What do you do... when the man of your dreams walks back into your life? "All my life I've dreamt of telling the truth."
Alex Clarence is restless for a chance to show just how good he is to the editors at the newspaper he works for. His lifelong dream is to work for the news desk, but it's been a couple of years and he's still stuck in as a lowly metro reporter, handling boring stories about playground openings and rich kids' birthday parties. His ambition of hitting the front page of the Tribune seems more and more distant by the day...
"Why don't I settle down somewhere? Because I don't belong."
It's been seven years since Thomas Nyman abruptly dropped out of college in pursuit of his reckless desire to see the world, no matter what it takes. The years have hardly mellowed him down, but he's back in the States and the first person he calls is his old college roommate, Alex. They were more than best friends back then... why was there an undercurrent of romantic tension between them? And can it be brought back?
"All these years I've waited for you."
Thomas comes to Alex with the story of a lifetime — there's a charitable foundation out there that seems to be losing a suspicious amount of money every quarter. He doesn't know Alex's stuck doing stories he hates, but Thomas believes in Alex. Faith turns into a bond of trust, friendship, romance and passion...
When it turns out this corruption might be linked to a big shot politician, will Alex hold steady and write a story that'll expose his misdeeds, or will their intensifying relationship distract him from changing the world?
Restless Meets Reckless is a sweet and steamy second-chance gay romance. It is a full-length novel with no cliffhanger and a delightful HEA.

A political drama, second chance love and eroticism best covers this second book for new comer, Luke Reynolds.
Thomas was back and he was hotter than ever! Alex could not believe his college crush, his ex roommate, the man he's lost his heart to seven years ago; the man who'd crushed him to a pulp when he's left like a thief in the night, was back. And Thomas came bearing gifts.
One time ago, Alex was slated to be a political reporter. With a famous father, he left his wealth behind to make it on his own. However, sometimes life throws curved balls and the life intended gets swept under the rug. A lowly metro reporter, Alex is barely scraping the barrel for a decent story. Throw in a jealous immediate boss and he will never see politics as it was intended to be written.
You're mine. Was this what I wanted? A relationship...from a man who could never commit to a place, let alone a person?
When Thomas reenters his life with a story that can catapult his sinking career, Alex grabs the bull by the horn and does an expose that blows a politician out of the water. Along the way, he reconnects with Thomas moving from friends to lovers. But can his heart take it when free spirited Thomas decides it's time to move on? How will Alex survive another seven years with a broken heart? There is much growing up in this book and a heart's song that kept me going. Two songs were my repeat playlist, but one stood out, especially halfway through til the end... the slow version of Safety Suit's Never Stop.
I simply enjoyed this book. It got so sappy at times I rolled my eyes...My insides feel like they are bathed in sunlight, from the warmth and happiness in me. Yep, Alex was whipped and I loved it! And it was loving and made you want to never let go...He is everything I want. Everything I think about in a man. Be still my beating heart. This author is on the cusp of a great writing career if he continues to follow in the way that he is going with much improvement and dedication to the art.
I'd say read and enjoy. Even if you don't like politics, the book is a love story worth reading.

I'm not rating this because I DNFd this in the second chapter. There is just something about the way it's written that I don't like. As well as tense errors and a couple of sentences that I had to re-read more than once to try to decipher what they were supposed to be telling me.
Interesting premise but marred by annoying mistakes
I liked this author's debut novel and this one again has an interesting premise but the execution just lets it down. There are some editing mistakes but the biggest issue is grammatical misuse of tenses and, sometimes, completely the wrong conjunction during a sentence.
I was interested in reading this novel because I spent almost 20 years as a journalist and sub-editor and bits of it did make me laugh for their familiarity, other aspects were definitely editorial story telling license :)
Unfortunately, the romance between the two MCs seemed to turn into something more closely resembling a cheesy teenage magazine story from the 80s with over the top florid declarations of love and devotion. In the hands of a good editor, this could easily have been a 4 or 5 star story as a lot of the elements were there, but it became a little too samey and schmaltz-ridden towards the end.
It was a decent story, but I felt a bit like it dragged on too long. About halfway through I found myself thinking "how much more is there?" And surprised to see I was only halfway done with the story.
This was a well written and well thought book. Such detail without the reader getting bored. I'm very impressed by the work of this fairly new author. I HIGHLY recommend him.
i liked the history of the characters and the story itself, however a found the relationship between the two of them too sweet and cringy. i understand they love each other but there was just too many 'i love's yous' and telling each other what perfect boyfriends each other was. i understand this problem comes across as a bit mean but they were just too sweet for my liking. if there lovey dovey was scaled back a bit i would have given the book i higher rating.

This was an enjoyable read. It was a romantic story with a bit of politics thrown in. So even if politics isn't your thing this book is still a great read. Thomas comes back into Alex's life after seven years away with a story for Alex to write. Alex takes this story on and along the way they give in to their feelings and begin a relationship. The only thing that could break the is that Thomas is 'restless' and he never stays in one place for long. There is a little wait before we find out what Thomas's decision on a job offer is. But love wins out in the end. Some points of the book are a little too sickly sweet for me but it makes sense in the context of this book. This book is a true romance. There is some hot action but if you removed it there would still be a good romance book. There is no angst but a lot of feeling. This is Luke's second book and I have enjoyed this book immensely he is on his way to being a good writer.
I loved Pretend Boyfriend by Luke Reynolds and was anxiously anticipating this new story. The author writes a compelling, sweet tale of 2 men who were more than friends in college. Alex, secretly crushing on Thomas, but Thomas leaves abruptly with no word. 7 years later, Thomas returns from exploring the world and gives Alex what could be the scandal of his career as a reporter. Sound intriguing? I loved some of the quotes:
Hate to see him go, but love to watch him leave.
He seemed so… un-gay. Or at least, un-into me.
You’re more than just his partner, Thomas. You’re his everything.”
Once again, Luke Reynolds is staking his claim as a go-to author for MM Romance!

I loved Pretend Boyfriend but this one was just to syrupy for me. If I had to hear I love you one more time, I was sure I would throw up. It dragged on and on going over the same things in their minds over and over and over and over.
I found it flat and dragged out. Conversations being repeated again and again to make this book seem longer but it is what made this book hard for me to stay focused on. It took a long time for me to finish because nothing really grabbed me. The best part was the epilogue with a good ending and that I made it through.
What an amazing storyteller Luke Reynolds is. This story of Thomas and Alex was sexy and loving with emotions that I felt in every word as I was reading. I recommend this book highly.
