Maria Moore knows her life doesn’t make sense to a lot of people but, at forty-three, she’s old enough not to care what most people think anyway. She loves her tiny apartment in the Lower East Side, being an (almost) successful writer, shopping for clothes at thrift stores, and eating suspiciously-named meals from food trucks. She even loves it that she and her rocker girlfriend Lolita—of Lolita and the Bang Bang Girls—have finally broken up for good.
Jack Evers is a fierce trial lawyer, ambitious and driven. She works hard, plays harder, and reaps the rewards in the form of adoring one-night stands, bespoke suits, and a luxury apartment in SoHo.
The only things that Maria and Jack have in common is that they both hail from Evermore, Alabama; home of two feuding families, an abandoned subdivision, pot-smoking grannies, the occasional pet alligator, and a giant fake peach that bears an uncanny resemblance to a human bottom.
And once, a long time ago, they were in love and stupidly carved their names into the Evermore tree which, according to local legend, means they’re destined to be together forever.
When Maria and Jack find themselves back in Evermore the distance they managed to put between themselves in Manhattan fades and the crazy sparks fly like they always did.
But Maria and Jack are the grandchildren of the originators of that feud, and that feud has come to a new head with the advent of the sale of the abandoned subdivision where their grandfathers committed either double murder or double suicide (depending on who you ask). Can love, even one promised by a legend to last forever, stand in the face of so many obstacles?

Nice story

It's not you're normal love story. It has some interesting twists that add a lot of depth to the plot. I laughed a lot and there was a moment where it took my breath as I waited to were what would happen. I would definitely recommend.

Loved it!

This was a story with a lot of charm and humor! The background story about Sam and Renee was very poignant. The story of Marie's mother was very sad but very real. Jack and Marie's story was sad and sweet at the same time. It was a good read!

Great Story

I gave it five stars because the characters are great. This book was so much fun to read I laughed out loud and cried silent tears. Only one warning do not eat or drink while reading this book you might hurt yourself laughing so hard.
