Bethany Warner is graduating from high school and is looking forward to college and the gymnastics team with few regrets, except for maybe Tommy - her possessive ex-boyfriend. But as the last party of high school turns into a dangerous and unforgettable nightmare, she meets Connor Clay, a punk and a musician with a reputation for violence.
Clay is a novella that retells that first chance meeting in Ache, from Bethany's point of view.

Full disclosure - I got to pre-read this book and I'm so glad I did. Clay is a novella, and part of P.J. Post's Punk series, told from Bethany's point of view. Set in the early 1980s, we follow her for one raw, edgy night when she turns from a girl into a woman. Parental expectations, teenage parties, the wrong boy and a run-in with the police are all ingredients to the perfect night gone wrong for Bethany.
Of course, Connor is there too, and delicious as ever. I loved him in Ache, and he still comes across perfectly in Clay, too.
Like Ache, there's a whole brat-pack early 80s film vibe going on. I can't help but picture a bit of Molly Ringwald when I'm reading Bethany's thoughts.
This is a fun, enjoyable yet thoughtful book. I can't wait to read more in the series.
