"Pure escapism, and bloody good writing." -Lee Murray (Sir Julius Vogel Award Winner)

A serial killer stalks the streets of Anchorage. He is intelligent, well-educated and knows how to cover his tracks. His victims never survive to report his actions. He is ruthless and efficient...and he is doing everything he can to save his city from a far worse fate.

"Bones" is a short horror story that tells the tale of one man's descent into darkness, and explores how much evil we are willing to do in the name of a greater good.

This is a quick read that passed some time at work and I imagined being back in the old haunts of Anchorage. The setting reminded me of the further reaches on the outskirts of Anchorage with dirt roads, thick trees and brush, and the solitude from the hustle and the city proper. I look forward to whatever else Coates comes up with.

Unbelievably hard hitting

This new author is going to give Stephen King a run for his money. His command of horror maintains a biblical sense of doom.
