5 full stars !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A little gem I devoured!
A novelette, clean romance, that is a solid 5-star read for me, and I'm still smiling!
If you're looking for something romantic and light, refreshing, and utterly delightful, you absolutely have to pick this up.

Right from the start, I was hooked.
Here is the PLOT IN A NUTSHELL :

Valentine Baker, who's craving adventure, arrives in Venice to visit her cousin Eva, when during the stay she accepts an offer to be a companion to the wonderfully unconventional Contessa (Eva's mother-in-law ). SO soon enough, they're off on a ship bound for Cairo.

They are accompanied by the charming boxer Mr. Maxwell, who has the task of accompanying them to his brother's excavations (excavations financed by the countess), to discover the truth behind the thefts of archaeological finds and to protect the two women.

Maxwell tries to keep his distance from Valentine, but her warm nature and easy laugh draw him in. He soon comes to cherish their time together, until someone attempts to drug him, and the aftermath reveals serious consequences for Valentine. He’ll do anything to keep her safe and her reputation intact, yet with treachery on board and his heart at stake, Mr. Maxwell must make a choice that will change his life forever.

______ ******* _______

What truly made this novella shine for me was how complete and satisfying it felt, despite its shorter length.
Nancy Campbell Allen is a master at crafting engaging stories, and this one is no exception. It's a brilliant comedy romance through and through.

Forget heavy drama; this story is all about one incredibly embarrassing – and utterly hilarious – situation that pushes our two protagonists to finally declare their mutual attraction and love.
It’s written with such a light touch and a wonderful sense of humor that I was genuinely laughing out loud. The engaging plot keeps you turning pages from start to finish, and the humor is just the perfect ingredient to make it feel so refreshing.

___ WONDERFUL MAIN CHARACTERS ___
Even though it's a novella, the characters really come alive. Valentine and Mr. Maxwell are fantastic, and their brilliant dialogue and personal thoughts let you into their heads and hearts immediately.
Their interactions are precious, and you can practically feel their connection growing.

___ A tiny heads-up about the title :
"From Cairo, With Love" might make you think we're spending a lot of time in Egypt, but Cairo actually only appears right at the very end. But honestly, that's not a complaint at all! In fact, I actually loved the little HISTORICAL NUGGETS, like discovering that Shepheard's Hotel in Cairo was a real, super famous place from the 19th century until its destruction in 1952.
It’s those little details that show how much care the author puts into her stories.

And yes, for all you romance lovers out there, you'll be happy to know there's a LOVELY HAPPY ENDING!

_YEAHHH ! ___
I discovered that this novella has a prequel, again a short story named "What Happens in Venice", by the same author (inside A Timeless Romance Anthology #5), telling the love story and marriage in Venice of Valentine's cousin!
I love N. Campbell Allen write style ( I rated 5 stars some other proper romance by her ), I've already added it to my "must-read ASAP" list.

All in all, From Cairo, With Love is a delightful, charming, and genuinely funny read that will leave you with a huge smile on your face. Highly, highly recommend!

Thank you for reading my opinion and please be lenient with any error in my text ( English is not my native language ).

Valentine is a sweet and innocent girl who longs for adventure. And boy, does she get it when she becomes the companion to an Italian countess and finds herself on a ship bound for Cairo. Her tongue is tied around handsome and daring Max, but an unlikely friendship develops, regardless. With danger on the high seas, life-altering choices, and a romance full of chemistry that will leave a reader swooning, this story packs a punch in such a short number of pages.

I love quirky characters who allow their true colors to shine and there's no shortage of those in this book. Max doesn't hold a typical job or title, yet he's held in awe by his peers. Valentine is completely charming and sweeter than honey. The Contessa is wise, yet unorthodox, and is as engaging as the trio of young men who worm their way in.

There's something about a romance that blooms from the seeds of attraction, but is almost forced open before its time, that really brings a smile to my face. The potential of those little interludes didn't disappoint and the results are very delightful. I love to swoon! The added element of suspense is very fitting to the story and gave it an added dimension that really enhanced the characters in their situations.

Content: mild, swoony romance and mild innuendo; a few moments of suspense/danger/peril.

I read this little gem in between ARCs. For a couple of hours I was transported onto a ship bound for Cairo with Valentine Baker, the Contessa and Mr. Maxwell (Max). Valentine is to be a companion for the Contessa which will allow her to travel to exotic places and some freedoms she's longed for. Max is there to help protect the Contessa. There's an immediate attraction between Valentine and Max, but he doesn't make any romantic advances towards her. They come together in a most unconventional way, especially for the era in which this story takes place.

I liked Valentine and Max. They weren't your usual characters. She's 24 yrs old, so no longer a debutante and Max owns a chain of boxing salons which was an unusual way of making a living. I liked the Contessa too. This little book has great characters, romance and some intrigue inside its pages.

I love the Timeless Romance collections and enjoy these Timeless Romance Singles. This novella is barely over 100 pages, but it's a complete story. I didn't feel things were rushed or left incomplete. Novellas are great when you only have a short amount of time to read.

I love anything that is connected to the Timeless Romance Anthologies and now we they are starting a new line, single books. Yay! This was a wonderful read. It wasn't too short but short enough that it could be read in a single sitting, a nice evening read. I loved Valentine Baker. She finds herself the youngest of 7 children and the only girl, trying to enjoy life with not much to her name and living off the generosity of her brothers and their families. Able to reconnect with a cousin she finds herself traveling to visit her cousin and be a companion to that cousins' Mother-in-law, the Contessa, on her journey to Egypt. As she arrives in Venice, at her cousin's house, she meets one Mr. Maxwell who is to accompany the Contessa and Valentine on their journey where they will actually be going to visit an archeological dig that Mr. Maxwell's brother is in charge of.

Valentine has never seen or met someone like Max(Mr. Maxwell). He leaves her tongue tied. Which in turn makes him believe she is a very prim and proper(and snobbish) young lady who would never have anything to do with lowly him. Max was a winning pugilist and has created quite a name for himself from that as well as opening several boxing clubs that are very popular all over London. He is what is termed, new money, and not what most mother's would want for their daughters.

As they set out on their ship for Egypt Valentine and Max find that their first impressions weren't one hundred percent accurate and that they are becoming fast friends. They meet up with "the Trio", three gentlemen from London also traveling to Egypt, and Dr. Henry, a rival from Max's youth. Revelry abounds one night and we find Valentine and Max in a bit of a predicament.

Oh this was really a delightful read and I have come to enjoy books by Nancy Campbell Allen and will continue to read what she writes. If you are looking for a fun, adventurous, sweet romance, and humor I highly recommend picking this one up.

Content: Some kisses and a fade to black clean scene with a married couple. Some fisticuffs but nothing graphic.

I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Happy Reading!!!

This is part of a new line from the folks that bring us Timeless Romance Anthologies. I am in love! From Cairo, With Love was about 90 pages long. Short enough to read in one sitting, but long enough for good plot and character development.

This story followed Valentine Baker, a 24 year old British miss. In search of adventure, she travels to Egypt, as a companion with her cousin's mother-in-law, Contessa. Their traveling companion is a prizewinning boxer, Mr. Maxwell. Valentine is attracted to him instantly, while he mistakes her nervousness for snobbery. With weeks on a ship to get to know each other, Max and Valentine do become friends. And with some hijinx from other passengers on the ship, they eventually become more than friends.

It was a delightful story, full of characters that make you sigh, laugh, and cringe, respectively. The romance was clean, yet full of romantic tension. I was rooting for Max and Val from the beginning. I only wish the story had been longer. Not because it was in any way lacking, but because I wanted to stay with these characters longer, and to see more of Egypt.

I really hope for more books about these characters (especially Quincy, and Eva's brothers-in-law).

Content: clean (some kissing, no language)

I really loved this new novella by Nancy Campbell Allen! It was so well developed for only 90 or so pages. The characters were vibrant and full of life and I could so easily visualize each one. Sometimes when I reach the end of a novella, I long for more but with this story I was completely content at the end. It was so good!

I love this new idea of novella singles from the Timeless Romance series. This novella releases on November 1st, which is only a few days away! I can't wait to see what book and which author is up next!

I’m a big fan of the Timeless Romance Anthologies, and love that they’re publishing these Single novellas now. I was excited to see one of my favorite authors Nancy Campbell Allen had written one. I obviously jumped at the chance to read it.

This was a fun read, a well developed novella that is able to capture your attention and hold you tight until the end. I’m a sucker for a good romance, but also love when there is a little suspense thrown in to keep our characters (and us) on our toes. I thought this had a fun setting, likable characters and sweet romance. A great read when you’re looking for a quick escape.

This lived up to the Timeless Romance name. Sweet, clean, and romantic. Good characters and a fun, interesting plot. Good conflict without getting too complicated or dramatic.

I do think that $2.99 is too much for a book of this length. It would be more appropriate to put it in the $1-$2 range, especially since the Timeless Regency Anthologies sell 3 of this length together for $4.99.

Valentine Baker is an unmarried, orphaned spinster at the age of 25 when a cousin asks her to accompany her mother-in-law, the Contessa, to inspect the archaeological dig she funds in Egypt. They will be escorted by Octavius Maxwell, brother to the Chief Archaeaologist. They will travel by ship from Venice to Alexandria and then on to Cairo by train. Misadventures on the boat, lead Maxwell and Valentine in a direction they never expected to go.

This is basically a historical romance novella. It is a quick, easy read. As usual for a novella, the romance happens quickly and the characters are not as deeply developed. With a cast of both villains and heroes, I found it enjoyable enough to recommend it.

***4.5 stars***

The majority of this wonderful romance takes place on a voyage from Italy to Cairo. Valentine Baker is a young English woman who is almost old enough to be considered a spinster. She has been taken care of by family and is excited to begin an adventure. She is fortunate to accompany an Italian Contessa to Cairo. Right from the start you get a feeling how this book will continue, the Contessa is not your average matriarch. She is witty and has a fantastic sense of humor. She lets Valentine enjoy herself and encourages her to socialize, rather than be at the service of an older woman.

The romantic interest is Max. He is an Englishman who has earned his money in an unconventional way. He is a pugilist (boxer) who owns his own boxing gym's. Max and Valentine are attracted to each other from the beginning but neither feel as if the other could possibly be interested in them.

Sea voyages have a way of bringing people together. I absolutely adored the way that Nancy Campbell Allen was able to craft a book full of humor, excitement, mystery, and unexpected circumstances. The way she brings the two of them together is creative and full of humorous errors. It left me smirking and chuckling!

This is a sweet novella that is perfect for historical romance lovers. It is clean with some kissing, innuendo, and fade to black scenes.

What a great start for the Timeless Romance Singles series! The story was well developed and interesting, with some clever elements. There was plenty of romance, and a bit of suspense as well. The characters were great! I immediately fell in love with Valentine. She had such an enthusiasm for life and everything around her. Max was a dashing hero, with a few rough edges to make him interesting. I loved how protective he was of Valentine. The rest of the characters rounded out the cast quite nicely.

This was a quick read, and a great way to spend an afternoon. I loved it!

Great little Novella

I really enjoy this authors books- she puts so much into creating a story that’s not just a “fluff” read. One of my favorite novellas ever is her “What Happens in Venice” from the Timeless Romance Anthology European Collection, so I was thrilled to pick up this book and see she wrote another one as a sort of sequel to that story. The romance was swoony but clean, and while I wish it could have been a tidbit longer, I liked how everything played out and wrapped up at the end. A nice and quick read, especially when you don’t have time to get lost in a longer story.

This was my first book by this author and I loved it! The writing was very good as was the plot. There was action and romance and the characters were likable. This is a clean read and good in the spelling and grammatical area as well, which is always nice.
I will definitely be seeking out more from this author.

This was a sweet novella. A conventional girl living in a conventional English village, Valentine Baker is excited to be offered an adventure by her cousin, Eva. She will be accompanying the Contessa, Eva's mother-in-law, on her voyage from Venice to Cairo to investigate an archaeological site.

Valentine is immediately attracted to Mr. Maxwell ("Max") who will be watching over Valentine and the Contessa as they travel to Cairo. At first she is tongue-tied around him which he misinterprets as snobbery, but they have plenty of time on the ship to sort out any misunderstandings and get to know each other.

There are some fun secondary characters they meet on the ship and there is a minor intrigue which is quickly and easily resolved at the end. There were a few parts that were a little too predictable (and maybe unbelievable), but overall I though it was a sweet and enjoyable read. I am looking forward to more books in the series.

Such a fun novella! The characters were so fun and witty. Valentine is tongue-tied when she first meets Max. Max interprets her lack of talking as snobbery. Little does he know that Val is besotted with him from the start. Throw in a few weeks at sea, a sham wedding, a little mystery, and a cottage by the sea, and you have a great story. :)

Nancy Campbell Allen’s novella From Cairo, With Love is a sweet and fun romance that readers will thoroughly enjoy. It is about a young women, Valentine Baker; she longs for an adventure and gets it when the opportunity for her to travel to Venice and be the companion of a Contessa on a ship to Cairo, Egypt. But little does Valentine know what awaits her aboard the ship—plenty of adventure and a bit of unexpected romance. Allen builds her story and characters from page one, causing readers to become hooked and fall in love with them. For a novella, Allen does well in completely developing her characters and not rushing the story. This is a sweet romance that readers will not want to miss.

This book was predictable, but it was still a fun journey and a fast read. There were some twists and unexpected turns. The whole marriage on board, though disturbing because of the drugs, was a humorous situation, but I didn't care for that whole scene. It was really crazy and felt cluttered with all the drunk people, confusion, and contention. I liked the MC's relationship. They had a cute way with each other. I liked that they just told each other that they wanted to stay together instead of all the back and forth wondering and noncommunication that occurs in other books. I liked that Max was a pugilist. I haven't read many books with boxers in it. I liked that the epilogue was a letter to Eva. That was a fun way of ending the book. There was some innuendo toward the end. It was handled tastefully, but wasn't necessary. It had a scene of inadvertent drug use. No language. No sex, but it was implied (hence the innuendo). I really like the cover. I'm not sure I'd read this one again, but it was enjoyable. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a great short stand-alone novella, the first in a new series from the Timeless Romance anthologies. Instead of an anthology with 6 short stories, this series will include a single novella at a time. This was a fun, entertaining adventure with well-developed characters and a plot that moved along at a swift pace with a few little twists. I admit I did struggle with the feasibility of the sham wedding, but I still enjoyed the story. It kept me engaged, laughing, and wanting to know more about the characters. There was lots of interactions going on and the story covered a wide area -- from Valentine arriving in Venice and her time there to her crossing to Egypt and then her time there as well. Overall, a very entertaining story and, again, a great start to this new series! I look forward to reading more as this series is released!

I really loved this one. It reminded me of the author's Isabelle Webb series.

This novella felt like the perfect introduction to a new historical series. It's got a bit of everything: exotic historical setting, adventure and intrigue, and lots of romance and swoony moments. I loved how the relationship between Valentine and Max developed and how honest they were about their feelings, especially Valentine.

I do hope there will be a new series out of this novella.

From Cairo, with love is a sweet short story about a women named Valentine. I loved her character as she was well developed, interesting and witty. The story was nice. As the relationship that Valentine and Maxwell developed felt real and honest. The beginning and the middle part had a nice pace. However the ending felt a bit rushed. Overall a heartwarming book!

What a fun adventure! I was surprised that so much happened in so few pages. The characters were endearing and my interest was peaked for more stories about "the trio", Quincey, and the Italian brothers! While this was a story that could have been longer, it didn't need it.

I was given a free copy for my honest opinion... So there you have it.

I really enjoyed this story and so far it is my favorite by this author. The romance was well done and I thought both Valentine and Maxwell were likeable main characters. I would recommend this to anyone who loves clean, historical romances. I usually get my books from the library but if I purchased books, this author would be on my auto buy list.
