Library book. It was an okay read. More like 2.5 stars. Not a book I would buy.
Though I do a lot of my own cooking from scratch, neither my budget nor lifestyle includes using recipes that call for respectively, 5 pounds of pork belly, 8 pounds of brisket or a 50 pound pig.
The side recipes were more interesting and more in line with everyday living. Since I'm not a beer drinker I'd probably adapt the beer pizza dough and use fizzy water. I already have dill pickle, sauerkraut, watermelon rind pickle, pasta and pesto recipes I like but these looked okay. I might try the rye bread-that was really what made me check out the book. If I do, I'll add my results.

So, if gonzo chef is your style and money is no object, you might get more out of this book than I did.

With this book of recipes, you are doing everything but slaughtering animals and grinding wheat. It's a fun read, but I wasn't all that inspired to make any of the recipes, and I'm someone who does a fair amount of from-scratch cooking.

I picked this one up at the library and leaved through it. Found the author to be full of himself. Sisn't think much of the recipes. I thought it was going to have recipes for more common, everyday items.
