like I was taken on a beautiful and at times heartbreaking journey that I never wanted to end. After reading this story I am sure that like me, you all will want to take a trip to Vernazza and just bask in the warm glow of the sun as it falls upon the beautiful Italian Riviera!!! Make sure you’ve cleared your schedule and that you will have no interruptions because once you start reading this book, you are not going to want to put it down for anything!!

Georgie Archibald is at a crossroads in her life. At twenty-six-years-old, she has yet to fall in love and has no prospects worthy of marrying. Her mother continues to set her up on one blind date disaster after another. Georgie, ever the dutiful daughter, placates her mom and goes out on these dates, all the while knowing that nothing will come of them. There’s always something not quite right about each man she has been set up with. Tired of all the horrific set-ups, Georgie packs her bags and escapes to Vernazza, Italy on a whim. Seeing as her luck in the romance department has been bleak in London, she thinks maybe a change of scenery will lead her to her romance of a lifetime. It turns out to be the best decision she has ever made.

 photo Teaser 1_zpsd23zxmxc.png

On her first day in Vernazza, Georgie was a bit queasy and dehydrated from her long train ride and ends up fainting in the town square. Luckily for her someone sees her and rushes to her rescue. One seriously beautiful and rather broody Italian man named, Gianluca. From the moment she sets eyes on Gianluca, Georgie is more than a bit taken with him. Normally she’s not one who is at a loss for words but she finds herself tongue-tied and flustered whenever he’s around. Gianluca is not an easy man to decipher. He’s beautiful but also extremely standoffish. He keeps everyone but his cousin at an arms-length distance. He’s haunted by a tragedy and not willing to let go of the past. But Georgie is determined to get through to him, and so she propositions him. His Nonna left him her bed & breakfast after she passed away and it has sat boarded up for years. Georgie offers to help renovate and reopen it. She’s decided that she wants to extend her stay in Vernazza and maybe she might make it a permanent one if they are able to reopen the establishment and she were to run it as the Manager. Luca is vehemently against it at first and is more than a little abrasive towards Georgie, but she doesn’t take no for an answer. Soon enough she gets Luca to see things her way.

 photo Teaser 2_zpsdzmxuwvl.png

As they start to spend every day working on the renovation, Georgie is able to slowly chip away at the thick wall Luca had built around himself. Soon they become good friends. At first, Luca is offering to help her find a man but not too much time will pass before they are giving in to their strong attraction for each other. The plan is to keep it casual. There will be plenty of out of this world sex but with the understanding that nothing serious can come of it because Luca’s heart is not open to love. Georgie thinks that she is fine with their arrangement but how can she be when she’s fallen hopelessly in love with him. When she realizes that she’s just about lost the woman she used to be in order to take what little Luca is able to offer her, she must decide whether or not she can be happy with the status quo or can she walk away to ultimately protect her heart from utter devastation?

Want to read a seriously intoxicating story that will sweep you off your feet? Are you ready to add one more amazing book boyfriend to your favorite list? Then make every effort to read this one ASAP!!

A good story should transport us to a world beyond ours, where we travel through the lives of the unforgettable characters. A book that leaves you with many experiences.......

A Place in the Sun by R S Grey was one of those books.
I found myself in a "pleasurable trance-like" state from the 1st to the last page!!

There were many things I loved about this book........but the top 3 had to be - Georgie, Gianluca and Italy!

I adored this character!! She's the kind of person I want to be around with. She's like a breath of fresh air. She's open and full of life. Thoughtful, kind, feisty, fun and like me......follows her heart!!! She's impossible not to fall in love with.

Gianluca

Dark, brooding and beautiful. Mourning the death of his wife, he's become a loner and a man of a few words. I loved watching him being captivated by the bright and shiny star that was Georgie Archibald!!!

The settings:The settings really brought the story to life - the sensory input - I could smell the sea, taste the croissant and wine, watch the beautiful sunset................

The seaside towns of the Cinque Terre area is one of the my favourite parts of Italy.

Vernazza............Monterosso, Riomaggiore, Manarola........ photo a40a7ac50abea14389d67500c266af35_zpsqp4g8cq0.jpg and piazzas. Pulled right into the lives of the locals. Eating gelato, hiking through the little towns, eating fresh strawberries on the beach..............

The secondary characters were just as fun, charming, and enjoyable and Georgie and Gianluca.

Great writing, the story flows beautifully and keeps you captivated long after you've turned the last page. Fab dialogue............humorous, witty an absolute delightful.

What a beautiful and perfect epilogue. It left me with tingles in my heart!!

This is the sweetest and lovable and romantic love story.

Sorry...gotta go....I'm off to Italy........hopefully I will meet up with Georgie & Gianluca and their friends.............

"Oh my Liam Neeson. I've been taken!"”

Georgie Archibald has left London for Italy in hopes of getting away from her matchmaker mother and perhaps find a wonderful Italian man on her own. Georgie is a quirky, funny, kind, and a completely lovable heroine. She arrives in Vernazza, Italy and makes a great group of friends including the handsome and broody Gianluca.

“…he was romantic looking, the sort of man who breathes passion into life without even trying.”

description

The story is a delightful read and the author definitely succeeded in conveying the sights, sounds, of this beautiful town. Georgie falls in love with a rundown inn located in the heart of the town. She's surprised to find that Gianluca owns this once beauty. She offers to become partners to bring the inn back to life and perhaps find a purpose in this town. Ginaluca and Georgie’s relationship is well paced as is the banter and chemistry between these two.

”He wasn’t meant to be my forever, but forever was a long way away. I could live in the moment and soak him in while I was still able to, right?”

description

Gianluca lost his wife to cancer five years prior and feels like he still isn't in any position to get involved with anyone. His fall for Georgie was an exciting and swoon worthy one.

”Georgie was more than any man could hope for in life. To have her love and attention was like standing beneath the scorching sun on a summer day: suffocating and sustaining all at once.”

description

The story does throw a standard situation towards the end which for me was so not needed. The story is nevertheless a sweet breathe of fresh sea breeze air and has increased my desire to travel to Italy someday.

Review at Of Pens and Pages

A Place in the Sun has found a place in my heart. Cheesiness aside, I made the right choice in reading this book as my first R.S. Grey book. This story had a sweet and sexy, friends-to-lovers romance set in the beautiful island of Vernazza, Italy with a brooding Italian hero and a sassy, headstrong heroine who flees to Italy to find love.

Georgie Archibald is twenty six years old and still single. Her mother believes she's on her way to spinsterhood and found it her mission to find Georgie a husband. After countless miserable blind dates, she was done. Instead of telling her mother to stop from setting her up, Georgie flies to Italy to stay away for a while.

Her trip would have been perfect if she didn't have to ride the train to Vernazza. By the time she arrived at the picturesque town, she was too dehydrated and weak to even appreciate it. She wakes up in a closed, run-down B & B and finds out two Italian men saved her when she fainted the moment she arrived. She meets the tall and handsome Gianluca who, unfortunately, wasn't interested.

Gianluca has no intentions of ever falling in love again. After a tragic incident that leaves him heartbroken, he could never give himself to anyone the way he did before. But Georgie was a force to be reckoned with. Not only did she force her way into restoring his family's old bed and breakfast, she slowly (read: forcefully) snuck her way into his heart.

It had a bit of a slow burn feel to it. And you know how much I love my slow burns! From strangers to acquaintances to partners to friends to FWB then to forever. Luca and Georgie had a few stops before reaching their HEA, but their budding friendship and romance was so endearing to read.

At first, he’d pick a spot across the room from me, but over the last few weeks, I’d been able to coax him closer with flaky croissants. Just like the boat cats.”

And reading about the places Georgie has been to, food she ate, wine she drank, I wanted to book a flight to Italy. I loved how detailed R.S. Grey described the setting without overdoing it.

As much as I loved Georgie and her no-nonsense attitude, I didn't like how she confronted Gianluca about his past after meeting only a few weeks ago. I know Gianluca needed tough love, but I wish Georgie would have gone about it in a less callous way. Other than that, I enjoyed getting to know this ball of sunshine. It was especially entertaining to watch her pursue/pester Gianluca into becoming friends with her and more.

To have her love and attention was like standing beneath the scorching sun on a summer day: suffocating and sustaining all at one.”

And I love love love Gianluca! The brooding hero is my kryptonite. He started off as this standoffish guy who kept almost everyone except his friends at an arm's length. He didn't care for Georgie at first and he found her pushiness annoying, but as they worked together on restoring the bed and breakfast, he started warming up to her. You guys don't know how much I screamed because of the feels. I had to cover my mouth to stop myself from scaring my neighbors. FEELS.

A Place in the Sun is a sexy romantic comedy told in alternating POVs between Gianluca and Georgie. It's a perfect read when you need a pick-me-up––sweet, sexy, funny, and beautiful. If you're a lover of brooding heroes, quirky and bold heroines, and a romance and friendship that would leave a smile on your face, you'll love this book.

Georgie is looking for love, and decides to travel to Italy. There she meets Gianluca, a mysterious man. From the first moment I wanted to know more about him and his past. I'm afraid I'll be steering myself away from R.S. Grey books for a while. It just doesn't work for now. I think With This Heart will always remain my favorite book written by her. It was so much better. *sigh

A Place in the Sun opens when Georgie Archibald abruptly packed her things up for a trip to Vernazza, Italy due to her mom's incessant lecture on how she should take time for a relationship. In Vernazza she met two Italian cousins namely Massimo and the hot incarnate Gianluca/"Luca". Georgie instantly got intrigued and became attracted to Luca but the Italian man wasn't that into her because up to that moment, he still hasn't moved on from the death of his late wife.

The setting was so enchanting and the way the tourist spots were described was well-detailed and I think that's the only thing I found fascinating here. I didn't particularly connect with the characters and their story. The fact that Georgie was obsessing over Luca for almost every part of the book also didn't help. It really frustrates me when heroines force themselves to guys who don't even consider throwing the attention back.

"To me, Gianluca is the sun."

Both characters lacked chemistry and spark and at times I felt the romance was forced. I wasn't also convinced when it comes to the ending. And that certain thing that happened to Georgie which changed everything in the end... it was unnecessary. A Place in the Sun, as whole, was difficult for me to like. If you love romance books that are set in beautiful places like Italy though, I think you still have to try this book. :)

I really enjoyed this book, it was my first from this author and I think it was a great one to start with. Plus, I have come to find I enjoy Italian men a lot more in books than I do in real life!

A Place in the Sun is the story of Georgie, a British girl who spur of the moment travels to Italy to escape her well meaning but smothering mother. There she travels to the seaside town of Vernazza, a cliffside beach town. Georgie makes an eventful entrance to the small down, and soon becomes friends with the locals. But she is entranced by Gianluca, a widower with so many walls around him no one can break through.

Over time Georgie worms her way into a friendship and work relationship with Luca. The two get along well, and there may be something more. But Luca still loves his wife, and there isn't room for anyone else.

I have to say near the beginning of this book I was thinking it might now have been for me. Georgie is very much the character that went after Luca, and with my romance I prefer when the guy pursues the girl instead of the other way around. But I think RS Grey did a good job with this because Georgie wasn't being insensitive, she knew just how far to push Luca before backing off. And then they became friends so it was no longer a chase.

Second half of the book was way more my style, with steamy parts and angsty parts. We finally got to the meat of the story with the second half, delving into Luca's issues and Georgie's insecurities. I like that Georgie was confident, yet she didn't want to make a fool of herself. She was a good heroine because she showed vulnerability to the reader and it made her human to me.

This book can easily be read as a summer romance, or any other time of year! I found myself longing for a beach of my own now in the colder months of fall. This book will make you crave gelato, wine and Italian men! I cannot wait to try more books by this author, she did a splendid job with this book and left me wanting more.

❝When she smiled, the world smiled with her, and more than once, I found myself wishing I was the man she deserved to be with, the one she had come to Italy to find.❞

My expectations weren't very high going into A Place in the Sun. In fact, I was just kind of anticipating a DNF because that's just how shitty my luck is in finding romance books I actually like. Thankfully, this book proved me wrong.

A Place in the Sun wasn't really at the top of TBR pile but so many people were promoting this book like crazy on social media to the point where it actually got pretty annoying lol. I literally could not get away from all the people promoting this book because the cover was plastered on every other Instagram story, Instagram post, and Twitter post. So I thought, "Okay. Maybe they'll go away once I decide to read the book." Well, it didn't actually work since people are still raving about it, but at least I was able to find another romance book that I could give a 5-star rating to. Which some people know is a pretty big deal when it comes to me because I could probably count the romance books I gave 5 stars to this whole year on one hand.

But A Place in the Sun really took me by surprise. I read it within a few hours and one sitting! I was up until 3:00 in the morning trying to finish the book because I just could not put it down. I don't think I've actually read a romance book that was able to make me laugh as much as it made me swoon and I just loved that so much. I wish this book came out in the summer because it was honestly the perfect summer romance!

I loved how bubbly and relatable Georgie was. I loved her sense of humor and all in all, she was actually a very likable character throughout the whole story, a feat that I think a lot of romance authors struggle to accomplish when it comes to me haha. Gianluca was a sweetheart! He was super swoonworthy and I felt like he didn't even have to try. Together, they made such a perfect pair and brought out the best in each other. Their moments were always cute, romantic, and so very passionate. A Place in the Sun really had it all and left me wanting to travel to Italy to find an Italian man of my own! XD

I've never read a book written by R.S. Grey but now she's definitely on my radar. A Place in the Sun was everything I never knew I was looking for in a romance book and I'm glad that I decided to pick this book up. I miss reading a book that I could binge read until the sun comes up and I'm happy I found that in A Place in the Sun. I'll definitely be looking forward to reading R.S. Grey's other books because I have a feeling that I just found a new favorite author of mine.

I love it completely! This book stole all my attention from beginning to end. It is so bright, cheerful, and at the same time carries sizable emotional charge. I don't think, I quickly forget my new favorite heroine Georgie Archibald.

About the plot: Georgie is twenty-six years old, but her mother claims that she is already a spinster. She arranges blind dates for her, but no one attracted Georgie's attention. Determined to take her love life into her own hands, she escapes to Italy to find a husband herself. She ends up in the picturesque village, Vernazza. But with Georgie, it's never so easy. She collapses on the square, and to her rescue must come two men.

After awkward situation when she wakes up, her eye immediately catches a beautiful stranger, Gianluca. She tries to meet him again, but even when it will happen he is not interested. Gianluca has a past that haunts him and he doesn't pay attention to a lot of things. But Georgie wouldn't be herself, if it would stopped her. She is intrigued and trying to befriend him anyway.

“My heart sputtered to a stop. God, he was romantic looking, the sort of man who breathes passion into life without even trying.”

Final thoughts: I didn't know about this at the beginning but it's about Georgie, Frederick Archibald's sister form The Summer Games: Settling the Score. I loved her already, and I really wanted to read a book about her. What a surprise, I just had it in my hands. My joy knew no bounds. Maybe it's why I love it so much. Or because it simply is hilarious!

In a sense, it is a hate to love story. He wasn't an easy case but thanks to this it was refreshing and unique. And it gave a great playing field for our heroine. I have to admit I have a crush on her. She has a colorful soul and is full of optimism. Determined, stubborn, outspoken, cheerful. I can go on and on.

“Holy shit! Did you just laugh? Or is that just some strange new sound you make when you’re brooding?”

I laughed so many times, I could quote these texts for hours. Definitely you shouldn't read this outside, because convulsive laughter are guaranteed. Well, unless don't embarrass you strange looks from people, you can always take the example of Georgie. It certainly wouldn't stop her.

So far you can think that Gianluca is a jerk. He was maybe a little, but then rewarded it a hundred times. I love how they develop friendship and then love. Their exchanges were hilarious.

“Do you want to know why I stuff candy in my pockets in the mornings?”
“You fancy a bit of diabetes?”
“It’s a reward system. Every time I get you to talk, I reward myself with a piece of chocolate.”

And then the sexual tension reached its peak. Excellently written bedroom scenes. It was sinfully hot but also romantic. It also has an emotional side. His past and what they have to go through to really be together, can squeeze a small tear or two. It is more complex than just a trip after love.

“Loving Georgie took courage I hadn’t known I still had, courage that at times seemed like an act of sheer folly.”

This whole book is that, what you think, when you imagine Italy. Hot summer, wine, gelato, fun, beach, and friends. Dreamy sigh. It also has everything what you're looking for in a romantic comedy. A huge number of funny scenes and situations, bold heroine, romantic-looking hero. It guarantees a lot of smile through the whole book. I highly recommend it.

The words that describe it: Hot, emocional, awesome heroine, laught out laught, hate to love, romantic comedy, standalone, Italy!

This book has consumed me from the inside out - heart, body, and soul. I would love nothing more than to reread this beautiful piece of work right now and I might have already if all my unread books weren't screaming at me. R.S. Grey has been on my auto-buy list for awhile now (for good reason!) and she never ceases to amaze me with her creativity. You know how a lot of romance novels tend to blend in after so long? That's not something I have ever experienced with R.S. Grey. Each and every character she writes has distinctive qualities about them and the storylines are always fun and original.

Twenty-six year old Georgie Archibald is fed up of her mothers matchmaking and pushing her to lock down a husband. It's not as if she doesn't want to settle down, in fact she's been growing a bit lonely and would love nothing more than someone to spend her life with. But after many failed set ups with just about every eligible bachelor under the sun, she decides to take matters into her own hands and take an extended holiday. Leaving her destination to chance and the spin of a globe, Georgie is off to the sunny seaside village - Vernazza, Italy.

It doesn't take long for Georgie to meet Gianluca, the most handsome man she's ever laid eyes on. Tall, dark, and Italian - Georgie is smitten right from the start. If only her longing were reciprocated, the whole finding a husband business would be a piece of cake.

Gianluca is no stranger to loss and has no desire to fall in love. No matter how hard his loved ones have tried, the walls Luca has built around himself have been impenetrable for years and he'd be damned to let a spoiled rich girl on holiday infiltrate them. Despite his best efforts, circumstance leads them to working together and a friendship slowly begins to build, growing stronger each day. As their bond grows so does their attraction to one another and there comes a point where neither can deny their feelings any longer.

We briefly met Georgie in a previous book and I know I speak for everyone when I say that I have been dying for this girls book since her first words spoken! She's someone that everyone wishes were their best friend - kind, loyal, down to earth, and always up for a good laugh. Georgie is a fighter and doesn't give up on something that she wants, perseverance always wins out. And Gianluca...boy is this man dreamy! Even when he was closed off in the beginning I found myself gravitating towards him just as Georgie had - I wanted to see him open up, I wanted to see him heal. Once those walls started to crumble we were able to see the incredible nature of Gianluca - a man who loves hard and forever.

There isn't a single thing I don't like about this book! There is so much to love after all. R.S. Grey writes the picturesque Italian setting with so much vivid detail that it was easy to see myself alongside Georgie taking in all the beautiful colors, the sweeping views of the sea, tasting the food, and sipping on wine. The slow burn romance was sweet and delicious and just the right pace to make this romance believable. The side characters are so much more involved than most side characters are and that is one of my favorite things about this book.

I could go on and on but as I said before, I love EVERYTHING about this book. If you love romance then don't take my word for how incredible this is and find out for yourself! A Place in the Sun is a must read and amidst your swooning, I guarantee you'll have one heck of a good time!

Hated it. Almost the entire book the hero is still in love with his dead wife. We get to 67% and the heroine finds his dead wife's clothing, shoes, toothbrush, etc still sitting where she's left it before she died. FIVE YEARS AGO.

She was absolutely 2nd best in this story.

Direct quote at 70%

“You’ll never have room for love as long as she’s there.”
“If you’re asking me to choose you over her, I won’t do it, Georgie. I can’t do it.”

R.S. Grey is my happy place in the sun. She knows when to shine her literary rays of sunshine, laughter, romance, life and love. And in her newest standalone, A Place In The Sun, Rachel has readers like myself itching to pack their bags and book a one way trip to Vernazza, Italy.

photo 58a25a3b6507d7b25f442368fef013_zpsgewvvra4.gif “I was in Italy to find love, after all. How convenient that this romantic-looking man, out of every man in the village, had been the one to rescue me. ”

Honestly, I adore Rachel Grey. She is one of those few authors that I put in a special book bubble. Her books always evoke a sense of happiness, love, and laughter and so it wasn’t a surprise that she once again had my heart bursting with so much love. Not only did I fell in love with the sights and sounds of Italy but I fell in love Rachel’s heartwarming and stunning prose. A Place In The Sun was a fresh breath of air. It had romance, humor, and second chances being doused and sprinkled with rays of light and hope.

Georgie Archibald is looking for love. She is on the hunt for that epic love story that every romance novel talks about. At the young of age of twenty-six, she is feeling the pressure to get married soon. So not wanting her mom to continue bug her, Georgie decides to embark on a trip that will possibly lead her to finding love and what better place to find that in Vernazza, Italy.

photo 58a25a3b6507d7b25f442368fef013_zpsgewvvra4.gif “MY CRUSH ON Gianluca reminded me of the sort I used to have in grade school. It was a quiet, volatile sort of infatuation, the kind rooted mostly in fantasy and lifelike dreams. ”

On her first day in arriving to the small coastal town in Italy, Georgie found herself feeling faint. Soon she was being helped by two gorgeous Italian men. It is there she meets Gianluca and his cousin. Right away, Georgia couldn’t help but be attracted to Gianluca. He was beautiful in every sense of the word. He was like the sun and you couldn’t help but stare and get blinded by his friendliness and handsome features.

#APlaceInTheSun1

As much as Gianluca finds Georgie attractive, he puts a distance between them. Gianluca is still mourning the loss of his wife who died at an early age. The love of his life was gone and ripped from him. But as he begins to spend more time with Georgie, pieces of brokenness begins to heal. And so what happens when Gianluca discovers that he not only wants her to stay in Italy but also by his side? Will Gianluca be able to find a place in his heart to let her fully in and let go of the past?

photo 58a25a3b6507d7b25f442368fef013_zpsgewvvra4.gif “It felt like we were starved for each other, like I’d gone years abstaining from men like Gianluca, and now that he was there, holding me, touching me, kissing me passionately, my body didn’t know how to respond. I wanted more.”

Georgia and Gianluca’s journey from friendship to love was an absolute gem. Though there were a few bumps along the road, Georgie’s bright and colorful personality was able to outshine any cast of darkness and gloom. To say Georgia found her place in the sun was nothing compared to her place right by Gianluca’s side.

With Rachel’s vibrant and fresh voice, she was able to capture the heart and life of her characters. She allowed readers to see, touch, hear, and feel every facets of love, friendship, humor, and hope that was being radiated. The writing was superb. The characters were charismatic. And the story was breathtakingly beautiful. So if you are ready to take a chance on a love story that will make you feel complete and whole, then I highly recommend you to read this book as everyone needs to find their place in the sun.

This book was, "pain and it was bliss, agony and ecstasy." I loved it from the first pages. I loved reading Georgie's story. I loved her before and I loved her more in this one. Her determination, her commitment is resilient. She never gives up what she wants most. And oh my hotness, Gianluca. He changed everything. Aside from his gorgeousness in the first half, I disliked him a bit. I totally understood his situation, however I didn't like how he treated people, Georgie being the main. I loved how this author told this story, it's a beautiful story, a story of finding a second chance at love.

"Georgie wasn't my second love. She was my only love."

If you want a quick, sweet, and a make you feel good story, this is one for you..

*5 Lo Amavo! Lo Amavo! Lo Amavo! Stars*

I LOVED IT!!!

Round and round the globe spins, and wherever her finger lands, Georgie, a native of London, England, plans to travel for the summer in hopes of finding love. So off to Vernazza, Italy, she goes desiring to experience one of those swoony type romances she always hears about. At twenty-six years old, she is finally taking charge of her love life, well actually she is letting it up to fate, but she refuses to go on anymore blind dates her mother, bless her heart, is presently plotting. Oh and yes, fate truly does intervene when she is rescued by the exquisite Italian stallion, Gianluca, after she faints in the town square ;)

This was my first time reading an R.S. Grey novel, and I adored her witty sense of humor. I chuckled right along with the delightful cast of characters she so skillfully created. Georgie and Gianluca were utterly fascinating to get to know as individuals. But as a couple ..... WOW!!! I was totally entertained by their bantering conversations as their personalities clashed, and was completely mesmerized when they succumbed to their undeniable attraction for one another.

The odds of them becoming a couple were stacked against them. Georgie is fired up to have an affair of epic proportions with an Italian hottie, and the second she lays eyes on Gianluca, she's a goner, but he is still nursing a devastating loss from five years prior and has no desire to move on. Many women have tried to console and heal the gorgeous man, and all have failed. But then again, he has never had to square off against the unrelenting, all-encompassing storm named Georgie!

I plan on reading more from Ms. Grey, and if this book is any indication of what she offers, I am in for a great time of reading bliss!

We first met Georgie Archibald in The Summer Games: Settling the Score as Freddie's funny, sweet younger sister. She comes from a wealthy family in London & has an overprotective mother who is constantly trying to run her love life. After a string of disastrous blind dates, Georgie decides she needs a break from her mother. It's time for a change. She's 26 & decides she's going to take matters into her own hands, and be in control of her own destiny. She spins the globe & it lands on Vernazza, Italy. She travels to the beautiful seaside village in hopes of some adventure, & maybe she'll get lucky & also find a gorgeous Italian man.

When Georgie arrives in Vernazza, she makes quite the impression. She isn't feeling so well & a beautiful Italian man comes to her rescue named Gianluca. He's stunning & Georgie quickly develops a crush on him. The problem is Georgie soon learns Luca is considered unattainable. He's had some sadness in his past & as a result is reclusive, & a bit grumpy.

Georgie is an In your face, say what's on your mind kind of girl. She's generally a positive person who's happy. She sees a kindness & vulnerability in this excruciatingly beautiful man, & she wants to get to know him better. She's persistent & stubborn and eventually breaks through his tough shell.

They begin spending some time together along with some other friends Georgie's made. Soon Luca is opening up more to Georgie & eventually their attraction ignites & they agree to a no strings fling. Real feelings begin to develop. Luca wasn't prepared for the whirlwind that is Georgie. This beautiful, vibrant woman makes him feel so much, & it scares him to death. Georgie is loving being with Luca & suddenly wants more. She's fallen in love & wants it all. Can Luca open up & be with Georgie for real?

-He was the most interesting man I'd ever come across.

-I'd never gone this mental over a man before.

-It was hard to take him in all at once- he was too beautiful, inside and out.

-He had a heart of gold, a gentle soul, and I knew that once he loved, he loved forever.

I really enjoyed this book about two lonely people who find love. I was so happy to get Georgie's story. I adored her free spirit in Freddie's book & wanted to get her HEA. I LOVED Luca so much! He's such a beautiful, swoony, delicious Italian man! This was my favorite book I've read by R.S. GREY! Just fantastic! Couldn't put it down!

 photo 3AC441A1-0971-4A1D-B14D-FBD0C876C285_zpskmu4pxno.jpg

-There was no better feeling than being wrapped in his arms.

-I'd completely lost myself in him. I no longer wanted a simple kind of love. I'd settle for nothing short of crazy in love.

-Loving Georgie took courage I hadn't known I still had.

-She was bold and beautiful, adventurous and so full of life, she made everyone around her feel it as well.

Fun, sexy and sweet. A delightful and heartfelt story about loss, hope and love that lived up to its title showing me a Place in the Sun by giving me the warm and fuzzies.
“To have her love and attention was like standing beneath the scorching sun on a summer day: suffocating and sustaining all at one.”

Georgie Archibald couldn’t say no to her mother’s relentless attempts at marrying her off. So instead of doing so she decides to leave London with a long list of requisites to a random destination in her own search for a husband. When she arrives at Vernazza, Italy what she finds is a grouchy, closed off loner so gorgeous it’s almost painful to look at him. Can she coax him out of his shell and find herself in the process?
"He’d like to have a good laugh… Oh! Most importantly, he'd be open and ready for love-without a ton of baggage-"
Massimo tossed his napkin on the table and leaned back. "That rules out Luca."

After losing the love of his life Gianluca couldn’t fathom ever being happy again much less fall in love. But when the firecracker from London comes barreling into his life full of energy, disregarding his high walls, cantankerous attitude and with ideas of remodeling his family’s dilapidated bed and breakfast it’s impossible for him not to fall into her vortex. But can he let go of the past before she gives up on him?

R.S. Grey’s books are irresistible. Her characters are magnetic, her stories have as much emotional depth as they do comedy, the dialogue is witty and the attraction is delicious. A Place in the Sun’s execution is brilliant and the delivery lovely. R.S. Grey made me fall in love with Vernazza, its inhabitants and surroundings as much as I fell for the infectious Georgie and the very appealing Luca and their story so full of humor, romance, warmth and sexiness.

I loved Georgie! I met her as Freddie Archibald’s little sister in The Summer Games: Settling the Score and liked her instantly there but in her own book she made me want to jump in and be one of her friends. Just like Gianluca I found myself smiling and laughing with her. Her persistent optimism was contagious, although Luce found it exhausting at first. I loved how she broke through his sorrowful barriers with it.
“When she smiled, the world smiled with her, and more than once, I found myself wishing I was the man she deserved to be with, the one she had come to Italy to find.”

As much as Gianluca tries to keep the vivacious Gorgie away because he’s still mourning the loss of his beloved wife, Gorgie just won’t give up on him and as they spend time renovating his grandmother’s B&B they slowly start building a friendship, and what had originally been had originally started as a barely tolerant co-existence gently turns in to a beautiful love and deliciously sexy attraction that outcasts all sadness aside.
“This is quite a dress,” He said, hauling me up against the wall and pushing his body flush against mine. “Shame I’ll have to ruin it later.”

I always look forward to reading Rachel’s books where the writing always feels fresh, I know I’ll laugh and smile and highlight something witty, sweet or romantic in every other page.

A Place in the Sun is a standalone contemporary romance by R.S. Grey. It’s a beautiful story with witty, tender and sexy must read for rom-com lovers. Told from both points of view. With a happy ending

- The hero is caught up in his dead ex for a long while in the book. He thinks no one can replace her. Then, to make the readers believe in his love for the heroine, the writer makes him to find faults in his dead wife, while falling for the heroine. That's not cool at all!

By the way, he is pining for his dead wife for like 80% of the book. The last 20% wouldn't be good enough for me to believe in his love for the heroine, anyways.

- The heroine seems to have serious self-esteem issues. She tries to be content with however much he gives her.

- There is unplanned pregnancy at the early stage of their relationship when they are barely starting something. When will writers give up using this tasteless, stupid and cliché plot twist? Why make it look like they choose to be together for the sake of the baby??? That is always an awful plot twist in a romance book.

I ADORE this author and i'm almost always reading her books as soon as it releases. I LOVE her writing and LOVE her characters even more. Her heroines are the kinds i admire; funny, full of life and super endearing. Perfectly describes Georgie Archibald. We first meet her in Settling the Score; she's Freddie's younger sister and had an amazing relationship with Andie. I wished for a book then and almost screamed when i found out this one was about her!

Georgie makes a spur of the moment decision to escape her mother and her horrendous set ups. She lands in Vernazza, Italy with romantic, fairytale-ish aspirations to be swept off her feet by a hot, handsome Italian. Instead, she meets Gianluca; a serious, broody, monosyllable Italian stud. Completely opposite of her, but the heart wants what it wants. Trying to break through him and his heartbreaking past, they start an easy friendship all while hiding deeper emotions. Now, i am not much for spoilers but this book is SUPER predictable. Having said that, i believe the author has done it in such a sweet, endearing way. I loved the friendship Georgie forms and i MUST commend the author for her vivid, striking details of the small town. I felt like i was on this journey along with Georgie, revelling and savouring every small part of Vernazza. Gianluca's past is also something some readers completely avoid, so i recommend checking other reviews before indulging in this book.

Although predictable with almost no drama, this book still had so much sugar-coated sweetness and heart. A definite 2016 must read :)

“Georgie, have you gone insane?”
I smiled. “No, brother. All is well.”
“Then why on Earth are you in Italy?”
“To find love, of course.”

It doesn’t happen to me often, but once in a while, a story touches me in such an unexpected way that I have to make a conscious effort to stop myself from going back to it and re-reading it again and again. From the moment I finished this book, all I wanted to do was go back to the very first page and read it in its entirety once more. There was simply not a single aspect of this story that I did not love, these characters and their story capturing my heart over and over again, and making me only greedier for more. R.S. Grey is a master at crafting tales that speak to the heart, but with this story, she sang to mine, making it an absolute joy to read.

26-year old Georgie's had it with her mom always trying to set her up with horrible guys!
That's how she finds herself in Italy now for a little holiday - and yes, to maybe find a guy on her own! (PS - you might have already read the book about Georgie's brother - book 1 in the Summer Games series! Settling the Score )

Georgie's staying in this lovely little coastal town called Vernazza.

description

And the first guy she meets - or rather, the guy who carried her inside after she fainted - is the most beautiful guy she's ever seen.

description

But of course he's not a man of many words, and whenever she sees him in town, he only grunts at her. ☺

And of course he has some terrible baggage and is not yet ready for a new love.

But Georgie is not giving up. She's staying. She found friends in this town and is happily spending her days playing tourist in the area.... and she might even have an idea for a work-project that might include grumpy Gianluca...

And Gianluca?
He can't live like a hermit for the rest of his life?!
His cousin is trying his best to get him to start dating again, but Luca is just not ready...
or is he? Because this pretty english girl is on his mind a lot these days....

WHAT WiLL HAPPEN TO GEORGIE & LUCA????
WiLL THERE BE A HAPPY END???
READ IT TO FIND OUT ☺

description

SUCH AN ADORABLE STORY!

I just loved it.

It was cute and funny and sunny and ugh, just beautiful!
You laugh out loud, but you also cry a little with Luca.
This was the perfect romance set in a perfect location!

You just have to keep reading to find out if and when Luca finally gives up the fight and falls for Georgie. It's just too adorable to watch them!

description

Lots of hilarious and adorable and sexy and moving moments!
I absolutely enjoyed those reading hours with Georgie & Luca!!!

A PLACE IN THE SUN was such an adorable and funny & moving lovestory! Beautiful location with beautiful characters! Run to your nearest amazon to find out if Georgie will be Luca's second chance at a Happily Ever After!

If I had to name some things I didn't like...Hm... the cover. It's really beautiful, but the girl, the way she looks at the camera like a conniving porn star.... That's not really Georgie. It makes the book appear a bit cheap in my opinion.
And the whole sexy comedy part of the book. The sexy times and the comedy times do happen, but they could've happened a bit more for me. It takes them forever to get together and while in the beginning I laughed out loud a lot, it got less and less towards the end.
Also, the story, title and location reminded me A LOT of the Karina Halle book RACING THE SUN!!!
BUT ... I still loved the story a LOT!!!!

What an easy and light read, located in one of my favorite countries - Italy.
And not only that, it's - Cinque Terre.
And it's about getting an old and neglected bed and breakfast back in business.
And it has a hot and broody Italian guy as the main character.
It pretty much sounds like the most perfect Italian vacation EVER. And it's true. Drinking wine, eating fantastic Italian cuisine. Laughing, hanging out with Italian friends on the beach, at a bar, going hiking, cooking together. That's how I imagine it must be living in Italia.

Bravissimo!!!!!

3.5 "second chance at love" stars

In a category of contemporary romance, this was a second chance romance, a predictable romance, a tadbit sappy and sweet but I guess if I look at the category I am willing to accept that as a part of a "romantic" setting.

and now you're probably wondering why am i "beating around the bush" with this?

It's because i just have nothing to say to make it less of a romance, less of a second chance romance, less than a predictable romantic endavour than a nicely wrapped up story of a young woman in search of love, that "escapes" the dulling surroundings of her hometown of London and she lets herself experience the freedom of finding out "love" and "life" on her own, in a colorful and vivacious little place in Italy.

And there she finds more than she wanted but if wasn't as easy as that - the man she wanted/loved had a "shadow" of his passed love looming over him and he wasn't ready to let go, to move on...

and yet...the timing would happen to be right, the pacing would happen to be right, all the segments in the great master plan of the romantic happening would be right...and their "love" would be right.
I've never intended to fall in love again. I never imagined I'd have a reason to move on, and when you came along, I wasn't prepared. I didn't know how to handle you. You were...a lot to take in at once. I tried to keep my wall up, but you blew right past it.

and they lived happily ever after.

in Italy.

4 “You’re my northern wind, my tramontana” stars.

“…why on Earth are you in Italy” “To find love, of course.”

And to fall in love she did…

R.S. Grey brings her signature combination of sweet, funny and sexy, adding a touch of magic and allowing us to live vicariously through Georgie as she falls in love in Vernazza. A charming romance that will leave you wanting to pack your bags and book a flight to Vernazza, Italy.

Tired of her mother controlling her love life, Georgie Archibald decides It was time for a change, so she packs her bags leaving all behind and going after what she really wants. LOVE, that gut-clenching, swoony kind od romance you only find in books, that’s what she is looking for.

And that’s how she ended in Vernazza, Italy with her heart on a platter ready to fall in love.

Vivacious, Beautiful & Brave. Those are the words I would use to describe Georgie Archibald. Not to fall in love with her was impossible. She’s so full of life that she makes you feel it as well. I applaud her courage to leave it all behind and follow her heart. Sometimes a girl just want to get away from the pressure of getting married, to break the chains and find her own path.

“He was romantic looking, the sort of man who breathes passion into life without even trying.”

When Georgie first arrives to Vernazza, she finds herself feeling a little dizzy. This is when Gianluca comes into her life as a kind of knight in shining armor and helps her with the remnants of her motion sickness. With just one look at him, Georgie finds herself hold hostage by him. He feels like a new day, a new beginning. But sometimes even the brightest new day can get a little darker.

Still mourning the loss of his wife, Gianluca is not up for any kind of relationship. So keep Georgie at arm’s length, even if he finds her attractive, is the right thing to do. The last thing he wants is to break her heart.

I do love Luca. Just like Georgie I got myself trapped in his web but that didn't stop me to want to cut off his dick at some point. I get that he was still lost in the past but there was one moment in particular when I wanted to sacrifice him to the god of assholes because really, you never tell that kind of stuff to a girl you may or may not love….like ever. Apart from that, I love him! LOL.

“…our minds were slaves to caution, but our bodies were free.”

Gianluca’s emotional baggage didn't stop Georgie to go after him. No matter how many times he pushed her away, she always came back for more!

Their journey from friendship to love was everything and a little bit more. The author let you experience how these two come to care for each other. The deeper Georgie falls, the more concerned you will become for her.

Will Gianluca break her heart?

Will she be able to pull him out of his past?

A Place In The Sun is not just another hot sexy love story, it’s also about second chances, about coming to terms with loss and finding the strength to move on and face the future.

Thank you, R.S. Grey for another lovely reading :)

I loved this book! A Place in the Sun was such an entertaining novel and I'm so glad I finally decided to read another one of R.S. Grey's books. I loved the characters and the chemistry between the main characters Georgie and Gianluca was amazing. The only aspect of the book I didn't like was that the author decided to use on of my all-time least favourite tropes. However, it happened at the very end of the novel and was a lot more subtle than in most other books I've read which is why I decided not to deduct any stars for that. A Place in the Sun was amazing and it deserves five out of five stars!
