This was the best of the books I've read so far. Set in Riddle's third year at Hogwarts, we have a bunch of well-established characters of whom he gradually takes charge due to his own intellect and ability to get things done.
Hagrid actually makes an appearance and it's rather cute to see him in action as a student. The friendship between the muggle-born Jana and the future Dark Lord Tom grows deeper and deeper. Jana shows she has feelings for Tom, but Tom is depicted as being unaware of understanding it, but he still values her presence in his life. Jana throws a bombshell about her life that has even Tom astonished.
Marca, another close friend of Tom, also has a secret, but this one is something that Tom is very concerned about. Ultimately, he decides to let her be and makes use of her secret much in the same way as Voldemort would be expected to do. Whoever knows what is going to happen to Marca and Jana in the coming books, but I am hoping for the best!
The centre of action in this book is a feud between the Slytherins and the Hufflepuffs - yes, the Hufflepuffs. They start it too, but the Slytherins, under the leadership of Riddle, end it. It is here that we see Tom's ability to actually organise campaigns to and carry them out without any margin of error. He begins to demand complete obedience from his 'friends' during these campaigns. I begin to actually see the origins of the Dark Lord developing, in contrast to the first book when Tom's cruelty was random and the second book, when nothing much happened.
This is the 3º book in Tom Riddle's Schooldays series and i have to say that i'm loving these books so far. I always want to know more about the past of voldemort and also about the marauders (i wish that Rowling would write something about it) but since she doesn't i guess that David Styles is a pretty good alternative.
i know that this one is just a fanfic but it's so much like going back to Hogwarts, the story is well written and it has references to the harry potter books and it makes us feel like it is part of the original series.
In this one, i was so please to see Hagrid.... it breaks my heart when his father dies.... poor thing! We are also presented to moaning myrtle (in the ravenclaw table, when Tom goes to the Christmas dinner there). I was socked with both Marca and Jana this book.... what a secret to keep..... And also i start to see more of voldemort in Tom in this one....
the only thing that makes me sad is that i have only one books left to read.... please David can you keep writing the entire 7 books???
