Jess is hot on the trail of wanted men again. After running down a ruthless killer by the name of Dorr Munn, Jess finds himself in the town of Howell, Texas, where he meets a man by the name of Champ Kiel. Kiel makes the mistake of challenging Jess and against his nature, Jess spares Kiel.
Four men rob the bank in Howell, killing the bank manager and a teller. During their escape, they trample an old woman to death. A large personal bounty is placed on the men’s heads and Jess finds himself forced to team up with Kiel on the hunt for them.
Their hunt takes them on a long and dangerous trek across a large part of Texas and Jess finds help from the most unexpected partner he’s ever worked with…Shadow.

In 1990 Robert J. Thomas was sworn in as the full time mayor for the city of Westland, Michigan. He served twelve years, making him the longest serving mayor in Westland's history.
While he was mayor he wrote his first book titled, How to Run for Local Office, which has now sold over 25,000 copies worldwide.
He has written and published on Kindle, the Jess Williams Westerns series. Retired, he now lives in Mississippi with his wfe Jill.
One of the better stories from Thomas. In this one Jess not only has a man tagging along for a share of the bounty, but he picks up a tame timber wolf that accompanies him, as well.
A great story with a new twist. Jess saved A injured wolf and he becomes Jess body guard and he saved Jess life several times. Jess and the wolf have the same soul and spirit. Each story gets better.
Great gunslinger/bounty hunter western right out of Texas. A lot of killing in the book, but definitely easy to read. Loved the tricks that Jess used on other bounty hunters and the hunted alike. Shadow is a great addition. Nice morning read.
I've been reading westerns since I started reading. This was definitely worth the time. It never stopped being interesting. No need to skip over some part to get back to the story. Anyone that enjoys westerns will enjoy this!
loved all of Jess Williams series, this one was a little different from the others, because of the wolf.I chose the five star rating, because of the difference from the other books, which I loved all of them, and gave five star ratings to many others. I recommend the Jess Williams series to anyone who loves reading a really accurate account about the old west, and the characters in all the series
we're all interesting. Will keep buying and reading Mr. Robert J. Thomas's books as long as he keeps weighting them, I have almighty four. Thanks for the interesting reading.
I truly enjoy any western adventures of Jesse Williams. Each one is different moving in many directions but all ending with ridding the west of bushwackers, rapists, child molesters and any other trashy manipulative warts. I'm happy that he has a companion..a Lobo wolf...who he rescued from a snare set by some unknown meanie. Shadow is his name, and so far he's Jesse's partner/protector...GREAT..I hope things go well for Shadow..I'm sure you all will agree even if he's a full blood wolf...he would lay down his life protecting Jesse..I hope we read more about Shadow, and hopefully his demise will be from old age..Such as "DOG" who was PREACHER'S partner/pet..
I really love reading these books about Jess Williams. He always gets his man. But he is very generous to the sheriff and other people. I love that he found Shadow I really hope to see Shadow in the future books as a side kick to Jess. Keep these books coming, can't wait for number 45.
As usual the series is definitely one of the best I have had the pleasure of reading. Robert j thomas you do an incredible job. And as usual waiting on the next book in this series.
Jess has finally found a partner that can keep up. It will be interesting to see if Jess ever find s out where he came from. Nice touch, I hope to see more of the new partner for a long time.
Another great story and now Jess has a new partner. This is another exciting story in the Jess Williams saga, the stories get better and better. Every western fan should take notice and enjoy this ongoing series can't wait for the next.
Once again another fantastic Jess Williams story. I especially like the wolf tagging along with Jess. I'm hoping that the wolf becomes a permanent part of future books. Keep up the good work, Mr. Thomas !!!!!
Love the Jess character. This author is so good you feel as if your right there in the story. Easy reading you won't want to put it down. Very good western, you'll like it.
