This book was a nice surprise. It started out like the typical sports book. Benji started out very cocky and a total man wh*re. I have a hard time liking the men who are so full of them selves and that was Benji to the T. When Benji travels to California for the Draft, he's out celebrating with his brother and cousin who are also pro-sports players when he literally runs into Ramona, completely drunk, causing her to spill her drink on herself.
This is when the story turned into so much more. Ramona and Benji are both looking for their friends and can't find them. They decide to stick together and start searching for them. This turns into a night of what would be an awesome first date, if it was a date. Breaking into a Put Put golf place to play, walking to the beach and pier, hitchhiking their way around LA. For the first time, Benji isn't out to just hit it and quit it. He's treating Ramona like a girl should be treated.
It's so comical to me when a guy falls for a girl and he doesn't know it. He suddenly not interested in other woman. He can't stop thinking of his "friend" and wants to spend all his free time with her. The same could be said for Ramona. She isn't like most girls. She knows Benji is overly confidant and she is trying to just enjoy hanging out with him. Kerrigan Grant created a fun story with Benji and Ramona and I truly enjoyed it!

This is a good read about two people who are complete opposites but they definitely attract each other. Picture it now-a professional footballer whose very cocky and an artist who is very spirited. They meet when Benji is in California with his brother and cousin and they are celebrating when he literally bumps into Ramona who is so drunk, for he spills her drink by accident on her- fireworks definitely happen. They end up losing the friends they were with and end up having to hang out with each other. Its so sweet, she is hanging out with him trying to do him a favor and he is thinking the same thing. I loved the comedy of errors that happened when they quit trying to impress and just were with each other. The illicit of Put Put golf place –yes, trust me, illicit things can and did happen here (smile). Their night of fun led to them having to make some decisions about what they were to each other down the road . Were they going to try to give themselves a real chance or were they two ships passing in the night? This was a good story that had good structure and overall good flow, just some minor bumps along the way. At times the H was too cocky and the h somewhat annoying but isn’t everyone at some point in their lives. It did come off as rushed but overall, this was a good sports romance.
My rating: 3.9 stars **** **I was given an ARC by Prism Heart Press in exchange for an honest review***
Benji, soccer star, Southern boy, but not at all grounded. Ramona, awkward, damaged, and brittle. Their odd relationship is best in development, with the author doing a good job portraying their befuddlement at each other. Not so well done- the anxiety and parental relationships (and lack thereof); and if Ramona is a woman of color, it was touched upon too lightly to be noticeable, which is a choice...but I ended up confused at the two, fleeting references I saw to skin tone or ethnicity that made me wonder, but never know. 3.5 stars.
Received an arc for an honest review from author I absolutely loved this book and the characters Benji is a soccer player who is also a player and Ramona is an artist who tries to avoid going out if she can help it They meet in a club when Benji accidently spills a drink over Ramona the attraction isn't but she does not trust easily so she decides to tyr and push him away I love how they work through there issues but make mistakes along the way another brilliant read from this author
What do you get when two complete opposites meet? You get a cocky soccer star, an awkward, sassy artist, attraction, humor, secrets, heartbreak, some steamy sex, a crazy adventure, a fantastic story-line, which all leads to a HEA.
An ARC of this book was provided in exchange for an honest review.
I wasn't really wild about this. I love sports romances and was excited to read one about soccer ( Kulti and Settling the Score are two of my fave sports books-both about soccer), but this one just didn't wow me.
Benji was annoying in the beginning of the book. He wasn't charming, he was just kind of obnoxious and WAY too cocky. Honestly, I almost put the book down multiple times in the beginning. He got better as the book went on and he pulled his head out of his ass, but it was almost like the author was writing an entirely different character. It just didn't entirely seem natural.
Ramona was a pretty good character. Her descriptors didn't match her entirely. I didn't really get the sense that she was awkward even though we are repeatedly told she is and she had some awkward comments thrown in every now and then. There wasn't really any part of her personality that stood out to me.
The beginning of the book was probably the most exciting part of the whole book, even with Benji acting ridiculous. Their adventurous first night was a lot of fun and I could see their chemistry going. Unfortunately the middle of the book just seemed to drag on and on. There were a lot of time jumps where I would have wanted some more details. I would have liked to have seen more day to day activities between them to get a better sense of their friendship. We went from them barely knowing each other to being best buddies in the span of a chapter. It seemed very rushed.
I'm not sure if it's just part of the kindle version, but there were a lot of paragraph breaks. The kind where you think you're jumping ahead to the following day or even a few hours later, but instead it was just a continuation of the scene. Almost like the author just copied her outlines from her notes and pasted them in, I guess? Not sure how else to describe it.
Overall, this book was just "meh" for me. I don't NOT recommend it, but I can't say I'd recommend it either.
Benji and Ramona's story is a sweet romance. The attraction is there from the beginning but these two slip into friendship long before the romance happens. I liked that they got to know each other as friends before anything physical happened. The characters background didn't seem to be fleshed out much and the story is a little slow paced but still a good read. 3.75 stars. I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
Score is a story about love, dreams, and bad timing. You do not have to be a fan of soccer to like this story. But thanks to this book, I think I might just be watching a few soccer games in the future. Art also plays a huge part in this story, but if you are not a fan of art, it's ok. You are still going to wish for and want a visual of the masterpieces that were worked on throughout the book.
Score is the story of Benji and Ramona. Benji has worked hard his entire life to make his dream of playing professional soccer come true. He is hot, cocky with some arrogance mixed in, and talented. But what can you expect from ⅓ of “The Dirty Trinity”??? Ramona is an artist. There is something about her that makes you feel that while she may be sarcastic and not afraid to tell you how it is, there is also something that she is hiding.
Benji and Ramona meet one night at a club in LA and had an adventurous night. They were not sure if they were ever going to see each other again but fate stepped in. Benji is not just focused on his soccer career but also the woman who seems to have interfered with his concentration and has prevented him from enjoying all the perks of being a superstar. Ramona is trying to create a piece of art but she finding it hard to find her inspiration until she meets Benji and acts on her innermost desires.
I really love Benji and loved getting to know him. The last few chapters made Benji my new book boyfriend. And Ramona will grow on you as you get inside her head. I was a little confused about a few things that happened in their lives but that didn’t take away from the story. Can’t wait to read about the next member of the “The Dirty Trinity”.
This is the first book I have read by Kerrigan Grant
Benji and Ramona two people who if you look at them on paper don't really fit together. But when Benji meets Ramona in a bar and spills a drink on her something clicks between the two of them that neither believes can be anything more than a chance encounter. Benji is a top soccer player who always gets the girl and is seeing his dream of playing professionally coming true. Ramona is an artist who does not like interaction with other people or large groups of people. When Benji goes out with his brother and best friend when he arrives in LA for the soccer draft they go out to a bar. Benji has a little too much to drink and accidentally spills a drink on a girl. Ramona is an artist who is very content with staying in her room painting and having very little interaction with the outside world. She reluctantly agrees to go to the latest club with her two friends. While at the club a drunk man spills her drink on her and she just wants to leave. Benji is surprised that after spending the night with Ramona in a purely platonic way he can't get her out of his mind. Ramona thinks that her time with Benji is a fluke. He just was being nice because he spilled her drink and he was drunk. She is certain that he wouldn't be with her if he wasn't drunk. As Benji "grows up" and realizes that he has feelings for Ramona and Ramona realizes that men aren't bad and Benji is one of the good ones. Their relationship grows as the story continue. I liked the fact that it wasn't see each other one day and the next they are married type of book. They both have doubts and are trying to work through their own issues. I look forward to the next dirty trinity book.
I received this book as an ARC for a honest review! Love Benji! Ramona is amazing! But they are totally opposites! A star soccer player and a sassy artist. When they first meet Ramona thinks Benji is giving her attention because he is drunk and that when he sobers up he is going to ditch her for someone more his type. Ramona is not the type of girl Benji usually surrounds himself with but he finds he like her company. They commit a felony or two after he knocks into her and dumps her drink all over her, but the attraction is real. Benji was not looking a girl like Ramona on his first trip ever out of South Carolina but it looks like California had other plans for him. When they arrive back at his hotel his brother Cal and friend Josh are waiting in the room and Ramona bails out fast. Benji never got a chance to go after her. She does wish him luck on his SuperDraft though. I will not give anymore away! You have to read the rest for your self. This is a 5 Star Read and I RECOMMEND it to everyone!
This book is not what I expected at all...in a good way! Normally when I start reading a sports-based romance book, the guy is cocky because he thinks he's god's gift to whatever sport he plays, and eventually finds some stupid way of pushing away the girl, only to have to win her back in the end. While Benji definitely thinks he's god's gift to the sport of soccer, he reacts completely different than what I expected when he first meets Ramona.
On his way to becoming the next Beckham, Benji has just moved out to LA in order to start his pro career. While out his first night partying with his brother and best friend, he runs into Ramona--literally. He's drunk and knocks into her, spilling her drink on her while she spills out onto the floor. His first words to her about her freckles will have you hooked, just like they hooked her.
Ramona is definitely what I would classify as an introvert. She is much more content to stay in her apartment painting on a canvas, than out clubbing with friends. But fate has a way of getting you where you need to be, which in this case, was on her ass in a crowded bar. She's not sure what to think of Benji, but she surprisingly has a great time running around with him that first night. But you know what they say about things seeming too good to be true...
There are a lot of instances of bad timing in this book, but you won't want to miss out on any of it. Ramona is a smartass after my own heart, and Benji is not at all what I expected. Their chemistry is great and the story is even better. Don't pass this one up!!
**I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review**
I liked this story - its fast paced story of falling in love with your best friend
Benji was a hot shot soccer star in college, his dream is to play professionally. He goes out to Los Angeles to attend the draft and an evening out on the town he meets Ramona who he tries desperately to impress. After a great night together things dont end up like they both expected and when he comes back to play for the LA team and he sees Ramona again she gives him the complete brush off. This just makes him more determined to win Ramona over - just as friends of course. Until he realizes that he wants more than just a friendship.
Ramona lives a sheltered life, a budding artist she works a lot but doesn't play at all. Socially awkward she doesnt know how to be around people but when she meets Benji for the first time he knocks her on her ass (literally) but when she sees him again she doesn't know what to do so reverts back to type but Benji won't let her walk away. As their friendship moves forward she knows she wants more but can she survive him.
I really liked the dialog and story between Benji and Ramona there are some great beats. There is also some awkward moments that as a reader I was taken back with - it was unexpected and I am not even sure necessary and not much I read makes me feel that way. I also wish there was more development with some of their individual backstory's, things were hinted at but to me not fully developed.
Overall I did like the story - the first half especially and for that reason I do recommend it.
I really enjoyed this book. Couldn't get enough of the characters! Benji is so cocky about his soccer skills and with the ladies. His ego is so big I'm surprised he can fit his head through the door but for some reason for me it doesn't seem to detract from him. Romona is an artist, who has an anxiety problem and doesn't really like people. She kind of likes her own company. They hit it off after Benji spills her drink over her and they spend the night doing crazy things that is so out of Romona's comfort zone and she really enjoys it too! After a brilliant night they go back to Benji's hotel room but are interrupted by Benji's brother and best friend. So they both go their separate ways. The weeks that follow neither of them can seem to get either out of their heads. They then accidently bump to each other and for some reason Romona pretends she doesn't know him and it absolutely does his head in and he can't understand why she has effected him that way. She wants to apologise and from there they hang out as friends. You can feel the tension between the 2 of them though. They can't seem to forget that night the met and kissed. I love Romona and that she was the woman who tamed Benji. They were such a cute couple and they seemed perfect for each other. Neither wanted to admits their feeling at first though. You should definitely one click this book. You will not be disappointed by it at all. Can't wait for the next book in the Dirty Trinity Series. The next book sounds just as brilliant as this book.
Ramona is a Woman who doesnt enjoy going out and pretty much would rather stay at home painting. One night everything will change when her friends talk her into going out, she thinks she will stay for a bit and head home but that all changes when she meets Benji. Benji is a Soccer player and a player in general when it comes to woman, he doesnt do relationships and he never has seconds. Benji and Ramona hang out the whole night and feel comfortable with each others company more then anyone elses of the opposite sex.
What I enjoyed most about Score is watching two people who live their lives a certain way start to change and start doing more different things, Ramona goes out of her comfort level and starts to do new things and Benji starts to fall for a woman for the first time in his life, they think one night together will get their heads on straight but it only makes what they have a stronger bond. They both will have a changing in their hearts and the way they see things will forever change.
This is another fantastic book by Kerrigan Grant, I love everything she writes. This story has a Woman who has a few close friends but doesnt trust easily as she has been hurt in her past, Ramona is an artist who is trying to get her work out there so that she can make something of it, Benji a Soccer player who has had these dreams his whole life of making it big, He likes to party and have different woman each night until he meets Ramona and he cant look at another woman the same way again, A love story. If you like stories like this, then Score is a must!
Opposites attract in this story, where soccer superstar Benji and sassy, artsy Ramona come together. The two pretend they can just be friends, until they both realize that keeping things in the friends zone is seriously messing with their mojo.
The book is well-written and the characters are enjoyable.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a fabulously written book. I love how the characters are realistic like and this isn’t your normal sports type romance. You will fall in love with the characters and this story takes a different turn than you would expect.
Benji was a hot shot soccer star in college, his dream is to play professionally. Benji is in L.A. to attend the draft pick. During a night on the town he meets Ramona by accident, she is wearing her drink as proof. Ramona is a petite, sexy, sassy, smart-mouthed chick that knocks Benji on his ass. After Benji buys Ramona a new drink, they have quite an adventure. They actually hitchhiked a ride in a van and Benji got to dip his toes in the ocean. Benji and Ramona got to talking about a great number of things. Benji made it his mission to get Ramona to smile. He even had gotten her laughing. I hope I tempted you with this little peak of their story to buy the book. You'll laugh, cry, and feel your heart breaking as Benji and Ramona struggle to find their way to true happiness.
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this advance reader copy and was not compensated in any way.
Goal scored by Kerrigan Grant! I fantastic read! Well thought out characters. Great scenes and dialogue.
Bad boy meets the girl who gives him a run for his money!! Benji is a one hit wonder when it comes to women and doesn't ever go back for seconds... However, he meets Ramona while in LA for the soccer draft. They hit it off and sparks are off the chart... Benji doesn't want a women to be his focus... but he cannot get Ramona out of his thoughts. Ramona doesn't need a guy who has an ego larger than his head, but he's her muse and it's beginning to mess with her creative flow.
Sparks turn into friendship turn into hookups turn into more... Can they both have their dreams and have each other at the same time?
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I read/review a lot of sports-related romance books, and this one is definitely a cut above! Ms Grant takes what could have been a pretty generic boy meets girl story and infuses it with extreme body conditioning, professional pre-selection angst, booze, sex, and social media--and that's just Benji! What he doesn't want is a distraction. For Benji, the world is at his feet...professional soccer, women (lots of them!), and money.
What he wasn't counting on was meeting Ramona. She's the petite, sexy, sassy, smart-mouthed chick that knocks Benji on his ass. She's also an artist who sees things in totally different ways, very quiet, and socially awkward. So very different from Benji. Plus she has a dark secret that overshadows all of her interactions with others.
Everyone needs to read this book. You'll laugh, cry, and feel your heart breaking as Benji and Ramona struggle to find their way to true happiness.
#Score deserves a much higher rating than 5 stars. It's a definite must read! (I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.)
What a great read from Kerrigan Grant! Ramona and Benji are such polar opposites, but couldn't be any more perfect for each other. Benji is a hotshot soccer stud with the world at his feet, graduating Clemson, getting drafted to the LA Universe, and on his way to living in LA. One night out with his friend and brother he meets Ramona after he spills a drink on her. Ramona is the quiet, homebody, artist who is awkward in social situations, but finds herself comfortable around Benji and he makes her laugh. One night, that ends not the way either of them thought, is all they think they have, until a chance run-in at the café Ramona works at. With them both in LA they begin a friendship that leads to more than either of them thought they would find. Ramona is perfect for Benji because when push comes to shove she wants what is best for him, even if it breaks her heart. In turn Benji is perfect for Ramona because he wont give her up without a plan, that leaves her floored. I can't say enough how much I enjoyed this book. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
#Score is a story about reaching your dreams, bad timing, and love. Benji's dream is to become a professional soccer player, which he does, and Ramona's dream is to be an artist. Benji is cocky and Ramona is spirited, she isn't afraid to say whats on her mind. These two were suffering professionally because they couldn't get each other off their minds, so they decided to sleep together but remain friends. Which doesn't work out, as they'd planned.
This story was OK, it wasn't great nor did it really grab my attention. I enjoyed the dialog between the two main characters. It was sad to see him leave Ramona in LA while he went to London, but everything works out in the end, and he gives her a great heartfelt surprise. It was interesting to see Ramona's public awkwardness come out when she seems so put together and spunky when its just her and Benji. The story was well written and put together, I just felt that there was something missing.
Main Character’s Descriptions: Benji: Soccer star and player until he meets Ramona she throws him off his game. What’s up with that? Ramona: Artist who works in a café and at her parents laundromat. She is doing good with her new painting until she meets Benji then she has a hard tine finishing the painting. Weird or what?
Summary paragraph: Benji is a major player from south Carolina a different woman every time he has a rule no double dipping the same girl twice. Then he meets Ramona and does not get lucky with her now all he can think about is Ramona she is throwing him way off his game with woman and his soccer game too.
Ramona is a homebody when she meet Benji they have a good time together but they never don’t have sex. Since she left him at his hotel room that night her painting is not going anywhere.
What happens when they meet up again? Do they finally get together as a couple or just as friends? You have to read to find out.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review
Oh I so loved this book! Benin is just perfect ( and he knows it) yet you cannot help but love him, his outlook on life is awesome, he is funny, charming, the best soccer player Clemson has seen and he will be playing pro. We get to meet his brother Cal and his cousin EZ but only enough that you will be vibrating to know more about them. You will also get a bit of information about Benji's childhood and again you will want to know more. When Benji goes to LA to join the SLA team he meets Ramona at a club by spilling her drink on her. Ramona is an artist who is right now having an artist block she has been through something short and it has really affected her mentality but she is dealing with it. I thought both characters where amazingly written because you feel a connection to them both. I loved how this story played out Benji and Ramona to finally get their HEA. Now I can't wait for Cal and EZ's stories!!!
This is the second Kerrigan Grant story I have read, first being Winning Pass. That one received a 5 star review from me and Ms. Grant did not let me down with Score! It started out a little slow with Ramona and Benji (Ramenji) meeting, losing the friends that they each came with and spending a wild night playing miniature golf, hitchhiking, walking on the beach. Becoming friends and hanging out together. But boy when the friendship turns to sizzling chemistry, Ms. Grant rises above others and I needed a fan to cool off!
"I knew you were pretty big....but I don't know how you're going to fit that all anywhere inside of me." "Where there's a will, ........I will make a f***ing way."
They are torn apart by circumstances beyond their control, but in the end, Ramenji live on together with a very romantic HEA.
*****ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review*****
I was given an ARC edition of #Score for my honest opinion. I absolutely loved it. This book grabbed me at the being and kept me turning the pages. The story was good and and the main characters Ramona and Benji were a lot of fun. Benji starts out as the usual arrogant bad boy and egotistical jock with big dreams. Ramona is the quiet quirky artist . When Ramona is talked into going out and Benji bumps into to her, the sparks fly. Benji gets Ramona to come out of her shell. Bad timing stops everything for these two. Kerrigan Grant made me laugh through this story. Yet Ramona and Benji must decide what will they give up for love and big dreams. This story is not over the top with the mushy emotional stuff. My biggest complaint I could have done with a little more sex, but what was there was hot. In my opinion it is worth reading.
A delightful story of opposites attracting (a professional footballer and an artist) ..and finding love.
Benji and Ramona are easy to like as characters and their story is very well written. Their romance isn't all plain sailing but love wins out with Benji showing there is more to him than meets the eye.
I can't wait to read the next book in The Dirty Trinity series.
I received an ARC from the author and promised an honest review.
This is the first book in the Dirty Trinity series. The book can be read as a standalone but it does end in a soft cliffhanger. The sex is hot and steamy so definitely 18+.
The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat all of that info here. The author did a great job of describing the characters and their emotions. This is not your typical sports romance story where it is insta-love and they never leave the bedroom. Yes there are graphic sex scenes. But they also spend a lot of time doing things, some of them crazy, and getting to know each other. It definitely kept me riveted.
I look forward to reading more of this series, after all I want to know more about the other two members of the Dirty Trinity. I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
