About the author

Cam Johns began her career as a published author in 2016 with the release of her first book - Arousing Consequences - to the three-part series, The Arousing Series. However, actually publishing wasn't part of her plan. After her husband was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, she found that writing became a great way to relieve the tension and mounted pressures that come with watching someone she loves suffer from such a harsh diagnosis. It was her husband that pushed her to share her voice, regardless of how erotic that voice would become.

Arousing Consequences by Cam Johns – Book 1 of The Arousing Trilogy

I went into this book blind. The cover had a purple X with red lips so I wasn’t even sure of the genre this was in. The first line of the book snagged me: “Choices. They can be simple or frivolous…or life altering”.

Karisma is a woman who is starting her dream job. She is excited and looking forward to her new adventure. Jackson is a man who has made his way to the top. He has professional success and personal demons that he deals with on a daily basis. He is surrounded by a tight knit group of trusted people and one who doesn’t have relationships or open himself up to others.

There is a lot going on in this book. There is a mystery and suspense and drama and sweep off of your feet romance and sexy times and so much else. It flowed well from beginning to end and I liked the visually appealing way the story was written. The time frame this story takes place is very fast. It’s about 6 months from beginning to end and the way the protagonists communicate show that they don’t know each other very well. They quickly go back and forth from being loving to angry and unforgiving. It’s a bit of a stretch, but that’s what fiction is all about.

I’m very glad that I already have book 2 downloaded so I can dive right in and continue with this engaging series.

Well that escalated quickly!

Karisma and Jackson meet on the elevator on her first day of work. There is instantly a spark, and Jackson knows boyfriend or not Karisma will be his eventually.

I loved all the characters and what to spend more time with all of them. Watching their relationship blossom and her relationship with all the secondary characters was fun to read. Although Jackson takes love and possessiveness to a new level I still loved it. The only thing I didn’t love is how long she stayed with Kevin, it made it kinda hard to root for Kay and Jackson at first.

The ending brought in the mystery and I wish that suspense would’ve been weaved in more but I have a feeling it will be in the next 2 books. That was a nice twist although I knew early on Kevin and her mom were involved.

Overall, great characters, interesting story, and lots of steamy love scenes. Read it!

I have whiplash from this book. Karisma and Jackson have some volatile emotions. One minute their happy and the next minute they're ready to throw down. I kept wanting to tell them to take a chill pill. In their defense both of them have lived through some serious stuff. Karisma has dealt with Kevin's cheating and lying. Jackson has dealt with Malcolm and Kim... though we aren't sure whats up with that yet. I'm just crazy enough to want to know what happens next.

This is my first book by this author and I can't wait to see more of her books! I loved her ability to pull me in from the first word and keep me reading until the last word. I couldn't put this book down, I read it in one sitting, hands down. Her writing style is such that it is creative, engaging and will keep you just wanting more. Her attention to details will make you feel like you are right there with the characters. Her characters are creative, connectable and you will fall in love with them. They will take you on a roller coaster ride of various emotions from laughter to anger. This is the story of Karisma and Jackson. This is the story centers itself on pretty much one character, Karisma but we do get to see some of Jackson's side also. Karisma is just starting a new job which is when she meets Jackson on a chance meeting. Their attraction to each other is instant. She kind of feels a little guilty for feeling what she feels because she has a boyfriend, Kevin at home. Kevin is not the nicest boyfriend and doesn't treat Karisma very well at all. But he has been her constant support after the murder of her father. What will happen when she realizes that her life is worth more then what she is getting? What will happen when things start heating up between Karisma and Jackson? Their twists and turns will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat one minute and the next needing ice water to cool off. Is there a consequence for every choice made? But are the consequences worth it? Will Karisma find her HEA? These are some strong characters. Karisma is feisty and is full of attitude. Jackson is the alpha male in this story. He has a past and a story all on his own. He has secrets that could be hurtful, will he reveal them? He is strong and like to have control but the best part of him is watching Karisma turning him to putty. I didn't care for Kevin, there is just something about him that I couldn't stand. I loved the secondary characters as well. They are supportive and you will find yourself connecting with them. There is no doubt these characters will leave you with a book hangover. I can't wait to see more of them and what will happen in the second book. I highly recommend this book, you will need to see what happens with these characters and what is lurking behind corners. Things you will never see coming!

Yes, I’m telling you right up front, that there is a huge cliffhanger leading to AROUSING SECRETS, (PART 2 of THE AROUSING TRILOGY), but while some cliffhangers are annoying and make me want to throw my kindle....this one is exciting and does exactly what a good cliffhanger should....it makes you anticipate the next book with excitement....❤️🌼🔥
There are many reasons I loved AROUSING CONSEQUENCES....It drew me in from the first page...and kept me interested until the very last page....I loved the subject and storyline (it’s not the same old, same old), I loved the characters... Karisma and Jackson, (seriously, who doesn’t love the story of an all TRUE-ALPHA male (this one is a millionaire) and a strong woman he loves but can not control?), I loved the different roadblocks this couple has to go over, around or blow to bits, I love the style of writing by this author, but I especially like that it is not the same book I’ve read over and over....This is a different book IN A GOOD WAY, and Cam Johns is already an excellent author!....I also love the hot, steamy love scenes, and I’ve read books by some established authors who couldn’t give us this much heat....This is definitely a true love story, and it’s not just a “good book for a first book”....This is just a GOOD BOOK, PERIOD!!❤️🌼🔥
I know it’s sometimes a little iffy for some of you trying to decide if you want to read the first book of a new author, (Personally, I love “discovering” new authors, but I know not everyone wants to take that chance with neither their money nor their time....) but in my opinion, there is nothing iffy about Cam Johns or her writing talent, and there is definitely nothing iffy about AROUSING CONSEQUENCES ....And after reading it, you will understand why I can hardly wait for AROUSING SECRETS....❤️🌼🔥

This is a debut novel from Cam Johns, and part one of a trilogy. I was impressed with the flow of the story and the twists and turns that were at every corner of this book. I had no idea what I was getting going into this book other than it had to do with some secrets from the general synopsis. Lordy this was so much more though. So much adrenaline is packed into the pages, hot steamy love scenes, mystery, murder, drama, and so, so much more.
“Choices. They can be simple or frivolous…. Or life altering. There are always helpful hints leading you to the right choice, but do we always accept them for what they are?”
Choices and secrets, that’s the name of the game for this novel. These two things are the connecting lines to each and every character. The best part is you don’t know exactly how or why or what until the end and even then, you are left with some more questions.
We are introduced to Karisma Washington as the lead female of this book. She is one sassy, and witty woman. She is a strong woman but a few choices she has made has led her to the situations she is dealing with in this book now, much like the other lead character, Jackson Turner. He is the hot, hot, hot, alpha male of the story, with some of his own secrets and choices that he is dealing with. There are a few other side characters that we meet but the most important one to mention and follow would probably be that of Kevin Matthews, Karisma’s once current and now ex-boyfriend. This is one of those books that you just have to read to really understand what all is going on. It is told from dual POV’s and there is a lot of mystery woven into it. It would be very much a shame to give too much away in a review other than a few of my favorite quotes and that this is a must read. In fact, you will want to make sure you get the second one asap because this leaves with the perfect cliffhanger, the kind where you want to throw your kindle down cry because you need to know what is coming next!

The story Arousing Consequences: The Right Side of Wrong (The Arousing Series Book 1) by Cam Johns is an erotica/romance book. This is a wonderful book the I loved reading. It is a story that had me hooked from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put down until I had finished the last page. It has steamy loves scenes that will have you turning on the fan and reaching for a glass of ice water. This story also includes mysteries that must be solved which could lead to danger. I loved the main character of Karisma Washington. She is a woman who is smart, beautiful, and not afraid of saying what she means and doing what she must, even if those that are there to protect her disagree with her course of action. This story finds Karisma starting a new job at a Rehabilitation Center. She finds her world changing as secrets are revealed regarding someone close to her. She also finds herself with an attraction to a man that has vowed to protect her. There is strong chemistry between these two and they act on the passion that they feel for each other. I loved reading how Karisma and the one she has feelings for interact. Has Karisma learned all the secrets that were hidden or are there still some that are yet to be revealed? What does the future hold for both Karisma and the man that she is falling in love with? This the first book that I have read by the author and the first book in a series. This story does end in a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read the next one. This author has written a wonderful story that has amazing characters. This book does include mature subject matter with lots of steamy love scenes. It would be recommended for those 18 years of age or older.

Karisma is getting ready to start her new job at a Rehabilitation Center. She is finally moving forward from her father’s death. She is also struggling with trust issues regarding her boyfriend, he seems to be falling into the same pattern when things went wrong the first time.

Choices. We all make them. Will yours affect the ones you love?

On her first day at work Karisma meets Jackson. There is something about him that she instantly is attracted to. When Jackson sees Karisma he is instantly drawn to her and is determined to make her his.

Karisma struggles with her desire for Jackson, knowing that Kevin is still in her life. When things take a very unexpected, big twist things shift for both Karisma and Jackson. Now that Jackson has his chance he will do anything to keep her. Will his secrets ruin what they could have? Will Kevin give her up that easily?

I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was coming next. There were so many things happening I felt like my head was spinning at times. I loved how feisty Karisma was and demanding when she wanted to be. And Jackson, oh my that boy is quite the alpha male in and out of the bed. The sex was off the charts hot and they couldn’t get enough of each other. I will warn you that we end on a heck of a cliff hanger, NOOO. I’m struggling with having to wait until the next book, Arousing Secrets. This is my first read from Cam Johns and I loved it, I can’t wait to read more from her.

This book was really good! I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from the blurb but I was completely hooked into this story from the beginning right until the very end. It was well written overall and a great introduction to a new author for me. I really liked all of the different twists and turns, there were some great ones that I did not expect at all.
I really liked the characters, Karisma and Jackson; they just had this great intense chemistry between them. I really felt for Karisma at the beginning of the story, she was struggling with her relationship with Kevin – the things that came out about him were shocking! The story is told, in the majority, from Karisma’s POV but we do get a few snippets from Jackson’s POV which I liked, they were short but just enough to get to know him a little better. I also liked some of the secondary characters too.
I will be honest there’s a lot of sex in this book so it is definitely intended for mature readers only. Whilst I don’t always enjoy a book that contains a lot of these types of scenes, I did this one because they were short and well written so they didn’t drag on too much. The story still flowed really well and the pace kept up throughout the book.
A really great book and I highly recommend it. I can’t wait for the next book in the trilogy!

This was my first time reading anything by Cam Johns and I really excited I discovered this wonderful author. Arousing Consequences: The Right Side of Wrong was an amazing surprise, I went into this book not wanting to know about it and I didn't read any reviews. Karisma Washington is starting her first job since graduating college as a Physical Therapist at Healing House the top rehabilitation center in the area. She's been trying to get her life back on track after the murder of her father 3 years ago. Her boyfriend Kevin Matthews was there for her to help her get through her grief and depression unfortunately he lost her trust and things haven't been the same. He is hiding something from her again she finds herself pulling away. Her first day at work she meets Jackson Turner and they have this undeniable pull to each other. She keeps her distance because she has a boyfriend until she discovers something about Kevin that almost destroys her again. That is until she doesn't then all bets are off, danger is lurking around the corner, jealousy, hot tempers, steamy sex, even love but then heartbreaking gutwrenching betrayal happens. Wow this book will have you on an emotional rollercoaster ride of emotions from the beginning to the end. Can wait to start book 2 in the series Arousing Secrets!

Cam Johns has started The Arousing Series off with a steamy and hot read. Arousing Consequences is a Erotica romance book full of suspense and secrets. Cam takes the time to develop a storyline which I like sometime the sex over takes the storyline. The characters are fully developed and real.
Karisma is still healing after the loss of her father. She is a strong, beautiful and kind. She decides to not let life’s pain define her. After some years she decides to start a new career at the best Rehabilitation Center. Which opens a door Karisma never expected.
We also meet Karisma boyfriend Kevin who may not be what he appears to be. Defiantly a mystery there. We also have the pleasure of meeting Jackson ( and what a pleasure it was) who happens to be the boss. Karisma meets the blue eyed and sexy owner when she goes on an interview. Jackson also has some secrets.
Sex! Secrets! & Suspense what more do you need in a book. Cam has pulled all these elements into a hot and sexy read that will draw you in. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the others in this series.

Arousing Consequences is the first book in the Arousing Series by Cam Johns. I enjoyed the book overall but there were a few things that bothered me. I understood that Jackson and Karisma were an interracial couple and applaud that since it isn't something that is written about too often. I didn't like how the race of everyone else was mentioned. I think she could have described the characters without bringing skin tone into it since I think the characters personalities are the most important part of that individual.

Karisma appears to be strong when you first meet her and has the potential of being a very strong woman but she isn't. When things get tough for her she runs off instead of confronting the problem head on. Jackson has a dominate side which can be hot, but also has an almost child like quality to him. He is always needing reassurance that things are going to be okay.

I like the twists the author threw at us through the book, enough so that I'm already reading the second book to see how this all plays out, I hope this isn't another cliff hanger ending. My nerves can't take it. I am really hoping that both Karisma and Jackson grow as individuals and as a couple and see the value in not only the other but themselves.

Oooh, I think I have fallen in love with Jackson! He's such a vulnerable character that I am willing to overlook a few flaws, like his bossy, possessive nature fueled by insecurity. He's a good man Savannah!(In my Waiting to Exhale Voice)

I love that he loves Karisma so much that he is willing to do anything. What I don't like are the secrets. I have to give it to my girl Karisma, she is a trooper. I don't know if I would be able to deal with all of Jackson's outbursts without reading him for filth.

Karisma is a strong woman who loves hard. When the book began, I was a little annoyed that she stayed with Kevin for so long. She wasn't really feeling him like that anymore. He was good for her pleasure only. With his lying, trifling self. I am not one for cheating, but I was cheering for her and Jackson to get together from the get go.

This story takes you on a winding road of emotional baggage without giving you the full story. I am disappointed in Jackson at the end for not telling his big secret and I am surprised Karisma didn't read anything about it in her online search about him.

Since this in book one in a continuing series, I am looking forward to the next installment! I'll be back with that review shortly.

Arousing Consequences: The Right Side of Wrong by Cam Johns is book one in The Arousing Series. These books will definitely need to be read in order. In this book we meet Karisma a women who has seen way too much heartache for one person. I love Karisma’s character she’s sassy, tough and just a bit soft around the edges with her heart of gold. Then we meet Jackson, who’s got plenty of reason to be closed off but can’t seem to do that with Karisma. Jackson is the alpha we all love in our romance novels for sure strong, hot, protective and soft for just the right person. These two have a passion for each other that you feel in waves coming off the pages. This book has mystery, suspense and enough romance to knock your socks off.
While I can agree with the blurb that if you like those kind of authors than you will love this book, it’s just different enough to keep it refreshing and new though. The story line is well thought out and written well. The characters are complex and honestly fun loving. I am anxiously counting down the days to the final book for sure. I give this book a five star review for having me hooked from page one.

Arousing Consequences by Cam Johns is an exciting and intriguing drama that is shrouded in mystery. This is my first time reading this author’s work, and I have to say what an exciting read it was. Totally captivating, mesmerizing and consuming.

Arousing Consequences started with a bang, and just got better. Life for both Karisma and Jackson was never boring and never lacked tension and danger lurked around almost every corner. I was unaware of what to expect, other than the unexpected. Mysterious describes this book perfectly, and Cam Jones is an absolute master of suspense. Enthralling is another brilliant way to explain the quality of the story and the depth of the characters, who were superb in their mystery. Every part played perfectly, coming together to give the reader something incredible.

It is such a joy to find a talented and amazing author. Cam Jones is an author I will definitely be adding to my must read list, and cannot wait for the next chapter in Jackson and Karisma’s tale. 5 stars.

Let me just say wow. This book had everything. The scenes were amazing and the emotions just felt so real. Karisma Washington is not your average woman. She has been through so much and yet she just keeps going. This wasn’t like every other hot book out there. Were there similar moments yes but the author truly put a spin on this erotic novel. From the characters to the plot to the characters the author had me devouring every page. It wasn’t just the hot scenes or the really hot guy but the way the author wrote it and the pieces just fit. Jackson was pure alpha and we all know how hard they love and wish to control their women. But Karisma wasn’t the type of woman to just let a man lead her. I can’t wait for the next book. I don’t like cliffhangers at all but I won’t get mad over this one. I'm excited for the next book. This author’s debut book is a complete success. I recommend you get this if your looking for something to get you over the same old same old.

Wowsers!! This book is hot! I loved the sex scenes in this story. I loved that the main characters didn’t fight themselves about their feelings for each other. It was almost insta-love but not quite. Loved the main female character’s name, Karisma. Loved her personality; she’s sassy, fresh and real. She’s tough and sexy at the same time. Jackson, the main male character, is just as tough, but also sweet and vulnerable. He is hot and sexy as well. They are a match made in heaven. However, secrets and lies can ruin even the best relationships. How can they ever get past these lies? I didn’t like the typical “CEO millionaire buying cars, phones, and clothes for the love of his life” but I guess maybe that’s just a little of my own jealousy coming through, (lol).

This is my first book by Cam Johns and am SO looking forward to reading the next in this series! I highly recommend this story to the over 18 reader. The name kind of tells you that this won’t be a story for your prude friends or those that are young.

This is my first read from this author. I didn't really know what to expect, but I liked it.

What I liked: The smut. Jonathan, the brother is amazing! I'm starting to get used to the author's writing style.

What I didn't like: The swinging emotions from both characters. They went from happy to angry really quick and sometimes it was because of something so insignificant. Because of this it seemed really immature and therefore I became annoyed. But it's fiction so..... Also, having characters names that are so familiar (Jackson and Jonathan) sometimes got me confused. But this just might be a 'me' thing.

To me, Karisma kissing Jackson willingly and wanting to do it again, is my definition of cheating. So I was quite peeved with her because she holds both the men in her life (Kevin and Jackson) accountable for cheating and she's so suspicious because Kevin cheated (which I totally get and agree with) but she herself is a cheater-to me.

This is the first book I have read from the author, and I can proudly say, I can't wait to see what she comes up with next! This book was amazing, there was so much detail put into the characters and their story line, that I was able to finish this story in one night. An amazing 5 star read!

Karisma first meets Jackson on her first day of work, she's instantly attracted to him and he's drawn to her in a way he never thought possible. Karisma starts to struggle with her attraction to Jackson since she's still seeing someone, but then things take a huge turn and Jackson finally has his shot. But what happens when he's got secrets? Will they get their chance at a relationship?

This book was an amazing start to the series! It's filled with great secondary characters and will leave you wanting more. I can't wait to see what happens next!

Arousing consequences by Cam Johns was a very good read. I stayed up all night to get through this one and really enjoyed it. Karisma is the main character of the story and she can be very emotional and at times she was also very irrational, but her personality was sometimes even relatable to my own. There are quite a few steamy scenes in this story as well so if you like being hot and bothered I recommend this one! There was some mystery and even suspense rolled into this erotic and thrilling book. The scenery that Cam describes and the relationships and interactions make it so easy to imagine what she was writing. This was a longer bit of a read but like I said I stayed up all night I kept saying after this chapter and then I’d get to the next and say after this one because it was that captivating from start to finish! This is my first time reading anything by this author and I’m extremely glad I did.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. The cover is beautiful with a lot of vibrant colors, and it gives the vibe of romance for me. I thought, for the most part, the writing was pretty solid, it could be a tad stronger but did not take away from my overall enjoyment of the story.

I liked the main character, Karisma right away. She’s smart and well-educated, starting a kick-butt new job. I thought Cam Johns did a great job with the research for Karisma’s job. Her position in the medical field rang true and was sprinkled into the story with the right amount of flare.

I love that it turned out to be an interracial couple.

There is a murder mystery, some intrigue, and some mystery mixed with hot characters. The sex scenes didn’t really do it for me. They were lacking emotion and the five senses that bring out my emotion. They kind of came off as more of a list of things the characters were doing with some dialog thrown in.

If you’re looking for a decent romance book, this is a good one.

Loved it!! I can't wait to start book 2!

So. Let's talk about Ms. Karisma Washington and her little self. She is a survivor. So much stronger than she gives herself credit for. After the death of her father her world falls a part and Kevin does help her through it. He also helps himself in to other things.
Karisma learns how strong she is and meets Jackson (new book boyfriend!) He is sweet and witty with a possessive side that is so sexy! He has a huge secret...that I was like really!! Just tell her?!
This book was an emotional twisted road. I loved the character building because all great characters are not perfect. Cam Johns writes these likeable and gritty characters so well you will be routing for Karisma the whole time.
The plot thickens toward the end and by the last page you,the reader, will want more! I enjoyed reading Karisma's story and can not wait to see where the author takes us next! I am invested in this journey and just have to see it through!!!

Arousing Consequences by Cam Johns is just an AMAZING read!! I am so excited that I picked this one up to read. This book had everything in it: love, lust, erotica, mystery, and suspense. I couldn’t put it down. I wish I didn’t have to work for a living so that I could read more of her books. Johns is fantastic with dialogue between the characters and really makes the reader feel like they are in the story participating along. This story focuses on Karisma Washington and her relationship with her live-in boyfriend and shows her interactions with everyone around her. The best part about this book is that you get the point of view of each character and multiple private conversations and inner thoughts. Each of these things just make the story come to life. I can’t wait to see what else Cam will come out with.

This book is just so steamy and hot! I couldnt put it down. The whole chemistry of Jackson and Karisma is so off the charts and the mystery and lingering of Jacksons past just add to this book. This book offered a nice refreshing change to some of my favorite genre of romance.

The book is a good beginning to what I hope will be a good series as the author leaves us on a nail biting cliff hanger for this book. The rauchy, steamy chemistry between Jackson and Karisma just definetly leave you wanting more and more of their story. The first person point of view telling of the story adds to the drama of the book and also the great build up of suspence. This book had a few twists and turns I didnt see coming and was quite surprised to see happen. There is so much I cannot wait to see what happens for Jackson and Karisma next.

Fantastic book by Cam Johns. Karisma Washington and Jackson Turner meet at the rehabilitation center she was starting a new job at. The attraction was instant and the chemistry off the charts. Only problem was Karisma had a boyfriend, Kevin Moore. They had a troubled relationship because Kevin had cheated on Karisma before and she had trust issues with him. She had lost her Dad three years previously and Kevin had been there for her during that difficult time, but she just wasn't quite so happy anymore. Kevin was coming home later and later, acting strange. Finally Karisma had enough. Now Jackson had a shot. Even though things were going too fast, these two couldn't keep their hands off each other. Drama, secrets, hot romance, twists and turns that will keep you reading to the end. Will this new couple have a chance at happily ever after? Will secrets tear them apart?

End of Part One

You have got to be kidding me? Argh! OMGosh! This book is up and down. Just when you think they're going to get they're happy ever after, the author throws another twist in the story. But, that's good in one sense, too. See, the plot is staggered so there's action, and then there's bedroom action. Back and forth. And it's really well written action, if you get my drift.

So, I am ready for Jackson to finally tell Karisma his big secret that's plagued the entire story line, and she leaves in a huff - again! She's got to quit leaving. This is plain an issue of deep, abiding trust, and both of them are guilty of saying "I love you" without the real work on themselves that proves their love is real.

But, look at me here, trying to give fictional characters relationship advice. That's how caught up I get in good stories. Now I gotta read the next!

This is the first I’m reading by Cam. I really like the way she writes. She made this book a little bit of everything which I loved. The romance, the mystery, hot and steamy and funny. It was a great book. The only thing I wasn’t really to big of a fan of was that Karisma and Jackson moved way to fast I feel. I know the heart wants what it wants but I feel like it just was way to fast. I love Karisma I think she’s great. Jackson makes me weak at the knees. His overprotectiveness is a little much but that just makes him him. I don’t want to give anything away but When they showed off in front of the paparazzi I swooned lol

I’m very curious about the next book and what will happen.

I recommend this book to anyone who wants a well written book with a little bit of everything ..
