I recently read the third book in this series, Up for Everything, only to realise I needed to read the prior books. Not in the sense that the third book made no sense – it worked perfectly fine as a standalone novel – rather I was desperate to know more of the story. Each book in this series tells the story of a different friendship couple, allowing us to see how they reached their happily ever after, and after reading Sam’s story I wanted to find out what had happened with the other couples.

I’ll be honest by saying Up for Grabs had caught my attention a couple of times in the past. It’s one of those books I was never one hundred percent sure if I wanted to read. It sounded interesting, and yet I couldn’t quite decide if I wanted to jump in. After enjoying Up for Everything, the decision was made for me. At this point I forced my friend to let me borrow her Kindle, making the most of her Kindle Unlimited.

I enjoyed the story, as a whole, but it wasn’t quite a full four star rating. For me, it’s because I feel as though the story was lacking a little bit. Having read the third book first, I knew what was to come with this one. I knew there was a lot of drama to be had. Hell, the synopsis promises as much. However, upon reading it I felt as though the story didn’t quite live up to all the promise. It was such a unique premise, and yet most of the story reads like any other romantic novel. I wanted more drama focused around the selling her virginity aspect, instead this part of the story wasn’t introduced until we were beyond the fifty percent mark.

I’ll admit it’s a super cute little romance. It has everything you expect from such a novel. Your emotions are played with throughout, taking you on a true rollercoaster ride. I simply wanted the unique aspect of the story to play a larger part. I wanted more focus on the unique aspect of the story. I wanted it to be more than just your typical college romance, which is what it felt like for most of the book. I just feel cheated, is all. Yes, I enjoyed it, but I wasn’t as fulfilled as I had hoped to be.

Overall, it was a great read; it simply wasn’t quite the amazing read I had been hoping for.

My Rating: 3 Stars

Up For Grabs (the first installment in the Up For Grabs series) was an incredibly funny, light NA read!

The story follows Flannery Tate, a college student just trying to make a better life for herself, who happens to find love along the way!
When Flannery is grouped with a beautifully buff, chocolate-brown eyed wonder in one of her classes, she's intrigued. And so is he.
Cain Dorsey has had his eye on Flannery and now is making his move.

"Our lips fit together perfectly which made it easy to get lost in the moment. Even though lost was one thing we weren't."

Their adorable romance starts fairly quickly. Which is something I actually enjoy if it's believable, and this author did a great job with that!
I laughed at Flannery and Cain's witty replies and joking. They were both hilarious characters. And truthfully, Cain made me swoon! Hahaha! I loved how gentle and caring he was with Flannery. He seems like such a genuine guy, and you just want to get to know him more.
Also, the secondary characters, like Cain & Flannery's friends, brought so much to the story. I especially loved Adam (one of Flannery's best friends).

My problems with this book...
1. I did not agree with Flannery's solution for her scholarship problem.
2. The middle of the story seemed to lag a bit for me. The beginning and end of their story was fast paced though, which I kinda prefer.

Overall:

I did enjoy Up For Grabs! Cain was pretty amazing...loved him! And the epilogue was beautiful & fit the story! This book was a solid 3 stars for me. I'm excited to read the next book in this series, Up For Forever, which follows the story of Kendra, one of Flannery's best friends.

Funny, witty, sweet 5 stars

I had a block, did not know what I wanted to read after my last emotional one, so my bestie gal pal suggested Up For Grabs. See was totalllly freaking out after suggesting it, but babe seriously, so far you've scored a 100%. Yayness.

Flannery meets Cain in school, they are in the same study group and she slowly realizes that he's totally into her. Flannery has a few set of rules, she abides by them because her mom has made sure she knew these rules by heart. Mom has a pretty good reason for wanting her to follow the rules. I felt sad for mom but at the same time both these two women were incredibly brave and a role model. YES. I said it, why you ask. Well first of, anyone who's been through this and survived it well, deserves our applause. So hats off to Mom and to Flannery.

Things between her and Cain evolves into something serious, they spend a lot of time together, things heat up but they don't go the distance. As this would be the first time, Cain agrees that she should wait until it feels right. So they are about their merry way when 'lo and behold her scholarship is gone. Flannery totally flips out, I mean what's a girl to do, she loves Cain, she doesn't wanna move back home and leave the love of her life. So her best friend suggests why not sell her virginity. She thinks hard about it and decides to go ahead without tell Cain because it's just a technicality. And she needs the money to stay.

As with all secrets, when it comes out all hell breaks loose and so does it here. Cain loses his mind and things at campus is the lowest of lows. People are coming up to her and saying nasty things and calling her names. And making fun of her. The sad part is, she wants a better future and wants the man she's in love with to be with her and that's the main reason she's doing this. But people see what they want to see and say what they want to say and make someone's life a living hell.

Will Flannery Tate overcome all the ugliness and succeed in losing her V and win her boy back or will she lose it all. Cain made me fall in love with him with all his mature and awesomeness. Flannery and her inner monologue and penchant for smacking her close friends and Cain was totally adorable. I feel in love with the characters and loved each of them and was roooting for our girl to get her guy. The epilogue was sooooooooo freaking awesome that I totally lost my cool and wept a little. So I leave you guys with a witty, funny, sweet 5 gold stars for Up For Grabs.

4 solid true love stars!

*I received this book in exchange for an honest review*

Omg! This book. The story was so sweet.

Super normal girl, Flannery, meets super normal guy, Cain, in college.
The writer did an incredible job by describing the way they fell in love along the story.

This is a normal story, about two too real people. The thing that kept me reading was that she is the one that sort of complicates their relationship and tries to make things go back to normal.

Flannery is described as a funny, cute petit girl with hilarious violent tendencies. She has a best friend -Kendra, second book- and one roommate.
Despite of that, it's visible how she gets along with male friends and I identified myself with that. So I really loved this girl.

What to say about Cain... He's such a sweet college boy. He LOVES her big time! And we love him for that.
We are allowed to make a glimpse into his family in this book. Which I adore.

It was really hard for me to read the first part of this book. Ok, the first 60%. Because, honestly, I was reading deep smut sh*t and this one seemed too...vanilla.
BUT I really enjoyed it and that's why I recommend it. Reading this book was like a balm for my soul.

Can't wait to start the second one of this series!

Love!

This book is writing in Flannery's POV, 1st person. HEA. NA.
Super sweet Epilogue.

It's been a while since I became so engrossed in a book that I stayed up to finish it. This was definitely one of those books though!

First, Cain Dorsey is my new book boyfriend. Though I definitely never met any guy so patient and understanding when I was in college! But, I <3 him!

Our heroine, Flannery won my heart as well. She is so feisty; I enjoyed it!

Up for Grabs is lighthearted and funny. I really enjoyed the brotherly/sisterly relationship between Flannery and her friend Adam. That felt very true to college friendships to me. I like how her quickness to provide Adam with a kick to the shins led Cain to tell her she needed to work on her "anger issues."

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. And honestly, the best thing I can think to say about it is I wish I had more. Another story. More Cain and Flannery. More of Young-Nichols humor and sass. I recommend this book!

This is a great story with great characters. I was a little frustrated with Flannery and her solution to her scholarship problem. But it did help see Cain's maturity and understand his point of view. Listening to the banter and drama and characters made the story so much better. The narrator does a good job of bringing the stories to life. It would have been great to have a second narrator though too!

Could not stop reading this book!!!!

I have been an avid reader ever since I was young. One thing I am not, is a great story teller or writer, this author succeeds in Both of these areas!!!! Honestly, I started reading this book at 8:00 am and was finished before 11:00 am, I could not stop reading it!! I really felt that I needed to know what was going to happen to this amazing girl!!! I could picture myself and my friends being a part of this group of young adults, trying to grow up and prepare for the "real world" but still trying to be young and carefree. Unfortunately, we all end up learning that money is required for so many things in our daily lives and sometimes people take desperate measures just to survive. This story isn't just about a group of college kids expecting everything to be handed to them, it is so much more!! It's about innocence, young love, friendship, family, humility and even desperation. Once you meet Flannery, Cain, Kendra, Sam, Adam, Ava & Alex, you'll be hooked!!! At some points you will want to laugh with them, cry with them and maybe even kick
the crap out of a few of them at some points!!!!! If you're anything like me, as soon as you are done reading you will want to know even more about these characters. What happens after this.... Please tell me that there will be more written about these characters.

I fell in love...
* With this book.
* With Flannery and
* Definitely Cain!
Flannery is my hero. She's strong, sassy, funny, sarcastic and quirky.
Cain is very high up in book boyfriends for me now! If only we all met a man like him in college! So protective, sexy, thoughtful, sweet, kind and he's a giver. ;)
Up For Grabs is sweet read and there's some sexy in it.
It's light (but still sad at times) and funny. Oh, was it funny! I literally laughed out loud at times. I even copied sentences to share with friends because I thought it was so great. (They laughed out loud also, and both now have the book.)
I didn't want it to end...I enjoyed it that much. I loved all the characters and they were so relatable, I felt like they were my group of friends.
Up For Grabs was a wonderful surprise and I am so happy I had the pleasure of reading it. I will definitely be recommending it and looking forward to future work from Heather!

Well this book didn't go how I expected . Flannery is lovely a sweet girl next door type .
Far from home doing a scholarship .. money doesn't come easy fr her and her mum . No dad in the picture .
Cain wow I guessing a sweet lad with charm looks and money ( well dads money )
There's a relationship that grows and is so sweet .
Until that letter the letter that changes everything.
How much is your virginity worth can it keep you at your loves side or is this that betral you can't cope with .
The family love her and cain certainly does .
Can this be fixed or is it too late .

Up for Grabs was a fun, quick read with a great story line. The characters felt real, the dialog was funny. They harass each other like real friends.
Yes, Flannery decides to do something most people wouldn’t consider and poor Cain when he finds out. Yet, I still rooted for them from beginning to end and the end did not disappoint. Can't wait for the next book.

ahhh the fuzziness of young love (and thankfully not instalove that seems to be so prevalent these days).

Here we have Flannery; who has been brought up by a single mom has worked really hard to secure her scholarship so that her mom doesn't have to worry about her. So much so that, she is an innocent when it comes to relationships. Then she runs into Cain - who has been living a cushy life - where they go from project mates to a slow build up of attraction. I love the small moments between them as you see them slowly fall in love (as slow as it can be for 2 college students with hormones I guess).

This almost perfect world for the two of them suddenly faces a huge issue when Flannery's scholarship is taken away. She panics and does something really stupid yet creative - selling off her virginity to pay for her school fees. And she doesn't tell Cain. Is that not a perfect recipe for disaster?

Well, it's great to see that women screw up too. We aren't perfect. Been reading to many books that the men mess up and they are the ones trying to win back the heart of the women. So I did enjoy this turn of events and how Flannery deals with the fallout of her plan to pay for her school fees.

A lighthearted read that will make you smile and also want to smack your head on the wall coz it was such a stupid thing for Flannery to keep it from Cain. But Flannery's simple and straightforward attitude does make one wish for simpler days sometimes.

I received a digital copy of this book under New Adult Book Club in RIRI.

“I’m Flannery Tate, resident strumpet and overall painted woman.”

I got excited when I read the synopsis. I like Flannery's humor. She has a quick wit and I definitely like her personality. What I don't like about her is her being irrational at some point.

I don't know if it just me but the story was very slow but not until maybe after Chapter 17 that it became exciting. I somewhat dragged myself to finish this because I can't find the first chapters exciting.

I don't understand why Flannery can't just accept any help from her mother? Why can't she even look for a job that can help her pay for her tuition fees and dormitory rent? And she's considering of selling her virginity for twenty thousand? That's absorbed! She and Kendra even thought that that's "the solution"? I can't understand her reasoning. Certainly there are other ways to support her financially.

Cain was a sweet guy. He's head-over-heels in love with Flannery. I like how he come up with the idea of giving Flannery other options.

Overall, I'm giving this 2.5 stars. I did only enjoy this book when the problem showed up.

Smart, funny, sweet. These are the best words I can think of to describe this story. Flannery is so witty and sassy, even if she does have a bit of a problem with physical aggression. And Cain is a complete and total sweetheart. The way he tries to look after her is swoon-worthy. Their inner circle of friends have such big personalities, they sometimes try to take over the book. A lot of detail and attention go into building their "world" and showing the relationships between Flannery and Cain and all their friends. I really appreciate that it takes time for these two to fall in love. It makes the fall-out from Flannery's financial solution feel very realistic because they'd both invested a lot of time in each other. However, having read the blurb about the book I found I wanted to get to the part the blurb describes faster than the book gets there. Having started at the wrong end of this series, and already read Sam's book, I can't wait to read about Kendra and Adam.

Heather Young Nichols has a way of finding that special niche between characters. She does this with Flannery and Cain. Cain is a popular soccer player, and can have any girl he wants. Flannery is ordinary, but she catches his eye. The two are passionate, but Flannery is inexperienced. When she finds out her scholarship is in jeopardy, the one thing she can sell to stay in school is the one thing that is meant for Cain. Will these two find a way to work through their issues? While not the way I would choose to stay in school, I could feel the desperation Flannery had. She had goals, knew what she wanted to be, and was desperate to get there. Cain is the most understanding man with a fabulous family. Parts were not quite believable, but I enjoyed the chemistry and dynamics of the story.

Lacey Gilleran brings a new voice to my ears, and she perfectly fits the new adult trope. Easy to listen to, just the right amount of angst and a good pace, she gave me an enjoyable listen.

Flannery ruins a good thing

So my problem with this one is the heroine, Flannery.

Spoilers ahead...
On what planet would a smart person, who happens to be in a monogamous relationship think she could sale her virginity to the highest bidder and 1. Her boyfriend not find out or be okay with it if he did, 2. Everyone not find out about it, 3. Not consider that banks or wealthy friends (or boyfriends) might be a more reasonable (sensible) place to start since they might loan you the money, or 4. Get a job and work out an installment plan (I grew up broke and know for a fact that this is an option if you work with the University. So yeah, I think she's not very smart after all, and stupid heroines quickly make me reach by boiling point.

I loved the fun, witty, playful relationship with Flannery and her best bud, Adam. I loved the way her relationship with Cain grew from a flirty friendship to something strong and withstanding. It was hard to swallow her keeping the auction information from Cain. How could she not think he wouldn’t have a HUGE problem with it!! I’m glad their HEA took a lot of time and wasn’t something that was brushed under the rug and forgotten about quickly. That kind of pain and betrayal would be hard to get over.

This was my first read by Heather Young-Nichols and I am looking forward to Kendra and Adam’s book!

A terrific story with lots of wonderful quips and comebacks. I love word play humor. Knowing about the conflict right away lent a edge to the story imagining what kind of reception it would get. The loyalty and strong group of friends was just what everyone yearns for. I hope we get to see more of their stories.

Lacey Gilleran did a good job bringing the story to life. The were a few stumbles and blips but nothing overly serious.

I recieved a free Audible copy of this story, at my request, in exchange for a honest review.

Review & Freebie from New Adult Book Club:

Quickly reading the synopsis of the book, I was not really into the book. It seemed like it was a bland and easy story. And it was BUT the way the author pulled you in and made you fall in love with the characters was worth the quick read :)

I loved the relationship between Cain and Flannery. She really needed and wanted the education but also wanted the relationship with Cain to work out.

There are so many things that I liked about this book: the relationship that developed slowly between Flannery and Cain, all of the friendships in this story, the witty banter, Flannery's strength, and Cain's patience and devotion. This was a quick, fast-paced read that I enjoyed but, my goodness, I just kept getting side-tracked by all of the typos! A good editor and a little more development and this could have easily been a 5* read.

Surprisingly good read

I was surprised at how intriguing this book turned out to be. NA/YA books can sometimes be a chore to read, but this one wasn't.

Even though everything in the end tied up a little too neatly, I couldn't find myself hating the way things turned out for Flannery and Cain.

Definitely recommend this book for lovers of angsty, dramatic NA/YA romances.

Up For Grabs is the first book in this new adult contemporary romance Up For Grabs series as each book follows a different college couple in the series. Supporting character's crossover from each book.

Flannery Tate's character is compelling, sassy, witty, sarcastic, sagacious and beautiful inside and out. Cain Dorsey is a fabulous book boyfriend. His character is so sweet, kind & thoughtful, charming, sexy as hades, and the perfect book boyfriend.
Up For Grabs is a sweet & sexy witty read that is fabulous. Absolutely love this novel and series. The synopsis caught my eye. The narrative drew me in & kept me captivated until the end. Supporting character's are a mix of fun loving characters that accentuate the narrative. I love this author's writing style as it fits into the genre perfectly. A perfect blend of swoon worthy moments and well detailed building their "world " and relationships with their friends and families. Absolutely highly recommend reading this novel and series as it's sensational.

Good book

This book was very good and gives you something to think about. Should you really judge someone if you have not walked in that person's shoes? The characters are very relatable and easy to get to know. I'd recommend this book to young adults that's who this book is geared at really.
