Actual Rating: 2.5

I actually had no idea that this was a spin-off when I picked this up, but the blurb drew me in, which is why I accepted it for review. Witch's Reflection follows Selah; she knows she's already different, because she's a witch. But she realizes that there's something even more out of the ordinary when she starts seeing things (memories?) that not only plant doubt in her mind, but makes her question just who she really is.

The formatting for this book was really interesting. Between some chapters, there are bits and pieces of writing that adds perspective from some characters, or just tells the reader more about what is going on behind the scenes. I especially liked these parts, because the writing style was mysterious and I thought the voice given to the narrators at these parts were very unique and powerful.

As someone who hasn't read the original series, I wonder if this contributed to some of the difficulty I had in connecting with the book. I felt like I didn't quite connect with the characters as much as I could've. There were also some terms that I didn't really understand, and because of my confusion it was a little hard to truly understand everything that was going on and how things worked in the world the author created.

The characters definitely had their own personalities and traits, but like I said, it was a bit hard to keep up with all of them and I felt like the only one I truly felt connected with was the main character, Selah, who was actually very likable. I felt every emotion and ever internal turmoil that she experienced, and she really became a character with depth and individuality.

Because I felt a bit confused about some of the terms (though the glossary at the beginning helped a little), I felt like I couldn't quite follow the plot, and I was neither satisfied nor disappointed by how the story turned out. Nevertheless, I thought this was a pretty interesting read, though I definitely had some trouble with it.

Selah's parents die when she is really young. Young enough that she barely had any time to form memories. The memories she does have are from what her older sister has told her while looking at picture. Selah's just a teenager when the books starts. Her and her sister Talia get into a huge fight and Selah takes off out of the house she's not far from her house when she is drugged and kidnapped. Read to find all the juicy details of what trauma Selah goes through. Oh and Selah and Talia are witches.

This is a good story with fresh elements of which I was unfamiliar. For me, it was not an easy read. There were points at which I moved to other stories in order to weaken this story's grip. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the story which ends with a setup for another.

Entertaining. Great world building. Haunting. Informative. Scary. Tragic. Twisted. Unpredictable. Wonderful characters.

This book was a interesting twist on Witches and other supernatural characters.
Selah and Talia are sisters and orphans. Talia took responsibility for her younger sister when their parents were killed. Talia is also the youngest Coven leader.
In order for Selah to come into her powers she had to revisit past lives. This is hard for Selah after she was taken and experimented on. Her nightmares are bleeding into real life and now she is hearing voices.
Can Selah figure out what is the truth?
With the help of Caden, a were-fox who was held captive with her, her sister’s new husband Byron and a few others, Selah faces the past.

Selah Gage has been raised by her sister Talia since their parents died. When Selah is kidnapped and used as a lab rat she begins to hear voices that make her question her past. After she is back home she struggles with the reflections necessary to become a more powerful witch.

Can Selah confide in others about what she is going through or will her reflections predict the outcome of what Selah is scared to face? Is there more going on than meets the eye and will Selah be able to defeat what she is being faced with?

This was a super interesting read and at first I wasn't too sure where it was going but everything came together really well and I loved learning about the past lives how and how they affected the future.

Selah had lost so much with her parents dying and being taken care of by her sister, Talia, who was 10 years older. She was rebelling which ended up getting her kidnapped by the Mirabilis. The only good part of that is that she made some incredible friends, including Dyala and Caden Garroway, who helped her with what she was going through.

It was interesting seeing her figure out what happened in the past and I wasn't sure exactly what role Eshu was playing but I knew he was doing something evil. I can only imagine how awful Selah felt when she started putting the pieces together.

At first I wasn't sure how I felt about Talia's husband, Byron, but he ended up being such a great help with Selah and calling on those who could help her.

The end had a big revelation that I wasn't expecting and it will be interesting to see where the series goes next!

Selah is going through life conflicted with herself. As a witch, they are required to go through "regression", which lets them learn from past mistakes. Selah, though, sees things from her past that she was not expecting and is not sure how to handle them.
The premise is very interesting, and I really enjoyed trying to figure out what was real and what was really going on. It is was very interesting to see how Selah progressed, but I wish there would have been more development and focus on the other characters as well.
There were little bits throughout the story that tied things back to each characters' past, and I thought that was really interesting and a fun way to tie everyone together. It was very unique as well, which is so refreshing.
The ending was a little lackluster for me (hence taking off one star), as I wanted a little more to happen. I did like the way the story ended and the information we gained from the ending, but I wanted more of an action sequence there. Overall, a quick and enjoyable read!

I didn't realize that this was a spin off series so far it's a great start for a new series. With that being said I found this to be a very enjoyable and entertaining read had my attention from beginning to end. I also like the camo appearances from the characters from the previous books. Definitely looking forward to reading about Selah friend Caden looks like there's a love connection forming between them can't wait to see what's going to happen next. I voluntarily read and review this ARC I haven't been compensated in any way.

This is a spin off from another series by the same author carrying over a few of the characters. Selah, Talia, Bryon and Patrice are fabulous créations. The characters are endearing, beautifully constructed and developed while remaining flawed. Loved this one and couldn't put it down.

This is book one of The Young and The Powerful series and features sisters Selah and Talia Gage. Talia is the much older sister and has had to act as Selah’s mother for many years. Selah has hated how overprotective her sister has been and her pushing for her to undertake her reflections, the process in which she will remember her past three lives, so she can learn from what happened in them. She gets fed up and walks out the house one night, only to be apprehended by some evil scientists that experimented on her and other prisoners in a cruel and painful manner. Once they were eventually rescued, the kids have stuck together and try to meet up every week or so, to talk through their issues.

Talia has now married a demon king and Selah is living with them and is well protected by Bryon, her sister’s husband, and his men. Two of the kids Selah was imprisoned with are Caden and Dyala. Dyala is a brownie and used her healing power to help Selah heal from some of the worst injuries forced on her during their captivity. Caden was in a cage behind them and they all became close. When Selah hasn’t turned up to a number of weeks of sessions, Caden starts to get worried and seeks her out at her sister’s new and secure enclave. He is a werefox and manages to get past their electric fences, but is caught on the stairs. Selah stops anyone attacking him in his animal form and manages to persuade her sister and husband, to allow him to stay.

He helps her with parts of her reflection process, but what she uncovers, is something that disturbs her greatly. She should be able to discuss what happened with her sister, but now she is also hearing voices, voices that are trying to get her to do bad things. The secrets revealed by her first two reflections, show matters that involve her sister’s past lives ad well, and her past lives interference in them, and not in a good way. She can’t tell her sister that she is responsible in her past lives, for the short lives of her own sisters past lives. There is an evil being playing games with their lives and only Bryon notices what has been happening and gets a glimpse of the figure.

Parts of this story are relatively straight forward, especially in regard to the sisters, but then other parts are just seemingly unrelated, especially the epilogue, which made no link to any character in the book so far, so was difficult to make sense of! It took a while to work out what all the past live scenarios were and how they related to the two sisters and there were so many unusual names to try and follow. Not my favourite read from this author and not a series I shall be following. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Enjoyable Read
by Dale

This was another wonderfully written reflection of ones self-worth and true purpose. I totally enjoyed meeting Selah the young and powerful.
This is the type of book you read while your sitting in your quiet place, with snacks and drinks in hand.

I’m sooo looking forward to seeing the next episode.

After their parent’s death, Selah is raised by her sister Talia. Now that Selah is home after being kidnapped she is having nightmares and seeing things from her past that she doesn’t know how to handle. I enjoyed this story as we figure out what is real and what isn’t right along with her. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Death, deception and live can all be lethally dangerous if improperly managed

Losing the edge of her perception put one sister in place as a huge danger

Love and magic might not be enough to save them or their coven

Intense paranormal and psychological drama
