I love it. I don't think it's the best thing ever, but I think it makes my heart beat a little more in tune with the world. It's the little joys that no one really knows that make the world a little more intruding, a little more intriguing each day.

Oh my goodness, after four years this web comic finally finished! The author got the idea from a dream she had about a smart-ass blind boy with hair covering half his face, sharp teeth and a big earring. He said to her, "Hi my name is Elios Zaquen." When she woke up, she wrote down the name and drew the character. And so Flawless was born.
This comic is amazing. A teenager named Elios who has been blind from birth meets a girl named Sarah and they fall in love, but it's about so much more than that. Elios is brilliant, charismatic and supremely self-assured, in part because he has Daredevil-like super hearing. But that same ability also gives him sensory processing problems, and he struggles to empathize with others. Is he a cruel manipulator, or can he learn to be a better person?
Even though he has somewhat superhuman abilities, the depiction of blindness is surprisingly realistic and sensitive, avoiding most of the cliches and stereotypes. Also Elios has several classmates who are also visually impaired, and there is a lot of discussion about how they are all different from each other. It's more original and better written than most professionally published romance novels.
The first few chapters are a bit childish and silly in tone, and the artwork is a little rough. But as the characters mature, the artwork and writing mature as well. It's incredible to watch the author develop her talent and explore complex ideas. Highly, highly recommended.

Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this as much as I thought I would. I hoped for a genuine representation of a blind person, instead Elios was some supernatural human being and no one even thought it was odd. Why can he do all these things? Why does no one question it AT ALL? If there was a valid science behind it, I could support it, but not even that. Nothing made sense:
- Even if you have better hearing, you wouldn‘t be able to see for instance what‘s inside the present box. Why? Because the sound waves would become distorted or just not arrive at all.
- He can tell if someone lies or is in love just by listening to their heartbeat. Dude, if it was that easy, people in court would have to wear heartbeat measure gears at all time.
- He has autism but except for his problems with emotional outbreaks I just didn‘t see it. He was the best at reading emotions of others and he did not seem to have any repetitive behavior patterns? I don‘t get it.
It felt like the characters got labels that made them diverse, but in the end the labels didn‘t really matter. The blind und autistic boy was not really blind and autistic. Instead he is the typical ML that is flawless and overpowered in every way, except for his bad personality until the FL „changes“ him. So, the cliche is just wrapped up in a more creative way. Besides that though, it was a good read.

The story is about Elios Zanquen, a mischievous guy who was born blind, and Sarah Francesca, a strong-willed girl. Their paths cross when Elios flips Sarah's skirt with his white cane and state that he did it on purpose. Despite been blind, Elios seems to be very much aware of his surroundings and sensitive to people's behavior. As the story progresses, Sarah and Elios become closer and their feelings develop. We get to understand more about Eliot and how others approach blind people. But nothing is at it seems and Elios' "disability" can be his weakness or his greatest power...

This had been one of the first series that got me into webtoon.
I finally got around to finishing it as it got translated into the English language.
10/10 fully recommend and it’s just so good!!
Loved all the characters and Sarah and Elios are so complex but all the other characters are just as important and the author is amazing with her story telling and plot and how everything is connected.

Kuanggap ini entry buat season 1nya deh haha. Kalau lihat dari kover, sepertinya sih gitu.
So, webtoon ini menjual kisah tentang percintaan Sarah Fransesca, seorang gadis remaja tomboy dengan Elios Zanquen, pemuda buta. Tapi yang istimewa, webtoon ini tidak menjual air mata dan memosisikan kedifabelan pemuda itu sebagai sumber drama penguras emosi dan pemancing simpati.
Elios digambarkan seperti superhero Daredevil yang bisa begitu berdaya dan berjaya meski buta. (Jadi... apakah Sarah itu semacam Elektra buat Elios? Hehehe).
Sarah yang tampak kuat dan percaya diri digambarkan terasing, tapi hanya pada taraf wajar. Dia tetap punya teman di sekolah. Hanya saja kedekatannya dengan mereka tak sampai membuatnya bisa punya teman main. Reputasi Sarah sebagai tukang tonjok anak cowok yang berani menggombalinya pun sudah tersebar luas.
Tapi suatu hari, setelah menghadapi preman, Sarah bertemu dengan pemuda buta seumurannya (masih SMP mereka. Sekitar 15 tahun) yang... menyingkap roknya dengan tongkat. Wahahahaha. Kurang ajar! Tapi gak sampai jadi ecchii kok penggambarannya. Aman. Aman.
Sarah pun bingung, mau marah, tapi kok yang nyingkap orang buta. Dia kira Elios nggak sengaja. Padahal... sengaja! Kok bisa? Indra Elios selain penglihatan diceritakan punya ketajaman yang extraordinary. Baik pendengaran, penciuman, dan perabaan, semua itu menggantikan fungsi matanya. Tak hanya itu, dia juga punya tubuh lentur dan lincah yang bisa digunakan untuk melakukan gerakan akrobatik sampai jumpalitan naik turun atap dan berkelahi melawan penjahat. Daredevil banget, dah. Tapi versi shoujo yang unyu-unyu hehehe.
Season 1 Flawless terdiri dari 50 Episode. Dan kita akan disuguhi adegan-adegan kocak soal Sarah yang kena lovestruck Elios, imajinasinya yang unyu-unyu meski tampilan luarnya segahar itu, kegemasan Sarah tiap dikerjain atau dibuat geer sama Elios, juga rasa penasaran Sarah karena Elios tak mau membuka poni dan kacamata hitam yang memperlihatkan matanya.
Meski begitu, konflik Flawless enggak bisa dibilang hanya seratus persen soal cinta. Konflik pembuka cerita Sarah dan Elios justru gawat banget, loh. Usaha menyelamatkan Merry, teman panti asuhan Elios yang buta dan lumpuh dari penculikan preman. Gawatnya lagi, ternyata yang menyuruh penculikan itu adalah anak seumuran mereka. Kok bisa? Di situ misterinya.
Hubungan Sarah dan Elios pun berawal dari kecurigaan karena Elios dengan sengaja memanfaatkan Sarah sebagai umpan pengalih perhatian agar bisa menyelamatkan Merry. Pertimbangannya karena Sarah bisa berkelahi dan membela diri. Tapi ya keterlaluan banget, kan. Herannya, Sarah tetep bisa nerima Elios simply karena... dia suka. Juga karena Elios menjelaskan itu semua, bukannya kabur. Sarap juga manipulasinya Elios.
Cerita kemudian berlanjut ke saat mereka berusaha menyelidiki biang kerok di balik insiden penculikan itu. Di sini hubungan Sarah dan Elios mulai terjalin. Ada juga karakter pendukung yang nggak sekadar lewat seperti Sigit, teman Elios yang jadi semacam perantara pesan antara Sarah dan Elios (karena hapenya Elios dipegang dia), dan duo kembar Joan dan Jean yang heboh pisan. Identitas biang kerok dan alasannya sendiri juga gak terduga. Semua ini ada hubungannya dengan Panti Asuhan St. Bethania tempat Elios tinggal sejak kecil.
Konflik season 1 ditutup dengan perjuangan Sarah untuk masuk SMA favorit Koios atas permintaan ibunya. Ia pun mengajak Elios untuk sama-sama masuk ke sana. Namun, ternyata permintaan ibunya itu didasari oleh suruhan tante Rosie yang suka menghina ibu Sarah. Buat sang tante, almarhum adik laki-lakinya sudah mengorbankan hidup dengan sia-sia demi menikahi ibu Sarah yang tampaknya tidak memiliki status sosial yang sebanding.
Sarah juga galau karena ia memendam rasa iri dengan Elios yang tampaknya bisa mendapatkan apa yang dia mau dengan mudah. Kegeniusan Elios membuatnya sampai ditawari beasiswa Koios sampai beberapa kali.
Kini Sarah pun harus menghadapi kegalauannya sendiri soal pride, gengsi dan egonya, dengan memilah mana sebenarnya hal yang benar-benar penting baginya.
Yang menarik, hints plot twist untuk beberapa season ke depan ternyata sudah dimasukkan dari sejak season 1. Haha, kalau bacanya mingguan, agak susah ngingetnya. Cara baca maraton memang yang terbaik xD
