CAUTION: Don't burn your fingers turning the pages of this action-packed volume!
From elemental wizardry gone wickedly wrong to devilish deeds and futures up in flames, these twenty one stories set the pages ablaze exploring the myriad ways of getting singed, fried and outright incinerated. Read stories by established, award-winning authors, as well as newly ignited lights in the creative universe.
Flames, acid, radiation, steam, broken hearts and broken deals...
A very well rounded anthology with a diverse and compelling group of twenty-one stories based on the theme ‘Burnt’ with great contributions from established authors (see ‘Biding Time’ by Robert J. Sawyer) and first time print publishees (loved ‘The Night of the Fire’ by Colin Maheu) alike. Well paced and compiled so that anyone, from sci-fi and fantasy buffs to mystery and romance lovers, will enjoy. Careful not to burn yourself reading this scorching anthology where anything can happen from acid burns to global destruction! Loved it!
This is a great anthology, featuring 21 short stories from Canadian writers at various stages in their careers. You've got a handful of first-time authors here, quite a few established names, all the way up to Hugo, Nebula, and Aurora Award winners. There's also a wide range of genres represented... sci-fi, fantasy, horror, steampunk, and a few stories that defy categorization. This is the second Enigma Front anthology from Analemma Books, and a more than worthy successor to the first volume. The stories by R Overwater, Erin Sneath, Jayne Barnard, Brent Nichols, and first-timer Colin Maheu were just some of the standouts here.
(Full disclosure: I may be a bit biased, as one of my stories appears in this book. That said, I would've bought this one anyway.)
