It's the summer of 1943 and, in spite of their mutual dislike, young Brit Wilf and American teen Peggy are becoming a true team as they work together for the sake of the war effort.
When the two become reluctant performers in a hospital show for wounded soldiers, they ask Arden Brown to join their act. Soon, Peggy finds herself thinking more about Arden and less about her boyfriend, fighting overseas.
It's still too early to tell how WILF's story will end. But, in Volume Two, things are starting to change. (This is a serialized young adult novel, told in four volumes.)
For a long time, I worked as a secretary at various entertainment companies. Then I spent years attempting to break into scriptwriting. Although I did manage to win a Disney Scriptwriting Fellowship, made it into the finals of the Austin Film Festival scriptwriting contest, and had multiple scripts make it into the semifinals of the AMPAS Nicholl Fellowship competition, I still couldn't convince anybody to read my writing. Eventually, at the urging of my longtime friend, author Autumn Cornwell, I decided to write and self-publish a serialized, four part Young Adult novel that I called WILF. Later, I rewrote WILF, combining all four volumes into one very hefty novel and renaming it THIS PLACE FAR AWAY. My newest book, THE DOWNFRONTERS, is a ridiculous teen comedy about two smart, former best friends who make a lot of stupid decisions as they desperately attempt to get down front at a big concert. Both YA books, along with SUMMER SILHOUETTES (Middle Grade and up), are available now on Amazon and Kindle. BTW, if you want to find me on Instagram, just head over to: ruthcampbellwrites.
