In this first book of the De Danann series, two children are taken back in time to become reluctant participants in a flight from the isle of De Dannan. They join a group of young teens in an attempt to rescue the Sacred Book of Windlord from the island's vicious and powerful emperor, Balor, and his reptilian warriors.

This is the first of three tales: Windlord, Earthlord and Firelord.
A brother and sister whose parents are preoccupied archaeologists discover that they can travel back in time to the Celtic past. They meet good and bad intent among the characters and luckily for them, manage to befriend the Windlord who can summon the air.
This is a great fun, fast-paced adventure and the author has since written many more Celtic fantasies. While this is a young adult book, adult fantasy fans could easily enjoy it too.
There really is nothing like this series for YA. Proud to say being based on Irish Mythology and not a superficial dose of leprechauns. The world and denizens can stand toe to toe with any popular epic fantasy in terms of originality. A major pity the fourth book of the series was never completed
Windlord is a fun Young Adult fantasy story based around Ireland and a the mythical land of De Denann. It's a short book but is full of the usual fantasy imagination and is a nice easy read. I'll definitely check out the other entries in the series.
I read this about 16 years ago, and it blew my mind. it'd be great to find a copy somewhere, although I'd be worried about ruining the childhood magic...
