Curvy girl Pepper is accustomed to flying under everyone’s radar. Being a big girl hasn’t led to many dates or exciting adventures. All of that was about to change.

Through the small-town rumor mill, Pepper learns her old teenage crush just moved back to town. Jason was the star quarterback, prom king, and also Pepper’s neighbor from across the street.

One day he sees Pepper out mowing the lawn and makes her an offer of no-strings attached, no-holds barred sex that has the potential to benefit them both.

Nothing quite turns out the way either of them thought it would.

Click to look inside and find out what happens when the simple act of mowing the lawn turns into so much more…

WARNING: This story contains a plentiful amount of graphic sex scenes (over EIGHT of them…yes, I counted…including ones involving Barbeque Sauce, Pirates, Ice Cubes, and Handcuffs). They are all M/F and absolutely consensual. If you’re looking for a sick, twisted, dark tale – please go elsewhere, you will NOT find it here. All my stories come with a guarantee that you will crack a smile, find a happily-ever-after ending, and never have to deal with an annoying cliffhanger. There’s also no cheating, no love triangles, no unicorns, and no murder.

I would first and foremost like to thank everyone for taking the time to give my stories a chance. My goal is to take you out of your world, and all the stresses that go along with everyday life, and bring you into my world of romance and fantasy. I have a special weakness for hot alpha males and the feisty heroines who love them. Above all else, I hope you get a laugh out of my books. I aim to incorporate as much comedy into my romance as is humanly possible.
My professional biography is as follows (I’m not sure why it’s in the third person, evidently that’s the rule): Grace is happiest when reading, eating Portillos hot dogs, and patiently waiting for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.

If I had to describe this book to you, it would be as follows:

BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

This book made me laugh so hard that no sound came out. I just sat there clapping like a retarded seal. I lost count of the amount of times I dropped my kindle because I was caught in a fit of laughter. Just thinking about some of the ridiculousness that transpired in this book has tears running down my leg. That’s a thing right?

Current status: pissing myself.

This book answers the question: What happens when you’re a slightly odd, insecure girl with curves and your high school crush asks you for no-strings sex? Well, if you’re Pepper you think about unicorns and go for it! And then you write about it so the rest of us can enjoy it with you. What followed was a comedy of errors between a guy you won’t be sure you even like and a girl who is too honest and has a penchant for saying whatever pops into her beautiful little skull.

Pepper is the kind of character you wish you knew in real life. She’s shy and insecure and yet as the story progresses the girl finds her spine and manages to stand up for herself. Jason, well I already stated that you’re won’t be sure if you like him or not. He’s had a bit of a rough time recently, and while Pepper asks some pretty poignant questions about herself and their relationship, Jason seems to be stuck in self-pity mode.

However, as you get sucked in further and further by his dirty mouth and dominant ways, you get to see his warm and squishy centre and let’s just say, the man redeems himself. The sexy times between these two were simultaneously hilarious and hot as all get out. Trust me, their interactions won’t leave you unaffected; you will be panting, laughing or cringing in mortification.

All in all this was such a refreshing, almost tongue-in-cheek look at relationships, sex and second chances. Through all the hilarity there is also a sweet and heartfelt little romance at play and this will leave with you a giant, goofy smile on your face.

I expected a hilarious romp with an asshole hero and lots of hot sexy times. While some parts were mildly amusing and sexy, and Jason was occasionally an asshole, it was mostly an awkward, sweet story about a bitter man getting over his cheating wife and an insecure woman accepting herself.

I enjoyed this one, I just didn't love it.

Safety- this is full of his bitter rantings about his wife and several times he recalls past sexual experiences. She has slept with one man who was crap in bed and had a small dick. Condoms were used.

Have to be honest I did not really enjoy this as much as the other books i have read by this author. I much preferred the heroes in the other books I have read. The hero here, was a bit much, a bit too bitter, a bit too mean at times and a bit too obsessed with his apparently oversized dick!

However, I did enjoy it, but it just really had to be read with a huge pinch of salt. The way they decide to start on a relationship, the way they talk to each other, Jason being a bit of a huge man child, and the heroine just taking it really.

In all I have enjoyed my previous reads by this author so much more (maybe I just prefer grumpy stern heroes as opposed to bitter heroes), and while I did enjoy this it read a bit different to her previous work for me.

All in an enjoyable 3.5 stars for a book that does not take itself at all seriously, and neither should we as the reader, as that is not what it is. But for me, at times it verged a bit too close to the over the top.

Wasn't as funny

This book and author was recommended by one of my Goodreads groups. The author was spotted to be good and her books funny. I was hoping that maybe this was one of her earlier books, but I checked the publication date and it just came out this month so that is a bit disappointing.

For my kindle version the fonts are I blue. I'm know she why, but initially this was distracting to read, like I am reading a book not yet ready to be published or an ARC. Also, it wasn't as funny as I expected given the reviews I read. And finally, the characters were kind of a mess and a little weak. He was a jackhole through most of the book seeming to want her then go for days not communicating. He was so wishy-washy. And she was so annoying with constantly putting herself down. So it is probably best that they did end up together because no one else would have them.

'Mowed' by Grace Risata is the story of Pepper and Jason.
Pepper has just broke up about six months ago from her first real boyfriend. His parting words were that she should loose weight. So her already low Self-esteem because of her weight. When she goes to mow her mom's lawn her old crush from High School is staying at his parents house across the street from her mom. Jason has gone through a broken marriage and isn't ready for any commitment but does want to start feeling worth something again. So he approaches Pepper to do a non committed sex to help them both. Will this work or will they end up with real feelings?

Frankly, the cover, the premise, and heroine were the only good things about this book. I was fully expecting some fun, sexy, and lightweight escapism. Instead we get a hero who's a complete arse, a cast of boring stereotypical characters, a narrative that flips between somewhat engaging and a bad porn script, and a storyline that had so much potential but fails on all levels.

Such a brilliantly entertaining, funny read! Grace Risata had me laughing out loud with our curvy heroine Pepper. I loved the fact that the banter between the delicious Jason and Pepper switched so easily between comical, to sexy, to sometimes hurtful so seamlessly. Pepper was a real woman with real issues, most of which I think a lot of people would be able to identify with. I highly recommend this book if you like some laughs mixed with romance and a whole heap of sexiness!

4.25 stars - I’ve read a couple of Grace’s books now, and enjoy her easy to read writing style and sense of humour. Plus sized Pepper has had insecurities about her body her whole life, not helped by the parting shot thrown at her by her steady boyfriend when he dumped her and moved away. So when her old high school crush Jason spots her mowing her mother’s lawn and tells her he wants to have no strings sex with her, she’s rightly confused and sceptical. With hot sex scenes and some witty banter, this was a read that I really enjoyed. While there are times that Jason is a jerk to Pepper, it was easy to read between the lines that he was confused and trying to come to terms with his own insecurities after his wife screwed him over with their neighbour. Great to read a plus sized heroine who makes no apologies for her love of food, but it still written as a sexy and desirable woman. A quick and entertaining read and I know that I’ll be back to read more of Risata’s work.

OMG. This was book was FABULOUS!

Grace Risata is amazing at blending humour and sexy times together effortlessly. There was everything I look for in an erotic novel; a curvy girl with an brilliant personality, a hero that feels real (even if I did want to smack him at times), some very inventive *ahem* moments, and a load of fun side characters. It was lighthearted, but serious/emotional when it needed to be, and most importantly very, very sexy.
I had a big smile of my face from start to finish, and was sad when the story ended. This book is going on my re-read shelf for sure.
I can't wait to see what this amazing author has in store next!

What a great love story with a mix of humor that had me laughing throughout.

Pepper has been ridiculed and made fun of all of her life because of her size. Her secret high school crush, Jason, who was the star athlete in high school, moves back to their hometown after a nasty divorce and is forced to live in his parent’s basement. Jason sees Pepper mowing her mother’s lawn and makes an indecent proposal to her of no-strings attached sex. How can she refuse, right? Wild, crazy sex sessions ensue beyond Pepper’s dreams.

However, this story is not just about the sex. There is actually a story being told by the author that is inspirational and tugs at your heart strings. Throughout their encounters, Pepper begins to build her self-confidence. Jason brings out the wild and sexy side of her. She’s not the only one that is changing during their time together though. Jason, with his hard and unbreakable rule of not getting emotionally involved with Pepper, also goes through his own conversion. He can’t help but to fall for her himself.

I really loved this story because it’s about a real woman with curves and insecurities like so many of us. It’s about a once popular jock who in spite of seemingly having it all is also plagued with insecurities especially after leaving high school and not being the popular jock anymore. And especially after the number his ex-wife pulled on him, he’s not feeling especially secure about himself. So although it seemed like he was “training” her, they were transforming each other.

Watching Pepper transform into a secure, self-confident woman who finally stands up for herself was awesome. The confrontation with her ex, Gordon, the fight with Jason towards the end of the story were epic. I loved her spunk. I loved the way she called Jason out on his BS and didn’t just forgive him and left him to grovel.

The humor in this book is great. The things that went through Pepper’s head were hilarious. It was a perfect blend of humor, turmoil, and a little angst. The ending was perfect and beautiful. It left me smiling but at the same time I didn’t want it to end.

Mowed review

I'm really bummed. I wrote this review the other day but it never saved.

If you are anything like me, you were about to give up on this book. There were so many times I wanted to punch Jason for the way he treated pepper and I wanted to punch pepper for the way she just ran to this butt face guy. But something kept telling me to keep reading so I did.

AND IT WAS Glorious!! Pepper did what I want more women to do in books like this. She stood up for her self. An not it wasn't one of those, I'm gonna kinda stand up for myself. No pepper really stood up for herself.

I loved it. It enough books give the girl a backbone and yes it did take her a while to find it but when she did she was a force to be reckoned with.

Now for Jason... 90% of the book I wanted to ring his neck... who treats people the way he treated pepper (jalapeño- cuties thing I read in the book)? Just because he was burned did not mean he could treat her like crap... which he did. But when she stood up for herself, he took it like a man. He didn't blame her and for that I had to give him some props. So many stories turn it around when the girl gets a pair and they make her feel like it was her fault. He owned his mistakes and that makes him okay in my book.

Don't give up on this book. If you're anything like me, you want to. Trust me. But the end is so worth it. I promise!

NOW BOTH REVIEWS ARE HERE
YES, PEPPER! Okay I'm not going to lie. I almost gave up on this book. I was so angry with our shitty pepper was being treated and how Jason treated her. I hated that she never stood up for herself.

But let me tell you something. When she finally did stand up
For her self I HAVE NEVER been more happy than I was at that moment. She freaking rocked it. I mean it, if your like me and about ready to give up on this book. DON'T. She comes back in such a glory way that you can't help but change your mind and LOVE the book. I freaking hate when a girl just gives in and lets someone treat her like crap. That didn't happen here. Three cheers for Pepper (jalapeño) still love that name.

Pepper is your everyday curvy girl, Jason is your fantasy guy. Mowed is a story about what happens when the two get together.
Pepper lacks confidence in herself and has settled for less than she deserves. She thinks that what Jason has to offer is ok. Through the course of their relationship. Jason gives her confidence and she learns that she deserves more. Pepper has become a newer stronger version of herself and becomes strong enough to stand up for herself, even against Jason.

This is a great read and I enjoyed Pepper's awakening. Grace has done it again and I can't wait to read her next offering

Let me start out by saying that I received this ARC in return for my honest review…..NO lies Grace, no lies ;). Also please be forewarned that I may sound a bit like a child with A.D.D when you read it but oh well, just be glad you are reading it and not hearing me verbally tell you my review….. That would be total torture.

Sometime living in a small town can have its advantages but for Pepper (no last name given,…real funny Grace) it sucks. Her only reason for staying after high school was because of her mother, a potential job of her dreams and… well…nothing else. You see Pepper is more of what we would call a “Wallflower”. She was the curvy, “big boned”, wallflower that everyone always said would find the right man for her in due time but at 27 when would it be her time.

“"I would love to find a man willing to try new things and explore my fantasies. One who understands that “man on top” is not the only way to have sex. Hell, I would just like to have a man, period. My last one didn’t work out so well.”"

But just like a small town, the rumor mill starts running when Jason Fitzgerald moves back in town. Jason was the perfect man in Pepper’s eyes. He invaded her nightly fantasies all throughout her high school and even every now and then he still appears. But that was then and this was now, she was the last person on earth he would even be with. Better to just live in her fantasy world.

Coming back home sometimes sucks, especially when you are getting over a divorce. Well it’s not like you actually loved the girl anyways but when you catch your gold-digging wife hooking up with your neighbor what else is there to do. Where else was Jason to go? Well it looks like his parents basement is the only place there is to go. …However the last thing he needed was any distractions. So when he sees the curvy Pepper cutting her mother’s lawn, he sees a perfect opportunity to not only scratch an itch but also a way to get his mojo back. But when the head, heart and his throbbing man member wants are three different things…

Both Jason and Pepper enter a “friends with benefits” arrangement that seems to benefit them both but when Jason realizes just how inexperienced Pepper is, he makes it his mission to teach her a thing or two.

“"You probably don’t want a blow job from me anyway. It didn’t end well”…….” I got hungry and ate the cucumber.”"

With lessons from self-confidence to sexual positions, Pepper is at Jason’s beck and call. She somehow can’t believe this is actually happening. Jason Fitzgerald is not only paying attention to her but actually is lapping up how “sexy” she is. Even though she knows that this won’t last forever, Pepper soon starts to fall for him and at some moments she thinks Jason actually cares for her as well. But just like every fantasy, it all ends when Jason freaks out and goes days without talking to her or just blurts out mean things in public. Can these two get over their own issues and see that they are perfect for each other? Will Jason leave once his divorce goes through and he gets his fill of Pepper? Will Pepper ever stand up for herself and not let everyone walk all over her?

Now to my actually review: I never wanted to “Throat-Punch” a leading man so much in my life. Jason would say the sweetest things at times to Pepper (“"Your name is Pepper and you’re hot. Therefore… Jalapeno"...”…when talking about what he has her listed in his phone as) but then he would pull a jerk move by casually telling her it’s late and she needs to leave. How can you screw a person into next week, open them up to a whole new world full of ice torture, fuzzy handcuffs and pirate sex and then just kick them out? You see a throat punch would totally have his name on it….. Please rest assure that Jason does reedmen himself in the book. He totally wins brownie points while taking up for Pepper at the Dairy Queen, showing up at the bar for girls night, climbing through her window and in his final proclamation of love. THANK GOD HE TURNED OUT TO BE A PIRATE WITH A SHINNY EYE PATCH……. No knights on white horses here.

Pepper is your typical "big boned" girl. Someone who has always been told that she will find someone but knowing deep down that settling is what she will more than likely do when it comes to a partner. Her self confidence is shot to Hell, thanks to her co-worker, family members and her ex. So when her sexy crush offers up a arrangement, why would she not be weary. Lord knows she didn't want to be the town fool. I absolutely loved how at times Pepper had loose lips and would blurt out the most random things. And again with Grace Risasts'a writing, the character's inner monologue is hilarious:

"I come up with one spontaneous good idea, ONE TIME IN MY ENTIRE LIFE, and now he wanted a repeat performance. This is why I tried to be as mediocre as possible...people expected less from you"

I can't give this book 5 stars......4.9999999 is just about all I can give. Here is the reason why:

PEPPER HAS NO LAST NAME!!!!!!! I am a weirdo when it comes to character details and that just about drove me crazy. Jason has a last name but I am guessing Pepper is someone like Cher or Elton John....She doesn't need a last name!!!! DAMN YOU GRACE!!! HAHAHAHA

Here are my side notes (see this is where I get all A.D.D. on you)

-I think the author has a food fetish.....in every book she has steamy sex scenes revolving around food....Doritos, watermelon and now BBQ sauce. What's next? Maybe chocolate pudding....yep I never read about that in a sex scene. :) This BBW would love to read about that, forget whip cream or chocolate syrup. Give us unconventional foods!!!!!

-Who thought lawn work could be so sexy? Not me, I sweat to much and the last thing I would want would be someone ripping my cloths off and wanting sex. Nope! I want AC and lots of it. The only thing I kept thinking throughout the whole scene was body odor, but maybe that is just me and my weird self. To each their own.

-I wanted to punch Pepper's cousin Venice. She was truly a wicked step-sister in the way she treated Pepper, but I guess every story has to have a family villain. And her friend Coco, LOVED her and the contents of her purse were comical.

-Also I would have like at least one chapter told in Jason's POV, just to hear his inner thoughts on Pepper.

-The last line in the epilogue was great. It made me think that maybe Grace, is this YOUR story?

Well thanks for reading my review and please note that any misspelled words or run-on sentences are not my fault. I totally place the blame on my computer and not on me. Hell I am a photographer not a writer so just give me a break. HAHAHA

I don't normally read books marketed as Erotica. I am not really into BDSM or sex scene after sex scene with no story in between. Something made me pick up Mowed and I am glad I did because I loved it!!!
I agree with the main character, " A good book should transport you from your everyday life." I also think a really good book will have you reading way past your bedtime because you can't put it down. A really good book will have you laughing so hard you wake up your husband because you are reading late into the night. I have to say Mowed was all things and more. I now wish Pepper existed in real life because I want to be her best friend. She cracked me up. I enjoyed every minute I escaped into her life.
I actually enjoyed how real this story felt. It was a story about a shy curvy woman getting that sexy dream every teenage girl dreams about, a no holds bar sexual awakening with the hottest guy she went to high school with. Pepper was the overweight nerd and Jason was the popular guy. Fifteen years later he still looks as good as ever plus added bonus he has really big you know what and is up for trying out anything. Pepper can't say no so she embarks on a wild ride of her life. I have to say for an erotic novel it felt so real. It was very sexy and explicit. But it
was also honest, touching and very hilarious. I loved loved loved Pepper's reactions to some of games they played. When Jason says he going "punish" her then details a spanking scenario, Pepper is like um no this dude is "fifty shades of crazy" I could not stop laughing. The things in erotic novels are hot but sometimes not realistic for everyday people. Pepper is such an everyday heroine and I loved her honest reactions. I highly recommend this book that I picked up on whim. It definitely surprised me with how much I ended up loving it.

As my first read by this author, I can’t compare with her previous stories.
But I loved this book, Pepper and her insecurities and even Jason and his bitterness.
Pepper suffered all her life of being a The too curvy girl, so much she can’t imagine anything good arriving to her, accepting what comes with it, people sees her as their doormat. So when her high school crush proposes her no-strings attached sex encounters, she first thinks he might have a stroke, so when he repeats his offer, she is unable to say no to this yummy piece of a man even if his rules go most against the shy girl she is.
Jason plays hot and cold with Pepper, he acts sometime like a perfect douchebag but at the same time, he helps her to understand she deserves so much better than she ever dreamed, he helps her in his own way to stand up for herself and refuse other judgement based on her odalisque body.
For one time, I liked that the hero even with his good look was not the usual successful one, he failed his marriage and more, which changed him in a resentful man who will need someone like Pepper to take out his head of his bottom.
The stronger in this relationship is Pepper, while failure made Jason a bitter man, Pepper stays kind and sweet.
I was good to see him grovel to win her back, he had to redeem himself for his bad behavior.
My only complain was to see Pepper so broken after their breakup, I would have liked to see her too trying to move a little.
What ever a very good story which made me smile, laugh, be sad and feel so happy once I closed it.
I read it via KU, but bought it immediately after.

Who would have ever thought mowing the lawn would be such a turn on? Or being offered unlimited sex with your hot AF HS crush would make you laugh? Or practicing OS with a cucumber would result in a nice salad? These answers and so much more are awaiting you when you read this book. It has a BBW shy librarian who finds her inner seductress and beautiful self-confidence and a former HS superstar who rebuilds his damaged self-worth and finally grows a pair. This is a tale full of humor from chuckles to full belly laughs, phone sex which will make you laugh, hot (& I mean HOT) passion, a slow building love with some heartache before the best HEA, which may bring tears to your eyes! I highly recommend this as a must read! You won’t be sorry!!

I have decided I need to start mowing my own lawn after reading this fun and crazy read. Yes I laughed and I hooted and I fanned myself. . . . a lot. this book is just as it promises EROTIC so don't pick it up if you aren't ready. Now I may not want to try everything that I read (ok the thing with the bbq sauce?? Just no) but that doesn't mean I can enjoy reading it. This author is really a blast, funny, sexy and yet I will read more. As for her characters in this read, well they may not be my favorite but I did enjoy seeing Pepper get her confidence and stand strong. As for Jason well if he can get he head out of the wrong hole he just might find out it isn't the dress size that matters it's the heart.

Fun, fast, furious and LOADS and LOADS of sex!!!

I really enjoyed this book. I found myself relating to Pepper on so many different levels. Jason, her high-school crush moves back to town after a very bitter divorce from his cheating wife. He's living in his parent's basement when he sees Pepper mowing her mother's lawn...
It's the start of a crazy no strings attached shagathon!. He texts/calls her and tells her to be there in 5 minutes...hilarious! Her insecurities gradually diminish and he develops feelings for her too. But to get to that point, it's a really hilarious journey. Some of their antics had me rolling up with laughter. It's well written and worth reading.

A surprising delight

The first page had me a little concerned but the next had me laughing out loud. Silly, feisty, steamy, and still brought the feels, this book had it all. The character development was fun and charming. I totally connected with the main character, Pepper. I think she will appeal to anyone who has struggled with shyness and self-confidence. The Sexy Pirate was perfectly written. If you want fun with your sizzle, this book is a definite recommend.

I loved this book. Loved the mixture of romance and comedy. It gave the charaters a more realistic sense to them. It made me feel strongly for Pepper and Jason. Had me wanting more. Broke my heart when the book ended, I know it had to, but it has now become one of my top favorite books. Its a Must Read!
