Cuckoo

She’s shrewd and unforgiving,
Focused on her own agenda.
Her motives are selfish,
And she always gets her man.

Zara’s existence is unrecognizable from life before Raven. Given all they’ve lost, the Kindred are still trying to find their rhythm. Except when an almost impossible-to-refuse bid for Game Time comes in, they have to get their shit together fast.

Raven is hesitant, Swallow is sure, and Swift is right in the middle. Facts they’d always accepted as sacred are suddenly called into question. With the truth no longer certain, they have to be willing to do whatever it takes to rewrite history.

Another fantastic book by Scarlett Finn that's filled with unexpected twists, double-crossing and of course romance.

This book picks up where Swallow (Kindred, #2) by Scarlett Finn leaves off, Kindred is still in possession of Game Time and they are trying to figure out who all of their enemies are. After the way things ended in Swallow, Zara is confused as to what her role within Kindred is. Everyone has their own skill set and she begins to feel like she doesn't have anything to bring to the table. When Raven makes the decision to bring in his ex to help run CI, Zara begins to doubt her role as Kindred and as his lover. As enemies come out of the woodwork, Kindred must close ranks and figure out who's behind everything before time runs out.

The passion and heat between Zara and Brodie is just as hot (if not hotter) than in the first two books. These two are a perfect combination of sex and sass that will keep you laughing while they banter with one another. I was very surprised, but thrilled, with the ending. I couldn't have picked a better HEA for these two.

Am I the only one thinking that Scarlett Finn seems to writing constantly? She really seems to breathe books. Usually the reader has to complain about a long waiting time until he gets the next book in a series but not with this author.

Ms. Finn lets you barley breath through your emotions of the last ride you took with her when already the next journey is knocking on your door. Not that I am complaining – far from it – because it keeps you in the middle of things.

This time it was “Cuckoo” the 3rd book in the “Kindred-series” that I had the pleasure of reading. Writing a review without giving away anything about the story has become an almost impossible, because any tiny bit I tell might be too much.

And given my emotional Outbursts during reading … well – lets say “If I would let my honest emotions flow into this review there would be a lot of ##beeps## to erase offensive words”

In many points the book was exactly as I expected (in a good way) in others it wasn’t and that also was a good thing, because it kept me guessing whether or not I was right about certain things and developments. Turns out to be 50/50 which is actually a good sign as usually when an author writes a series it gets easy for the reader to predict certain events happening the more books he read in that series.

Looking back to the first book in that series I somehow feel now, after reading Cuckoo, that the balance of power between Raven and Swallow has shifted. And I think if you asked me before reading this 3rd part I would have refused to admit that I like it.

Things will be getting interesting now because the next books will most likely be focusing on other members than Raven and Swallow and it will be interesting to see if the dynamics that have been established can be maintained.

And how much the reader will get to see from our favorite couple in the future. But I admit I can hardly wait to hear Swifts and/or Zave’s story.

Oh Scarlett Finn...what you do to my heart! I don't know whether to hug you or beat you! Like the other two books in the series Cuckoo proved to be the emotional rollercoaster I thought it would. Again 5 stars doesn't even begin to do this book justice. I want more options when it comes to rating!

This book continues the saga of Game Time and what to do with it. Thinking that everything is over with Grant's death, it quickly becomes apparent that it's not. Swallow is dealing with whether to stay at CI or just walk away. With Grant no longer around there really is much investigating that needs done. She's struggling with her place in the Kindred as well. She really isn't sure where she fits in at all right now, but she knows she never wants to be without Raven. Until the one person who could ruin all that for her comes in to her life, Cuckoo.

Much like the last two books this one takes us from one extreme to the next. There were times I was outright yelling at this story. This book sucked me in and wouldn't let go, much like the previous two. I'm left with a feeling of not really knowing if this is the end or not. If it is, Miss Scarlett and I need to have some words. But I'm honestly hoping it's not. I need more...I need to know that they get their normal. I need to know that they end up married and have tons of little kick ass babies. And I need to know what is going to happen with a few other characters...you know who. Scarlett Finn...you write amazing books! I thank you for the chance to read these stories and to fall in love with the characters.

Cuckoo is a perfect love story! Scarlett leads you on a journey of love and devotion you won’t want to miss.

As we continue in book three, we grow closer to Zara and Brodie as we go even deeper into understanding their relationship and their love for each other. The conversations between Zara and Brodie are interesting, funny and insightful. The sex is even more steamy and all consuming that it does not disappoint!!

The author does an impressive job at making Zara relatable to her readers. Zara is dealing with self doubt and uncertainty within herself and her current status. She is a strong woman but everyone is tested in life and it made me understand her and her vulnerabilities even better.

Brodie once again is captivating and alluring. He wants to find his happiness with Zara and will stop at nothing to do so but can he protect her from all the outside forces that want to do them both harm and take away his only shot at true love.

Scarlett crafts a fast-paced, compelling and exciting story, I absolutely loved this story and the ending is fantastic! I worried, laughed ,cried and I fell in love.

Wow. I don't even know if I can form the words to talk about this book! Excitement, happiness, intrigue, fear, sadness, satisfaction all roll together to make another wonderful thriller. As we delve deeper into the world of the Kindred, the relationship between Swallow and Raven continues to dig its way into my heart. Raven seems to finally be growing more comfortable expressing his feelings, and when he does, trust me you will swoon! And I'm not gonna lie, the sex scenes in this one were even hotter than the previous books! We find some new twists in this book, and find some answers that we have wondered about, and come across some new mystery to keep us intrigued until the next chapter. I can't wait for more from the Kindred!

4.5 Crazy Cuckoo Stars!

Cuckoo picks up right where Swallow leaves off - Raven/Brodie is without his guardian Art and now, his brother Grant. With the loss of Grant, the future of CI is unknown as the company cannot locate Grant's long lost brother. Brodie makes sure the company keeps moving for the time being by bringing in an executive to run the place -- a woman named Mischa Corvi.

While Brodie makes plans to permanently move Zara into the Manor, she's caught off guard when she finds out hat not only is Mischa, code name Cuckoo, Brodie's ex-girlfriend, but she's also the reason that Caine and Brodie have such hatred for each other. Making matters worse, Brodie moved her into Zara's apartment! What a jerk!

UGH - of course, Brodie has his own agenda and seems to know what he's doing. Old enemies pop up again, and everyone is out to get Game Time for their own gain. One member in particular, tempts Zara with not only cash for the product, but secrets about Brodie and Grant's parents death.

Zara takes a larger role in the Kindred, and despite her feelings of inadequacy due to a lack of a special skill set like the other members, she's the one that really saves the day. Risking her life for the sake of others, she finds out Mischa's true motives, her plans for Game Time, and just how valuable she is to Brodie and the Kindred.

This is an exciting series, and honestly, needs to be read in order. This is the third in the installment, and without reading the first two, you could get the storyline and read as a stand alone, but why miss out on the two prior books with all the twists and turns that keep you reading?

With Brodie being the last of his family, he stands to inherit his family's company. Something he has never wanted anything to do with. So, he brings in his crazy ex to handle it.

I was expecting it to be a typical ex vs. current girlfriend story line. Full of misunderstandings and insecurities. Happily, it is not - for the most part. Yes, his ex is the stereotypical perfect European woman. Yes she is convinced she is going to come in and steal Raven back. Then it's all pretty anti-climatic where she is concerned.

Zara's insecurities, in general, are pretty annoying. Which is unfortunate because that's one of the strongest themes throughout this book.

Zara and Brodie do get their relationship ending so that story line can move on to another member of Kindred,
I also think my journey with this series is coming to an end. I was invested in the main plot, but it just seemed so dragged on already. I'm over it and don't really care you wants to end the world, who is the real mastermind behind trying to acquire Game Time, or what will happen to the family company. I might pick it up again one day. But...

I received an ARC for my honest review.

4.5 Stars

While I was frustrated at the end of Swallow because at that time, I couldn't find any mention of a 3rd book, Ms. Finn redeemed herself in this latest installment! I loved this whole series--it was well-written with complex, developed characters and a fascinating, unique storyline. There was a lot of deep, emotional angst which added great dimension (although sometimes I felt the h was a bit overly manic, emotional, self-absorbed and pushy, especially when she acted stupid by not following orders or letting "sleeping dogs lie" when it would have been best to do so). I loved the ending and really hope that we'll see future installments about the other Kindred members (does Swift get back with Kadie, what are all the big mysteries surrounding Zave, does Thad get more involved with the assignments and the biggest question of all...duh-duh-daaaaaah...is Grant really dead??). Ooh, the anticipation gives me tingles (lol). This is a series well worth reading. Great job, Ms. Finn!

Brilliant book!!!

Cuckoo, is an amazing read, it's the third book in the brilliant Kindred Series from Scarlett Finn, it has everything from secrets, lies, intrigue, murder and mystery to great characters, an excellent storyline, and hot sizzling sexy scenes. I just love Raven/Brodie, he's so moody and secretive, whereas Swallow/Zara, is sassy, beautiful and breaks the Kindred's rules more often than not. As this series progresses they fall deeper and deeper in love with each other which is enough to warm anyone's heart. I can't wait for the next book. I highly recommend this series!!!

Once again Scarlett does not disappoint. This was action packed with the right amount of steam and intensity. There are so many twists and turns in this installment. As the title says, Cuckoo....and man is that woman crazy. This story just keeps pulling you in. Zara continues to question herself and her worth. Your emotions will be all over the place in this one. You will go from anguish to hot to anger to hot to sad to happy and back around to start again.

Zara grew so much in this book, so did Raven. There are so many great scenes in this one that it's hard to just pick one.
