Loving Deep by Tracey Devlyn is a 2016 Kicksass publication.

A compelling contemporary romance that gives a nod to wildlife convervation with little ‘paying it forward’ thrown in for good measure.

When Randi’s mother, Barbara, dies, she learns that Britt Steele would have first right of refusal if Randi chose to sell the land she inherited. However, Barbara did not cross all the I’s or dot all the T’s, so Randi, who desperately needs the money to keep her business afloat, can sell the land to the highest bidder, and as it so happens there are a few people very interested in acquiring this prime piece of land…. Trophy hunters.

Britt and Barbara came to their agreement to save the red wolf pack on the land, to help keep them from becoming extinct. Once Randi learns the reason why Britt wants the land, the two begin some pretty tough negotiations, which sparkles and crackles with hot, but turbulent chemistry.

I enjoyed this book for many reasons. I love the idea of preserving wildlife, and applaud anyone who dedicates their time and energy to such a worthy effort. I also abhor trophy hunting, so the bad guys in this book, helped draw attention to such a boastful waste, and paints such activity in the light in which it should be shown.

Naturally, there is some conflict between Britt and Randi. Both characters had parental issues, but Britt was more flawed, I think, and he had problems with trust, but he does grovel nicely.

Overall, I was proud of Randi for standing up for herself, for forgiving Britt, and I enjoyed watching Britt stand up and show Randi what he was made of, and seeing him finally get the chance to do something for himself now with the help of his grateful siblings and Randi. There is also a gentle message that reminds us to make time for things we want to do, need to do, or should do, because life can change on a dime. Good advice!

Overall, this is a solid contemporary romance with just the right amount of angst, and steamy romance as well as having an adventurous quality to it that was different and a nice change of pace.

Loving Deep by Tracey Devlyn was a surprise for me. The story has Devlyn’s fantastic storytelling, detailed plot, as well as interesting and endearing characters but the plot was not one I expected loving.

I admit that when I first started reading this I wasn’t sure how much I would enjoy it. I love all of Devlyn’s other stories and I trust her writing so I wanted to read Loving Deep. It’s just that the subject matter isn’t something that would typically spark my interest. However, it was the hero, Britt that made me love what he was passionate about. His quirkiness with Randi but his love for animals is so completely endearing. Randi is a good match for him in that she understood his passion and was a reasonable, independent woman who sees him for what he is, bad moods, overreactions and all.

Randi and Britt’s relationship was a rocky one, though. She was wary of getting involved with someone similar to her mom – someone who hurt her many times growing up. In a change of roles it was Britt that was the unreasonable one most of the time and Randi was level headed. Britt put his foot in his mouth often too. I wondered how Randi could stand to forgive him sometimes. It made their romance different and exciting because I never knew how a situation would play out. Britt and Randi’s story is one that will leave you with a happy and joyful heart when you finish the book.

Leave it to Devlyn to provide us with a unique suspense story. And she sure can write evil villains. At first the bad guys are shown as polished and upper class which makes you assume they are above certain things, but at the end of the book, you see their true colors. I couldn’t believe the evil that lurked under their fancy clothes and money.

There is a lot more I would love to tell you about Loving Deep, but you need to go read it for yourself. It is a wonderful story that will provide you with hours of entertainment. It brings together the Steele family for one of their biggest adventures yet. While I have read these books a bit out of order and they can be read on their own, I think the experience is best when they are read in order.

If you are looking for a romantic suspense story that combines a fresh plot, realistic romance, and a family that will support you with no questions asked, give Loving Deep a read.

Loving Deep by Tracey Devlyn is the fourth book of her Steele Ridge Series. This is my first book by the author and I read it as a stand alone, but I think reading them in order would be a good idea so that the full stories of the Steele brothers and their women. It's a solid 4.8 star book and I highly recommend reading this book.

Britt Steele is the eldest of the brothers and his biggest mission right now is to protect the Red Wolf packs and their pups. They mean that if he can keep them alive to adulthood their survival means that their species could come back from extinction. But first he has to make sure no one buys the Barbara Shepherd's land which is adjacent to his sanctuary. It will take every dollar he has and then some to protect the wolf pack and their pups. But it won't be easy and he'll have to fight men whose whole life is to be the best hunter there is and they want the Red wolves.

Miranda "Randi" Shepherd needs money to keep her business, Blues, Brews, and Books, going and if she has to sell her late mother's land to the highest bidder then that's what she'll do. But she doesn't know about the wolves and that the Carolina Club is really a group of ruthless men who hunt for sport. But first she has to find her mother's lawyer, make her payroll, and fight off her attraction to Britt Steele.

It will take the entire Steele family to take down hunters who only want a trophy, A multi billionaire game developer brother, the women who love the Steele Brother, Sheriff Maggie and a paint ball gun toting mother to save the wolves and help Britt and Randi realize that their love is worth saving. I loved the book and will try to find the other books so that I can read them.

The stories just keep getting better and better as the Steele Ridge series continues. This fourth book in the series layers upon the previous books to bring Britt's story to the forefront. Up until now, he has maintained a low profile, taking care of the family in their father's stead, but within this story his personality, drive and passion reaches out to snare you. Ms Devlyn has created a character that literally captures your heart. You feel his burning desire to protect nature from the evil that walks on two legs. You also feel his devastation when he feels helpless to do what needs to be done for that protection to be put into place, but Britt is a protector, he does what needs to be done, at all cost.

This author shows her gift for writing through the depth and dynamics of her characters...from Jonah's deep focus on his gaming technology one minute, to the hilarity of his exercising his rich snootiness to gain information the next, the humor is subtle, but laugh out loud funny at the same time. There is a deeper message layered within the story...Family. How Ms Devlyn has been able to capture the nuances of familial dynamics was truly heartwarming. As with the previous books of Grif and Reid's stories, the wry, witty banter between the siblings is flying, their deep Southern upbringing keeping the boys afraid of making their mama mad! When mama Steele welds a paint gun to teach Reid to never yell at a lady, the laughing was explosive.

Hopefully Jonah, the baby billionaire's story is up next...that book cannot come soon enough.

M/F Romance, mystery
Triggers: Hunting, murder
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

This book was somewhat hard for me. Randy is a city girl who left the country when her mother dedicated more of her life to conservation than to her family. There are unanswered questions regarding Randy's issues with her mother throughout the book.

Then you have Britt. He's kind of gruff around the edges, but he has a large heart. When he realizes that the red wolves that he has been protecting might be hunted to extinction, he will stop at almost nothing to protect them.

The tension between Britt and Randy begins when Randy's mom dies - she was supposed to will the land that the red wolves were inhabiting to Britt. Because of the financial pickle that Randy finds herself in - she starts to entertain other bids... what she realizes is that someone wants her land and will stop at almost nothing to obtain it.

The wolves are what really hold this story together, but the Steele family is also fun to watch too. They pull together and fight the good fight.

I had a difficult time with how Britt treated Randy throughout the story - I thought he was cold and callous - she seemed mostly convenient to him and not like he truly cared. Their relationship seemed very superficial - there was very little chemistry between the two, besides annoyance.

Overall, this was just an OK story. It had a lot of potential, but for me, just fell a little flat.

Britt and Randi – wow – what a story!

Britt is the oldest of the Steele brothers and has always been there for the family. He works hard as a handy-man but in so doing he has put some of his dreams on hold indefinitely. When he returns from a conference he finds out that his mentor has died, the land he thought would be his someday may not be his after all and the woman he has an interest in holds much of his future in her hands. With an endangered species at risk he feels he must find a way to get his hands on the land that Randi now owns.

Randi runs Blues, Brews and Books – a multi-purpose establishment – that has done well but may go under if a solution is not found. With her mother’s many acres of land to sell she sees a way to save what she loves. With an offer on the table for the land will she sell to a group that might or might not be on the up and up or will she wait for Britt to purchase her mother’s land.

With trouble in the wings the Steele family and their friends come together to save the day and while they do so Britt and Randi explore the potential of a future together.

This is the first book I have read by this author and it will not be my last. The story was well crafted and definitely worth the read. It makes sense without reading the other books in the series BUT the bits and pieces shared about the rest of the Steele family do make me want to read the rest of the books in this series.

Thank you to the author for the copy of this book. This is my honest review.

This book might just be my favorite from the Steele Ridge Series so far. I absolutely love the story line on this on.
Britt is on of those strong quiet types. He loves nature and spends most of his time out in the woods keeping an eye on a wolf pack that should by all rights not be around that area. He has been documenting the wolf pack with his mentor but when events take a turn for the worse, the wolf pack is threatened and Britt will not stand still for that.
Randi's mom had always spent most of her time outdoors caring for injured animals or keeping an eye on the health of local wildlife. Randi shared the same passion until she realized that her mom seemed to care more about those animals than her.
Randi was now the owner of Blues , Brews and Books and was busy most of the time, so when she finds out that her recently deceased mom has left her property Randi is shocked, and not really all that pleased. Randi had grown to hate the outdoors.
When Randi, goes for a hike to check out the property and bumps into Britt, things couldn't be more awkward, until Britt brings up her mothers will and advises her to read the details. It seems Britt thinks her mom left the land to him.
This book starts out with action and doesn't really stop. It is full of twists and turns, action, suspense and just a the right amount of romance.

The Steele Brothers are a force of nature. They live hard and love harder. Britt, the eldest, is passionate about the endangered red wolves. He is determined to protect them. When his mentor, Barbara Shepherd, dies, her daughter inherits her land. Miranda needs money and the property is her only asset. Can Britt change her mind and help her save the wolves? Britt is a man to be admired. His love of the land and his desire to save this endangered species is compelling. He's on a mission. Randi is more than a match for him. Even though she and her mother were estranged she wants to do the right thing, but to save her business she needs money. She may be at odds with Britt but she's attracted to him. Britt is fighting his own battle with desire. The chemistry is amazing. I wanted a HEA but I knew the odds were against them. Things take a deadly turn, when a deadly trophy hunter attacks the wolves and anyone else who stands in his way. I couldn't put the book down until I knew everything was okay. Tracey Devlyn wrote a suspenseful story that kept me up way too late. The Steele men and their women are unstoppable. They belong in these rugged mountains. Britt might want to do it alone but his family has his back. I'm enjoying the Steele Ridge series. Their strength, courage and passion are to be admired.

Steele my heart! This Steele brother was not the romance that I thought I was getting. It was better! Full of passion, drive, family, stubbornness, angst. A love story along with action and suspense. Britt Steele is the strongest of all the brothers. He is always there guiding them and protecting them. Then there's Randi. She's caught his eye but maybe had his heart from all his talks with Randi's mom.

The interactions of Britt and Randi were fabulous. From when they were only learning about each other to when they were looking out for each other or the wolves, Britt & Randi just seemed to forge better versions of themselves. There were a lot of characters and they all were developed to understand where they were coming from without detracting. They were all crucial to the story.

This was the fourth in the Steele Ridge series. I had not read the first three and didn't feel that I missed anything crucial to this story. I was intrigued by the other relationships and will most likely read them, but didn't need them to enjoy this story.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, and heartbreak.

If you have not already read the below I would recommend reading those books first:
Steele Ridge: The Beginning
Going Hard (Steele Ridge, #2)
Living Fast (Steele Ridge, #3)

This is Randi and Britt’s story. Randi needs to sell her land. Britt needs that land to stay out of greedy hands. He needs it to keep his wolves safe. Is Randi sells it could help her save her business but can Britt help her out some other way? What happens when danger comes for them? When not only is the wolf pack threatened but they are? Can they fight together to win the battle? Will they be able to protect not only themselves but also the wolves? Can there love for the animals and each other save them? Or will that be there down fall?

I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

This is the first of the books I have read in this series, minus the preview book, and I loved every bit of it. Britt Steele is the oldest of the brothers. He is on a mission to protect the endangered red wolves that are on his neighbor's property in the mountains of North Carolina. Miranda Shepherd just inherited her mother's land and needs to make a fast sell in order to save her bar. She can't figure out why it is fast losing money. She has a buyer in mind that is willing to give her more than the property is worth, but she is torn between the money she needs and the man she is coming to love. I found it interesting to learn about the red wolves and trophy hunters, topics I previously didn't know anything about. I loved how close the Steele family is and I can't wait to read the other books.

I so enjoyed this book. Love the series! And this one was a great addition. Chocked full of danger and secrets this one keeps you guessing for a while.
Britt and Randi by themselves are such likeable characters but put them together and it's wow! Such chemistry and passion. The threats to their livelihoods and very own lives bring forth soul shattering secret for Randi and heartbreak for Britt.
With such degenerate men threatening everything Britt and Randi both hold dear, the Steele family bands together once again to show this town what they're made of. Can all be saved? Or will evil prevail and love and family lose all?

I highly recommend this book. It was fantastic. The suspenseful plot and intriguing family dynamic had me turning each page, craving more and more of the story. Britt seemed so ordinary and passive at first, until you really got to know him. I loved peeling back his layers. The plot was magnificent. Tracey Devlyn's writing was like a labyrinth with so many twists and turns, and it was very clever. I adore clever. As far as the series goes, I have read the prequel and this book, and had no trouble following along, or falling in love with Steele Ridge. In fact, I want more, so I'm going to be checking out the other books ASAP. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Loved my Big Bear

The his story was just as much about healing for Miranda and Britt as the whole Steele clan. The evil that they all faced as a family only strengthened this clan. I have a family that only hunts what they know that they will eat between seasons. The type of evil men described in this book exist but the way the author described their takedown was priceless.

I love that the big papa bear Britt found the perfect partner in Miranda. I hope to hear more about these first three couples in future books. Maybe a wedding or two and a couple of babies!

Definitely read this book

Britt has been the acting patriarch for his family and now finds himself trying to save endangered red wolves that are living in his area. Randi’s mother was Britt’s mentor for wildlife rescue. The two of them have to fight some truly evil people who love to hunt animals, no matter their endangered status. The suspense was greatly written and the love story was great to watch unfold. I hope there really aren’t people like the hunters in this book or, if there are, they are brought to justice!

Britt and Miranda.

A rugged mountain man Britt falls for his beautiful bar owner Randi, the one person who can save his beloved red wolves a passion he shared with her mother Barbara. Though some game hunters wanted to hunt the red wolves and buy the land. This story was good and suspenseful. So far the series has been very entertaining.

Britt Steele desperately wants to save the small population of Carolina red wolves living near his family’s conservation land from human intrusion. Miranda Shepherd desperately needs to save her bar/coffeehouse in the town of Steele Ridge from financial ruin. These two seemingly very opposite positions are very much linked in this nail-biting romantic suspense read in the Steele Ridge series. For in the beauty of the Western Carolina mountains, the hopeful sign that the native red wolf population may be growing is contrasted with the twisted view of “sport” that is chilling….

This book was quite a ride! Fairly early in the book you get an idea of who the bad guys are and what is going on. However, that does not take away from the suspense that continues to build; you may know the perpetrators, but you do not know what will happen next! There are a lot of contrasts in this book – the close, somewhat loving Steele family and Miranda’s long estrangement from her mom Barbara; the rough-hewn and plain-speaking Britt and the more refined Miranda; even the Steele brothers themselves have contrasting personalities and backgrounds. But these contrasts come together in a story about the best and worst of human nature.

I found the story well-written the characters well-drawn, and the villains sadly too realistic. I really liked Britt and Miranda; if I have any “con” in this book, I did think Britt’s interaction at times with Miranda was a bit chauvinistic and dated. I chalked it up to the author’s decision to make Britt a “plain ol’ country boy,” but I think that stereotype did a great disservice to the character. But I loved Britt’s big heart and strong drive enough to forgive that cliché. Nonetheless, I did enjoy the book and the visit to Steele Ridge!

I love the Steele family and there was none more mysterious than Britt Steele. The oldest of the Steele brothers, he held duty and honor in a manner different from his Green Beret brother, Reid. For him, duty and honor were to his family first and foremost, followed closely by his duty to conserve the land and animals in North Carolina. He'd carried the burden of being a father figure to his siblings for so many years that he found it difficult to let go, even when they were grown and starting lives of their own. Boy, did they show him that blood is thicker than water, and the duty he had done all these years did not go unnoticed.

Randi Shepard is in trouble. She has less than a week to save her bar while dealing with the overwhelming loss of her mother. Knowing she will be forced to sell her mother's land, she's filled with shame and guilt only she understands. Until Britt Steele walks into her life and shows her that he understands, too. As her mother's apprentice, he's always been around, but suddenly, she sees him in a whole new light.

Between mind-blowing kisses and fiery arguments, Randi and Britt develop an understanding of their situation and realize there's only one way to fix it. The problem stems from Britt's refusal to let his family help him and Randi's desperation to protect her employees. Someone will have to give or come up with a new plan that will propel them both into the life they've always wanted...together.

Awesome.

Two days ago I started this series and other than a brief pause to write a short review on my progress I just kept reading. i am now ready to read the last one available at the moment but felt I had to write aboutthe series and Loving Deep before I move on.
First of all the team who make up Family Steele are fantastic and diverse. Each with their own strengths and issues. Britt the star of this book is the oldest brother and has been playing Dad since his moved to some secluded cabin when all the kids were small. As the oldest he has carried the mantel of protection over his family as his A number one priority never realising they are adults now and can contribute to protecting each other.
This book is really about the entire family coming together for Britt to battle evil small minded men bent on the destruction of an endagered species. I could not put it down. The drama and suspense were fantastic and Britt of course gets the girl. Miranda had no chance. I really loved every page.

With the continuation of the Steele Ridge series, Tracey Devlyn brings us Britt's story. He's serious and gruff, but also fiercely protective and loyal to those he loves.

Britt Steele is determined to protect the endangered red wolves that are living on his family's property in the hills of North Carolina. He had a partner in his mentor and neighbor, but now is only left to deal with her daughter Miranda.

Miranda Shepherd isn't heartless, and she wishes she could help Britt, but her business is in deep trouble and she needs the funds she will get from selling her Mom's property abutting the Steele land and helping to protect the wolves.

When a few "accidents" start happening around the property and Miranda, it make Britt suspect something is amiss. His investigation leads to them finding out a trophy hunting club has set their sites on the wolves ... and Miranda! Will Britt be able to save both of the things he's grown to care for so strongly?

This was an exciting book. Britt was the oldest Steele brother who had always tried to take care of his brothers and sister after their father walked away. It was nice to see how dedicated he was to the red wolf population of the soon to be extinct red wolf population. His family had acres of land that they used as a sanctuary for animals. He had worked closely with Randi’s mother to help protect the red wolf family that was near his family land and Randi’s land.

There were some horrible things that happened and Randi did not get closure of her mother’s love of the wolves over her. There were some awful, awful men who wanted Randi’s land. I couldn’t believe how cruel they were to animals and even some people. Randi and Britt’s friendship/love had so many ups and downs that broke my heart at times. There were times I was on the edge of my seat with what was happening. I strongly encourage you to read the book.

This is the 4th book in the Steele Ridge series, or the 3rd full length novel.

Britt returns home from a conference to find his mentor is dead and the land she vowed to will to him was not finalized.
Randi never had a good relationship with her mother. Now she finds out that she was going to give someone else her heritage?

While I thought the story was a bit slow in unfolding, it sure packs a punch at the end. Ms. Devlyn writes a very intriguing tale of the plight of the newly discovered Red Wolves. Aside from the few times I wanted to yell at Britt because he was acting too much like is Tarzan nickname, I liked seeing how he worked himself around to ask for his brothers help. I felt a lot of empathy for Randi and her plight with the decisions she had to make and having only partial information.

Once things got rolling, I had a hard time putting the book down.

Intriguing!

This story is very interesting and exciting! Britt is the oldest Steele sibling. He lives to take care of his family and the natural habitat of endangered species. Randi is a strong woman who has been on her own for quite a while because of misunderstandings from the past. This couple is definitely swoon worthy!!

What I loved the most about this story is the knowledge I gained from the awesome research the author did on the red wolf and it’s plight to ward off extinction. This made the story intriguing and adding in the bad guys made it exciting! LOL!! Great story!

I wonder why is it that these Steele men feel the unnecessary need to accuse their female love interests of treacherous acts? Its like they intentionally try to sabotage a good thing...dumbasses!

Overall this was a real page turner from the last portion and on. Once all the players are identified and plans are put into motion, I couldn't put the book down. It was nerve wrecking! Before this point, the book was rather dry and boring. Britt and Randi, while cool characters, just didn't have that spark that the other couples did. They were to busy not trusting anyone, including each other, which made for a very hard to read first half.
