Passion of Sleepy Hollow

Braeden Van Brunt unwillingly takes the job of the headless horseman in the mysterious town of Sleepy Hollow. Braeden with his face hidden figures it will only be one night and with no place to stay begs Katrina “Kat” Van Tassel to stay in her hotel. Katrina relents to help Braeden out especially when he reveals himself. Kat can’t help but notice that Braeden looks surprisingly like her past betrothed, Brom. As Kat gets to know Braeden and falls for him there is one big secret of Sleepy Hollow that she must disclose soon. Braeden knows there is something not quite right about Sleepy Hollow but can’t figure out why the town disappears and he can’t find out anything about Kat. As Braeden gets closer to finding out the truth of Sleepy Hollow it puts the entire town in danger and the affection he is developing for Kat could end up hurting them both.
What an amazingly fantastic take on the Legend of Sleepy Hollow! The story immerses you in it and doesn’t let up until the very end! The engaging tale moves wonderfully along pulling you into the suspense and mystique of this little town. Sleepy Hollow seems like a magical scary place but somewhere great to visit. Even the side characters are just delightful! Yes, there are lots of hot steamy sex scenes but it doesn’t slow the story down either. Braeden the strong level-headed handsome hero is just a great hero to fall for and a great book boyfriend. Katrina the pretty elusive hotel owner heroine might be from a different era manages to be quite modern and easily relatable. Another little gem from Ellora’s Cave of delights. I was pretty much already sold on the concept, as I loved the original ‘Legend of Sleepy Hollow’ when I was a little girl and had kind of felt betrayed by the recent TV series of the same name (good looking guy, disjointed and crappy plot!) So it was lovely to read something that lived up to the romantic notions I associate with this legend.
Kat felt very true to the original, and I was overjoyed with this. It’s pretty obvious that there was some research put into the story that went beyond watching the Johnny Depp movie, although any excuse to see a good looking guy in a frock coat! It would have been far too easy to simply create a new Kat, and in doing so would have lost much of its appeal.
From a writer’s perspective, the whole concept of ghosts out of time and a relationship that can break a curse is lovely and really does justify the saucy scenes. I can’t say this enough that a real story has to be behind an erotic romance – it’s really what separates lovely books, such as this one, from Playboy reader letters!
The front cover is pretty and has a six pack attention grabber, however I’d have really liked to have seen more of a period dress on there, after all it’s an intricate part of the story and, I don’t know about you, but I find it sexier for a man to be sporting a strategically opened flowing white shirt and an old fashioned hat than to be completely naked.
Overall I’d give The Passion of Sleepy Hollow 4 out 5 stars – If only Lexi had written the TV series!

Ok, pay attention. Braeden Van Brunt is from newtime which is like now. He is so ripped that women throw themselves at him constantly. It is such a problem that for the most part he doesn't leave his apartment unless he absolutely has to. When his beloved brother has a heart attack he faces one of those moments and agrees to play the part of the headless horseman in Sleepy Hollow. Trying to find a room for that night, he runs into innkeeper Katrina Van Tassel. He is mesmerized because she doesn't profess her undying love and desire to have his babies in the first 30 seconds of their meeting. What he doesn't know is that Katrina is in shock because he looks just like the love of her life who disappeared four years ago. Oh, and she and the village of Sleepy Hollow are in oldtime. The two only come together once a year in newtime and every weekend in oldtime. Still with me? It's ok. There's lots of sex to read about until it sinks in.
This is the second Lexi Post book I've read as a judge. What I like about her books is that she takes a well known legend (she has multiple degrees in multiple areas) and poses different scenarios from what we are used to reading. Lots of little mysteries, intrigue, jealousy and perhaps a touch of witchcraft make it an entertaining read.

Passion of Sleepy Hollow is a quirky twist on the original tale. I never really liked Brom or Ichabod the original story. Katrina's character in this story for me flushed out the personality of the Sleepy Hollow. Still, don't like Ichabod Crane and that's all I will say..... Again the story is an interesting twist of not only Sleepy Hollow but for me a mashup of SH and Brigadoon. Which is one of my favorite musicals.

If you love the classics, with a little heat, read this book. Lexi had a brilliant idea and turned it into a unique take on an old story. The unexpected characters are enjoyable and the plot is so interesting.

Good story. A bit confusing with the time swaps at first but I love time travel ideas and this was a fun take on an old story. Definitely worth the read.

I enjoyed some aspect of the book. It's a cute story, a lot of frustrating moments but I made it to the end. The characters are likable.

Miss Post has done an amazing job of writing an old classic tale into something new exciting and romantic as she transports us back in time where we learn all is not as it seems. I am constantly amazed at how the author manages to pull me in so quickly to her books she makes me always want to live in her worlds and or be a character.
Braeden Van Brunt is somewhat of a recluse when he gets asked by his brother to stand in and be the Headless Horseman…until he meets Katrina Van Tassel, The owner of the Sleepy Hollow Inn, who lures him in right from the front desk and into the bedroom.... her bedroom just to sleep in that is. When Braeden finds out that Kat and the whole village of Sleepy Hollow are cursed... they exist only in the present day for one weekend of the year, he soon realises the sacrifice he will have to make if he wants to keep his woman.
Katrina Van Tassel has been living between slivers of time. She had always thought that she was through with grieving for her betrothed’s death, but her dreams come to life when his near mirror-image arrives in her Inn requesting a room. She cannot help but be drawn to Braeden, she is taken to greater heights of passion and intimacy more than she ever imagined, but she still isn't sure if her heart and soul can be with him or with her past love.
Knowing that he has a fight on his hands to not only conquer both time and the very ghosts for him to keep the one and only woman that he has ever loved beyond anything, Braeden just has to put the past to rest so they can all have the happily ever after that they deserve.
This book is so magical it not only combines the past and the future but has elements of an amazing legend. I am in utter awe of Miss Post she is such an amazing writer finding the words to describe how much I love her is so hard but yet so easy.
My most favourite part of the book has to be how Braeden discovers everything is not as it seems and that he has to fight for Kat not just for her love but ghosts and curses as well...... he sure does fight a good fight.

I've always loved the story of sleepy hollow, so the telling of it in this book could've gone either way for me, either it was going to stay true to the story or go so far off the mark I would hate it !
What this author has done is keep the legend of Sleepy Hollow but focusing on the residents of the village to create a romantic love story that combines new time (present day) with old time.
Stuck in a timewarp, sleepy Hollow is only visible in newtime one weekend a year, Halloween, when The newtime descendant of the headless horseman rides through the village for their annual fair.
Braeden Van Brunt is that descendant and when he meets Katrina Van Tassel The independent and feisty owner of the Sleepy Hollow inn, something is set in motion that could either destroy the village or save it !
Braeden and Kat's sizzling passion is enough to leave scorch marks, I've never wanted to be a fictional character so much in my life as I want to be Katrina Van Tassel *blushes*

What if the Headless Horseman was real, and all the people in Sleepy Hollow returned one weekend a year? Braeden is a descendant of one of the residents of Sleepy Hollow. Every year a member of his family has played the Headless Horseman in the 1790's based fair. But what Braeden does not know is that the people and the village are only in his time that one weekend. When Braeden has an affair with the lovely innkeeper, he is determined to unravel the mystery of her disappearance. He has to wait an entire year to learn anything, but when he does return to Sleepy Hollow he and Katrina go on a wild ride filled with mystery, mysticism, jealousy, betrayal, and a quick burning passion that slowly builds into something more. The characters in the book were wonderful, very real, not just fantasy heroes. Braeden is a big, strong man, but he also has a lot of insecurities. Katrina is a strong willed woman, with enough heart and soul to hold them together. And I love the secret relationship, and wannabe relationships, going on in the background. This was a fun read.

One of the best homages a writer can give to a classic or well loved story is when they truly make it their own. To pull it out of the world it once lived in and recreate it as something that makes you see it in an entirely new light. Lexi Post doesn't only give you a new taste of Sleepy Hollow and it's legend with this novel she pretty much remaps your taste buds! This is an effing amazekittens read!

Another Stupendous Book From Lexi Post!
Holy Crap on a Cracker! I LOVED< LOVED< LOVED this book! Lexi Post has out done herself again! Her writing skills show her to be a story telling genius! I was trying so hard to find something about this story to pick apart...And I was stumped. I read it 3 times just to find the one thing wrong.And there isn't anything wrong. It is extremely well written, by a woman with a flare for the dark intrigue and incredibly hot sex scenes! The overlap of the past and present was superb! And her characters stay true all the way through the book. Her world she has created from and old classic is brilliant! I want to see more books like this from her. I give this a 5 star rating but if I could go higher I would! A must have book for everyone into paranormal, dark intrigue, secrets, and hot lusty sex! This author now tops my favorites list!

A great take on a classic tale of the Headless Horseman.
Braeden Van Brunt had the job of playing the Headless Horseman for a reenactment in a historical village. Strange things happen here and once he leaves, the villages appears to have vanished.
Katrina the Inn keeper is a woman he cannot stop thinking about. Some time later when it's time to play his role again the village reappears and time seems to have stood still...or rather back in the 1700s.
He and Kat must defeat the curse, a ghost and superstitious villagers in order to bring the village of Sleepy Hollow into the future.
The story was fun, adventurous and there was plenty of steam between the main characters. The villagers were interesting...love them or hate them.
A great paranormal tale and well worth the read.
Braeden Van Brunt had the job of playing the Headless Horseman for a reenactment in a historical village. Strange things happen here and once he leaves, the villages appears to have vanished.
Katrina the Inn keeper is a woman he cannot stop thinking about. Some time later when it's time to play his role again the village reappears and time seems to have stood still...or rather back in the 1700s.
He and Kat must defeat the curse, a ghost and superstitious villagers in order to bring the village of Sleepy Hollow into the future.
The story was fun, adventurous and there was plenty of steam between the main characters. The villagers were interesting...love them or hate them.
A great paranormal tale and well worth the read.

Stuck in between time, Kat has lived many years but truly aged slowly. The love of her life left her at the altar, and she held onto his memory. Into her life comes Braeden and turns everything upside down. Their attraction is instant but does she love him or her lost love he resembles? It takes separation, letting go of the past, ending a curse to allow these two to be happy. Kat is a strong woman willing to do what is necessary. Braeden is a strong man who knows how to be gentle with the right woman. Their love truly crosses time and held me enthralled. I loved this story full of love, danger, ghosts, curses and highly recommend it.

I'd never read any of Ms. Post's writing, but this story had just the right mixture of modern day mystery with magic and sexy in the blurb. I picked it up the day it came out and read it slowly, savoring every little bit of tale in it. Do you love the legend of the Headless Horseman? This has a very cool and exciting modern spin on it and I loved that both the heroine and the hero had growing and learning to do. Kat is stuck in the past, literally and emotionally, while Braeden is stuck in the present, with his mind in the past. Neither of them is looking for love, but both want a connection and a way out of their restrictive worlds. Too bad there are folks who'd really like to keep them apart...especially those who engineered the curse of Sleepy Hollow. Great tale and fun read.

As if the Legend of Sleepy Hollow (set in the 1790’s), with a headless horseman and a school master’s disappearance isn’t eerie enough, Ms. Lexi Post puts a very unique spin on this classic to create a brilliant storyline. Yeah, steamy sex scenes, time warps, ghosts, and superstitions are woven together to create the storyline that keeps you wanting more. Did I mention steamy, page curling sex? The characters are perfectly matched and the dynamics between them is off the charts. It was a little longer read but I knocked it out in a couple of evenings. Love it! Awesome read! I highly recommend it.

I struggled with the beginning of this story, and in all honesty if I wasn't reading to review I probably would have given up, which would have been a shame.
Once I got over the authors like for using unusual similes (which tended to throw me out not endear me) I found myself immersed in the plot. Drawn into this unusual world, and how the 'old world' and 'new worl' came to co-exist!
The sexy time was 'interesting' because of the time era's.
All in all a jolly good bit of escapism!
