After leaving Earth on what she thought would be an adventure, Caria Montgomery quickly ends up in way over her head. Captured by hostile aliens, she faces the prospect of perishing on an isolated planet until she is rescued by Commander Phahlen Verdar and his crew. Phahlen is delighted to have a human female aboard his ship. In the years since the women of his own world were nearly wiped out by a terrible plague, taking a mate has become all but impossible for most males of his species, and he doesn’t plan to let this opportunity pass him by. His plan to claim Caria is aided by the fact that, due to the unsavoury nature of the crew of the ship on which she was travelling, she is now a wanted fugitive back on Earth. Though Caria is initially defiant, a sound spanking on her bare bottom demonstrates her admittedly handsome future mate’s resolve. His bold dominance awakens an intense need within her, and before long she finds herself yearning for the pleasure of his masterful lovemaking. But is she truly prepared to surrender herself fully to her alien commander, or will she seek to return to Earth and clear her name as soon as possible? Publisher’s Her Alien Commander includes spankings and sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.
Until 2010, Ashe was a director of a regeneration company before deciding there had to be more to life and leaving to pursue a lifetime goal of self-employment.
Ashe has been an avid reader of erotic romance for many years—historical, contemporary, fantasy—you name it. Now, at last in control of her own time and working from her home in rural West Yorkshire, she has been able to realise her dream of writing sexy and compelling stories herself.
She draws on settings and anecdotes from her previous and current experience to lend colour, detail and realism to her plots and characters, but her stories of love, challenge, resilience and compassion are the conjurings of her own imagination. She loves to craft strong, enigmatic men and bright, sassy women to give them a hard time—in every sense of the word.
When she’s not writing, Ashe’s time is monopolised by her role as grandma to a lively toddler. She shares her writing space with a tortoise called Teefer.
This novel negotiates a thin line between consensual BDSM and something much darker. It implies that Caria is not given a choice about her sexual submission (at least in the beginning) - that she is a prisoner and is therefore not deserving of her right to choose who she has sex with. I will clarify here that nowhere in this novel is Caria raped or forced to have sex without first vocalising her consent. What I will say is that her consent is sometimes...seduced from her. The author attempts to balance this relationship with the knowledge that Phahlen's race have suffered a decimation of their females and are desperate to preserve their species, and that males of his species are predisposed to dominance and cannot imagine behaving any other way when confronting with a disobedient (although an unwillingness to cower in the corner or to take injustice silently is hardly disobedience!) female. I didn't have to stop at any point while reading this book, too disgusted to carry on, but there were moments where I was left frowning at the page, a tad upset by how close the author came to unacceptable content. The epilogue, where Phahlen proposes to Caria after her incarceration has ended, really put the whole story into perspective for me. It is revealed that they have been together five years, the prisoner-warden dynamic active between them during the entirety of that time, and have had two daughters together. Despite what has supposedly evolved into a loving relationship on Phahlen's side, Caria is unaware of his 'love' for her and is flabbergasted when he confesses his undying devotion to her and their family and demonstrates a willingness to uproot his entire life (what a hero!) to accommodate her. In conclusion, I can't quite pinpoint what bothered me about this book. Maybe I can't get over the mentality that a prisoner is at the mercy of their warden, and so the two will never be equals unless the situation is equalised. Maybe I can't get over how their 'relationship' began. Or maybe, while the sex scenes were well-written and imaginative, they were offset by almost cruel dictatorship and imprisonment.

Great erotic sci-fi romance with kink! This is a really delicious read, a page turner. The story is unique and clever in setting up the situation for strong BDSM themes. The main characters are both very charismatic, courageous and somewhat atypical as is usually seen in a D/s couple. The heroine retains her true self although she comes to accept and subsequently desire submission within the relationship. The hero is all alpha male dominate in the truest sense not only within their pairing but in all aspects of his life and at all times with very little room for variance. Normally, I do not enjoy this degree of BD, but this book is so well written and is so unusual that I was totally drawn into it. The sex scenes are hot, hot and hotter. There is plenty of spanking and punishment. The ending is absolutely one of the most satisfying that I can remember reading, particularly within the sci-fi romance and/or BDSM genres.
The story was okay, I don't sense LOVE between h and h. Lust we see, but the characters don't even seem to like each other, let alone love. Spoiler: The last scene in the book is FIVE years later they finally say I love you to each other, and guess what?? It's a surprise to the characters! They didn't even know. My biggest problem with this book is that AFTER Phahlen finds out that Caria is pregnant with his daughter he starts to call her his human slut. Really? Never before is he derogatory in his language like this, so after he finds out she's pregnant it feels wrong.
Beautifully written Sci-Fi adventure romance. I'm getting more and more into science fiction and this was was fabulous. I started this book last night and finished at 3am. It was a fast paced page turner that wrung out many emotions, laughing, crying, anger, frustration. Keep tissues handy as this is a tear jerker. I loved the new worlds and it was so believable I could see it, the dialogue was witty, the science described was also believable and so I highly recommend this book. I was given this book by the publisher for an honest review and the thoughts and opinions are mine.
A hot sci-fi story. In spite of Caria's overwhelming sexual response to Phahlen she continues to fight for her freedom. I really liked the strength of the heroine. The struggle between them really heats up the kindle. This is a page turner that kept me up late to finish it.
I enjoyed the heat between these two characters. He was an escaped convict and she was the woman in charge of putting him back in prison. Unfortunately things go wrong and shen ends up being his prisoner subjected to his punishments. Of course spanking is involved. She is quick to temper and jealous. She got herself into her present situation because she made bad decisions. Now it seems she was to pop out little alien girl babies, as part of her captivity. Lord knows he's at her enough, she should get pregnant. But escape is always at the back of her mind and her continued bad decisions just keep getting her in trouble. I'll read this again.
An interesting read, but this is definitely not an alien romance
This was an interesting read. It is mostly a story about a dominant alien male who doesn’t give Caria any option but to submit to his demands. He uses his position of authority and her association with a crew of space pirates to coerce her compliance.
The story had steamy elements but lacked any real romantic elements. Caria physically responds to his knowledge and ability to make her orgasm and she ends up desiring his physical attention, but she knows she is his prisoner and longs for her freedom.
The story itself is good and easy to follow. But needs a little more to it. The main male character is quite frankly a dick the whole way through, and only decide he loves her in the epilogue which is 5 years in the future, could have done with a bit more romance/feelings from him not just seeing her as a breading machine. The ending/epilogue seemed a little rushed and can only just about be classed as a HEA.
I wasn't really sure how to take this book with the prisoner aspect, but found I did enjoy the road to the HEA. Really hot scenes, but 30 orgasims are insane. 😉
First of all, this story is dark erotica on the light side, so light I waffled about labeling it "dark". Second, this is the kind of book that makes me love erotic sci/fi capture fantasy, and I really hope this author writes more books set in the same world. I find I enjoy books best when the male and female protagonists learn and develop into better more complete people through their interaction. All too often alpha males are cardboard cutouts without much personality beyond chest thumping demands that the female submit, and submit now! Also, all too often the female protagonist starts strong and defiant then turns into a TSTL idiot (well, it could be argued that the scene involving a life pod was a pretty TSTL move on her part), or a doormat, or, even worse, both. None of that happens in this story and I'm very grateful.
I enjoyed the set up for Caria becoming a captive of Phahlen (not all that impressed with his name though...), it gave just enough justification for her situation that I could set aside my normal outrage and just enjoy the show.... mostly. There's no doubt Phahlen starts out in full alpha male a$$hat glory by taking advantage of Caria's situation and never looking into her past - at least not until guilted into it. I also appreciated Caria's refusal to accept the situation without trying to clear her name.
I do have a few quibbles, one of which has become a real pet peeve of mine. Caria's first punishment was because she withheld a piece of information from Phahlen. I won't argue that it was an important bit of information for him, but only an idiot would have come clean so early in the relationship given the possible dire consequences. Personally, I wish Phahlen had accepted that Caria was acting out of self preservation and not acted as if it was a personal affront. It is ridiculous to expect trust so early in a relationship, particularly when there is absolutely no basis for that trust. It wasn't quite as bad as the situation in Shared by the Highlanders written by the same author. The reason for that first punishment drove me batty!
I received this book from Stormy Night Publications in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I really like this author and this book is very good. Caria and Phahlen's story is well written and intriguing. Caria's in absentia conviction and sentencing leaves her in the control of Phahlen but as she doesn't understand how she could be convicted when she wasn't guilty, she fights for her freedom even though it leads to her punishment. I like that the story shows Caria's intelligence. The sci-fi aspects are good and well thought out. I just wish the story had received a proper ending and not just an epilogue from 5 years in the future as there were so many little dangling threads that deserved a wrap up). Other than my dissatisfaction with the ending, it is a good story and I would read it again.
I really liked this book! I got hooked early on in the story and just had to keep reading! Caria made me laugh, stubborn to a fault with a funny quirky personality. Phahlen was more than up to the challenge she presented. Their chemistry together was smoking hot. I absolutely adored the ending!! I received this from Stormy Night Publications as an Advanced Reader Copy.
