Noem is the pride’s nurse. He loves what he does, even though he’d seen far too many wounded since the hunters decided they had a problem with the pride. Still, it’s better than what his future would have been back with his tribe, and he’s as happy as he can be.
Kay has known about shifters and the tribe since Troy, his best friend, gave birth to a son. He moved to Whitedell to be close to Troy and the baby, but he’s still wary about shifters, and he doesn’t have a good opinion of them. If it were up to him, he’d stay as far away as he could, but it would mean losing Troy again, and he’s not ready for that.
Noem didn't expect to meet his mate in the mansion’s kitchen, but then he also didn't expect Kay to tell him to his face that he doesn’t like shifters and paranormal creatures. After talking, they agree to try to date, but the uploading of a video showing a man shifting into a wolf might make Noem’s entire world crumble. Will Noem and Kay be able to get over it and stay together? And if they do, what will happen with the hunters still lurking?
Catherine is the creator of several series, most of them paranormal, including the Whitedell Pride Series and the Gillham Pack Series. While she graduated in translation, she decided to go the writer’s way because it was more fun to create her own stories and characters. She’s been living in Italy for more than twenty years, but she’s a daughter of the North—Belgium to be precise—and she misses it so much that she’s already planning to move back. She loves pizza—probably too much —her pets, and of course, books. She sneaks some reading time in her schedule every time she has five minutes free from writing, demands from her various pets and son, and lastly, housework.
This was book 24 in the "Whitedell Pride" series. Noem is a Nix who is also a nurse he loves his job but he is lonely while in the kitchen his mate walks in. Kay first came to the mansion when Troy went into labor and laid an egg and had Aaron he moved to Whitedell to be close to Troy and Aaron he has problems with shifters. I had problems with kay he was rude and jealous he felt that Emery took Troy away from him since he was the only family that he had and he was rude to Noem. I also didn't like Nysys in this book and I was glad that Nicky put mayo in his donut Nysys needs to learn to keep his mouth shut sometimes. After talking to Troy Kay begins to see things differently and after learning that he is Noem's mate he agrees to trying dating. Kay who is a police detective learns that his partner is married to a elk shifter and lives with them in a town outside of Whitedell. When the hunter group attacks the elk group and then someone puts a video online of Kam turning into a wolf. This was an ok story but I wanted to know more about the hunters and what was going to happen now that people knew about shifters. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next story in this series.

Total Score: 5/5
Summary: Noem has had a difficult life dealing with his father’s expectations until he left. The best thing that ever happened was the day he became a member of the Whitedell pack using his healing abilities as the pack nurse. Kay thought he lost his best friend Troy the day he disappeared until he learned Troy was living in the Whitedell pack, but things would never be the same. Troy has difficulties dealing with the changes in Troy and was distrustful of shifters. Kay’s difficulties came to a head when Noem realized that Kay was his mate. Noem may be a fae, but Kay’s feelings about shifters doesn’t bode well for their future.
It is always sad the way some people have no reason to dislike individuals and are unwilling to accept them. At first Kay’s mistrust of all shifters seemed unreasonable, but his willingness to look beyond his initial feelings showed he can change. Noem’s life hasn’t been easy, but he never gave up fighting for what he wanted. His determination to give Kay a chance may be just what Kay needs. This was a wonderful edition to this incredible series.
I like that unlike most of these new-couple-a-month shifter books, this has strong and intelligent women. They’re cops and betas who can lead their people in battle, etc. I want all my MC and their partners to be male but not everyone in the book.
I swear I’ve read this before but I’m not positive as some things sound familiar, some not. It could just be that these books are all very similar. Regardless, I enjoyed it. I did think the aftermath of what happened with the plot was ridiculous and not at all how it would turn out but this is fiction and a paranormal romance so things always have to turn out at least somewhat okay in the end, right?
I so would have wanted a big romance for Noem. This was bland and nothing got resolved relating to Kay’s work situation. Kay was an ass and he didn’t fit Noem at all.
Noem is the story of the ever present in a crisis nurse. When he runs into his mate one day when he least expected it. (While getting some orange juice in the kitchen) he makes a fool of himself in front of his mate Kay. Kay makes a remark that shows his distrust for shifters which gives Noem a bad first impression. This starts the search of what Kay really feels about the shifter world and why. And possibly who might already have connections he didn't know of. This is just the beginning of love and self discovery.
I really liked reading about Noem, and was so glad he got his own story!
Also, I love what happened with the video that was uploaded and people now knowing about shifters. Should be interesting to see what happens in the next series and over in Gillham!
