Avery

This beautiful heiress just might be the only way to save my ranch…but at what cost?

Good God, Paisley Summers could not have picked a worse time to hit on me. The gorgeous annoyance decides to come on to me while I’m drowning my sorrows at the only bar in town, mourning the impending foreclosure of my family’s ranch.

I actually don’t care about the ranch itself – but I do care about my brothers, and it’s their whole world.

To be fair to her, there’s no way she could have known my problems when she approached me. But to be fair to me, this definitely isn’t the first time I’ve had to resist her charms.

I’ve been dodging her advances for twelve years at least, but the woman cannot take a hint! Most of the men in this godawful little prison of a town probably think I’m insane – Paisley is drop dead gorgeous, with a killer body, a refined manner, and enough of her daddy’s money to buy the whole place up.

But maybe that’s the problem. Maybe she’s just too perfect for the likes of me.

Paisley

He’s so much more than a rugged rancher – I just have to help him be the man I see inside.

Avery Corbin is simply the most frustrating man. He’s sexy as hell, toned and tanned from ranch work, but he just won’t take yes for an answer. I’ve practically had to throw myself at him since high school!

Sure, I could probably have any guy in town…but I want him. I want the man who always chooses the hard road, who does the right thing, who dreams of a better life.

The only problem with dreamers is, they tend to miss what’s right in front of them.

Well, not anymore. Avery is going to see me now – and he won’t be able to resist me this time.

***Hunter can be read as a standalone book. For a limited time only, my first RUNAWAY is included as a bonus.

There are 5 brothers in the Corbin family – no girls and all born within 10 years... popped out as their friends say ready to work the ranch.
But then their parents die and the eldest, at 18 is left with the job of bringing up the boys and also keeping the ranch going. Not so easy when the other boys don’t think they want to ranch and have other ideas – perhaps a cop, perhaps a Marine, perhaps a horse breeder and perhaps an entrepreneur.
So some leave, but come back for various reasons and this book set tells why and also finds them all a romance.
But in between there are trials and tribulations. Some relating to the ranch – cattle smuggling, drought and so on; and some relating to the girls they choose to fall for.
Nice steady set of books with enough drama to keep a contemporary romance going.

Avery

This is the second book of the Corbin brothers. I wanted to read this book to see what happened with Hunter and Hadley. I figured they they would be incorporated into the story. Not much was said about them just raised more questions. As far as Avery and Paisley I could not get invested in these characters. For most of the book neither of the characters had too many redeeming qualities. And for someone who hated ranch life as much as he did to enter into the contract was just stupid. Yes he was saving the ranch but at what cost. Plus I don't enjoy reading about s--t faced sex or angry sex and that's all they had. If it wasn't for the very ending where both redeemed themselves and you finally understand what motivated Paisley that saved the story otherwise I would be rating this lower. Also please note this is a short story it ends at 13%. The author has included other of her stories including Stronger I couldn't stomach this story only got into a third of the book before I stopped. There should be a trigger warning for people. There were some pretty graphic child abuse/ molestation scenes . Since there is no explanation of any of the extra stories I would look online first to see what the story is about before wasting your time.

It was good read.
I didn't like it as much as I had liked the first one, Hunter, but it was a good read.

I had read some of the reviews on here and thought I'd dislike the pairing of Avery and Paisley, but looking at how the characters are developed, the challenges they have and their lives, I thought their relationship would be like any in that situation ... explosive and full of drama ....
Would I read it again, no. Would I recommend it because it was such a great read, no. Am I going to continue the series, yes, I want to know what happens to the other brothers, and even though I wasn't into this book much, the next one might be better

Depressing

This is just a depressing book. The "hero" hates everything about his life right up until the last chapter or so, when he suddenly realises he loves his wife and their life and has ideas about how to makes things better at the ranch. The heroine thinks she loves him at first, traps him into a marriage of convenience, he treats her like dirt, then she treats him like dirt, then they live happily ever after for the last couple of pages of the story. Then the rest of the book was a bunch of totally unrelated stories that aren't even listed in the table of contents.

Told strictly from Avery's view. This story didn't work for me. Avery was such a whiny man and Paisley was manipulative. He hated her and the ranch and then BOOM, he loved her?? Didn't get it. There was nothing there but jealousy to build that on. I felt the characters were to shallow in their personalities. I didn't hate it but I did skip pages, to much internal thinking.

This book was even worse then the last...Avery is an overly depressive immature ass that hates everything.

I can't continue the series

I'm really starting to like this series. Yes Avery and Paisley have an unconventional relationship. Paisley has loved Avery since he saved her from a bully in elementary school. Avery is annoyed by Paisley. Paisley offers to marry Avery to save both of their ranches by merging them together but end up hating each other in the process. But true love always has a way in the end.

This series gets more awkward the further along I get... I had to force myself through this book. This relationship is also awkward, much more so than the first book. I won't continue with this series unless I really can't find another book to read.

After reading Hunter, I was expecting more from this book. The main character was really annoying. I liked that the author tried to flip the typical blackmailed for marriage troupe, but I felt like it failed. Avery and Paisley were an odd couple, and I never really understood the attraction, for the most part Paisley came across and needy and with no self esteem, and that is not who she was supposed to be, from what I could understand from the rest of the book.

If there were ever a more stubborn man! Holy Cow Avery was an angry, undecided lug of man! Paisley was one Hell of a determined woman that finally got what she set out to get🤠
There anger, passion, resentment, jealousy and tears.
Good story, worth the read!
