Annabeth Albert is one of my favorite authors, and her #gamers series is one of my favorite series, so it's NO WONDER I adored this book. Adored every stinkin' word!
Do you like slightly spastic, hyper geeks? How about hot military men? How about overly enthusiastic puppies? Hurt-comfort stories? Even if you think you don't like these things, I'm telling you, you will!
I like a good military M/M as much as the next gal, but I'm not one of those readers that goes insane for men in uniform. I actively avoid romantic suspense, so I actually don't read that many military-type stories. This one is more of a civilian story with a navy SEAL MC, but it had that intensity that some military stories have, which I really enjoyed. Plus, Ryan is one of those typical super brawny military men, and has huuuuuge.... hands. What? What were you thinking? *Psst- that too!*
I usually don't read many reviews before starting a story, but I think it is important here to find out the nature of Ryan's injuries along with Josiah. I think that story reads more organically and profoundly that way, and it will help you stay inside each of the character's head-spaces.
I have a thing for geeks, so a geeky MC is gravy to me. Perhaps that is why I'm so in love with this series? Give me a computer programmer any day of the week! Smart = sexy in my book, so I really enjoyed Josiah.
I also liked how the relationship between Ryan and Josiah grew from just a friendship with a spark of attraction to something more. It was a slow progression with lots of bumps on their journey, but I loved how there were no silly misunderstandings or other tired plot devices. These two men had a lot of things to work through, and I loved how they complemented one another and grew along the way.
This book isn't super-duper sex-focused, but I thought that the sex was hot and emotional. I absolutely loved Ryan's dirty talking and his toppy-top attitude. He was a beast in bed, and I could have used even MORE of the nasty stuff.
I loved this nearly perfect story with perfectly imperfect characters. I think if you are a fan of men who have to fight against the odds and want a story that is really special, pick this one up.

Connection Error is much angstier than the previous two books in the series. If you like hurt/comfort stories, you'll love this book, but be aware that the focus is much more on the hurt than comfort.
Ryan is a Navy SEAL who was injured on his last mission. He is determined to return to active duty and is flying to Washington DC for full-time rehab when he meets the hyperactive Josiah on a flight.
Josiah flirts with Ryan shamelessly. He ogles Ryan's biceps and basically trips over his tongue in an effort to draw Ryan into a conversation. Things get easier when Josiah realizes Ryan is a gamer and a fan of the game Josiah's developing. Josiah asks Ryan all kinds of questions about the military to make that aspect of the game more realistic.
And then the plane lands due to severe winter weather, and Josiah says something really hurtful and stupid. I was seriously aghast! Damn Josiah's lack of filter and impulse control.
Josiah is immediately contrite, and Ryan can't bring himself to leave Josiah stranded at the airport, so the two end up sharing a hotel room overnight. They form a tentative friendship that initially feels fairly one-sided.
Josiah is all into Ryan. He want to lick him all over and do the whole long-distance thing. But Ryan is hurting. He's defensive and closed off. Ryan doesn't do feelings. He's still hung up on his last relationship, which ended abruptly (I was never clear as to whether the breakup was due to Ryan's injuries or if it happened prior to Ryan's failed mission).
I love that the MCs in this book aren't perfect. Josiah has severe ADHD and still lives with his mom because he has a hard time adulting. He's been promoted to a leadership position at work, but he can't control his team.
And Ryan. Oh, God, Ryan. He had my heart from the word go. I didn't pity him. I admired him.
Annabeth Albert is sensitive to issues veterans face and pulls no punches in showing the pain and disappointment Ryan endures. Ryan is used to being the alpha; he's strong and stoic. He doesn't wallow in misery, but his injuries are severe.
The extent of Ryan's injuries is revealed in the second chapter at 7 percent. It's a powerful moment in the story, and I'm glad that I went into the book blindly. I recommend NOT reading the spoiler below, but if you must know:
Ryan and Josiah's relationship progresses slowly. They are apart throughout most of the book, so much of the relationship development happens via emails, texts, and IMs. Josiah isn't Ryan's type, until he becomes Ryan's everything.
Feeling like he's lost his purpose in life, Ryan decides he wants to take care of Josiah. After all, Ryan is structured and organized, not to mention a decade Josiah's senior. Plus, if he's helping Josiah, he doesn't have to deal with his own grief.
But Josiah doesn't want to be anyone's project. He wants a boyfriend, not a caretaker.
Josiah needs to learn to stand up for himself, and I was so proud of him at the end. He was totally in the right to call Ryan on his bullshit.
This book is relatively low on the steam. There are reasons for this, but it was still a letdown. There's a very sexy mutual masturbation scene involving a shower, but really only one lovemaking scene. (The half-star deduction is for the lack of steam.)
The epilogue was very much needed here, and it put a happy smile on my face.
Oh, and I adored Gracie, Josiah's white lab puppy. (My white lab Magnum is the love of my life, and I have a soft spot for dogs in general. Seriously, if you don't like dogs, get outta my house. Like literally get out. I have three, and they don't take kindly to being dissed.)
Connection Error can definitely be read as a standalone. The couples from the first two books play a small role and serve more as fillers (we don't really see them interact). Speaking of secondary characters, both Josiah and Ryan's mom are awesome, supportive but not overwhelmingly so.
I venture to say there will be another book in this series (there are some hints in the epilogue), and I'll be first in line to read it.

It really wasn't holding my attention.I loved Josiah but Ryan wasn't doing it for me and the sex scenes I read did nothing for me.
It's,probably,not the book's fault but after reading some really intense books recently I think my preferences have changed.

Connection Error...
So much to love about this story. It was exquisitely written. I'm telling you now- this book will be on my Top Ten for the year. We just submitted our Top Five Reads for the first half of the year, and it killed me not to include this one. Since it technically doesn't release until September, it didn't qualify. Anyhoo, I'm going off on a tangent- back to the book! In this installment of the #gaymers series- Josiah finally got his HEA. I loved his character in the previous book, and I was chomping at the bit waiting for his turn. Annabeth Albert paired him with Navy Seal Ryan Orson. He's sweet but bossy and sometimes gruff. He's got a lot on his plate, and although attracted to the young nerdy video game programmer- he doesn't see it going anywhere. BUT attraction and their undeniable chemistry will not be denied.
My highlights:
- Character development: Superb. We saw these characters learn about themselves and each other as the story progressed. As the blurb mentioned, Josiah has ADHD and sometimes doubts himself causing him to lean on his mom for help a bit. It was rewarding to read him coming into his own. Ryan... I don't want to give too much away, but he almost has to learn a new life.
-The characters. They were real, they weren't perfect, and their stories are ones that people can relate to.
-Opposites attract. This is a trope often written by Annabeth Albert- and she nails it every time. Josiah and Ryan were perfect for each other and were each other's missing piece.
-Relationship development. The way the author brought them together was fun, romantic, sexy, with a hint of angst. These two had palpable chemistry.
-Narration. It's told from an alternating POV---> my favorite.
-Angst. I love when books pull at my heartstrings, and this one broke my heart for each character.
-HEA. Just as I love a good heartbreak, I also love getting my heart put back together. Again- I don’t want to give too much away, but the way everything worked out for each character and their relationship was appropriate. It made me believe in their HEA.
Steam level. Not as steamy as some of her other stories but it didn't matter, and I hope other readers won't pass on this book because of that. You'll be seriously missing out on a wonderful book if you do.
Do you need to read the other books first? No, but they're great. Give 'em a shot. ;)
This one's getting 5+ Stars from me. I just loved it so much. It's a true hurt/comfort/healing story that will not only make your heart happy but will also get you to believe in HEAs.

This book doesn’t shy away from showing how different disabilities can affect daily life. This author clearly did her research, and presented it without becoming lecture-y. I think to fully appreciate what Ryan goes through, it’s best to find out the extent of his injuries and recovery at the same time Josiah does so in the book.
All I’ll say is that it didn’t take me long to develop a deep respect for Ryan.
Josiah and Ryan’s relationship grows slowly. They’re apart from each other for most of the book. What they feel for one another grows through their emails, chats, and Skype dates. They don’t make it easy, taking one step forward and two steps back many times.
Though the two take a while to get moving, I had no trouble believing that Ryan and Josiah fell for each other hard. They fit together perfectly.
There isn’t a whole lot of sex in this book, but it’s still pretty hot stuff. Ryan is a total bossy top with a dirty mouth, and Josiah finds that he likes being ordered around in the bedroom. The two even take a stab at some exhibitionism.
My only complaint in this department is that the Skype sex was all off-page. On-page Skype sex would have been the cherry on top!
What I enjoy most in a romance is when the main characters help each other grow, and that’s definitely the case here. Being with Ryan helps Josiah find the confidence in himself that he’s always lacked, and that includes not using Ryan as a crutch. For Ryan, being with Josiah shows him that he’s more than just a SEAL, and he doesn’t always have to take care of everyone.
Ryan and Josiah have to work hard for their happy ever after, but it was worth it in the end!
‘Connection Error’ has a lot going for it - a geek, a military hunk, lots of hurt/comfort, and, to top it off, an adorable puppy. Recommended if you’re looking for a contemporary read that will pull at your heartstrings!

Whenever I think of Albert for some reason I think of major fluff. But in reality, she is deceptively more serious and always pleasingly more smexy than expected. This was no exception.
What should’ve never worked, does, as a travel delay starts up a tentative friendship between complete opposites Ryan and Josiah. Through their love of gaming, feels and flirting bloom despite long distance and despite being in what seems very different stages of their lives.
Josiah is a little bit scattered. He’s a lot flighty and impulsive, and just wants to show everyone he can be a responsible adult. Despite a rocky start, he’s instantly smitten with Ryan, though he feels he might not be good enough for the confident, injured soldier. Ryan is determined to get better so he can return to his military job and nothing is going to stand in his way. He doesn’t want to rely on anyone, he doesn’t want to be treated differently, but he reluctantly admits that Josiah is a much needed breath of fresh air in between his grueling PT and the inevitable frustrations that come with recovery.
Slowly though, they worm into each other’s lives. Josiah wanting them to be so much more and Ryan too scared to even contemplate such a serious step. This doesn’t skimp on the UST, the insecurity and doubt amongst the hot smex, and the ups and downs of how Josiah and Ryan navigate their feelings and how to fit together.
Simply put, realistic on topical issues and relationship progression, and thankfully with no asinine misunderstandings or miscommunication. Just another wonderful addition to this series!

My favorite in the series!! This was so damn good! Why has it been sitting unread on my kindle for so long?
I loved Josiah and Ryan! Two men dealing with two different situations but with similar vulnerabilities and insecurities.
The connection between these two is instantaneous. You're hooked from the moment the endearingly adorable Josiah sits down next to Ryan on the plane. The smiles, the banter, the flirting...all of it perfectly designed to get you invested in these men within a couple of chapters.
And then we're shown the extent of Ryan's injuries. And just like for Josiah, it's a little bit of a surprise that quickly morphs into a shrug and just another part of the intriguing stranger on the plane.
If you'd like to know the extent of Ryan's injuries before reading, I'll put it under a spoiler.
Ryan and Josiah live on opposite coasts (Josiah lives in California and Ryan is going through rehab in Washington DC), and my absolute FAVORITE thing about long distance relationships in books is the texting and emails.
The ones here did not disappoint!
These messages truly formed the foundation of their friendship...the two easily becoming the first person each man wanted to share any news with. They supported each other, helped each other brainstorm solutions to problems...had a little fun with Skype <--- though it really bums me out that the Skype fun was all off page and merely mentioned. I would have liked a visual of at lease ONE session.
The evolution of their relationship was perfect. Just the right balance between those initial butterflies, the hesitant steps forward, the self-doubt of wanting more but not sure how to ask for it...with the added emotional (and at times hilarious *Naked Twister*) aspect of Ryan relearning his body when it comes to sex and, especially, intimacy.
Unfortunately, the steam is my one bit of disappointment with this book. I wish there was more on page between Ryan and Josiah. There's some here, but there's also a few instances where you're just told in passing how they spent their time together.
But one of my favorite things about this book is how well Ryan and Josiah balanced each other. Josiah never treated Ryan as anything less than an equal. He didn't coddle him...he easily understood Ryan's need to be independent and never questioned Ryan's ability to take care of himself. At the same time, even though Ryan loved feeling needed, he encouraged Josiah to take the reins on more parts of his life.
This is a book that I HIGHLY recommend. Even though it's book 3 in the series, it can easily be read as a standalone.
Do not make the same mistake as me and let an awesome book linger out there in the world without having read it.

Different than the rest of the series, but pretty amazing. Number two is still my favourite but this one came close. My only complaint is that I'd like the MCs to spend a little more time together on page.

"I'm more worried about forgetting to pay the rent or screwing up my med reminders or getting so into work that I forget to eat. I do that. And what about Gracie? [the dog] What if I forget to feed her?"
I can't talk about the disability rep (Ryan, one of the MC, is an amputee and uses a wheelchair ; it seemed correctly handled BUT you should check ownvoices reviews) and I had complains with the story itself (nothing huge, but wasn't a favourite either) but the ADHD rep was A+. Seriously. I have rarely seen myself in fiction in that way. Wow.

I LOVE Albert's gaymers series so I jumped into the chance of requesting the ARC edition from Netgalley. After I finished, I found that I enjoyed it slightly less than the previous two books but still a very good read.
My biggest obstacle was probably because I couldn't see where the romance was going, especially from Ryan's point of view. It was easier to see what Josiah (the adorable younger man) wanted -- he was into Ryan right from the very beginning. Despite the foot-to-mouth problem that Josiah was having when he first discovered that Ryan was a but he was quickly redeemed himself. It was clear he didn't see Ryan as different because of the extent of his injury. I truly loved him for that.
Ryan, on the other hand, was a little bit difficult for me to connect. I had to give KUDOS first for Annabeth Albert to have a not-physically-perfect character here. Plus the progress of Ryan of getting better, with the therapy and the surgery felt right. Nothing was easy for him. I could feel Ryan's frustration, for someone who usually be in control, in command, to find himself dealing with compromise was definitely a challenge.
It was in terms of him approaching the relationship with Josiah that became a little bit of an issue. I wonder what Ryan wanted. Later on I could slightly understand that he was trying to make Josiah his project because in the way he could help Josiah made him feel like he could still do something. But was it simply because of his need for control or was his ego of wanting to feel needed? Was it some sort of hero complex? Again, it was more difficult for me to get Ryan which influenced my enjoying the story.
Oh, also, I felt that Josiah and Ryan spent more time apart rather than together because they lived in different part of the country. So often, they communicated via means of technology only, a lot of emails here back and forth ... and I have never been patient with epistolary writing.
Due to Ryan's health situation, there wasn't a lot of steam here, but it also felt right. It would probably annoy me to no-end, if the story become highly charged with sex scenes when Ryan had to focus on getting himself to be better.
So I thought the characters and the plot to be well-written and strong. I liked that the ending didn't feel like Happily Ever After, that the two men were still working on it but felt as SOLID.
I enjoyed this series SO MUCH. Probably more than Albert's other series, Portland Heat.

Unpopular opinion coming up...
I seem to be the only one who didn't like this, so it definitely must be me then.
I loved the first two books in this series, especially book 2. But this one…. I didn’t like all that much. I have to say there were some parts I did like, but near the end it got awful again.
My biggest problem with this book was Ryan. He was just so… gruff and unemotional.
It’s okay to feel things, you know. But no, Ryan is a big bad Navy SEAL, who shall never admit his feelings or admit he needs help. That was just too much for me. And he made Josiah feel bad on several occasions by dismissing Josiah’s problems.
”I’m looking at having you ship it to me in Germany when you get back to DC, but it looks like that could be hassle and a half.”
“I’ve hiked mountain ranges I’m not allowed to name in the middle of winter. You don’t get to complain about hassle.”
Oops. Josiah felt his face heat even though Ryan wasn’t there to see his apologetic look.
Just because you have had it ‘worse’ doesn’t mean other people’s problems are insignificant. I hate it when people say shit like this.
This was not a success.

"We may not be perfect, but we're perfect for each other." Navy Seal Ryan Orson and game programmer Josiah Simmons may seem to be an unlikely pair, but despite everything Ryan and Josiah ARE perfect for one another. Annabeth Albert does a beautiful job of showing all the hard work, and hard truths each man has to deal with along the way to their HEA.
Josiah and Ryan meet aboard a flight to Washington D.C. which is redirected to St. Louis due to bad weather. As they disembark, Josiah abruptly realizes the extent of Ryan's injuries and, because of his ADHD and complete and utter lack of a filter, says something without thinking and alienates Ryan. But Josiah doesn't give up so easily and eventually the two men share a hotel room for the night. An afternoon of playing Space Villager, a swim, a nice dinner, and one very hot and steamy shower adventure later, Ryan and Josiah go their separate ways, but not for long.
With Josiah back in California and Ryan rehabbing at Walter Reed outside D.C., they keep in contact via email and text, sexy Skype sessions, and an occasional visit (can you say sexy hot-ass Naked Twister?) But nothing in this story is a fairy tale romance, and Ryan doesn't recover from his injuries overnight and magically achieve his career goals; Josiah still has ADHD and has to learn how to find his way without his mother (with whom he has been living) in addition to learning how to effectively manage his work team.
The sexual chemistry between Ryan and Josiah is palpable but the strength of their relationship is their easy compatibility. Josiah fills a missing gap in Ryan's life, one Ryan didn't fully realize even existed. Ryan gives Josiah the strength to realize "if he wanted things right in his life, he was going to have to get in there and make them right." Again, they may not be perfect ... but they are perfect for each other.
I really enjoyed this addition to the #gaymers series but disliked the last-minute Big Miscommunication that got tossed into this fairly low-angst story. I also grew a bit weary of all the emails and texts and felt they slowed down and disrupted the flow of the story. But, apart from these minor quibbles, there is a lot to love about Connection Error. 4.5 stars.

This was one the best books I've read in awhile. Josiah is a video game programmer who typically does pretty well but he struggles with severe ADHD and it's something he has had to work to deal with. On a flight to a meeting for his job, Josiah ends up seated next to Ryan. Ryan is a Navy SEAL and he has recently suffered a severe injury. His career is on hold as he works through physical therapy and treatments. Ryan's entire focus is getting back to a place where he can have his career back. A series of events lead the two men into a tentative friendship. As time goes on they realize they care about each other but both men have serious issues they need to work out and they're not sure if they can do a relationship too.
This is the third book in this series but it can be read as a stand alone. We've met Josiah in previous books but not in any way that majorly effects the plot in this story. I enjoyed the previous books but I thought this one was the best in the series. This was a great example of a hurt/comfort story. Both of these men have hurts they have to deal with and Ryan's situation in particular was very complicated. I loved Ryan's character and thought he was extremely well done. The plot line on him was unique and not something I have ever read before. Josiah is a bit exasperating at times but he really grew on me as the story went along. This was one of those stories where by the time it's finished you totally can see this couple together. I was completely invested in them and their long and sometimes painful road.
The writing was good and very engaging. The characters were realistic and their problems seemed like things that every day people go through. The sides characters are there to add to the story but they aren't major components and they don't over shadow the main couple. There are appearances from the couples in the first two books so if you've read the rest of the series you'll be glad to see how they're doing. I loved everything about this book and I highly recommend it.

4.5 **Naked Twister** Stars
This was by far my favorite of the series. I will admit I usually steer clear of stories that center around soldiers, especially injured in the line of duty soldiers, because my heart is such a weak thing it has a hard time dealing with a the feels this subject inflicts. I'm so glad I didn't realize this was the case, having pre-ordered and not pre-read the description I started this book blind, it was such a touching story. I really appreciated the way their story was told, it felt so real and I loved how both Josiah and Ryan took each other's issues in stride, understanding but not judging or allowing them to limit who they saw each other to be. Plainly said, I really enjoyed this book, I could have read a lot more about this couple.

The 3rd standalone book in this series, it’s Josiah turn with Ryan.
Josiah met Ryan by pure coincidence on a plane, and thanks to a diverted trip, they ended up spending a night somewhere. A friendship was born but who are they kidding, it is more than that. As this is part of #gaymers series, gaming plays a big part, of course, in how their relationship evolved.
Josiah, dealing with his ADHD, may lack the necessary filters in his communication but at least you know he means what he says and says what he means. He’s considerate of Ryan, adorable with his insecurities. I’ve lost count of the times I found myself with this silly grin on my face with his lines and thoughts.
Ryan was still recovering, physically, mentally and emotionally, from his military tour that would his course in life. When he met Josiah, a lot of things are still new to him and Josiah definitely was unexpected. Josiah becoming a part of his life was definitely not part of his plan. He’s grumpy in a charming way and Josiah has the right temperament to create a chink in his armor. He’s an alpha through and through but now saddled with his new reality and that’s a tough pill to swallow. And it was just as adorable to see him be unsettled by Josiah.
Josiah and Ryan’s story has a heavier feel than the first two. I think Annabeth handled it deftly and respectfully without trivializing the aftereffects, especially when I think of Ryan’s situation.
In my mind, while this was not perfect in its execution like the first 2 bks in the series, what I can’t deny is the perfection of the characters in all their imperfections. They cannot be any more endearing in my head. There’s just something in the way Annabeth exposes the “flaws” of these men in such a fashion that makes you love them even more without shoving angst in your face. She gives me characters I would want to surround myself with in RL. And just like the first 2 books, she gave me a story that’s complex in its simplicity, like a hot cup of tea with a surprising spice to it. Like chai, maybe? LOL
Two opposites gravitating towards each other, reading each other to give each other what they need and finding in each other what they want… sigh… Can’t get any better than that!

I really liked this book. The characters are well developed and complex. We get to see their insecurities even when they can't see them themselves. Both guys have things that they need to move on from and/or overcome before they can be who they think they are or want to be.
I love that we get to see more of Josiah and actually see him as a person and not an infatuated fool. His behavior is explained and makes a lot of sense. I liked how Ryan could get him to settle, and quiet the voices and impulses that run through his head, when he needed some quiet and rest.
Ryan is using his job as his identity and everything is crumbling around him while he is in rehab for his injuries. He doesn't know who he is without work to guide him. Josiah was definitely not on his list of items to get better, but there is something about him that he can't resist. They get off to a rocky start once Josiah realizes the extent of his injuries, but once they get that and the following misunderstandings out of the way, things get interesting.
This is a great book and a wonderful series. I highly recommend that you read this book and the whole series.

Le voy a dar tres estrellas, pero está realmente entre las tres y las dos. Es el segundo libro que leo de esta autora y parece que definitivamente no es para mi.
La historia entre el chico gaymer con AHDH y el Seal con graves heridas de guerra parecía que prometía muchos sentimientos, esperaba eso y verme envuelta en una historia con cierta profundidad entre dos personas con dificultades para adaptarse a una vida que a veces puede ser muy complicada y que se enamoran. Pero..., al final todo se ha quedado en un bluf. No ha habido ningún momento que me haya arrancado un suspiro de alegría o pena, nada. Creo que los protagonistas tienen muchas menos capas de las que debían tener, sus dificultades son reales pero al final parece que se resuelven: y se arregló, chimpún. No he visto en ningún momento química entre los protagonistas, ellos me gustan por separado pero no sé por qué quieren estar juntos, las escenas de sexo, excepto una al principio, me han parecido muy superficiales teniendo en cuenta lo que tiene que afrontar el militar, y no me gusta la forma que tiene la autora de escribir los diálogos entre los protagonistas, parece que no se dicen nada y de repente sueltan un speech lleno de significado que no sabes muy bien cómo interpretar o cómo situarlo dentro de una conversación.
No, no realmente lo que me esperaba, quizás el problema estaba en mis expectativas. Está bien para quien quiera algo un poco light. Es una autora a la que le falta, para mi, intensidad.

This is a sweet hurt/comfort story, featuring a geeky gamer with ADHD and an injured but determined navy SEAL who is on the mend after a mission gone awry.
This story is slightly angstier in tone than its series predecessors, mainly due to the heavier themes and meatier content explored within.
Josiah is my favourite character within this series (so far), and as such, I thoroughly relished finally getting his focus story.
Unfortunately, I never really warmed to Ryan. There is no doubt the guy has gone through some seriously trying times and has dealt with it all like a pro - I simply didn't like his personality. I felt he was a bit too cold to Josiah, even past the point that they were officially in a relationship. I also wasn't a fan of the way his general attitude seemed to diminish the importance or validity of the feelings and issues Josiah was experiencing; like if Josiah's troubles weren't of the same significance as Ryan's troubles then they were unimportant. I didn't like that at all. Ryan just wasn't my cup of tea.
Regardless, this was a lovely addition to an already steadily enjoyable series and I look forward to any future releases featuring more of these gamers.

EDIT Sep 2016: writing the review got me so pumped for this I gotta do a re-read!
YES! Straight to my top favourites of 2016!
Annabeth Albert has gone above and beyond with this series and every book seems to be getting better than the one before. In Connection error, the angst is a palpable thing, interspersed with glorious chemistry between Ryan and Josiah, and emotions galore. Recipe for success!
Josiah is a nerdy gamer with ADHD who cannot filter things that come out of his mouth. This character trait is a fad, I think, because I have seen it a lot lately, but boy did Annabeth Albert get it exactly right here! Because see, Josiah isn’t just cute when he blurts things out. He can be offensive. He can be extremely rude, even if he wasn’t trying to be and comes off as an insensitive jerk. But it’s so genuine, and he feels so bad afterwards, but you can’t help but feel endeared towards him. He is adorable in his awkwardness and I do love me a quirky character, so it was love at first sight for me!
Ryan on the other hand...Ryan is a navy seal. He has the badass thing down pat and has the muscles and hotness factor to go along with it. Ryan’s type is something NOT Josiah but Josiah ends up impossible to resist. Ryan is more reserved and personal issues he is dealing with stemming from his deployment are holding him back. But the most amazing thing of all is that Ryan and Josiah make a great team together. Ryan is a natural caretaker, and while initially you’d think it’d be the opposite, it’s Josiah who needs looking after. And Josiah does a lot of growing up throughout the book. He is unsure of himself and it would be so easy to just let Ryan make the big decisions for him but he actually steps up and takes the plunge when it comes to becoming more independent.
I just absolutely loved these two. Their story comes with heart-ache and uncertainty but they care for each other so deeply that nothing could possibly stand in the way. I loved the ending and just writing this review makes me want to start rereading this right freaking now.

YES! Straight to my top favourites of 2016!
Annabeth Albert has gone above and beyond with this series and every book seems to be getting better than the one before. In Connection error, the angst is a palpable thing, interspersed with glorious chemistry between Ryan and Josiah, and emotions galore. Recipe for success!
Josiah is a nerdy gamer with ADHD who cannot filter things that come out of his mouth. This character trait is a fad, I think, because I have seen it a lot lately, but boy did Annabeth Albert get it exactly right here! Because see, Josiah isn’t just cute when he blurts things out. He can be offensive. He can be extremely rude, even if he wasn’t trying to be and comes off as an insensitive jerk. But it’s so genuine, and he feels so bad afterwards, but you can’t help but feel endeared towards him. He is adorable in his awkwardness and I do love me a quirky character, so it was love at first sight for me!
Ryan on the other hand...Ryan is a navy seal. He has the badass thing down pat and has the muscles and hotness factor to go along with it. Ryan’s type is something NOT Josiah but Josiah ends up impossible to resist. Ryan is more reserved and personal issues he is dealing with stemming from his deployment are holding him back. I was literally like this the entire time with Ryan!!!! GAH!!!! Annabeth, why did you do this to me? I was on an extreme high from Beta Test and you give me this ANGST FEST!!!
I get the hives with to much angst, and for some folks this might be just for them. At the end of the story, I'm still not sold on Ryan. Book three is way, way, way more angstier then the other two. They were both my kind of feel good love stories. This was a good hurt/comfort, but I can't be happy because I feel like I don't know where I stand with Ryan. I feel like I was in a relationship with him, and the entire time he was playing with my emotions. I'm to uncertain of him to be happy with the outcome. Do you get me? Well if not , let me break it down for you.
Josiah, sweet, ADHD brain riddled, kinky Josiah. I liked him, and in his book he read a tad bit different for me. I guess because we're reading from his pov. It's nice to see all his vulnerabilities and see him in a different light. I liked him alot, and I think he handled Ryan well. I think that Jos isn't use to the type of attention or love that he wants from Ryan. I found him to be a typical 23 year old. His character was a little over the top, and I'm happy the way Annabeth went about Jos and his ADHD. He talked about his fears, his desires, and at the end of the day I think he was just trying to Adult. It's kinda hard for him to be an adult when he's basically coddle by his mom, but I think him gaining his freedom and standing up for himself showed such character growth.
**Groans** Ryan. I get all of his neurosis. They make sense. Ryan is an ex- navy seal who is having trouble acclimating to civilian life and the lost of his fiance. Well his fiance dumped him and moved on. Ryan frustrated me, and in my head I kept yelling at myself that he shouldn't frustrate me. I know this, but it still got on my nerves. Apart of me gets it, he couldn't give Jos what he needed because Ryan wasn't in control of his own life. This is where angst heaven came into play. Every little stepping stone and progress they made together, Ryan would shut it down automatically. And yeah, for a time, it completely read like he was leading Jos on. Leading him on just so Ryan wouldn't be lonely. It was like pulling teeth at best. At worst, I kept screaming at Ryan. "What do you want?"
This gif is extremely perfect for me, because I was Ryan Gosling screaming at my kindle. Come on!! Ryan had all the cards in his hand. Yes, your life wasn't where you wanted it to be, or what you pictured your recovery to be like, but it wasn't fair to Jos at all. I'm winding down now, and I liked the story, and all the pain it put me through. I need some fluffy goodness from Annabeth Albert to make up for this.

4.5 'so good' stars
Oh man. This is exactly the kind of book that guarantee to cheer me up if I'm in a funky mood. There is just simply no way any reader can keep a straight face when they read about Josiah and his antics. Definitely a reread material for all the laughter, sweetness and love that it provides me.
Josiah is a video game programmer who has ADHD. He is constantly jumpy, restless, forgetful and talk without much filter. He just got a new role as a team lead, but lacking in some leadership skill. Chance had it that he met a hot guy that is totally out of his league during his business trip.
Ryan is an injured Navy SEAL that is hard set to return to active duty despite his condition. I'm not sure to praise for his determination or call him out for being delusional. His only life goal seems to be the hero who save the day. Geeky Josiah is definitely not his type, nor he has any interest in relationship after breaking up with his fiance.
Josiah is such a dear and his antics are often hilarious. When he met Ryan, all he think is that Ryan is super hot. Arm porn alert! He didn't see Ryan as an invalid, which I think is the most important part of their relationship.
Ryan used to be an alpha guy before his injuries. His condition is a big hit to his ego and he get really self conscious about himself. I think the Ryan before might not even remotely be interested in Josiah, he still don't, but the genuine way Josiah really see him for who he is make Ryan realize that this is true love compare to his previous relationship.
On paper, both Josiah and Ryan have some heavy baggage and serious issue to deal with. But their story was told in a really lighthearted manner and injected with so much humor. Is not the kind of book that need to be taken too seriously. However, there are also time when they face some challenge in their life and relationship that make me a teary eye. Love all their text messages and emails throughout the story.
The only thing that can make this book even better for me is more sex. Yes, I'm such a perv that way. The handful of sex scenes in this book are really hot and all, but I wish to read more of the different position that I can envision. I want to read about Ryan going down on Josiah, Josiah or Ryan being on top, bottom, behind, in front, sideways, on the desk, against the wall, on the chair etc... Wow! I think I have some pretty good imagination right there.

I really liked the first one in the series so I was excited to dive into this one when I saw that it was a hurt/comfort story. Unfortunately this one didn’t work out for me, it was filled with things I usually hate in my romance - commitment issues, seemingly hung up on an ex, bratty behavior, and sorta pushing away? 😵💫
I liked Josiah. I didn’t like Ryan. This kinda just felt like a mess to me I don’t even know why I kept reading I wouldn’t have missed much if I DNF’d it. 🙈

5 Perfect Stars
This was an Amazing story and I quickly fell in love with Ryan and Josiah and have a new appreciation for Naked Twister!
Annabeth Albert has proven to me that she can write stories that are deeply emotional, perfectly romantic, and hot as hell - yes, she clicks all my boxes on what makes a perfect story!
So, if you have not read the first two stories in this series - while I really think you should because they are amazing, you can totally understand this book with out them. It stands alone from the others yet connected by friendships and work relationships.
This story deals with some hard topics, disability and learning to live again, life changing medical conditions, being injured in the line-of-duty, mourning for a previous you when your whole world is turned up-side-down, and learning to adult, struggling with ADHD, being held accountable, and falling in love. So many of these issues many of us can either empathize with or know someone who has been affected which is why I think it makes this book that much more emotional. Annabeth does an excellent job portraying Ryan’s insecurities as a recent amputee and his inability to ask for help, his annoyance at others wanting to help, and his struggles with adjusting his world from Lieutenant Ryan Orson to Civilian Ryan Orsan, and his resentment at others who are still living his dream, along with his feelings of failure at being disabled. These are such valid feelings for a person who has had a life changing event such as portrayed by Ryan’s case that it was impossible not to fall in love with the guarded, sometimes burley man.
Then you have Josiah - we met him previously in other #Gaymers books and he wasn't always portrayed in the best of light, now we are getting his story. Josiah has struggled with severe ADHD and has to stay on a planned cycle of meds and lifestyle in order to function best. He is often accused of being flakey, not thought of as a "go-to" person, not self-assured despite his brilliance and talent with gaming development. When he meets Lieutenant Ryan Orson on a cross-country flight he tongue hangs out and his libido wakes up. He is in lust. Not even noticing that the man he is listing after is a double amputee - and puts his foot totally down his throat when he finally does notice. These two don't get off to a stellar start and I wondered exactly how Annabeth was going to weave them into a relationship, I should have never second guessed her brilliance!
I did a dual review of this story and both listened to the audiobook, narrated by Sean Crisden, and read the story. I will tell you I was driving too and from work and either laughing, crying, or needing a cold drink based on what these two guys were up to - so perfect narration again by Sean!
And dont forget Gracie, she has a huge roll in this book and I love that Annabeth included pets as therapy and service dogs - these animals do amazing things every day!
Worthy of 5 stars and I highly recommend this series and book!
